After a hell of a night out, I was looking for breakfast restaurants around the area where I could get a hefty, comforting meal. I specifically wanted a chilaquiles, which is my go-to. Candidly, I would've tried another local breakfast spot, but they didn't have what I really wanted. I mean, why settle for less? I saw Morning Squeeze's menu online and immediately zeroed in on the chilaquiles. It had everything I was looking for... chorizo, eggs, Rojo sauce. Done deal.
I arrived at Morning Squeeze around 7AM on a Wednesday morning. Such a cute spot, and a popular one at that! There were several guests sporadically around the restaurant, but there had to be at least 20 people already, and the place had just opened. I loved the vibrant colors and orange motif they had going on.
Alright, so I didn't get my chilaquiles. Apparently, they ran out of the ingredients to make the dish, so I got the carne asada benedict since I was still feeling Mexican flavors. The best thing on the dish was honestly the rosemary potatoes, which were nicely seasoned and crispy on the edges. The benedict was simply not good. The chipotle hollandaise was bland. The carne asada has the texture of burger meat rather than steak. The poached eggs weren't created equally. One was cooked all the way through, while the other had a picture perfect runny yolk.
Customer service was great though. Super friendly staff, and food came out fast.
