"Family-Friendly Riverside Park Another great park for outdoor lovers is the Morgan Falls Overlook. Located at a dam on the Chattahoochee River, it’s a the place to have a picnic, let the little ones play on the playground, or to put in your kayak for a trip downstream. There’s also a fishing pier, fire pit, and hiking trails should you be so inclined. Grab a seat on one of the swings overlooking the water. During the summers High Country Outfitters has a station where they rent out stand up paddleboards."

This place was awesome! The walk down to the dock was a small hike, but it was all worth it! We enjoyed a lovely day on the water in our SUPs with our sweet dog Oskar and had the BEST time! We had a picnic with a delicious Italian sub from Publix and soaked up the awesomeness of day while paddling and floating.

Google
A very well kept park with aspects for all ages. There is a children's playground for young families, a green space for sport scrimmage, a few viewpoints to take in the scenery, and a short hiking trail to immerse yourself in nature and stretch your legs. Great for families and a relaxing picnic or hangout, lacking for an avid outdoor enthusiast.

Google
The place is a hidden gem. So peaceful...family friendly....very scenic . ...and a covered pavilion for social events like cookouts, reunions, picnics, etc scenery is beautiful. Swings for couples to sit on and lookout at the water..if you wanna take special pictures for events like prom, engagement photos, etc this is an ideal spot!!

Google
We visited Morgan Falls Overlook Park just to sit back and enjoy nature—and it truly felt magical. The atmosphere is so peaceful and calm, making it a perfect escape from the daily hustle. We especially loved the swings—you can just relax, sway gently, and take in the scenic beauty all around. For those looking for a little adventure, you can rent kayaks and paddleboards right at the park from Murph’s Surf Paddle Shack. They’re open seasonally, usually from April to October, and operate directly on the water. The park also has great amenities like picnic pavilions, hiking trails, restrooms, and playgrounds—making it a lovely spot for families, couples, or solo visitors.

I like this place, and I've been here several times a month. Saw film shooting going on once near the dam. The garden is good and peaceful if you want to sit and read books. I took my 2 friends here, my roommates aunt who came from India we both visited this place and she loved it too, my colleague and his twins loved this place and found and perfect spot for thir kid's photography. So basically whoever I took here they all loved this cute little place. There is a small house far inside the mountains on the other side of the lake and it looks cute.

Google
Beautiful place with peaceful vibes ,there is a picnic spot as well and a playground for kids and it's well organized and you can go for a short walk around the park and it has quite a few swings where you and sit and view the lake.. it's really beautiful place worth visiting if you just want to hangout with family/friends and relax

A natural wonder hidden among the city, you will enjoy watching the many shades of green.

Google
We went for kayaking with friends and then played and enjoyed with kids in parks . You may sit and enjoy the water from the swings they have there.

Yelp
A very quiet, and serene place to visit. It's well worth a visit, and you can even dip your toes in the water at this historic dam.

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this park last week after being in the area. It's very beautiful. It has a massive park for children to play at. There is a great area for grilling. At the bottom there is a place with canoes and kayaks.

Yelp
We had a great Saturday at Morgan Falls! The lake was wonderful and we sat out there for hours people watching and also walking around! We want to come back in the summer and get in the lake! Great for a afternoon in the park!

Yelp
First time visiting Morgan Falls. It's a fun filled place with trails, a kids playground, porch swings, a fire pit, and a breathtaking view of the Chattahoochee below. There are also kayak rentals on the river bank below. When we came we hiked the 3/4 mile looped trail behind the playground accessible from the parking lot. There was a bald eagle flying above his beat. Kayakers down below had beached themselves on a sandbar in the middle of the river. A guitarist was jamming and kids were playing in the Sun. Just a picture perfect place to relax and take in the sites.

Yelp
Well kept and is getting more love from the city! Always friendly folk, good walking trails, playground, dog park, and Bull Sluce lake for paddle boarding and kayaking. I see a ton of people fishing near the dam. It's great for picnics, sun bathing, and light hiking! Only missing thing is a water pump near the dog park, and maybe some restrooms. (They are located at the lake/playground area)
google avatar

Yelp
This is a fun little park to take the kids and play on the park. There is also a historic feature. After playing there is a small hike that a 5 year old could handle. We didn't do it but you can rent a kayak and do some boating. Also there are lots of swings for looking at the water. We had a blast, there is a different inking fountains there and even one for four legged friends.

Yelp
Our first stop in #atlantaga was a playground stop in #sandysprings at Morgan Falls Overlook. There is a small trail that goes around the water but the playground is incredible! It is fenced in except for the entrance which helps so much! There are two areas, one for younger children and one for olders. With having multiple ages it was so nice to be able to monitor both. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all! If you are in the area, it is an amazing and FREE energy burner.

Yelp
This was a fun find with my clients recently. Tucked away down this quiet little road past a church is this beautiful, relaxing park. There's two sides to it when you drive in. We went to the right to the Morgan Falls section where there are pavilions with picnic tables, a great view of Bull Sluice Lake, a good sized (partially covered) playground, clean bathrooms, and a whole row of swinging benches overlooking the water - including another circle of swinging benches to the left. It's a great place to just chill out and relax uninterrupted it seems like. We went on a weekday around lunch time, so there was only one other group using the pavilion. We opted to utilize the swinging benches for our meal time. Parking was no issue, although, I can imagine it must get pretty busy on weekends and holidays. The back road on the way in had a lot of bikers and pedestrians crossing at different times, so please drive slowly of course, as they may come out of nowhere! It was really peaceful to just eat overlooking the lake in a quiet surrounding. There's a place off the parking lot you can rent kayaks and equipment to take out to the water if interested and a long, winding ramp down to the dock to launch or just walk down to the water. There was a sign on the way in showcasing all the different kinds of animals that inhabit this park, which my clients and I thought was pretty cool. It seems like you could definitely spend a considerable amount of time here just unwinding on a quiet day. I would definitely say come check it out if you've never been here. I'll be back!

Yelp
Beautiful park with free parking. Nice walking trails but I really enjoy the benches that overlook the water. You can kayak and get into the water to do water sports. It's one of my favorite gems to go to.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on a weekend and it was crowded. We circled the main parking lot once and there were cars just waiting for people to leave and it was congested. It felt like the mall parking lot around Christmas time. I dropped off my family and parked down the hill in the gravel lot. It is about a 1/3 mile walk to the park and wasn't bad, except that there is no sidewalk so you are dodging slow driving traffic. The park facility is new and great! The playground is big and suitable for all ages, has lots of shade, and benches for parents to sit on. There is a small hiking trail that is perfect for a beginner or those short on time. We saw people launching their SUPs when we were there and the overlook portion of the park is gorgeous, with swinging benches to relax on and plenty of grass area to spread out. This park has it all and is a good bang for the buck driving distance wise.

Yelp
Great place to bring kids ! I don't have kids, but if I had them I'd bring them here lol. Restrooms were nice and clean! (Says a lot for a park) they have a dog park, one side of small dogs and another for big dogs, really nice. Loved the swinging benches, can't wait to come once it warms up to come kayaking!
google avatar

Hanan G.

Yelp
Very cute and clean nice green to run around or lay out blanket, swings overlooking lake playground for kids by big pavilion. Parking could get full sometimes

Paul G.

Yelp
Nice place walking trails, people are out walking and fishing by the Damm They also have a driving range for the golfers.
google avatar

Cheryl R.

Yelp
Such a nice little park. You can rent kayaks or paddleboard's. You can sit in one of the many swings that overlooks Lake and enjoy the beauty. Clean restrooms and a wonderful children's playground. Go the other direction and you can see the dam. Nice place to picnic .
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed coming here for the first time! We had a picnic, while social distancing. We sat right on the river and enjoyed a nice meal with nature. If you've never been to Morgan Falls, I definitely recommend it! There's a couple different areas here. They even have a playground for kids. There's plenty of parking on either side of the park. I recommend bringing your own beach blankets or towels, find a nice shady spot, and bring some food to enjoy this river view.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite parks. It can be hard to find a good parking spot during peak hours, but, it has an amazing waterfront view, swings, tables and a short (1 mile) hiking path. This is a very relaxing and fun park for all age groups. Plenty of walking paths and green space
google avatar

Ted H.

Yelp
Nearby park from Sandy Springs. Nice hike and very nice facilities. You will see some of the Chatahochee River. They also have kayak rentals.
google avatar

Abbey B.

Yelp
Great place to go kayaking and sup. Rentals on site-reserve ahead or bring your own gear for no cost fun. It's a bit of a long walk down the path carrying your board. Water is not something I would swim in. Pretty cloudy and dirty. Stained the bottom of my sup.

Yelp
We love this special park. It was one of the first places we discovered when in GA. Sitting on the dock talking to the ducks and geese and watching the sunset is so nice. My little one loves that. The swinging benches that face the lake are such a nice extra! I love that they have them also all around the fire pit circle-- great place for group gatherings. But let's talk about this playground! It's one of the only parks I've found that has a big shaded draping over it. The playground is just so nicely done and clean, with cool structures to play on: one for little ones and one for bigger kids. Plenty of swings. Everyone is always so friendly here and it just feels good in your soul to spend time here. I often see dog walkers and joggers as well. People also play soccer w their kids. And I've seen you can rent kayaks for the lake but I haven't ever done it myself. Next goals. I have attempted to hike the trail right behind the fire pit area, and we got 1 min in and there was a snake in the trail and I said NOPE haha So I cant help with a review on the hiking lol. There's decent bathrooms and a big parking lot. Great place! Well maintained by the city.

Yelp
I absolutely love this park! One of my favorite places to go in Sandy springs. If you live in the area or are looking to satisfy multiple family members at once - look no further! This park is pretty big and not too far from the highway. It has a walking trail, wooden swings that overlook the water, they have canoe rentals, an actual park for kids a big kid and baby park, there is an area where most play soccer. There is also an area to grill and use for parties, gatherings, etc. it's so beautiful! Also, the park is covered! who doesn't love a covered park!? Your kids will thank you ! Plenty of seats for parents and just a nice beautiful scenic area. They have events in the park as well. If you live close by keep track of them and you'll have yourself a new family hangout spot. Will always go back!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
Pretty park with less than 1 mile hiking trail. The bench swings are very nice. Very crowded with kayakers and paddle boaters, so instead of parking in the lot right when you turn in, turn left and go down the hill to park in the gravel lot right by the dam.
google avatar

anar m.

Yelp
Park is open during COVID19. We enjoyed the shady trails that hike up the sides of the river. One hike starts right behind the Pavilion, and the other on the right side of the Parking Lot. There is plenty of parking as well as plenty of benches and swings.

Erica K.

Yelp
The benches overlooking the water is so pretty!! The paddle boarding during the summer looks so fun too! I plan on trying it this summer.

Yelp
Well, it's pretty! I visited Morgan Falls Overlook Park when I was going through several local parks while in the area, and Morgan Falls Park was the last on my list for the day. Morgan Falls is a 27.8 acre park, and one of its biggest draws undoubtedly was the large body of water, that I noticed several kayakers on during the day, as well as people walking along side it on the paved trail next to it. Amenities at the park included the following (Taken from their website): Fishing Picnic Tables Playground Restrooms Walking/Hiking Trails Pavilions (able to be reserved) boat rentals On this Saturday the kids play area, is a nicely sized area, and had several dozen kids running all over the place, with parents watching, or sitting on one of the picnic tables that are placed around a central fire pit near the brick chimney near the "end" of the trail. Restrooms were clean, pavilion was packed, dogs and owners alike were out and about, and one interesting thing is the parking lot. It's a smallish lot, and users of the park are definitely patient, because they simply park their cars and wait for people to come back to cars to leave. This makes it very difficult to drive around the park lot, both from trying to get around the idling cars, and getting a spot yourself (likely to be taken by an idling car). There is a gravel lot down hill of the park, where the actual Morgan Falls dam is. A shuttle does occasionally come on the weekends to pick people up to carry them up the hill, but if you can, i'd simply just walk on up the hill. A lot of fishing goes on here at the Morgan dam, but water wasn't being released when I visited. A hiking trail does exist, and I began the trail, but once I read reviews and saw where the trail went, I decided to not do it. Morgan Falls will receive positive or negative reviews based on what you're looking for in a park. It's pretty, but small and parking is disorganized. It's not really designed to give a great hiking experience, but if you're there just to chill, have a picnic and enjoy the day, I imagine you'll 5 star it. I'm giving it a 3.5. Still, if you're close and aren't looking to break a sweat, this may be your park!
google avatar

Kinyonna J.

Yelp
Beautiful park, kayaking rentals available, short hiking trail and kid friendly! Not much to explore but the scenery is beautiful.
google avatar

Peggie Y.

Yelp
It's difficult to find parking at this place on the weekend. You may have to park all the way down, by the power plant, and walk to the park. There are signs by the power plant explaining the history of Morgan Falls and the electricity supply plant. We went on a hike on the hiking trail. The entire trail took 20 minutes to complete, and it's not a scenic hike. You see some fallen trees and a glimpse of the Morgan falls. There is a common area with swings for people to sit on, a children playground and a fire chimney. The park is a nice area for people to engage in outdoor activities and is not hard to get to.
google avatar

George W.

Yelp
Nice place to spend an afternoon. There's something for everyone. Hiking trails, scenic overlooks, a playground, dog park, picnic pavilion and old folk swings. There's a paddle board rental (seasonal) and launches for canoes and standard boats. Check out the placards giving the history of the dam. In 1902 it was one of the first hydroelectric plants in Georgia.
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
Great park! It gets really crowded on weekends and when weather is nice so expect it to be busy. Nice variety of things to do there (playground, lake, walking trail, swings, kayaking).
google avatar

Mayumi O.

Yelp
The park itself is very beautiful, and the playground is fun but the bathroom was not very clean. The toilet that I used had lots of stains.

Christy L.

Yelp
Beautiful place to relax and kayak or paddle board. I try to go as much as possible. I'll definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
It was wayyyy too hot last week, but I brought the pups to the park anyway. Emma and Chase were ready to play! Woof!! We took a stroll around the playground, swings and covered bench area. After a little bit, we decided to explore the dock downstairs. Be careful walking down those stairs, they are STEEP (especially not easy with two dogs)!! The park was not crowded and I could feel a nice breeze come from the water. On the dock, were two kayaks coming in from an outing. You can rent kayaks and canoes, who knew!! It was peaceful and serene being out there. The pups seemed excited to be close to the water. We walked again around the trail and headed for the wooden swings. A cute place to watch the river and nature on a sunny day. They pups enjoyed their time outside. We will be back soon!
google avatar

Joanne M.

Yelp
Nice lovely park overlooking the river. I love the swinging chairs. There is a pavilion and boat launch. The trail is short but has some climb.
google avatar

Toni G.

Yelp
Gorgeous hidden gem. We went on a whim close to sunset.. We loved the view and people watching. Such a diverse array of people enjoying the outside and nature.
google avatar

Ericka H.

Yelp
Every client that I photograph here falls in love with this park. The view, water, swings and playground hold plenty to do for every member of your family. Everyone who visits here will leave a happy camper. It's a small little gem tucked in Sandy Springs. It's the perfect spot to enjoy some sunshine, get some exercise and great park to take photos of the kids. You won't be disappointed! :)

Michael W.

Yelp
My fiancé is the best. We had a nice picnic here. Only negative, no tp in the restrooms.
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
Small, picturesque park with a good view of the Chattahoochee. There's a short, 15-20 minute, hiking trail that takes you up the hill. Nice, but obviously not a hiking destination. You can drive down a bit to look at the dam, which is also picturesque. There's a dog park down that way, too.
google avatar

Nicki K.

Yelp
Beautiful park hidden away in Sandy Springs off Roswell Road. I would have never known if it wasn't for one of my friends who went there and told me about it. Later I found out that my brother actually went fishing there with his kayak. There are two sides, when you get to the stop sign, the left side is actually the fishing area with the damn; and the right side is where the park, walking trails, playground, and where you can rent kayak. Because I have an obsession for waterfalls, I wanted to check out the damn. I was disappointing cause the water was not running much. Why? It just rained last night. Oh well. I am glad I went and got a view. The view from the lake is gorgeous, so many ducks there, not afraid of humans just chilling. Then the walk up the stairs, you will see so many bench swings. It looked cool just sitting there with the lake view. There was also a fire pit on the right hand side with lots of bench swings too. Near the pavilion on the right side, there is a map for the walking trail. It is hidden and hard to find if you don't know. The trails are not paved and all nature. You will get the view of the lake to your right and circle around and make it back to the parking lot. It's roughly around a mile? My friend had her Fitbit tracker on. Overall, a nice short hike with beautiful views!
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place to go. Unfortunately all the trails were closed but has a great playground area for the kids. Loved the swings overlooking the river and the chimney stack. Would be a wonderful place to take photos.

Yelp
Thanks to friend recommendations otherwise I'd never know this place existed! Great playground for kids incl. swings, slides, climbing wall, spider web rope thing, spider web monkey bar thing and more -- all under a big shaded cover which really made a difference. The golf grass is nice too. We came on a weekday morning and there were many kids of all ages and single parents (or nannies). They've also got a shelter with picnic tables. Next to the playground are several porch swings with a great view of the river -- the porch swings were my favorite part of the park! There's a short sidewalk trail to the river below where you can a closer view of the river - also a dock for fishing and feeding ducks ... sadly only one duck for my 5-year nephew to feed and the duck wasn't hungry either :( You may have better luck with fishing - I talked to one man and he said he caught an 18 lb carp! Some reviews mention the gravel road and potholes on the way to the park but it really wasn't that bad. The road surface is a little rough and we didn't see any potholes so maybe Sandy Springs did make some improvements - the rough part of the road is really short anyway. Definitely worth the visit for your kids!

Yelp
Great place for hiking, fishing, dog park, etc come during the week and not weekends it gets so pack!

Yelp
Morgan Falls Overlook Park isn't huge but it has something to cater to every member of the family. You can always see 3 generations of families out an having a good time, there is a little bit of something for everyone. I've also observed a few caregivers out with their patients, getting some exercise and enjoying the fresh air. We love to get out here every chance we get and escape into the beauty of the place. This was our first time however on the hiking trail, which isn't challenging and gives a lovely bird's eye view of the the park and river. There's a great playground for the kids, a nice lawn where you can have a game of frisbee, football or catch, there are also picnic tables and grills, a fishing dock is available, kayak rentals and bench swings (even one for wheelchair accessibility) that provide a great view of the Chattahoochee. We recently discovered the breath taking view at the Morgan Falls River Park with a magnificent dam and a dog park. It's also a nice area to get some fishing done or just sit back and relax alone or in a group. The park is well maintained which is a great plus. We're going to start increasing our trips to MFOP especially now as the weather is warming up, you should too!

Yelp
Our family is completely in love with Morgan Falls Overlook Park. A wonderful options for all ages. The playground area is mostly fenced in and includes swings (standard and the toddler kind) and play structures geared towards different age groups. The more toddler-appropriate structure is in its own little area, while the "big kid" structure (geared towards kids ages 5-12, according to the sign) is on the opposite side. A lot of great play options. Outside of the play area, there is an open area with benches overlooking the river, as well a covered barbecue/picnic area, and a walking path that leads down closer to the river itself, including access to a small dock that can be used for fishing/paddle boating/etc. Plenty of parking and restroom availability makes this a wonderful spot to frequent.

Yelp
Second trip to this hidden gym. Located off Roswell Rd, in Sandy Springs, tucked back past Steel Canyon golf course, and off a road you'd think would lead to nowhere. Once you stumble upon this place, you won't regret the narrow, bumpy path that got you to it! This park is fairly large and offers amazing views of the Chattahochee. It has a bathroom facility, water fountains (and dog friendly water fountains), swings over looking the river and an amazing playground! My son actually requested coming back here and I had no problem saying yes. The playground is built on artificial turf, so kids can play and take off shoes and not get dirty. They have a toddler-friendly playground on the right (ages 2-5), and a big kid playground on the left. Swings are in the middle (baby and child). The equipment is sturdy enough for adults as well. There are quite a few benches surrounding the enclosed playground, or you can plop down on the turf or concrete lining the playground. Coolest features of the playground, the spider web climbing structure and the spinning platform that uses your weight to move you around and make you dizzy. If you can find this place, you'll love it!

Yelp
so peaceful. i was here and it was nice of just sit down. i give it 4 stars because there was some parts closed off, but other than that it was amazing

Yelp
What a great park. This place has a little something for everyone. There is a dam, fenced in dog park, fishing dock, boat dock, golf course and driving range, playground, bench swings with views of the lake and a campfire. I really like the playground structure. Everything looks fairly new and is well kept. There is a structure for big and little kids. The parking lot by the playground is fairly small. You may have to park at one of the other lots if you come on a busy day.
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
GREAT turf playground for the kiddos. I think they had 4 baby swings and 4 "big kid" swings. When you have a 10mo old, you look for things like that. They had two play areas - one for big kids and one for little kids. The big kids play area had a web, climbing wall, slides, etc. The little kids area had 4 slides and some stuff under the slides which I didnt notice last time and saw this time. My baby girl who likes to pull up on things loved this equipment. There is a nice flat grassy area with bench swings over looking the Chattahoochee...that is a nice bonus if youre going with the grandparents. There is also a nice pavilion picnic area with grills...havent used it and prob wont, but it's very well constructed It's kind of small. Dont go on a busy weekend, parking is a night mare. Currently there is some work being done on a retaining wall on the way into the park, so give yourself some time if youre meeting people and be prepared for your car to get dusty.

Yelp
The best food ever! Eat here frequently always so good! BBQ sand which is a go to with mac n cheese and beans!

Yelp
It's a nice quiet place to come. It has couple of jungle gyms. Really big lake. Lots of swinging benches. It has a nice stone fireplace.

Yelp
I love this park so much. I often enjoy hiking the trail and watching the sunset on the swings. The bathrooms are always clean and ventilated. Great place for some peaceful intimate time with your s.o. Also a great park for kids to run around and play. There's also a dog park and fishing area down the road.

Yelp
What a gem! Much further off Roswell Rd than I expected, the park immerses you far away from the bustle of Atlanta. Fabulous playground & picnic area.
