Google
Morning Glory baked my wedding cake with cupcakes on August 7, 2025. The cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious. I wanted something different that would remind me of flowers at sunset and Mary and team created just what I wanted. A tropical orange and yellow sunset cake with cascading flowers. Tier one was chocolate with chocolate mousse filling and the bottom layer was lemon with lemon filling. Each cupcake was designed with a flower on top with the same filling as the cake. I had 5 different floral designs on the cupcakes. It was amazing. We received so many compliments on the design of the cake and cupcakes and how moist and delicious they were. I highly recommend Morning Glory to make your wedding cake and wedding day spectacular! The tasting, set-up and delivery was on time and flawless too. Just the excellent service a bride and groom desires. No stress, just flawless service with a smile. Sincerely, Frank and Stacey

Google
Glorious. One of many cafe bakeries in the area but Morning Glory has much better hours. MG also has some spectacular baked goods that I have never seen before or never seen done so well. The service was a little grumpy but not bad. The interior of the cafe is really nice and cozy. I think my favorite thing was the baked goods I picked out which was a cheesy biscuit.

Google
The latte was pretty good. The interior of this place is really cool. Unfortunately, the service I experienced was terrible. I don’t know if they were having an off day or what, but they acted inconvenienced over a regular latte order.

David Petrat

Google
If I could give lower I absolutely would, Every single time I come in here I receive the most appalling customer service I’ve ever experienced. Employees are less than unenthusiastic; extremely un personable and always make sure to never serve you with a smile! Last time I was in I witnessed a young lady essentially be made fun of for the amount of pastries she ordered. I will never be spending a single cent here ever again.

Google
Custom cake baked for our 3 yo’s birthday party with a butterfly and wildflower theme and it was literally the most beautiful and delicious cake we’ve ever seen and eaten. Just outstanding. Thank you!

Hannah Kline

Google
We got our wedding cake after working with Mary from Morning Glory and it was perfect. The meeting, tasting and style selection was fun and inviting. What we asked for we received exactly. It was delivered on time with no issues. Highly recommend!

Google
My 1st time coming in (really a charming café). Not a coffee drinker, but it took everything in me to resist the Salted Caramel Brownie Latte (I’ll be honest, I don’t even know what it is, but the sound alone makes it worth trying). I chickened out and got the Raspberry iced tea (I’m used to playing it safe). Also enjoyed the ham & cheese croissant and the Yogurt parfait (with Greek yogurt, another 1st for me). All in all, I can see why this is an original favorite of Grosse Pointe Farms.

Google
This was my absolute go to literally everyday. I went in a wanted to purchase some pastries; I decided to purchase the last five donuts… the baker made a comment to me that stated “oh! Haha! Not going to save any for the rest of us?” And it made me reconsider my purchase because I felt bad about taking from anyone else that may have wanted one… she ended it with “I know you’ve done this before, so next time just give us a heads up…you can scan the QR code.” It made me feel silly and 100% made me uncomfortable and uninterested in ever returning, which is sad because I literally went here almost everyday.

Yelp
It was amazing the donuts and the scones are Only a thing that they can make. And the people that work there are really nice!

Yelp
We were looking to have coffee and dessert. My granddaughter loves matcha and they had it on the menu. First of all, there was no greeting when we came in. The place is nice and clean, but the layout is a little confusing. The desserts look great online and in the display case but not tasty. The gluten free cookie was ok but the brownie was mushy. The matcha was bad and the coffee is just ok. Strawberry parfait thumbs down, we threw mostly everything in the garbage The icing on the cake was when he asked me if was I going to pay for the items. My husband was there and still making his selection. Maybe he did not make the connection because we are a mixed-race couple, We didn't get a have a nice day or anything. I say don't waste your money or your time

Yelp
I stumbled into morning glory for a quiet spot for a book read and it felt like i walked into another world. The ambiance is amazing and is so quaint and old school. The seating wasn't too comfortable as to not keep me for the entire day but just enough to get a couple pages in. the staff is super friendly and they made my matcha really quick. It was a little overly sweet and didn't taste as earthy as I like my matcha to. There's street parking out front and overall a decent quick fix for a pastry and cup of joe

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Visited on Mother's Day to buy scones for my mom. When I went to pay with a 100 dollar bill I was denied so I told him I'll also take the $45 cake(outrageous) they still refused my money because i would have been owed $37 in change. okay

Yelp
On a popular Street in Grosse Pointe Farms. Charming outside seating. Street parking and a lot behind. As I walked in I was greeted by Patsy Cline on the radio. Upon first entry the shop is warm and inviting. The board is kind of small with coffee options and hard to read. I wanted a latte but both flavors I wanted were out of stock. Ended up getting a small coffee cost about three dollars. The cream was in little packets which I detest I'm not at McDonald's. The barista was more than happy to pour cold cream into my coffee but seemed taken back that I asked. It's 2 o'clock in the afternoon the coffee looks like it's been sitting out for a while. Even though I was told it was freshly made. It doesn't taste fresh. I took a few sips and threw it away. The pastries looked absolutely beautiful. The family sitting inside seem to be enjoying themselves. I'm always about supporting local coffee shops. However... old coffee no cold cream out of flavors Two stars from me.

Yelp
First 5 stars for the counter service everyone is always great!! But... I was thrilled to learn that a new pastry chef was taking charge at this cafe. Having moved to GP less than a year ago...Michigan, in fact, I've been eager to discover my go-to spots. Unfortunately, the offerings so far have been underwhelming. The seven-layer bar is muddled, the cupcakes are crumbly, and the croissants and other laminated pastries lack the finesse that indicates a skilled baker. As someone who makes kouign amann for holidays and seek out bakeries on my travels, I'd say I have a keen eye for well-crafted pastries, and the ones here don't meet that standard. I'm beginning to question the new pastry chef's credentials or whether she has properly trained her team. However, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, hoping they improve as they settle in and overcome any initial jitters.

Yelp
First impressions and atmosphere: Very cute and cozy. Nice gated, stonecarved courtyard for patio (heated) seating with a statue of a plump version of Michaelangelo's David, and indoor-outdoor fireplace as you walk into the shop. Oh, rrright. We're in boujee-land, kids! So, the indoor seating has an 'interesting' vibe with lots of safari-type decor; dark wood floors, highback chairs, high ceiling with lots of natural light. Then, you continue to walk into the middle part of the cafe with the display of the pastries, grab and go lunch items, and a menu which includes wine and mimosas (of course, in GPF): https://www.metroalive.com/include/pdf/10169-menu.11.18.pdf. The loo was clean, stocked, and warm. Not sure if there was background music playing. Service: Overall good. Friendly. Helpful. Knowledgeable. Victuals and Potables: Tasty pastries and visually appealing. We had the coffee, and just could NOT give it a fair score for taste because they had UHT mini moos for creamer. *cringe* Mini moos in coffee is like putting ketchup on a Wagyu steak, bumper stickers on a Rolls-Royce, and so on. *sigh* We had high hopes, Morning Glory. *IMO: Any coffee shop worth their salt offers REAL creamer. So, unless that changes, we will opt for tea instead.

Yelp
Morning glory coffee is a ok place to come but it is not the best. The ambiance was cold and the cake pop was mediocre. The coffee however was good and the staff was kind.Overall I wish I could give this more but it does not meet the standard.

Yelp
I went Christmas Eve in a panic when I realized I hadn't thought out what desserts I was bringing to Christmas dinner. Great selection everyone raved about all different things I got and the service was amazing

Yelp
I'd say it's all about the experience but it's so much more! While waiting for family, just down the street, I decided to go for coffee. Immediately, I fell in love with this romantically quaint and whimsical shop, it's a must see! I was greeted by a smiling, friendly face, helpful recommendations, and fabulous small town service! Yummy tasty treats paired with a hot, delicious mocha latte - win win!!!

Yelp
Place was a mess, we went at about 10am on a Sunday (too late I know). The waitstaff was very stressed, they weren't very responsive or communicative. After a long line when we got to the front after hearing all these orders go out for bfast sandwiches they were out... of course. So we ordered two everything bagels, only one came out and it was a plain bagel. The crowd was rude, folks behind us were saying "I wouldn't have come here if I thought it looked this shabby". It was fine looking inside, the pastries look tasty but the bagel was a Thomas' bagel and there was a side of Philadelphia cream cheese inside the plastic container. Definitely was not worth $6 due to getting 1/3 of what I ordered. Not to mention it took 25 minutes for 1 bagel. I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
I picked up a birthday cake out of the case. Lovely chocolate with white buttercream icing- pink with edible glitter and flowers. Even more delicious when at room temperature and all flavors can be most appreciated. When I received the cake, I was asked when was the actual birthday. Then a note was written on the box, " Happy Birthday Virgo," Very sweet! Thanks for making our celebration extra special!!!!

Yelp
What an absolutely charming little spot. I was waiting on a friend who is chronically late, so when he said he was going to be another hour, I figured I would find a coffee spot. Located in downtown Grosse Point, this little gem is everything I want in a coffee and bakery shop. They even have an outdoor seating area, which is heated in the winter and a fire place that is both indoor and outdoor. I only had a cappuccino, but the bakery items looked amazing. Street parking and there is a parking lot in back, so parking is a breeze. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and cozy. It's a quiet spot to sip on your coffee or tea on your own, or with a friend. If I wasn't going for lunch, I would definitely be having one of their decadent treats, but I'll have to save that for another day. I work in Grosse Pointe 1 day a week, so I'm super excited to find this!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! Stop in for a delicious pastry and hot coffee. Staff is very helpful and kind. Try it soon!!

Yelp
This is all about neighborhood. You feel immediately welcome. Excellent baked goods. Comforting.

Yelp
This is by far the best bakery that I have been to in Michigan. My daughter ordered her gender reveal cake and it could not have been better. Our sweet granddaughter was born so we ordered her baptismal cake there. There was a mix up and the cake was made on February 26 instead of March 26. Mary, an employee, was so kind and understanding. I will continue to do all of my business at Morning Glory....it is a class act. Jill Kapala Rockford, Illinois

Yelp
I love, love, love this place! They have been making both of my boys cakes for seven years now and they never disappoint. It's a warm and cozy little space. The staff are always so helpful & friendly. If you happen to find yourself in the area, I recommend the fruit tart with custard.

Yelp
I wish I could give zero stars. The coffee was good but I've never in my life been belittled by a barista or server the way the person serving me today had done. She shouldn't be dealing with people. She was TOXIC, angry, rude, not knowledgeable about anything on the menu and generally unpleasant. I am offering to pay this coffee shop weekly a small weekly stipend for a whole year just to ensure she no longer works and serves the general public. Please reach out to me directly if interested in this offer.

Yelp
Awful service. Came here and the lady at the counter claimed to be a secretary that was filling in and was incredibly rude with all of her responses. I got a cherry mocha and it was decent. I had looked forward to checking out this coffee shop because it seemed really cute, but we honestly did not want to stay after how we were treated. Do not recommend. I've never been talked to like this at any restaurant or coffee shop before.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem in Grosse Pointe Farms :o) From the moment you step onto the property, you know your experience will be extraordinary!!! From the initial point of service all the way to the icing of your cake, Morning Glory will provide amazing guidance and support to create the cake of your dreams. Our 60th birthday cake for my husband was not only beautiful, the flavorful, soft, decadent icing over the moist, gentle, lemon cake was nothing short of magical!! My husband and guests LOVED this specially crafted lemon-lemon cake!! Morning Glory Bakery exceeded our expectations. If you are considering a bakery, please allow Morning Glory to exceed your expectations as well!! ~Vaughn Family

Yelp
This review is for a quick to go order. I happened upon this place walking down Kercheval. The inside was super cute and seemed spacious. Looked like a good place to post up with a book. I got a small coffee. It was strong and fresh. Also, got an apple turnover. It was delicious, the crust was flaky and the apples flavorful. Reasonable prices too.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
We ordered a custom cake from Morning Glory for our Gender Reveal and it turned out perfectly! Good balance of frosting and crumb, a nice hint of lemon that wasn't overpowering, and a moist but light and airy crumb. We provided them a couple of pics of what we wanted, and they did the rest! Cake was ready for pickup on-time, and at a reasonable price. A+

Yelp
A privately owned coffee shop and bakery that's thrived for years. Fabulous pastries, memorable cakes and cozy seating.

Nancy B.

Yelp
I went there this morning for the very first time. I was very impressed with the friendly customer service by the young lady who helped me. I picked out a cake and she asked me if I wanted anything written on it. She did the writing is a black glitter and it looked great. My friend was very happy, since it was for her birthday. I would go back their again. Plus their display case was full with beautiful baked goods. Nancy Bruce

Amanda J.

Yelp
They have the best pastries in all of Grosse Pointe, in my humble opinion. The sugar cookies are literal works of art, the cakes are spectacular and the baristas were all very helpful in suggesting which assorted pastries would best serve an event I was attending. I would recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
I love this place! I finally stopped in this week and it's adorable. Had a gingerbread latte and sat in the main area, which felt like someone's ultra cool living room with lots of books and interesting decorations. There's a huge fireplace that connects the indoor bakery area to the greenhouse style patio. My latte was the perfect temperature and well made, and not too sweet. I can't believe I haven't been coming here the entire time - I'm excited to try their pastries, which looked incredible too. (They have GLITTER ON THEM. Oh my gosh. I need five.)
google avatar

Burt W.

Yelp
$5 for a tiny croissant. Overpriced & overrated. Not nearly as good as it used to be.
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
I really like the vibe inside of morning glory, particularly when the porch is set up and the first interior area has the fireplace lit--it is so cozy! However, the wi-fi is not great and disconnects frequently when I use it to work. however its a decent excuse to put away my laptop and read a book or meet with a friend instead. during the covid-19 shutdown, they've been able to stay open for carry-out drinks and baked goods which I really appreciate. They are also giving customers free dog bones, and took all appropriate steps to ensure customer safety. it's been a nice faux-normalcy to stop in and get an iced latte while walking my dog. I hope they are able to stay open through the covid shutdown!
google avatar

Anthony F.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with comfortable and inviting indoor and quaint outdoor seating to enjoy breakfast or afternoon lunch. Not a coffee drinker but they have a great variety of teas, pastries, sandwiches and salads.
google avatar

Marcus A.

Yelp
Hands down best coffee spot in the points! Basically the only action going on at the Hill, people working there are nice. Plenty of pastries if that's your thing. I go for the coffee and scones and usually stay for a meeting. Great place to work remotely or meet someone for some fellowship. Not sure why it has low reviews but probably because they don't pay yelp to advertise. Prices are actually reasonable for the high quality and ambiance. Skip your daily drive through Starbucks, stop in and support your local business owner, maybe even smile and say hi to somebody!

B S.

Yelp
Fabulous pastries and service! I picked up a selection of morning pastries and goodies for an office meeting downtown. Everything was fabulous including coffee cake, blueberry muffins, scones and chocolate croissants. Highly recommend! Cute and cozy place too!
google avatar

Yelp
With a Starbuck on every corner it's wonderful to see a magical coffee shop that looks like it came out of a storybook. The eclectic and warm interior matches the cute cobblestone outside. I love the outdoor seating that's even heated in cooler months. The pastry case is the shining glory of Morning glory. I talked to the owner and learned that everything is house made. The cakes and small tarts sparkled. While I wasn't in the mood for something sweet I made a note to go back another day. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant with a vanilla latte. Both were expertly prepared and they even heated my pastry up for me. The two people running the register and making drinks were not frazzled by the long line and busy shop. They were experts; efficient and kind. I will definitely be back again and again.
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet little coffee/tea spot. I like the enclosed patio area too. Mom and I had the raspberry ganache bite, the lemon square and an Egyptian Chamomile tea, all was so tasty and the staff are super friendly. Very mellow ambiance on the front enclosed patio. I like this place and well suited for GPF.
google avatar

Cijay A.

Yelp
What a pleasant experience the two ladies that helped us were really sweet. The price for coffee is very reasonable. I ordered an ice coffee and it came in a 20 oz. cup I'm not sure if they have different sizes but I was not told otherwise. Either way it was good a nice pick me up. The baked goods look so delicious it was hard for us to decide what to order. We finally decided to get there French cream ring- sorry we ate it all and didn't take a picture it's not like me to do that either (I'm pretty good with my pictures) I would order it again. The inside is super cute I sense a homey feel about this place. Parking in this area is tough and we were lucky to find space on a Saturday. I will definitely come back here again. It's a hidden coffee jewel in. Grosse Pointe Farms!!! New hours in my pictures

Yelp
I contracted them in January of 2016 for my August 2016 wedding. Paid in full and contracted. On my wedding day I got a call from "Mary the deliver driver" stating that the executive pastry chef had left the company and that they had no direction or photo of how I wanted my cake. Seriously? 10:30 am on my wedding day is when you decide to tell me that you don't know what you're doing? You could have chose a different day! How unprofessional! YOU RUINED MY WEDDING DAY! I immediately text her the exact photo of what I wanted. Everything was back on track, or so I though. I walked into my reception venue and my cake looked awful! I couldn't believe it. What a terrible cake. I will never ever recommend this company to anyone. Update: Morning glory and myself have reached an agreement. They have refunded 100% of the cost of my cake. 08/14/16

Yelp
Love the pastries, good coffee, nice ambience, and it's priced well. I've been many times, and will be back again.
google avatar

Kari T.

Yelp
This is a special little place. Sometimes the service isn't my favorite and the arrangement of the coffee station pre-COVID was weird. But the pastries and other delights are lovely, as is the front indoor and outdoor seating. Looking forward to normal again for more visits.
google avatar

Beth O.

Yelp
Absolutely my go to coffee spot in town. They have a monthly brew that has been a winner in my book every time. I also tend to grab their protein bites, which are great for a snack or even breakfast. My kiddos love their pasties, specifically the apple walnut scone. Their cake pops are also amazing! Haven't tried much else but those are all enough to keep my coming back and their desserts are on my list of must try!
google avatar

Yelp
Cool little coffee shop with a good variety of sweet stuff. Appears to be a favorite of the locals. Interior is done nicely. Lots of people hanging out drinking coffee.

Yelp
Ordered our one year old a simple mermaid cake for her birthday (on a Thursday for a party on Saturday). So delicious and beautiful. Amazing price.

Katie R.

Yelp
I love this place so much, even years later! The baristas always do their best to keep things moving, and despite all that the last year or so has put everyone through they are still churning out great product And service! That goes for the bakers as well! Any time I've gotten a custom order done I've been very happy with the results. Morning Glory is a Grosse Pointe staple and I hope that never changes!

Raphael A.

Yelp
Great cakes but I must say if it wasn't for my wife loving this place I would not go back. I'm very displeased with the way they treat me every time I go as well as I do not like how they rushed me off the phone when asking to see if the cake was ready for pickup before driving down there or speak to me as if I'm not welcomed. I do this for the love of my wife but she has also had some concerns as of late regarding how she was treated.
google avatar

Randy G.

Yelp
From the outside, walking by, you may not appreciate the decor inside or the variety of wonderfully looking treats. After spending a lengthy evening at a near-by restaurant hanging out with a friend, then coming here for dessert, I wish we would have come here in the beginning. When you walk in, you will appreciate their efforts in decor, old bookstore or library setting, and making you feel relaxed immediately. It is a very nice and cute setting. I wanted to sit in here, drink my coffee, read a book or spend time with friends. It is difficult to not order everything in their showcase, but finally decided on the mousse bomb and beignet with chocolate sauce . It is a very nice rich mousse filling with a dark chocolate ganache shell. It had a pleasant mousse texture, sweetness and taste. If I only had this and I would have given them four stars. However, they lost a star on their beignets. It wasn't the worst beignets I've had, but it wasn't the best either. You'll enjoy each bite, but it will not make your eyes roll back. They are not prepared to order so I think ours was made in the morning and had gone stale. The sauce saved it from it being a complete loss. I hope they are better in the morning. I'm looking forward to trying more here or at least sitting inside and enjoying the environment.
google avatar

Yelp
Nom nom nom! This place has loads of delicious temptations. I'm a big fan of their miniature dessert bites. It's a great way to sample taste their creations without having to buy an entire bar. The quiche is yummy too! My husband just bought my birthday cake here too (a Tiffany blue with a white ribbon cake). Not only did it look amazing but it tasted divine!! So moist and the frosting wasn't too sweet - just perfect. Very delicious. I gave it four out of five because I wish they would offer more lunch options and I was disappointed in their smoothies.
google avatar

Kristine H.

Yelp
A wonderful little gem on the Hill in Grosse Pointe Farms. I last minute needed six chocolate cupcakes for a small birthday dinner and Morning Glory did not disappoint. They were so sweet and nice and were able to come through! The cake was perfectly moist, and the frosting was light and fluffy and rich but not too sweet. We also got a ghost cookie that was adorable. The cafe itself is cute and full of character, and we will totally be back.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Not sure how this place is still open, it is just taking up space where another good cafe or restaurant could be. They never actually stick to ther hours of operation stated online, and when they are open they never have any of the food items listed on the menu (i.e. the breakfast sandwich) Time for something new here, or a little bit of an overhaul on management at the very least!
google avatar

Kid M.

Yelp
just your average 3-star local coffee shop nothing special nothing bad good coffee good people maybe for start if they had more donut options will go again
google avatar

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop in GPF. Ordered a latte and added caramel and it was spot on. Also ordered a turkey, spinach, feta croissant. Croissant could have had a little more "oomf" to it (seemed like it was just one slice of turkey and three spinach leaves) but it was still tasty and came out hot. Atmosphere is kinda quiet, which I prefer. I met a friend for coffee here, but I will definitely come back with a book or my laptop to do work. There's also a fireplace which made it feel cozy inside. Staff wasn't overly friendly, but it may have just been that particular day. I will definitely be coming back to this coffee shop and recommend it for anyone who wants an alternative to the chains

Katie C.

Yelp
Super cute place to get coffee, baked goods and to study. All the booths have outlets and there's even single seat booths so you don't feel like you are taking up a whole table for groups of people. The treats are delicious! And the coffee was very good.
