Morimoto Maui - Review - Wailea - Maui - The Infatuation

"If you planned your trip to Maui for your honeymoon, anniversary, or fake engagement that you’re hoping will get you free stuff, Morimoto Maui should be on your fancy-dinner list. This restaurant is located at the Andaz Resort Maui, just off the shoreline of the insanely beautiful Mokapu Beach, which is why you should pay extra attention to the raw bar, and also why almost everyone has their phone out. After taking in the scenery, order the tuna pizza with fresh-caught raw ahi and anchovy aioli for the table because it’s one of the best things here, then focus on the sushi - though there’s also an impressive wagyu beef selection. And if you want a really big night - and have a good deal of money to spend - then the Morimoto Omakase, a $140 per person seven-course chef’s choice tasting menu, is the way to go. There’s also an extensive sake list to sip from while you figure out the best angle for a sunset picture." - Leah Ponichtera

My husband and I recently dined at Morimoto Restaurant in Hawaii and had an absolutely exceptional experience, thanks to our server and bar manager, Michael. From the moment we were seated, Michael's expertise and genuine passion for sushi and sake truly elevated our visit. He took the time to explain the nuances of each dish, recommended perfect sake pairings, and shared insights that made our meal not just delicious, but educational as well. The food itself was outstanding—each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Dessert was the perfect ending, perfectly crafted and incredibly delicious. Michael’s friendly demeanor, professionalism, and deep knowledge made our dining experience unforgettable. It's rare to encounter someone who is not only skilled but genuinely passionate about what they do. If you're visiting Morimoto in Hawaii, definitely ask for Michael—you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!

Food is generally wonderful like all other Morimoto locations we've been to. Ribs are always a fan favorite. Steak was delicious. The duck rice and shishito peppers were bland in flavor. Desert was great. Drinks were pricey and lacked punch, which should never be the case for such a classy place. Especially after dropping over $180 per person.

Google
Appetizers were not bad but rather ordinary - we had the poke tacos, fish carpaccio, and rock shrimp tempura. The 14 oz wagyu steak was way too salty that we could not even finish. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but everything was pretty underwhelming. Also, I was surprised that the appetizer plates were not switched out with dinner plates before the main dish, given that it was an upscale restaurant. The sunset views were nice.

We were a bit late and they were very accommodating. Greeted by very kind staff and seated on the patio to enjoy the ocean breeze. Mike was our waiter. Described everything and was so professional. Very low key vibe. Started with sticky ribs and cocktails. There was a minor issue with one of our orders and it was quickly and smoothly resolved. When we return to Maui we will certainly eat here again!

Amazing food and atmosphere. Had a sunset view table that put it over the top. Enjoyed appetizers, sushi and dessert. All were top notch. Definitely an awesome choice for fine dinner.

Holy Smokes! What an amazing meal/night! Everything was spot on. From the drinks to the main course to dessert. This place hit all the right notes and left us wanting more. Definitely get the shrimp tempura - the biggest reason I wanted to come back when we visited Maui again. But the short rib appitizer was spectacular and a MUST. I’m telling you! The Yellowtail is heaven, the Surf and Turf was second to none (the lobster was easily my most favorite I’ve ever had). The Cheesecake was to die for! And the malasadas and cream sauce were like clouds of magic. And AARON was our fantastic server. He was like a friendly next door neighbor. What a friendly, informative, and attentive waiter. What a great experience!

Having been raised on Maui, I’ve dined at nearly every restaurant on the island and our experience at Morimoto was truly exceptional. Our server, Michael, went above and beyond to make the evening memorable, sharing genuine aloha alongside some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Morimoto is one of the best in the game for a reason — the menu is thoughtfully crafted and executed beautifully by the Maui team. Even the simplest dish, like the Hamakua mushrooms, was outstanding. Some other standouts for us were the surf & turf, the A-5 Wagyu, and the Brussels. Mahalo for the wonderful experience!

Food was beautiful and so delicious. Every time we eat here it never disappoints. Our server Aaron had great food recommendations and service was wonderful. Highly suggest eating outside, beautiful atmosphere.

Yelp
Nancy was really lovely! Andrew was fabulous in seating us by the pool at sunset hour! Fish carpaccio my favorite and the cod with miso sauce! Highly recommend this gorgeous setting!

Yelp
Went there for dinner. Hubby had to call to make a reservation; all the dinner slots are always blocked for online reservations (not a fan of this strategy). Location is unbeatable, and the ambiance is nice. We were seated outside, but it was already dark, so we didn't get to see the famous ocean view they mention. Maybe next time for happy hour. There was a bit of a luau happening at some point; it was ok, but I can live without it (gave White Lotus S1 vibes). Sushi and sashimi were spot on, just great. I tried a couple of Passion Pau Hana; highly recommended if you like Midori. Try the sticky ribs, you won't regret it. We had the Ishi Yaki Bri Bop for the main course. The tableside cooking was a nice experience. They mentioned it's a signature dish because Morimoto won Iron Chef with it, but for me, it was just ok. The fish had a substantial bloodline, which made it unpleasantly fishy. I know some chefs leave it on purpose for extra flavor, but it was a total miss for my palate. Overall, good (and kinda pricey) experience, but not mindblowing. We would probably return.

Yelp
Not only is the location unbeatable--but the food and service at Morimotos is next to none. Sticky rib- YES! Sake flights - YES! Waygu - YES! Definitely a must go to if you are in wailea/kiehi and love fresh fish/meat and amazing service
google avatar

Yelp
Wow wow wow! I loveddddd this experience from world renowned iron chef morimoto! This is a must visit restaurant on the island of Maui. The fish is fresher than ever and the drinks are so unique and beautifully constructed. The aesthetics and service are one in a million. It's a bit of a difficult find unless you're actually staying at the hotel but there's plenty of people to help guide the way. I loved the sushi and I wish the tacos were all you can eat because I could've indulged myself endlessly. Thanks chef morimoto for bringing this gem to the Hawaiian islands.

Yelp
Such an amazing meal in Maui! Every dish we ordered was absolutely amazing. Shout out to our waiter Michael who had so much knowledge about each dish. This meal was our favorite on our trip. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We actually didn't have high expectations because it's a hotel and high turn tables so we were pleasantly surprised to say it was fine. Food was tasty, but unremarkable. The dining room was busy and never slowed down, but it was never too loud. Service was really good for the first half of the meal, but we struggled to find our waiter at the latter half of the meal. When we did flag him down, he was very personable. We wouldn't come again, but it's a fine choice if you're staying at the hotel as we were.

Yelp
Such a fun fun dinner! We came here three years ago for the first time and it was a highlight - we couldn't wait to come back. They've just changed the menu and we were excited about the new offerings! Maui onion roll and soft shell crab roll were our favorites, and the sticky ribs are mind blowing. The Malasadas for dessert are not to be missed!! Service was incredible, ambience was lively. We hope to be back again before another three years go by!

Yelp
The food itself is very good but be prepared for a hefty tab. Also, I wouldn't qualify this place as toddler/kids friendly especially if you plan to use a stroller or even ADA friendly. Why? The restaurant is at the 'bottom' level of the Andaz and they do not elevator! Yup, you have to take the many stairs down to get the restaurant. The waiter told us they have a golf cart to take people up to the lobby if necessary. As for the food, it was on point. We started with the popular tuna tartare, pot stickers, and the wagyu beef carpaccio. The tuna tartare comes with a side of 6 condiments so you can mix as and how you please...highly recommend it. Skip the pot stickers, it wasn't spectacular yet expensive. Wagyu beef carpaccio is another must try because the sauce was outstanding. The hubby had the fresh catch of the day and I ordered the yellowtail in hot bowl. Both were good. The kids had the rock shrimp and beef filet which were also good. We wrapped up the meal with their mousse dessert that was decadent.

Yelp
This is our 2nd time at this Morimoto location, Maui. This one located in Andez hotel, down by the pool. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Reservation: via open table. Not too crowded and not too loud. Good for family. Our server is amazing and super friendly. Restroom: 2 individual gender neutral restrooms. We ordered: Sticky ribs - comes in 3 pieces - nice flavor and come off the bones Lobster fried rice - not a fan of this one, they use basmati rice, not as good as they use japanese rice and a bit too oily. A5 miyazaki japanese wagyu - min 3oz. They should use any sauce, let the wagyu shows its own flavour. Too thick of a cut, so you still have to chew a bit more instead normally it melts in your mouth. Calamari tempura salad - too much breading on the tempura and the dressing was too sour. Sashimi platter 14pc - good. Guava flow drink- nice Pina faux tito drink- very refreshing Overall ok. I still like the one in Vegas better.

Yelp
Fantastic meal, sunset view, and especially service. Michael was one of the better servers I've had in some time, and was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu from drinks to food that fit our vibe for the night. What I really appreciated was how caring and welcoming he was on our first night on the island celebrating our anniversary. The gyoza and sticky ribs and giant tasty salad + sushi really hit the spot on the comfort food levels. Can't wait to try more of the finer dishes on the menu on our next visit.

Yelp
Hands down the best sushi I have ever had! We had our anniversary dinner overlooking to ocean and we are so happy we landed here. Everything was amazing, including the service. They even had a little dessert surprise for us! It was on the pricier side, but we didn't mind splurging for our anniversary trip.

Yelp
Morimoto Maui is located in the Hyatt Andaz Wailea hotel. Valet parking only. The restaurant is all the way down to the ground floor from the hotel lobby. The staff will direct you courteously. Once in the restaurant, I requested indoors and received a table with a view of the ocean. It was peaceful and relaxing. I ordered the braised black cod with sushi rice. The cod was well marinated in sake soy sauce. It is mostly ala carte so u can customize your lunch. I then ordered a wonderful chocolate macadamia cake. It was delicately flavorful of subtle sweetness. The service was great, timely and courteous. I will return here whenever in Wailea again.

Yelp
This is my second time to Morimoto and both times have been a 10/10 experience. Our service, the food, and the timeliness of the restaurant is amazing. We had bao buns, friend rice, sticky ribs, spicy tuna roll, and some nigiri and sashimi! Our waiter was fantasticccc
google avatar

Bianca I.

Yelp
The food was good - sticky ribs being our favorite dish. Be ready for a very large bill albeit small portions (however as to be expected on the beach at a beautiful hotel) . Also the service was very slow and our server was not the friendliest. The tables are very close together so we could hear every word of the loud couple next to us which was a bit awkward and unpleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed our evening at Morimoto! Though we had our kids taggging along, we appreciate the service and the efficiency getting us done with dinner My kids ate- salmon roll and Tuna roll We had popcorn shrimp- which was a great start done 2 ways but I don't know if the sauce was needed? We also ordered the A5- very good! Mushrooms and duck rice- both excellent sides Dinner- masaladas- yummy Thanks team Morimoto!

Eric W.

Yelp
I returned from last year. Menu slightly different. Less for me to order. I found the food underwhelming. The edamame was fine, the shishito peppers were tasteless. Bland. I had an ishi yaki buri bob. Yellowtail fish with rice, pickled vegetables. The meal is served in a 500 degree hot bowl. The fish is cooked to your liking on the inside of the bowl. Very cool concept. I felt not much taste and the fish taste overtook the rest of the ingredients. The cheesecake desert was equally underwhelming. The service was excellent, the manhattan was excellent, the view excellent. I don't eat sushi so my choices were limited. It was a very enjoyable night, but the food was not the focus or memorable.

Yelp
This was our best meal in Maui! I told our server that the food was only outdone by the wonderful service. Impeccable. Each dish was well-prepared, well-seasoned, and presented beautifully. The setting was perfect, and there was a luau next to the restaurant that we were able to watch.
google avatar

Amelea J.

Yelp
We had a large party to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday. We strategically set our reservations the same time luau was going on. You should check the luau times before hand. I would say the sticky ribs and the ube cheesecake is the fan favorite. I will be going back for more !! That was amazing !!

Yelp
First timer at Morimoto's! First off the location is pristine. It is located at the Andaz hotel and is very close to the beach. The sunset views are incredible. We started off with a couple of cocktails. My wife had hula laka and really enjoyed it. I went with the old Smokey and was very pleased. We did the duck fried rice as an appetizer. I would say it was good but not great. Then we did the 10 piece nigiri and a spicy salmon roll. It was good sushi, but there wasn't anything that made it stand out compared to other sushi that I've had. Now for dessert we had the Ube cheesecake and it was unbelievable!!! In regard to the service it was top notch! The ambiance was amazing. Overall I rated it 4/5 stars just because I thought the food could have been a touch better. Everything was good but other than the cheesecake nothing blew me away as better than what I've had before. Hope this helps! Would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Yelp
It was so good, we visited twice during the five days we were in Maui. Despite the many restaurants at Wailea all within walking distance via the beach walk, after the first dinner of excellent sushi rolls and the crispy flavorful ribs, we had to go again the next night. The best dinner we had in Maui, and there is plenty of competition in the area. The second night, they remembered us and sat us outside while the luau was performed. A free luau show for the price of a meal at Morimoto! Get the ribs for sure! Best ribs ever and they are the exact same ribs you get at Morimoto Asia in Florida.
google avatar

Victor W.

Yelp
Largely what you expect from a "brand" experience. Good for kids and families. My main disappointment was being asked if I wanted fresh wasabi on my nigiri for an up charge. I've never been at a high end sushi restaurant that didn't just use fresh wasabi and include it in the price so I found that odd but I could understand the value of choices. Then to my surprise they didn't put it on directly the sushi but served it on a side dish. At these prices, I'm expecting an expert sushi maker who will craft the perfect sushi with the right amount of wasabi - not DYI. This would be like asking if I wanted premium rice and then putting it on the side for me to put on my sushi for extra or on sashimi to make nigiri myself. Coursing was also off that night with the entrees arriving very late. The restaurant has a cool vibe but honestly wouldn't go out of your way. It's a fine hotel restaurant for guests.

Yelp
Staying at the Andaz, I booked a reservation here for our anniversary dinner. It was ok. We ordered about 5 items and they were good, but didnt blow me away. I really enjoyed the yuzu cocktail I ordered, but that was really the only highlight. BTW if you want to see the Andaz luau, consider booking a dinner reservation at Morimoto as it directly in front of the luau lawn and they have lots of outdoor seating. The biggest issue with our experience was actually service. We explained to our waiter that we are pescatarian and dont need a rundown of meat items on the menu. He proceeded to tell us that their meat items are actually great, listing each of them and its too bad we're "pescatarian or whatever" ugh. We ordered a sushi set, I explained we dont eat egg, so no tamago and I specifically dislike saba. When the sushi arrived, the busser explained the nigiri items and pointed to the saba. When the waiter came around, I pointed out the saba and he proceeded to tell me I was wrong, just because it looks like saba, smelled like saba, I was told it was saba and had the accompaniments of saba, doesnt mean it is actually saba and he named some other fish. What a shame we didnt have a better waiter for our 20th anniversary dinner.

Hey El El E.

Yelp
We were anticipating an amazing experience here as Morimoto is THE Iron Chef. Summary: good food, bad timing for food. One of the dishes was the duck. We were told it was going to take 30 minutes to cook. No problem. It took about 45 minutes. No warning. No update. There were 4 of us. Two dishes came out together. The third dish came out about 5-10 minutes later. The last dish was sushi and it came out last, which was basically after the first two dishes were already eaten. We were trying to be understanding until we remembered that 2 of our side dishes never even made it to our table. We asked the waiter about the missing dishes. He didn't apologize. Just said he's going to check on it. We waited 20 minutes and were told it was coming out. Nope. All of us finished our dishes so there was no point in having these dizhes served. We cancelled them and were given a "my apology" apology versus comping or even the manager coming out to apologize properly. The front of the house definitely needs work. It's unfortunate that a great chef's restaurant tarnished what could've been the icing on the cake for our Hawaii experience.
google avatar

Chase W.

Yelp
Amazing food, customer service was very good. Loved how the servers and host were very friends and attentive with our table. Long wait on the food but it's was so worth it.

Heather M.

Yelp
Gorgeous view and very delicious! The wagu carpaccio is life changing! Also really enjoyed the hamchi carpaccio. Definitely a step above the standard fare
google avatar

Scott P.

Yelp
We had a reservation at 5:15. We showed up 10 minutes early. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet the hostess kept us waiting for 15 minutes. When I approached again, asking if we could be seated, she rudely acquiesced, as if I were putting her out. The last time we visited, we dined at Morimoto 3 separate times.. it was excellent. However, we had been advised that the quality had gone down. As we were so turned off by the poor service and attitude, we did not stick around to experience the cuisine. Service is everything... and we will not be back.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
We have been coming to Morimoto every year when we are back in Maui and have had great experiences until this time. We ordered this yakitori skewer dish and it came out with flames. Presentation was nice but not practical. With the wind, the flame was blowing towards me and had to use the chopstick to push it away from me. The sticks are made of metal so it was super hot to touch. The worst part was all the food was burnt on the side facing the flame. The server and manager came to apologize and replaced it with Seabass which was good but we had to wait around 30 minutes for the replacement dish while my partner's food was sitting on the table. Besides apologizing, nothing was offered during the long 30 minute wait for the replacement dish and when my partner had to watch me eat the seabass when it arrived.
google avatar

Nichia W.

Yelp
Note to anyone planning on going here, *their menu has been recently updated and it is not current on Open Table.* There is no chicken option. There are no bao buns. The chicken was literally the only reason I went, I was very disappointed and tempted to leave when I saw they removed the chicken option. I asked the server their opinion of the filet vs sea bass-they recommended the sea bass. I took one bite and I was done, too slimy & too fishy. The server came by, I told her I was done and she looked at me & left the plate. It wasn't until someone came by to fill the water a few minutes later that the plate was removed. It is in an amazing location. There is a wonderful vibe. If you love expensive steak or seafood, I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.
google avatar

Nyssa R.

Yelp
They called us 15 minutes before our reservation to cancel it. They said it was because they were "short staffed". Really disappointing, this doesn't feel like quality restaurant behavior. Careful when reserving! Glad they saved us a trip. Our reservation was under Murphy Pelot at 8:45 pm on Saturday.
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
I had lunch here last Wednesday and it was an incredible experience. I sat at the bar on the patio with an incredible view. My bar tender/ server was a gentleman named Garrett. Great service, he explained a couple different options of ways to enjoy the food experience, I went with the lunch special with wine pairing. Wow! everything I ate was amazing. The wines that they paired were very complimentary. My favorite was the first red that was a Morimoto wine. Favorite dish was honestly the sticky ribs, the A-5 Nigiri and the Wagyu Bop. The Wagyu melts in your mouth. I also tried a couple pieces of fish. The red snapper was amazing! Thank you Garrett for the amazing service and suggestions! I will be back! I mean, look at that view! Mahalo!
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Ignore the 3.5 rating on yelp. It has a 4.5/5.0 on open table with over 4000 reviews. It is that good. Hands down best sushi we have ever had. Everyone was raving about the sticky ribs, so guess we will have to come back later and try during their wagyu and wine lunch tasting (yes please!). Update: went to the Wagyu tasting. Added some of the pictures. Fantastic by themselves but the wine pairings were so one point with each of the 4 courses.
google avatar

Amelia A.

Yelp
UPDATE: Went to Morimoto's one more time and the service and tasty food prompted me to give them 5 stars! We tried two new appetizers: pork bao bun, rock shrimp tempura. Both were surprisingly more delicious than expected.Enjoy! Original Review: Plan on it being expensive, make your reservation early. The pot stickers, ahi tacos, sticky ribs, sides of hamakua mushrooms roasted veggies & sushi rice. The sides made a great veggie meal for me! Everything was umami delicious! We also ordered a few sushi rolls but wish we didn't. save your $$$ for something else.. The surprise was the ube cheesecake. OMG!! If you're not into the tableside flaming chocolate sphere with banana mousse, get the cheesecake! It's light and the sauce is so good!! Appreciated the casual alfresco ambiance with the option to be family-friendly casual or dress-up. Beware of all the steps. In my opinion, it's not a high-heel friendly location, unless you have someone carry you! Although there are probably elevators and ramps to make it accessible. Service was slow in the beginning so gave it 4 stars.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Amazing! We loved every bit of it! If you're not staying here it could be a bit confusing on where to go... we didn't actually know this was in a resort until we arrived. You have to walk outside down many terraces to the bottom pool level where the restaurant is. It has outdoor seating and the indoor seating still feels like you're outside. It's very bright, almost too much. But beautiful and clean. The quality of food was excellent, great presentation and fresh. We also had the Ube cheesecake which wasn't my choice but it was amazing! Very unique and not too sweet.

Alice S.

Yelp
Morimoto didn't disappoint! It's been 10 years since we came here - this place brought special memories to our little family. We sat outside right by the beautiful pool and lovey lighting. Food was great but more importantly, we had the most amazing service with Sean. He's knowledgeable, attentive and with a great sense of humor. Every dish was explained to us with great details and we appreciated the local ingredients used. The best dining experiences during our stay in Maui! Mahalo!
google avatar

Vaughn M.

Yelp
Morimoto is absolutely incredible. The ice cold beers and the view is something you can't beat. Our server outside,Garrett, was so sweet! Thanks again
google avatar

Jeremy H.

Yelp
Food was inconsistent and generally overpriced even for Maui, omakaze main course was terrible with undercooked potatoes and thin dry wagyu. Sushi is pretty average, nothing special with how the nigiri is prepared, with no accompaniments within the nigiri, only wasabi on the side DIY style. Service was also inconsistent, not acknowledging that this was a birthday dinner for my wife (despite marking that on the reservation), forgetting to follow-up on my wife's potato refire, and poor timing of the meals. Sticky ribs are very good but other than that I'd recommend to save your money and go somewhere else. It very much feels like a chain restaurant trying to be a fine dining establishment. The beautiful view unfortunately does not make up for the inconsistent food and service here.

Yelp
First, a word to potential diners: this is a world-class four dollar sign restaurant. The ingredients are very costly and the preparation highly skilled. Don't give it one star because you think it's expensive. Pro tip: come for lunch. Easy to get a reservation and everything is more relaxed. It's also a beautiful hotel. Now the review: Stellar service, laid back atmosphere. Detailed and skilled preparation of dishes. I strongly recommend sharing plates among your group. Most dishes share well and everyone gets to try the full range of flavors and ingredients. Try things out of your comfort zone. Definitely order the wagyu carpaccio and sticky ribs to start. Marvelous textures and flavors. Try a sake flight to add to your tasting experience. The smoked cocktail and the Infinite Toki are also quite delicious. If you are a sushi lover, definitely get a chef's choice platter. Served with real grated wasabi (not fake green horseradish) and house pickled ginger, it's a perfect sushi experience. We also added some extra less fancy sushi to round it out. For example, the California roll may be a trope but perfectly prepared with real snow crab , it's a really delicious bite. We ordered entrees, including 4 ounces of A5 wagyu, the pork chop, and the fish bop cooked at the table in a screaming hot stoneware bowl. Wow! Impressive to watch the presentation and even better to eat. A5, properly prepared, has long been on my bucket list. It's so rich you can't eat much. It's nothing like American style steak. It's more like an exquisite rich mouth experience as opposed to a steak. A few bites suffice. Morimoto's does it right. They even showed us the beef certificate as proof of authenticity. The pork chop is excellent - made from specialty pork imported from Japan. Entree servings are generous unless you are ordering by the ounce. Smaller appetites may want to share. Don't forget the excellent desserts. This is a terrific restaurant and we enjoyed everything. Shout out to our server Michael. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is one of my go to favourite places in Maui. I prefer to dine here during the day where I can see the ocean and views more clearly. The food is really good here with fresh, good quality fish. They used to have the Mori Cristo and the king crab leg but last time I went, they no longer have those on the menu. It is slightly over priced for what it is but the experience and food is really great.

Sasha G.

Yelp
Best restaurant in the Andaz. Best food we had in Maui. Black cod is amazing. Be sure to make a reservation.
google avatar

Vinod G.

Yelp
Inside the Hyatt Andaz, this iron chef restaurant leaves not stone unturned in service, quality and uniqueness. The presentations were amazing and the flavor profiles impecable. Best short ribs I ever tasted! Dessert was flaming and delicious. The cocktails were amazing. A must visit in Maui
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
I have to be honest here. I feel like a complete heel as I only took one picture of the amazing food that came out of the kitchen here. Located in the Andaz resort, this gem is located down at the pool level. I say this, as it's about 100 stairs down to the pool level. With the wife wearing heels, it was a bit tricky especially at night as there simply isn't a great lighted walkway. If you do come here, get a ride from the valet down to the restaurant as they have a little cart that will take you there without having to traverse down the stairs of HE double hockey sticks!! Once we got inside, it was a simple and understated decor and decoration. Very much as I would assume that Morimoto wants. The focus is on the food and drink. We ordered a couple of drinks and the with got Pele's Kiss. Folks, simply an amazing drink that everyone should partake in, even if your not a foo-foo drinker like myself. We started with the Wagyu carpaccio which was as you can image succulent and flavorful and wish you could get about a pound of this stuff. We then got some sushi, with differing toro's (tuna) and wife getting sake (salmon) and a single roll, the sushi was well amazing. We then got our entree's which was for me a fish stew in a red Miso broth and the wife got the blackened Cod. My stew was delicate, sumptuous and a delight. The broth was complex and flavorful. Had a lobster tail, calamari, mussles and scallops along with a couple of full shrimp. Simply delicious. It was a wonderful evening with delicious food, and being this well known of a restaurant was considerably cheaper than other high end establishments. Absolutely love this place.

Yelp
Food n good service awesome experience with newer food tastes. The sashimi we ordered was cut too thin and looks more like an appetizer than an entree and is waay too expensive so opt for the other offerings that we really enjoyed. The rest of the food was really good. Ribs was insanely delicious, we also had the rice with beef cooked on our table and we also had the prawns with veggies and the sauce was on point. The only set back is if you are differently abled it will take you a long time to walk down the walk path Ramp etc and they should have an elevator access for disabled folks like our daughter. This is the Andaz hotel fault and not Morimotos. Valet parking is free ! Collin the manager, Read your reply and you are welcome. Andaz staff never offered the cart service when we asked the front desk staff about an elevator for our differently abled daughter. She simply said there is a walk path that can take us down or the steep stairs that is quicker. Not a disabled friendly facility at all and wonder how it passed the states requirement.

Yelp
ALOHA & KINDNESS MATTER!! Christmas Eve Dinner w my elderly disabled mom. Super disrespectful and condescending hostess with no class or tact who interrupted our dinner AT OUR TABLE to Apologize for scolding me in the bathroom because she walked in on me due to a faulty door lock. And went on an on explaining she couldn't lock me inside... well DUH that would be rude to lock your patrons in the bathroom. Maybe knock first and say excuse me? Please don't scold me and then continue the rudeness at my table by interrupting with an I sulting apology in front of my family. She also was rude when we checked in 5 minutes before our reservation, abruptly informing us their doors don't open until 4 and shut the door in our face.... Better approach would have been: Happy Holidays and welcome, we will be with you in 5 minutes when we officially open!! Can I get you anything g while you wait? The steak was super fatty and hardly Any meat on it. A doggie bag for sure. For the dog. Overall, a mid quality experience We would Never go to again. We live on the island and felt disrespected on so many levels. The managers response to our concerns were not met with any solution other than to book again on Open Table..... umm, what? No thanks. Terrible experience. Kindness matter! Please be kind!!

Yelp
Would not recommend. I would give zero stars if I could. Christmas eve dinner was a bust. Prawns were overcooked and hard to chew, prime rib was inedible and we fed most of it to our dog when we got home. In addition the the hostess was pretentious and disrespectful. When we wrote an email relating our concerns about our experience the response was basically, "sorry for your luck." This place caters to tourists who are only here for a short time but as locals who live on island I can assure you that we would never go back. Boo Morimoto's!

Yelp
Floor manager was awful- no empathy. Shocked he couldn't grasp a simple request. Waitress staff was great. Food was ok but avoid due to the floor manager. Not worth it.

Yelp
Went to celebrate passing the bar exam with my mom and glad she chose Morimoto's! We had reservations for 7:30pm but we got there around 7pm and the hosts were able to seat us earlier. Our server asked if we were celebrating anything special, and when I told him about the bar exam, he came back and brought us complimentary champagne to toast! Started off with the shrimp tempura roll and soft shell crab bao. Loved the shrimp tempura roll, and my mom and I were surprised to find that the bao only came with 1 serving. But I guess it was a good thing because although we split it, it was still very filling! I wish the crab was a bit crispier though. For our main dishes, I ordered the wagyu ishiyaki buri bop and my mom got the braised black cod with a side of rice. We also decided to split the hamakua mushrooms. Get the mushrooms! They were roasted perfectly and I loved the crunchy little bits. The fish was light and flaky and absorbed the soy-sake sauce very well. I didn't care too much for my buri bop, but will say the wagyu was good. All in all, it was a fun experience! Also for kamaaina - if you valet, Morimoto's validates!

Yelp
You're going to love this place. Anytime I visit Maui, This is on my must visit places. The andaz hotel Is stunning, so this restaurant is located with beautiful Scenery. You'll love their beef carpaccio, so much flavor. This along with their salmon sushi, it's a must visit. The service was great, always a smiling face.

Yelp
We have been on Maui for a few days and eaten at so many incredible restaurants (Merriman's, Banyan Tree, etc) and this was by far the best me we had. I can't praise them and their service enough! The waiter helped me with choosing an entree based on my gluten and dairy allergies, and wow I didn't expect it to be as incredible as it was. We ordered the Ishi Yaki Buri Bop and I have never had better yellowtail in my life. We are staying at the Andaz and making this our dinner spot every night we are here! I can't wait for tomorrow to go back!!

Yelp
Wow! I love my Morimoto Restaurants but this one was exceptional. The food was great, tasted similar to other Morimotos restaurants - one thing I wish was that there was some more specialty dishes with a Hawaiian twist. Other than that, food service was a normal wait time at a nice restaurant and the server was nice. We got to sit outside and went during the sunset so we got to see. There is also a Luau that was going on in the hotel so we got to see some bits and pieces of it as well!
