This place has so much potential; great location. Unfortunately the food was below average, greasy and cheep. I got an egg sandwich, it had no flavor and the ingredients were obviously the cheapest options, cheese was burned, 2 thin skinny pieces of bacon and bread was soggy with oil. I paid extra for avocado and got two thin slivers. Honestly a waste of my money. If the ownership wants to stay open, they should start paying attention to detail.

Google
I had a vegan wrap. It was delicious. The kids had muffins that were good as well. Very good food, and nice accommodating staff.

Stopped by Morgan Street Cafe for a quick bite and coffee. Ordered the turkey club , iced latte, and a side of chips. The sandwich was decent but a bit dry, and the latte was nothing special. Service was friendly but slow—had to wait a while for my order. Total came to about $18 before tip. Nice spot for a casual hang, but not sure I'd make a special trip.

Google
This used to be my go to. However the past few times I’ve gotten carry out the food has been very disappointing. How can you charge $12 for this wrap? 98% lettuce

Google
Prices are in insane. Had an appointment to look at an apartment down the block. I picked up a regular single serving size Diet Coke at this store. $5+! For one bottle. 🤮I currently live in a nice part of Manhattan and they don’t try to get away with that here.

Google
The food was good, but could have easily been so much better The scrambled egg sandwich was nice, but dry The lox sandwich had too much cream cheese and if they used smoked salmon, it would have been fantastic The cappuccino was nice The staff was friendly and service was excellent 👌

Google
We used to live in the neighborhood and today was driving through and decided to stop here. They're always nice and welcoming. And the sandwiches have always met or exceeded our expectations! This is a great spot to support. Thanks for the great consistency 👍

Google
Morgan Street Café is a hidden gem in the West Loop! Consistently great food and even better coffee—something that’s hard to come by in this part of the neighborhood, especially for breakfast or lunch. The menu is fresh, satisfying, and always hits the spot. The staff is incredibly kind, personable, and makes you feel right at home. A reliable go-to for quality and comfort. — Dr. Gabriel J. Yelp
Great spot! After a morning drive up to Chicago and an even longer day ahead, I wanted something light. I went simple with a chicken biscuit. Delicious! The biscuit was that fall apart crumbly kind that made my mouth and stomach happy. My wife went with a brisket grilled cheese... and OH MY! I had a few bites of it and if I lived next to this place, that brisket grilled cheese would be on my daily menu! Aside from those two menu items they have an entire board full of things to salivate over. I want to try it all! The inside is simple. Feels welcoming/relaxing and has a steady flow of indoor eaters as well as people grabbing to go. Outside... steady flow of traffic and pedestrians to people watch while you eat. I loved this place and I'll definitely check-in on future trips to Chicago.

Yelp
Just stopped to grab a quick breakfast sandwich & latte on a Sunday morning. The service was pretty fast, the sandwich I ordered was a sausage egg & cheese in a croissant with a hot chai latte. I love the little nook where they have books & a very nice painting of the city.

Yelp
Cute, small cafe. Only a handful of tables. Breakfast burrito was good, just lacked substance. It was on the flatter side and not very filling. Could have used more sauce. Good service, friendly staff!

Yelp
The turkey club on wheat was excellent when ordered as take out. Huge portions. Took awhile for order.

Yelp
Good morning, Morgan Street Cafe! I have a special spot in my heart for this little joint! One of the first places I visited when moving to CHI, I have a sweet memory of picking up breakfast here and returning to my apartment that had yet to be unpacked. My go to? The make-your-own-breakfast-sandwich option: Sausage, egg, and pepper jack cheese on a biscuit! The service is a little slow, but I don't mind knowing that my breakfast is being made on the spot just for me! I personally don't think it's fair to charge $8.49 for a breakfast sandwich, especially when it doesn't even come with a side of chips. If the prices were better, I'd probably come more often. Thanks, Morgan Street!

Yelp
This place is the definition of hit or miss. Been here twice now ... first time was decent nothing mind blowing but enough to satisfy a lunch craving. Second time .... Ordered two breakfast sandwiches and two coffees ($40). It was possibly the biggest rip off for two small breakfast items - one was absolutely terrible and had to be thrown away. They charged an additional $1 for cheese and it looked like they had put maybe 3 strands of shredded cheese on there. Would tread lightly and think it's better to take a chance on lunch - coffee was good though.

Yelp
Cool quiet cafe with lots of good things at breakfast. It has typical breakfast items and many that are vegan friendly. Morgan Street Cafe is worth an excursion out this way. Has typical prices for a cafe around here. There isn't a whole lot of seating so you may have to go to an outside table. I think the best thing here may be coffee. Of course the food is also good. The meal just isn't complete without it. A lot of coffee to choose from. There's several kinds of non dairy milk. I like the cortado. It's $4.25 for a cup. This isn't any higher of a price than many other places. As for the food there's lots of good choices. They have a big menu for breakfast and lunch. I came with my friend the last time and we got breakfast. They have some plant based items. A good place cur vegetarian breakfast. She had the Garden. It's about $9 for a sandwich. This comes with eggs, mushrooms, onions, pesto, red peppers, spinach, Swiss, and tomatoes. I got the Spicy Sausage Tofu Scramble to eat. It's about $9 for a pretty big one. This is filled with vegan cheese, onions, soy chorizo, spinach, tofu, and tomatoes. Good breakfast. I also would like to come here for lunch. They have a veggie burger so there's lots to get also when it's lunch time.

Yelp
I ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap and Buffalo chicken wrap. Honestly one of the worst food items I ever ordered for both wraps. The chicken was a thin rubbery plain no seasoning slab (same chicken in both wraps just different dressing) with one piece of lettuce and I would never recommend these.

Yelp
Small, intimate, cozy environment. Good service, good food. Corner view of outdoor activity if needed for mental health.

Yelp
Had a very bad experience here and definitely will not be coming back. I do love supporting neighborhood establishments and came here instead of Starbucks but what a mistake. Walked an extra 20 minutes to be treated pretty poorly. We wanted to order a breakfast burrito and asked if the cheese could be substituted because I don't eat American cheese. The girl said the kitchen said it was impossible and when asked where the cheese is from she said "the kitchen doesn't know". We decided to try the build-your-own breakfast sandwich instead. What was interesting is we ordered at the counter with our pup in our bag and told her we were eating "for here". She didn't say anything and answered our questions about the menu. We paid and sat down. After waiting over 20 minutes for our ONE sandwich (when the restaurant was basically empty), she proceeded to give us the sandwich in a togo brown bag and said "sorry we don't allow pets". Didn't ask if we could go outside or anything at all. It was very off-putting as my partner could have brought the pup outside had we known. Our pup is actually a service dog in training for my partner who's a veteran but we didn't want to argue about technicalities. We were just confused given they had pup treats on the front counter and had read other reviews that say it is dog-friendly. I felt as if maybe they were upset about us asking to substitute the cheese and wanted us to leave? Otherwise, I couldn't think of another explanation. But to passive-aggressively give us a togo container rather than letting us know put a super bad taste in my mouth. From other reviews seems like their other sandwiches aren't worth it anyway...would recommend skipping this place!

Yelp
We ordered pickup and it was ready quick! I got the cheesy spicy hash brown breakfast burrito w/ sausage and it was delicious!! Just the perfect amount to eat and stay full for a bit. My husband got the chicken biscuit. It wasn't fried but not surprising given it's a cafe. We can't wait to return and get some of the lunch sandwiches.

Yelp
The sun is up and the day begins with a quest for breakfast and coffee. We decided to try Morgan Street Cafe. We were doubling up and taking the dogs for a walk and Morgan Street Cafe has several tables with chairs outside next to the sidewalk. Very convenient for coffee and breakfast with the puppers. We ordered the All American Breakfast Sandwich and the Cheesy and Spicy Hash Brown Burrito along with two lattes. The all American breakfast sandwich included eggs, bacon, grilled cheese, tomatoes, and onions. The buttery goodness of the toasted bread gave this sandwich a nice rich flavor with all of the breakfasty goodness inside. The cheesy and spicy hash brown burrito had all of the breakfast delectables tucked inside the grilled tortilla including the hash browns, eggs, cheese, your choice of bacon, sausage, or avocado and chipotle mayo. This was a really nice breakfast package with a little zing to it. All of us, puppers included, enjoyed our first visit to Morgan Street Cafe. Next time we will have to come closer to lunchtime to sample some of the tempting sandwiches on the menu.

Yelp
This is a great, local coffee shop. They sponsor local neighborhood events and are just a wonderful neighborhood business. Prices are comparable to Starbucks for coffee, and they have great sandwiches for lunch. Inside is dog friendly, so feel free to stop by with your pup on a walk around the neighborhood or to the dog park. In nice weather, they have cute little tables for outdoor dining. If you order online for takeout, they also have a special door for pickup where you don't even need to go inside.

Yelp
Cool, little cafe in West Loop! I've been coming over to this joint quite a bit lately as Im always craving the sriracha chicken ranch BLT...definitely worth the 10 minute walk over. The morgan burrito is banging as well. There is seating available inside as well as outside (while its warm at least lol). They of course have coffee, tea, bagels, breakfast and many other cafe delights. So much to choose from on their menu.
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Very nice breakfast option right outside the main street in the west loop. The garden breakfast burrito felt pretty healthy and was just enough food for a lighter breakfast. They have some nice indoor stools you can sit on while you eat and can watch people walk by.
google avatar

Yelp
Sandwiches / wraps can be a hit or miss. I used to love the chicken siracha wrap...and now they have changed the chicken to some faux grilled processed / fake looking chicken patty like meat. And my latest had the most wilted lettuce that seemed like it was a couple weeks

Maxwell B.

Yelp
Servers were very nice, interior looks good (even if tables were small and kinda wobbly), and is in a convenient location. However, the food I ordered (grilled cheese) was of poor quality---it was basically just a single slice of American cheese on bread, yet it cost $8. Didn't come with fries, chips, fruit, anything. Seems like a huge ripoff if you ask me. Won't be coming back sadly.

Yelp
Morgan Street Cafe is a solid breakfast and lunch spot in West Loop. I usually walk over for a coffee and bagel, their coffee list is decent and their bagels are good. Ive never had their sandwiches or lunch items but they have a good selection of food. Prices are a little steep but overall a nice spot.

Savannah N.

Yelp
The people who work there are very nice. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and the food was made quickly. The food however, is not great. Granted I have never gotten breakfast but if you are looking for a lunch wrap, I would not recommend coming here. The chicken is not prepared in-house. It has those drawn on grill lines, which is very offputting. I would not recommend the chicken Caesar wrap. Overall a disappointing lunch.

Yelp
This has got to be the Kool Kids Club here on Morgan Street. I recently made my way over to this little corner cafe in my search of an early morning weekend bagel and am surprised I never came by until now. First off, loved the vibe inside. The menus are hand written on black chalkboard and displayed behind a counter of delectable looking pastries and other goods. Its got high ceilings and wall art that I absolutely love and rows of window seating so you can people watch, charge your devices, and relax over a cup of joe. My stomach was calling out to "The Morgan Street Special" breakfast sandwich ($6.68) which was a medley of eggs, cheese, baked ham, portobello mushrooms, onions, and peppers. I figured that giving their namesake a try would be appropriate. Sandwich is served on warm, toasty ciabatta break and was JUST what I needed on a dreary morning. You really can't go wrong with this simple but delicious sandwich. If I hadn't moved recently I would have frequented this spot more. They've got awesome food and great prices. I hope that they continue to be successful in their business.

Yelp
I wish I could leave a better review... I come here somewhat frequently.... but other reviews are right, it's expensive here. But the service is the real problem. They have "the restroom is for customers" sign. Well I asked for the key before I ordered as I don't like taking my drink into the restroom. When I asked for the key, the young counter woman felt the need to tell me it's for customers only ( I don't dress shabby). I literally had to explain that I wanted to buy something AFTER washing my hands. She was not very nice. Then when I ordered I very nicely told her the restroom was out of towels. She respond "ok". No apology, and no thank you. At least thanking me for letting her know would have been appreciated. Really rude. Ironically I stopped by today for a latte, and to read a book I'm in the middle of called "Customer Service is Dead"....(it's about how businesses no longer prioritize top customer service). it sure is at Morgan Street Cafe! ‍ They lost a fairly regular customer....

Yelp
Visited this Cafe for the first time today and the iced coffee was really good as well as the BLT, the food was fresh and the staff was really friendly! The prices were great too!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
The food is decent and the service is nice. Nice place to hang out, and they have a nice patio seating outside. It was a little busy when I came and had to wait a bit for food. Ice latte was my favorite!

Yelp
Don't expect much when ordering food. I've always been left unsatisfied by their dishes, that are pricy and lacking in size and taste. Sometimes when I'm in a crunch I'll order it. Attached is the Vegan Italian Sub Roll. This is $12 and comes with protein, vegan cheese, banana peppers, and marinara (i opted without marinara). See attached for the $12 sub sandwich

Lacey W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had enjoyed Morgan Street café the first couple of visits - although it's expensive for what it is, there's a good selection and it's vegetarian friendly. So we were excited to start our day here today - what a let down! It felt very claustrophobic although there were only maybe 5 other parties there, because the flow of the walkways is unintuitive. A bit of a wait, but can be forgiven on a Sunday morning. But the kicker was the bacon on my vegetarian panini (I'd ordered a cheese and avocado breakfast sandwich.) At first, no big deal, mistakes happen, so my boyfriend returned the plate and explained what I'd ordered and that I'm vegetarian. The staff was non-plussed by this, and simply removed the bacon, put on some avocado, and returned the same sandwich to me. All the cheese came off with the bacon when they did this and THERE WERE STILL BITS OF BACON ON THE SANDWICH. I'm not usually one to make a fuss, but returning the same sandwich to a customer who has stated dietary preferences that still does not meet those needs is unacceptable. I'll take my $12 for breakfast at a business where the staff shows minimal regard for the customer in attitude and in action.
google avatar

Belle S.

Yelp
There was a huge thick pubic hair in the middle of the breakfast burrito. I threw it away immediately. Worst $13 I've ever spent. Won't be coming back here.
google avatar

Johnfavour N.

Yelp
Nice spot for breakfast/coffee, but on the pricier end. Usually I get a coffee/latte, breakfast sandwich, and a hash brown. They offer many dairy alternatives for their lattes, including oat milk, almond milk, and soy milk. My favorite value item was the $1 hash brown, which is still listed on the menu on their website but not an option when you try to place an online order, so it's unclear if that's still available. For online orders, there's a table set up at the Adams Street entrance so you can pick it up yourself, nice for social distancing. When I've ordered 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches, they automatically provided a cardboard cup holder so I was able to carry everything in one hand.

Richie B.

Yelp
Everything taste great , the workers get the food out fast , nice lunch spot for a quick bite
google avatar

Murad A.

Yelp
Everyone's talking about the food, but in the age of COVID-19, I feel it's just as important to talk about the hygienic standards at this restaurant. When I asked if they could wipe down the visibly soiled table for us before being seated, they handed us a dry paper towel. When we asked for something to disinfect the table with, they took the paper towel back, ran it under the sink, and handed that to us. Yikes. Edit: The vegan burger is delicious

Kyle P.

Yelp
A subpar experience combined with an expensive bill. Walking in the store is poorly ventilated and has a thick oily/Smokey smell from the fryers and burners. I got a burrito and paid ten dollars. I had less ingredients and quality than a burrito at chipotle. I was in shock when I saw how small the burrito was. Super disappointing.

Yelp
Almost every neighborhood in the city of Chicago has a local coffee shop. Morgan Street Cafe is a Near West Side represent. The actual place is rather tiny, with a few high stools, chairs, sofas, and tables. However, patio space appears to be sufficient, as long as you aren't afraid of the mid-summer UV ray aiming straight at your face. Daddy J. a.k.a. Mr. Americano, had his coffee-quota in for the day. MSC uses our Chicago "Dark Matter" coffee beans, so Daddy J. should be quite satisfied with his large serving. I remember the day I had the "Dark Matter" iced black, without either sugar or cream. This caused an ongoing buzz and non-stop bathroom runs. Hence. I've learned my lesson and had my sweet and creamy Matcha latte instead. MSC is a place where you can have casual or serious conversations with your friends, with a moderate volume level. Service was friendly and swift. If you will ever find me on the northeast corner of Adam and Morgan with my i-pad (probably just yelping with their free strong wifi), you know that I'm doing my "foodie on foot" thang!

Yelp
Morgan Street Cafe has the perfect Saturday afternoon breakfast feel (which is conveniently when I went ). Its a small, curved counter cafe/bakery/coffee shop with adequate seating for individuals and groups. It can get a little cramped when its busy but its still worth. I got a 16oz. Iced coffee and a croissandwich with egg, cheese, and avocado. The iced coffee had a strong taste without being bitter and adding cream and sugar definitely upped the ante. The croissandwich really stole the spotlight, though. The sandwich was thick and solid, with the croissant holding up remarkably well under the heat, the heavy egg, and the avocado. It was genuinely filling and the egg was light and fluffy! Im sticking with 4 stars because I thought it was a little on the pricier side (around 10.50 for the two) but you can be the judge of that. Give this place a try!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Some how spent $25 on a bagel with cream cheese, a muffin, a tea and iced latte. Prices are pretty outrageous for pastries and coffee. ($8 for a bagel with cream cheese!) Food was okay, but something has to be done about these outrageous prices.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
I've been a ton of different cafes in my life but MSC really stands out above the rest. It's clear the owners here take pride in the product they put out. This place is not just another coffee shop. Yes the coffee is delicious, but so are the sandwiches and dessert! It's just a really homey space where you can grab a bite to eat, meet a few friends, or catch up on some reading. The employees here are extremely friendly and have zero attitude which honestly is hard to find these days. Maybe it's a Midwest thing. Stop giving your hard-earned money to giant corporations like Starbucks and support your family-owned businesses that give the local neighborhoods real character and personality. Trust me, I live in an area dominated by strip malls with chains and I hate it so much. Would die to have a place like MSC right down the block from me.

Yelp
Morgan Street Cafe is the definition of a neighborhood cafe! It's cozy, cute, and charming. They have a great variety of breakfast sandwiches you can't go wrong here! Vast variety of coffees, juices, milk and many other drinks to satisfy everyone of all ages. Staff is friendly. Great spot to get a quick bite to eat in West Loop!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a wonderful hipster-y cafe in West Loop that serves simple but terrific sandwiches (both lunch and breakfast sandwiches), as well as bakery items and coffee. I particularly like their pulled pork sandwich - it's flavored well with a sweet bbq sauce. It's a small cafe in an artsy loft-style building with limited seating and counter service. Overall very efficient, great for grab and go, and they have a buy 10 get one free deal.

Ethan F.

Yelp
Food is fine, but waiting 20+ minutes for a simple breakfast sandwich when there's no one in the restaurant is frustrating.

Karen C.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with this cafe because I ordered two sandwich melts and they didn't come as melts. The bread was toasted and all the ingredients inside were cold. I've had sandwich melts before and never have I had this problem. I also placed my order and there were three separate individuals behind me and they happen to get their food first. I would understand if my order was more complicated but it was just meat, cheese, and bread. Definitely not worth $32 that included two sandwich melts and two refrigerated drinks.

Liz S.

Yelp
Ever since this place has been under new ownership, it's been terrible. I used to love this place. Still has good coffee, but don't expect much when ordering food ... and that relates to portion, presentation and taste. Do better, you have a lot of competition in the west loop.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Pretty good neighborhood café. I ordered team breakfast from here over seamless, and the delivery was late, the café was really nice to call me about it so I don't just sit there wondering where the food is. The bagels are pretty good, loved the everything ones and the japapeno ones. The brownie is a bit hard, but tastes really good! The scones are really good too, made from mixed berries and nuts.
google avatar

CJ S.

Yelp
I would eat almost anything they can put on their grill. I recommend the 'Chicken Club' if you like cheese chicken and avocados and some other delicious veggies. If you are in the area stop by for breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Man, I am such a dork. Here I am thinking I'd already written this review and it was time for an update, but nope. Anyway. I love Morgan Street. It's not too far from my apartment, they have WiFi, outdoor seating, indoor seating, and a decent sized menu. Woohoo! I can get pretty much whatever I feel like. They have muffins, gelato, lunch food, breakfast food, smoothies, coffee, and even cupcakes! It's great. Personally, my favorite thing is the cheese quesadillas. They are soooo good. I think about eating them way more than I should. I've had about 5 in the past 2 weeks. Sometimes I just can't help it. I think those quesadillas & Morgan Street will be the things I miss the most about leaving the West Loop when I move in a few months. The staff are all very friendly and when I ask for a bag to take my quesadilla home in, they are always willing to pack it up for me. Yay! No pets in the establishment, but they are happy to have lots of dogs sit outside with their people. I've even seen staff members give out doggy treats. I love a place that loves animals! As far as drinks go, they have: Tropicana single serving juices, Naked, a few other juices, Vita Coco water, pop, water, and of course those smoothies I mentioned above If you're in the West Loop, this is not a place to miss. Your tummy will be super happy and your friends will thank you.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm currently waiting 40 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. To say that is excessive is an understatement. I could've went out for a sit down breakfast in this amount of time. No apology from staff, no offer to make it right. I'll never go here again. Nohea cafe makes better sandwiches and are competent.
google avatar

Jing C.

Yelp
Good vibes, solid coffee. The breakfast sandwich menu is highly customizable so I would not run out of new options in another year or so. Another perk of living nearby is the toasted bread and coffee smell in the morning - best thing to wake up to. They take contactless (e.g apple pay via watch) which is awesome for runners to leave cash at home and come straight for a bite after the run.
google avatar

Rachel A.

Yelp
Great little spot for lunch. Really good sandwiches. They also sell rx bars. I like the turkey club sandwich. Can get really busy at lunch so I call ahead. I am always a fan of any warm sandwich and they have a ton to chose from. They're very friendly and now know my name when I walk in. I love that!!
google avatar

Rudy L.

Yelp
My go to coffee place when I work out in the West Loop. I love that they use Ritual and makes ordering before and especially now super easy. The food is fine but I haven't tried much besides the sammies.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a grab and go lunch. Big fan of the Dark Matter coffee available, really offers a great local vibe that's almost like New York but with the Chicago feels. The staff is great here and very helpful with getting you through the dense menu to find the option best suited for your mood.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood coffee shop. Their customer service is amazing. They are good about remembering your frequent orders. They have been great also for my business, as many of my vendors always want to treat us with coffee and I like supporting them. On the weekends, I love taking my dog in and he enjoys the dog treats. Their wraps and sandwiches are delicious.

Yelp
This review is based on a pick up order as this was lunch before my wedding. My now husband went to go pick up all the sandwiches that I called in to order. I was impressed that despite the guy answering the phone saying that my order would take 30-40 minutes since they had a huge order they got it right anyways. I actually ended up eating my Milano, the Big Tuna, and a Turkey Club. They were all very good. My husband didn't really care for his roast beef sandwich in which I asked that they would add cheddar cheese and when he opened it up to show me there was barely any cheese in it where there were a few shreds of cheddar sprinkled in there. I would love to indulge and sneak away and check out the place and eat here, and now I will have good reason to. The prices are reasonable.
