Mori Sushi

Mori sushi is amazing! The sushi is always really good and fresh. Also love the miso soup and mocktails. The husband and wife who own it are the sweetest. They are always so kind to us. We also love that they are open late!! We’ve been coming to Mori for about 2 years now and definitely will keep coming back

We ordered Mori for delivery and got a sashimi platter and 3 rolls. The rolls were unique and tasty. The sashimi was small and poor quality. There are better sushi spots in the area.

Cute inside, great friendly staff, excellent menu with some creative rolls. Where they really shine though, is the food itself. The quality of all of the ingredients, assembly, and execution are TOP NOTCH. I'd never expect to find this kind of quality in the suburbs. Blows away all the others, even the high-end places in the city.

I always appreciate a great restaurant, especially when ran by a husband and wife team and Mori Sushi is exactly that! Sushi was fresh. I didn’t catch the name of our server (wife) but she was so accommodating with our kids and extremely friendly. We will definitely be back!

I have been coming to Mori Sushi consistently for the past 2 years and I must say this place is a HIDDEN GEM. I don’t exaggerate when I say I have gotten the best sushi and super fresh every single time it has never failed me once no matter at what time or what day I order. Not to mention the business is owned and runned by a couple who are really nice ! They put effort and love into their business. Miso soup is amazing here with fresh tofu.

No idea why it has such a low rating, the place is truly nice. The rolls have interesting combinations, made tasty, the service is great and very friendly, the place itself pretty good looking!

The sushi was very fresh and it tasted amazing! The service was great and the staff were very friendly. Didn't have to wait long for the food and the atmosphere of the overall restaurant was awesome.

Excellent service and delicious sushi. Our go to sushi spot. They use high quality ingredients and offer a great selection of appetizers and rolls. I can't emphasize enough that there is an elevated level of care that goes into this food. Any time I go to another sushi restaurant I'm disappointed and literally feel guilty for not going to Mori. They deserve the business more than any other.

Best sushi I've had in Chicagoland; have been coming here since 2018. Tae and Angie are simply wonderful and create beautiful food! We have tried a lot of the menu, but these are constants in every order: Summer Roll Ceviche Roll Spicy Salmon Roll Enjoy!

It was good for the area. Considering all the spots in the area the food was good. They only had one chef when we were there and so the service was slow. It took about 45 mins to get our food. The rolls are good in taste but not big. You need 2-3 per person. I ordered the chirashi which was good overall but the slides of fish were SO small. It felt kinda like they turned the scrapings into a piece of sashimi. The taste and quality of the fish was good but I think the sashimi is about half the size of other places.

This place will no disappoint you, very different and tasty rolls, fish is always fresh and every time we've gone there for dinner service was great, give them a try

Service: they were very kind and attentive. Atmosphere: very nice. The lighting was at the perfect level. Loved the upbeat music and it wasn't so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. Food: honestly my favorite sushi in the area. I'm not a big Cali roll person, but this one was very light and fluffy and Truely enjoyed it. My favorite was the sunshine one with the citrus! So good! We also had the mango, golden Cali, and crab Rangoon. All were so good. The only miss for me was the mango avocado veggie roll, just a texture thing for me. But overall so good :)

Good food, but expensive. We had take out and it took over 75 mins nice lady who took the order.. didn't eat in so no comment on ambiance..

My favorite sushi spot in area. Tried almost the whole menu now and all their sushi is excellent. Some of my favorite rolls include ocean drive and crazy. Quiet and cute spot !! Would highly recommend.

Since moving to the area 6 weeks ago I've tried 4 different sushi places. Mori Sushi is by far the best in the area that I've tried so far. My best in the area only refers to nigiri, not the "fancy" rolls as I don't order those. This place is always quiet and the server is nice.

Went there for the first time yesterday. Sat at the booths and the ambiance was super chill. We tried the gyoza- it was lightly fried and super tasty! My husband had the Californian roll and salmon roll, they were so fresh and delicious, specifically the temperature of the rolls. I went out of my comfort zone and tried the recommendation that brought me here in the first place, the Crunchy roll. It was delicious! Next time I'd love to try the ex-girlfriend roll or any of the other fried rolls. Highly recommend and we will be back.

I love this place. Always amazing food and the husband and wife that own/run it are the sweetest people ever. Very nice setting as well. Definitely recommend.

Never received my sushi order. Tried calling the location numerous times to check on the order. NO ONE picked up the phone and it went to voicemail each time. I also got double charged on my credit card for this order. Frustrated and disappointed is an understatement. Will not be returning!

This place is great! The freshness of the sashimi was so good. The roles we chose were also so good and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will be returning!

Don't let the outside of Mori Sushi fool you! It is in a small shopping area and the outside does look a little rundown. However, the sushi was absolutely amazing. The inside looked cute and cozy, but they are currently only offering takeout and delivery due to COVID-19. I placed my order around 6 on a Friday night and it was a 45 minute wait (a little longer than expected, but I think they have a reduced staff right now, so no problem). The 12 piece sashimi deluxe was very good. They actually gave us 16 pieces instead of 12. The sashimi slices were on the small side and a couple of them were a little too cold from sitting on ice (and I had a 20 minute drive home for them to thaw.) The white tuna and tuna were very fresh. Salmon had a nice texture and flavor. Our favorite was definitely the yellowtail: amazing flavor and super refreshing. As for rolls: Spicy tuna was excellent. You can tell a lot about a sushi restaurant based on their spicy tuna roll. This had just enough punch and a bit of a slow burn. Very fresh and yummy. Pink Cadillac surprised us the most. It was shrimp tempura and crab meat with pico on top. The pico gave it such a great flavor and it was a unique twist we haven't tried before Hungry roll was spicy and delicious. A couple of pieces were a little too cream cheesy. I think this one would have been a lot better immediately instead of after driving it home. Mori roll was very refreshing. The jalapeño was sweet without any spice and it gave the roll a nice crunch. I do think the balsamic soy sauce was not very flavorful. With yellowtail, avo, and a sweeter jalapeño, I think a citrus sauce would have been really nice. In all, very impressed with Mori! The rice had a nice stick to it and none of the rolls fell apart. Even after traveling home 20 minutes the fish was still fresh with great flavor. Also, their ginger was perfect! There are so many rolls on their menu we want to try, so we will definitely be back!

Definitely a great sushi place. Have been there once for dine in and once for take out. The interior is very nice, clean, and feels a bit more upscale. The service has always been good. Just note, you might need a reservation for busier times like evening. Sushi has always been extremely flavorful. Ingredients taste fresh and high quality. Sushi menu has a good amount to pick from ! Definitely a good place to go. My only complaint is that sometimes the rolls fall apart. I typically don't have that at many places but for some reason every time I get a roll they fall apart easily. Favorite rolls have been King Kong and Spicy Tataki. Both great. Menu prices are average to high for sushi.

I order from here often. The food is always delicious.. Today I had my first Summer Roll. Holy cow! This roll was outstanding. Inside is scallop dynamite mix and cucumber. It was topped with incredibly fresh salmon, house made pico de gallo, and ponzu sauce. The flavors are so good together.

In such a changeable world , the taste of sushi, tempura, miso soup and their service are unchangeable !!! SO TASTY and VERY NICE staff and chef !!! And package for take out look very nice and super clean too !!! Thank you so much for your wonderful food and service !!!

Definitely worth checking out! Currently doing only takeout, Mori Sushi offers a wide selection of traditional as well as creative menu items. Been a handful of times and each time was a consistent very good experience. The California Rolls may very be the best in the area especially with the black rice option. Highly recommended. Other items I tried that stood out: The Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll .. definitely one of my favorites. The Hungry Roll .. funny even when literally so stuffed that thinking of eating anything else made me sick, I kept going back for more of these. Now I know where it gets its name from. True story! Found these pleasant: Ocean Drive Roll Mori Roll Just so so: Crispy Tuna Salmon Appetizer .. looked better than it tasted. It looked amazing! I don't know maybe it was just me. While the rolls were all quite good, what was disappointing was the nigiri sushi. At least on this evening. The tuna, salmon, and super white tuna nigiri was just middle of the road at best and was packed with lemon wedges between each piece. This is a great trick if you need to hide the flavor of not so fresh fish. With fresh fish, it literally wrecks the taste and in my book simply a do not do. Every piece was overpowered with lemon flavor. It was this specifically why I gave four and not five stars. This all said, Mori Sushi is a must try at least once. Happy dining

Absolutely incredible, love their hamachi dish. Our servers recommendations were fabulous and met all our needs and wants with sushi. Would strongly recommend.

I've only ordered through door dash and they are exactly what you'd expect. Philly roll, sea weed salad were pretty good but we didn't order anything crazy. Prices are average with other Japanese restaurants.

Holy Cow, this place is fantastic!! The sushi is fresh and tasty, and they have a wide variety of rolls. We've been looking high and low for a great sushi spot that isn't in the city and this is the place!! The owners were friendly and helpful and know their food. If you want great sushi, come here....and fyi, the shumai and gyoza were awesome too!!

I could give this place 10 Stars! Best sushi we have had in a long time! We typically don't like take out sushi but this was so fresh and delicious! Curb side pick up was perfect!

Was very surprised by this hidden gem. Located in a small strip mall, I'm going to be honest, I did not have high hopes. I WAS WRONG! Will definitely be back!! If you are looking for fresh sushi definitely check this place out!! The ocean drive roll was absolutely delicious!!

Best Sushi around. No soy sauce needed. The fish is good quality unlike stations. Best Miso around also. Mori is open Mondays which is great. Service was on point. Clean interior.

Amazing sushi! This is our second time ordering from them and they do not disappoint. The Ceviche roll is by far my favorite. We also ordered spicy tuna roll, pink cadillac( 2nd favorite) and the Totoro kani roll! All were amazing! The spicy edamame is also great! Great price, great food and really helpful staff!

The sushi here is intelligent. Vibrant, calculated flavors that simply adhere to Japanese excellence. Yep; lot of places popped up around here, though this should( I emphasize should) grab you by the short and curlies... Incredible attention to detail, presentation, execution, and dare I say different? Can I say that? Am allowed to call a strip mall sushi place different? Don't care,; I'm gonna run with this one... The rice- always perfect and of great quality The fish- decadent and chosen well by the chef. Nori- yes, yes please Combinations- endless Price- you truly get what you pay for here Service- simply damn good people trying to make it happen. In short, the BEST around!

GO HERE. GO TO THIS PLACE. I've been going here since it was Kaminari, then it was Sushi Moah, now it is Mori Sushi. The staff is great and it is amazing. I don't fancy myself a sushi connoisseur, I like what I like, and I'll try new things. I've had fancy sushi, and grocery store sushi (don't judge!), but theirs is my favorite. Their rice is always perfect. The spicy is always amazing without burning off your tastebuds. And the service is great. Everyone that works there is kind and tries to give you a great experience. Their sushi chef is AWESOME, sit at the bar and chat with him. They now serve black rice (which we were given a sample of), and it was very cool! We also tried their new cucumber salad appetizer, which was GREAT. My husband and I are planning to try all of their specialty rolls. And they changed their menu layout that details what's inside, and outside, and what the sauce is. It is super helpful!

Fresh, delicious sushi rolls! The best in the area in our opinion. We always get the ceviche roll, hot night, mango/tuna, tuna/avocado & spicy tuna with jalapeños. Only open for take out right now, but highly recommend. Very friendly staff as well.

Decided to gIve it a try after a recommendation from a friend. Ordered a few special rolls to try for my first to time. Chose the Bulls and White Sox rolls to start my first experience. The phrase thinking outside the box is an understatement. The rolls were so delicious that I wished I had ordered more. I have to say that I am looking forward to more experiences at Mori to more of their creative rolls that they have.

We love this place so much! The food is always so fresh and delicious!! The staff is so nice as well!! I recommend this place to anybody that loves sushi!! Any time we can sneak this place into conversation we do, my fiancé gave a speech to her whole class about how great this place is lol. It's just an added bonus that the workers feel like family. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so nice but because of Covid-19 we will definitely be ordering Mori sushi for quarantine.

Incredible sushi - as a sushi lover and fan, I thoroughly enjoyed every roll. As a table we ordered 5 rolls to share (Algonquin, Summer, Ocean Drive, bulls row, and a kamikaze) and all of them were excellent. We also shared a sashimi sampler and the fish was very fresh. I would highly recommend this place, i can't say enough good things about it. It looks tucked away in a small strip on Algonquin but it definitely was an instant favorite.

Absolutely outstanding!! My wife n I order here several times a month. Just the best, most creative, freshest sushi ever!! It is owned by the nicest young couple. This place deserves your business n you deserve this amazing sushi!! We love the Boston roll, Mori blossom and Mori roll, Ocean drive, Hawaiian roll. But definitely get the Mori blossom.

Being one of a few Asian living in the McHenry county for over 1 decade, we have always made the trips to Chicago, or at lease Schaumburg, Arlington Heights areas for all Asian cuisine as the local ones are very Americanized in a bad way. We intended to go to the Taco El Norte for Mexican one Friday night and discovered Mori instead. After the 1st meal, I was totally sold. I even told the hostess what are you guys doing here in Lake in the Hill? You should have been in Chi downtown to be recognized!! Well, lucky for us! The sushi rice is sticky enough to hold its shape without falling apart, but not too sticky to change its texture. The amount of vinegar and the rice is done just right. The rice to ingredient ratio is perfect in every roll that you never feel the flavor is diluted. The presentation is superb. Every roll is unique and feel like they are prepared with attention to the tiniest details. The vegetarian options are plenty and tasteful. Which is important with a vegetarian wife. We even had our Valentine's dinner just yesterday with only vegetarian rolls. And they are so good even for a meat eater... Unlike most of the sushi joints that use couple of sauces and just rolled up differently, each roll has it's unique flavors, texture make ups, and presentation at Mori . We have tried 7 rolls in 2 visits. In short, we can NOT believe the best sushi joint we have found in metro Chicago land is right here locally considering the amount of trouble we have endured to find good ones around town. And I hope more people would appreciate it to support them......

Best sushi in the area! I've tried them all, and when this one opened recently I'm like, well, gotta try this one too. And I've been here almost every week since! Every thing I've had here has been delicious and the staff is always super friendly. Red Dragon Roll, Mori Roll, Hot Night roll, Ceviche Roll, Spicy Crabmeat roll, Spicy Tuna. All great. And if you really want a calorie bomb, the Heart Attack appetizer is delicious (deep fried jalapeno, cream cheese, tuna). And when you're done, the Mocha Cheesecake is delicious. So as you can tell, I'm a fan. Eat all the things!

Probably the best sushi in the area. Been to lunch here multiple times and everything is fresh and delicious. The black rice option is so flavorful, and is worth the small upcharge from white. Looking forward to more frequent visits to try the other menu items. The couple that run the restaurant are so kind and friendly. I hope more people visit this hidden gem. In the same strip mall where the Clark gas station is (although there was major construction in the parking lot. Not sure if the station was being removed)

This sushi is DELICIOUS!!! Angela, our server is so thoughtful. She reminds us about the black rice without sugar (MUCH healthier!) that they now serve and we love the taste and texture ...worth the small up charge to enjoy it!!! Always fresh sashimi and spicy miso!! We appreciate their personalized service ALWAYS!! There you have it!! ENJOY!!

This place is, surprisingly, very high quality. It is tucked away in an aging strip mall a few blocks East of Randall on Algonquin, and does not catch the eye. Actually, I accidentally ordered takeout from them thinking they were another nearby Japanese restaurant. It was a happy accident, though. I have been back several times, and the food is consistently excellent. Rolls, sashimi, tempura, all of it very fresh and beautifully made.

Fresh food well presented that tastes good. Pleasant staff, nice interior all tucked out of the way in a strip mall. Worth looking for!

This IS my favorite Sushi restaurant.....The young couple that runs it, Tay and Angie are always creating something new or even ordering it special for us the week before. We are here weekly during the work week and are never disappointed. Tay has a unique talent of coming up with something new that uses only the freshest and healthiest ingredients that he melds together seamlessly. They feel like family. My only recommendation is to come during the week as Fridays can get pretty hectic with people dining in or taking out. You may have to wait a little. Place is a little pricey but fair as their fish and ingredients used have always been fresh and full of healthy flavors. Hands down one of my top 3 places to eat and certainly my favorite sushi restaurant. I would drive in from the city to eat here.

We had a wonderful experience at Mori two days ago. We hadn't visited since Kaminari closed and were not sure what to expect. I found everything from the service, to the menu to the food to be far superior to the old restaurant. Inventive rolls and superb quality. We arrived around 8:30 after what I assume was a busy dinner rush and were quickly seated. We were the last patrons there but were treated wonderfully and given lots of time to ponder the menu and enjoy one roll before ordering another. They were very accommodating as well, my husband has some weird allergies and they didn't bat an eye at our requests. I love that they have the option to wrap any of the rolls in cucumber. We can't wait to go back to Mori. Definitely check it out!

Kaminari is so delicious!!!! Really fresh, and high quality food :) The first couple times I've been there was when they first opened, and they were going for the super dark and classy kind of ambiance. But it was too dark!! My party and I were straining so hard to just read the menu, we were all sitting there with our cell phones out trying to light up the menu, or using the little candles on the tables to read by candlelight lol!! It was so silly!! A couple months later when I went back, they added some dim lighting, so I guess they caught on that it was too dark inside haha!! The dishes themselves are beautifully crafted, I always really pay attention to and appreciate plating styles and aesthetics. The food is also very fresh, and before you complain about the prices, realize that you get what you pay for! It is fresh, delicious, and totally worth every penny :)

Great sushi, quality you'd expect downtown! Everything we've tried has been fantastic. We will definitely be back again. Update: they got rid of the happy hour, and our rolls fell apart Hoping this was just a one time experience....

Awesome rolls! Some different varieties and all tasty! Service was excellent too! We got the white Sox, Oceanside, and a couple of crispy rolls.

It was pleasant experience with service and food. They make their own tamago and sauces there. Definitely, I am coming back. This will be our stop for Japanese food in the area.

This place is awesome! It doesn't look too promising from the outside, but it's definitely a hidden gem. We've been here twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. It's not super cheap, but well worth the spend for the quality of sushi. The woman who runs the FOH is very attentive and welcoming. The lunch deals are very reasonable. We'll definitely be returning!
