‘Very Best Breakfast Restaurant’ Opens Second Location in Denver | Eater Denver

"Originally opened in Arvada in 2018, I note that the first Morning Story was the brand's original location and was voted "Best Breakfast and Brunch" by readers of the Arvada Press and Westminster Window in 2019." - Erin Perkins

We had a lovely breakfast at morning story in Arvada. I had an egg white omelette with turkey sausage and spinach with grits and sourdough bread. My only complaint is the bread came out already buttered. I didn’t know. I should’ve said no butter on my bread so be sure you tell your server no butter butter on the side if you want it then you can control how much fat you’re eating. The other meal we had was a spinach and mushroom omelette with hollandaise sauce, and it was delicious with one pancake substituted for the bread

I think that we went in on a busy day, as our food came out before our coffee, but we survived. There aren't a ton of vegetarian options, so I ended up ordering a la carte, which worked out really well. My husband picked chicken and waffles (which came with 2 eggs) which was $18 and I ordered a waffle + specialty topping + egg + hash browns - and that was $18 as well. It's a bit pricey for breakfast, but it was very tasty and we understand that food cost is high and want the staff to make a living wage. We will definitely go again. It was delicious!

While the food was great, the service was a bit slow. It took a while for our food to come out. The serving sizes are very large, and you can easily share the meal. I do love the mimosa flights. They also have vodka flights and coffee flights. I ordered the trilogy, and my husband ordered the chicken and green chile hash. I also had the mimosa flights. The seasonal was an apple cider mimosa. Was very surprised and very much enjoyed this.

Off the beat little place set up in a strip mall, just off 80th and Sheridan , I would recommend, and I'd come back for a second try

Google
Went to Morning Story for birthday breakfast and was left a little disappointed. It's a nice little spot with a welcoming vibe and comfortable feeling. It was pretty crowded, and the service kind of lacked because of it. Our server seemed rushed and inconvenienced if we needed something or had a question. The food wasn't bad. I had the breakfast nachos and the chicken and waffles. The nachos were okay, nothing really above and beyond. The chicken and waffles were kind of lackluster as well. It's simply just a waffle with a couple of chicken strips. On a big plate with a bunch of empty space begging for more food to be added to it. Mimosa flight was good. Overall, it's hard to recommend going to a mid restaurant these days with all the other options nearby. And they offer no birthday love at all.

My boyfriend took me out to breakfast at Morning Story and it was awesome. The staff welcomed you in and was able to seat us quickly. The waitress (please forgive me as I did forget her name) was excellent! She greeted us, took our order and was just so warm and welcoming. Our food came out and it was delicious! She came and checked us and we even shared a few laughs. If you want to have breakfast with a friend, family or someone special, I would definitely recommend going to Morning Story in Arvada! We will be going back there again soon!

Google
Definitely recommend!! The food was delicious and service was quick and lovely.

Google
Cute place for breakfast or brunch. The servers were very polite and friendly. . Gave 4 stars for food, as we asked for scrambled cheesy eggs, and received over cooked eggs with cheese on top. Additionally, I asked for a to go order of the biscuits and gravy, with the gravy separate, received the to go order, with the gravy over biscuits. Bacon flight and Belgium waffle were amazing!

Yelp
Overall a really great experience. We had a large group with lots of kids, and they were able to seat us quickly and serve all of us and take care of multiple checks. I super appreciate how easy they made breakfast for us. The food was standard fare. Nothing too fancy, just good diner food. A lot of dishes can be customized by the way!

Yelp
The food and drinks is as good as it looks (and it looks amazing!!). They have so many flight options, lemonade (with or without alcohol), iced coffee, mimosas, etc. we got the lemonade and loved it! My personal favorite was the lavender lemonade and my boyfriend favored the blue raspberry lemonade. The oatmeal gluten free pancakes were topping with sooo much fresh fruit &a agave, it was delicious! Coming for your birthday? Be sure to sign up ahead for a $10 coupon!

Yelp
The food is wonderful.. lots to choose from. Whatever your in the mood for from different kinds of benidiccks to yummy sweet French toast dippers to amazing green chili The bloody Mary's are really tasty and spicy! This is our go to breakfast, brunch, lunch restaurant ~ can't go wrong with Morning Story!

Yelp
Morning Story caught our eye as it has the feel of a First Watch almost. Lots of overlap when you look at their menu items and how they plate things. We love the other place so decided to check these guys out. First, let's talk food. For us, it didn't hit the spot. My sausage and gravy eggs benny was over salted and deterred me from finishing. This shouldn't happen if you're tasting the food as you cook it. His breakfast sandwich was similarly salty as well. Neither of us finished which isn't normal, lol. We also ordered their French toast dippers. Flop. The oil was old (check out the pic of our very deal dippers) and the dippers weren't seasoned. They def needed some sweetness and lacked the french toast taste you'd expect from being dipped in milky egg. Not sure we'd return. We were excited to find another breakfast place but def left disappointed. As we sat, I quickly noticed there wasn't a lot to look at. The interior could use some more artwork and def some color. The tables were very tight and we watched several traffic jams as folks tried to navigate around people eating. On a good note, if management happens to take advantage of the help these reviews can provide, these are all easy fixes and would elevate the food, the service and the ambiance.

Yelp
we went here on a weekend at regular brunch hours and we were fortunate to only have about a 15 min wait- no reservation. We got the kitchen hash and the egg combo with French toast and strawberries. The French toast was VERY delicious and we finished it all. However the chicken has was alright, the chicken felt more like a Tyson chicken. However it was still good! The service was good as well and quick! We live near this restaurant so we have tried going several times and have tried to like it but unfortunately It never meets our expectations. We had a reservation and sat down right away but the server took about 10 minutes to bring water. Throughout our dinner we had to keep asking him to come back and bring us water and he seemed bothered when we asked which felt very unprofessional. We ordered the margharita pizza and meatballs which were good but nothing crazy. We have gotten the buffalo chicken sandwich in the past and it honestly tasted better the next day and the BLT is just too Missy and big to eat but it was good. The ambiance is just your tradition diner but it does have an outside patio which is nice for a hot day!

Yelp
A surprisingly expansive and artery clogging menu, this place satisfied our morning munchies and was super efficient and fast. With a typical diner vibe, suitable for small and big groups alike, this was a great place to grab brunch and hold us off until dinner. I ordered their Tripogy sandwich and it felt like the embodiment of America--delicious, fatty, might kill you if you have too much. Overall a pretty good experience!

Yelp
The hubs and I caught up with friends for a brunch the other weekend. We came on a Sunday and there was plentiful seating even at 10 am. It was busy but not too busy and we could still hear each other. Service was fast and very nice. Several people helped us and they were all great. I opted for the egg white and veggie omelet with hashbrowns and a piece of sourdough toast. The hashbrowns were awesome - nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfection. The hubs had a breakfast burrito and he really liked it as well. Definitely recommend this for breakfast!

Yelp
Great food, good service. Every time I've been here, we've been seated right away. No complaints about this place

Yelp
I had an absolutely excellent experience at Morning Story in Arvada. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which was perfectly cooked. The mimosa flight was amazing. David/Mgr and staff ensured provided excellent and exceptional service. Colton was my waiter and made sure I was provided with outstanding service. The restaurant also has a nice patio to sit outside and enjoy your meal if you so choose to do so. I will certainly be returning to Morning Story with my friends and family and highly recommend to any and everyone visiting or the folks that reside in Colorado!

Angelica C.

Yelp
What an amazing breakfast! It was a yesterday (Thursday) the place was busy but we were sat immediately. The waiter we had..."Joseph s" We all agree we have never had a better server! He had great recommendations and his service was 100%! The food was good too! We'll be back for sure! I recommend the flight of pancakes! Great for sharing when you want one of everything

Yelp
Stopped in for brunch and loved it! The Traditional Eggs Benedict was perfectly done, and the Southwest Chicken Hash had great flavor and just the right kick. Cozy vibe, friendly service, and good coffee. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Good brunch/lunch in a comfortable environment. I have been here a few times. Service is always friendly, sometimes scattered/slow. The last time we went our order wasn't entirely correct. They offered to remake it, but it wasn't necessary. We just asked for some green chile to make our eggs benny "green chile" eggs Benedict. My husband got the Trilogy which was essentially a giant brekkie sando filled with three meats. Very filling! Bacon flight is always fun and their cinnamon roll is large and delish. This is always a solid place to get breakfast or lunch. They have plenty of seating (including a nice patio) and also lots of parking.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I got takeout and shared: - Flight of Bacon - Philly Cheesesteak Benedict - BFG Burrito I was really impressed by everything we got. I loved everything, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Philly Cheesesteak Benedict. The bacon flight was really fun. I can't say I knew which one was which flavor, but I enjoyed the variety and all of them were good. I'd definitely go back and dine in because I'm sure it's even better fresh.

Yelp
The food here is so delicious and big portions. The service is excellent with very attentive people serving you. We had a great visit with coffee mimosas (happy hour pricing too!) brioche French toast with berries and cream spicy sausage and eggs and green chile with potatoes breakfast sandwiches and more! Check out the photos of all the goodness that we got ! We look forward to our visit here again in Arvada very soon! This place was busy but we were very well taken care of and everything was super clean and cute looking! Btw Nickayla R was awesome and attentive and answered all my questions since it was our first time there! :)

Yelp
We came for Sunday brunch, and timely it just right that we didn't have to wait for a table. But shortly afterwards, there was quite a crowd in the waiting area. Our waitress was nice, was clear about customizations available. We did have to ask a few times for water, but not the end of the world. The iced coffee flight was nice, basically 4 coffees in small wine glasses. The bacon flight was good. I think my favorite was probably the maple flavor or the beer flavor. The pancakes were light and fluffy. Strawberries and banana topping with walnuts was great. The spinach mushroom bacon omelette with hollandaise sauce was good, upgraded to the ranch hash browns (worth it). Someone else got the brioche French toast with cinnamon butter. The cinnamon butter was delicious. With all the upgrades, the price does add up fairly quickly but I was able to get some leftovers from mine. Not everyone in our party did though so ‍

Yelp
Atmosphere was relaxing waitstaff was amazing And cook Jaun Rayes I can't say enough the delicious food he prepared I asked for him to come out so my husband and I could thank him

Yelp
Great breakfast and fantastic service from Colten this morning. Interesting menu and the dishes were well-executed. What a nice break from the franchise breakfast places--even the more upscale ones.
google avatar

Aiyana K.

Yelp
The food is so good! On weekends expect a small wait but it is worth it. The coffee flight had something for everyone and the Ranch Browns are my absolute favorite side. Mimosa fried chicken Benedict was something out of a beautiful cook book
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing service, quality and very healthy portions. Casual spot. Great for families! Highly recommend the donuts made in house - the s'mores one was so so good

Yelp
We had an excellent time with our friends having brunch at Morning Story in Arvada! My breakfast sandwich The Trilogy was delicious and Crystal and I enjoyed the mimosas ! The green chile potatoes - loaded hash browns were great too and I could come and eat a plate of just that as well! We will be back again soon with our friends :) Nickayla our server was great - fast hardworking and kind! The place was big but busy and definitely a great place for families or groups of friends! Highly recommend a visit!

Yelp
Solid 3 at best. I am one that will give places three attempts before cancellation. Unless, I walk out with a food illness... each time I come, the Food experience is consistently salty. Yo the point that I can't finish and only eat half or less. Their coffee drinks are amazing and I just only like coffee. Juice is fresh and tasty. Dishes and glassware are clean and the compliance for cleanliness is high and food handling. Just stop being heavy-handed on the salt. No one want bloating and or digestive issues because of over use.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent breakfast spot. Nothing to write home about, but the food and drinks were good.

Justine R.

Yelp
Was excited to bring friends here since the 1st time here was pretty good. Waitress took our order, and we waited 45 minutes. While we were waiting, the waitress didn't even check up on us, didn't refill waters, and kept chatting to the table behind us. After a while, ANOTHER waiter came up to us and told us that our order wasn't even put in and that it would take another 20-25 minutes for food to come out. We were on a time crunch so we left hungry and felt very disappointed. We got a 25$ gift card as an apology which was nice, but I don't think we will be coming back after having that much time wasted.

Yelp
Sooo happy we found this restaurant so close to our house! Was a more quiet vibe on a Tuesday morning and we were quickly seated. Our waitress, Leslie, was lovely with the recommendations and great service. Interior is very clean, kind of a Cape Cod vibe! All 3 of us ordered a mimosa flight (4 kinds) and loooved them. Got us pretty tipsy too, when we didn't think there'd be much alcohol. Cocktail menu and different flight options are IT. Food wise we ordered: -bacon flight + fruit cup -avocado toast w/ poached eggs -belgian waffle w/ lemon-blueberry topping -fried Green Tomato BLT (bacon on side) w/ fries -avocado eggs Benedict w/ hashbrowns -green chile chicken hash We thought everything was wildly delicious. Didn't try any bacon but others devoured it. My BLT (minus bacon) was A1, as were the golden crispy fries and garlic aioli. Portions were large and everything tasted so fresh! Menu is huge.. was pretty difficult to decide on something because everything sounds yummy. Tons of variety. I noticed they had a "Todays Specials" menu as well which is where I ordered the FGT BLT from and I love that it seems like they have new menu items seasonally/occasionally! We will be definitely be back before we move.
google avatar

Jessie W.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for seasonal specials and even more for drink flights and Morning Story has both. It was hard to decide between the mimosa flight or the spiked hot chocolate flight *drool*, but really it was the latter option that brought me in and it did not disappoint! I ended up splurging on an apple cider mimosa as well, very fall, very refreshing. Everyone loved their food as well and the service was quick and friendly. We'll be back!

Amanda L.

Yelp
One of our family's absolute favorite places! great servers, atmosphere, food and the best mimosas. Regular place for us!
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast/brunch! They are quite busy during the weekends, so expect a 30min+ wait during peak hours. You have to be present when they call you to be seated (they won't take down your number) Once seated, also expect a bit of a wait for food to be brought out (we waited about 20min). The entrees we had were delicious! - ROMESCO AVOCADO BENEDICT - loved this! the red pepper pesto added a bit of a sweetness to the Benedict. For a side, you can choose between greens, fruit, or hash browns. - ULTIMATE SCRAMBLE - this egg scramble was loaded with so many toppings! Great savory dish, especially paired with hash browns. Their hash browns are super crispy on the top - which is how we prefer it! - BACON FLIGHT - this is the only thing I don't recommend out of all the things we've tried. The bacon wasn't crispy. They don't really tell you which bacon is which. Majority of them tasted the same and they were all only okay... pass. The bacon would be totally fine inside something (like a sandwich, scramble, etc.). But if they have the bacon on it's own, especially in a flight, I would expect it to stand out and be special on its own. - APPLE KALE JUICE - they make this fresh and you can definitely tell. It is such a yummy, refreshing drink to start your morning with. I almost chugged the whole thing. You do not taste the bitterness of the kale. It's mostly sweet and tart from the apple and lemon. - HOT COFFEE - your typical diner coffee. They give you a mug filled with black coffee and then set the rest of the hot coffee pot on your table for you to refill on your own. Lots of different flavored creamer and sugar on the table for you to use.
google avatar

Yelp
This would get a 5 if the wait wasn't so long. We did go on Monday morning of Labor Day weekend, so it was busy. It was an hour wait, so we put our name on the list and went and ran some errands and then came back. Once we were seated we got coffee and juice fairly quickly and placed our order. We waited about 40 minutes to get our food. The food was delicious though! The menu is pretty extensive. I loved my morning story breakfast where you can pick how your eggs are done, what type of toast, what type of meat and what type of side. I got over easy on rye with bacon and fruit. My boyfriend really enjoyed his Cambridge hash as well. I would go back in the future and hopefully there's a shorter wait.
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
My husband and I tried this place on a Monday morning. We like to try locally owned businesses and skip the chain restaurants when possible. The staff was super friendly and our waitress was attentive. The place was clean and bright. My husband ordered the carnitas Benedict which looked amazing. He enjoyed it just wished it had a little more green chile. I ordered the spinach, bacon, mushroom omelet... something to that effect. I just know it was smothered in hollandaise and was absolutely delicious. An omelet smothered in hollandaise! Now that's an omelet. We don't live on that side of town but I look forward to trying other dishes and I will brag about that omelet to my friends!
google avatar

Carolina H.

Yelp
I have driven by Morning Story sooo many times and finally had the chance to have brunch! I ordered the Green Chili Benedict on a bed of hash browns with a Bloody Mary flight! It was really good, great flavor and super fresh (I do wish my dish came with more green chili though). The Bloody Mary flights were all unique and very interesting. They came with the classic, the Rea snapper, bloody Maria (which came with sriracha bacon and it was unlike anything I've ever had before) and the Bacon. Service was great, our host was kind and we did have to wait about 5-10min. Our waitress was very friendly and very attentive. The layout of the place felt very homey and very open. They also have outdoor seating on the patio. 10/10

Scott M.

Yelp
We stopped in on 4/12 with no reservation for brunch. Although they said a 15-20 min wait, they were efficient bussing tables and we were seated in about 10 minutes. We had the chicken and waffles and the eggs benedict Romesco; both meals were excellent, as we were able to share with the manager when he stopped by to check on us. Our dining was made all the better as Krizia, both attentive and friendly, was our server. We've been several times and all with similar results and felt it time to write a review. We'll definitely be back!

J G.

Yelp
Awful! Place has really gone downhill. Service was awful, waited over 35 minutes for food only to have it ice cold. Only time we saw server was for drinks and dropping food. Had to wait an extra 10 minutes for last plate to be served. Will not be going back!!!
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Amazing elevated diner style breakfast. Can't go wrong with any of the egg or meat options. But do check out the bacon flight! Coffee is also good and service was great. Prices reasonable for the quality of the food and the portion sizes.

Chris T.

Yelp
Great service. cute, clean little place. Good crowd so it's obviously popular. The food was just meh, my green chili chicken hash wasn't good, the chicken had no flavor, just boiled no seasoning and my overeasy egg's were cooked overheard nbd but if you can't cook eggs correctly??? My companion's green chili carnitas Benedict was pretty good I finished her plate instead of mine. Maybe next time I'd substitute carnitas for the chicken??? *****Service ****Ambience *** Food

Yelp
Think First Watch, but not a chain. Great breakfast and lunch offerings, including booze! Mimosa flight, bacon flight, pairings..... such fun. Clean, bright, patio seating as well as spacious tables and booths.
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
The country fried steak was the best country fried steak we've ever had! The meat was very tender and went so well with the eggs and hash browns. The mimosa flight was also so fun to try them all! Cute little diner in Arvada.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Cute, clean, and yummy. Staff is friendly and the menu has both classic breakfast food items as well as unique offerings. We each ordered a classic style breakfast and they were perfect.
google avatar

Dustin H.

Yelp
Food is a 7/10 good selection, sometimes under seasoned. Mimosa flights and drinks are strong and 10/10. Good local breakfast spot worth a 15-20min. drive.
google avatar

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
Met a coworker for breakfast here and had a great experience. Cute little place tucked away in an unassuming strip mall with a menu that has enough variety it'll appeal to anyone. I ordered the BLTA toast with my eggs over medium. The food was delightful and portion was the perfect size. I also thought service was pretty good overall. Our server was friendly and attentive without overbearing. The restaurant manager was also chipping in to make sure guests had everything needed. Will definitely come back when looking to grab a good breakfast out and about!
google avatar

Devon T.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how much I love this place. I come about once a week. The food is CONSISTENTLY amazing. The manager and staff always goes above and beyond!
google avatar

Seth M.

Yelp
A lovely breakfast spot that had good food and cultivates great compony. I came here with my sister where we were greeted by a clean store and friendly service. Our mimosas and bloody Mary drinks were delicious and refreshing. The large menu with a variety of options has something for everyone to enjoy. I had the Egg Benedict option called the Italian. The typical Egg Benedict with a variety of greens, diced tomatoes and balsamic vinegar and a side of hash-browns was heavenly. With a moderate noise level, this clean, friendly and delicious store is a perfect stop for a breakfast or brunch with friends and family alike.

Lani H.

Yelp
Thank you so much Colton with your amazing customer services , you and your staff did a outstanding job & accommodated our table when they even ran out of things , one of the best established I've been too in Denver and definitely will come back to this location when visiting again , if you want great service definitely come to this location. Food was great and the ambiance was very nice and clean

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for brunch and overall it was a good experience. We sat in the back patio, which was so loving. Our waitress provided good customer service. The food was good, we particularly enjoyed our drinks. My boyfriend ordered a mimosa flight and I ordered a hot chocolate flight, WE had NO complaints haha.
google avatar

Deborah A.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast places I've ever had the pleasure to visit. The food is well prepared, tasty and ample. The wait staff are helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is definitely an upgrade from a greasy spoon. It is light and airy with lots of seating. Come early because it's a popular spot for a weekend brunch. I highly recommend Morning Story.
google avatar

JP M.

Yelp
We're always on the search for a new breakfast diner. Our friends Ricky & Rochelle introduced us to Morning Story and we've enjoyed several times. Their house cured bacon is really worth exploring. This past visit I tried the Carnitas Benedict smothered with a green chili hollandaise. Uniquely delicious! TIP: Call ahead and add your name to the waitlist, this will save time on busy weekends!

Yelp
The service was great! The wait was long over 40 mins with empty tables. They must have been short staffed or at least I am guessing. Even so there were wiat staff members goofing off and sitting down 3 and 4 at a time together messing around. The girl that waited on us seemed annoyied by it as well considering she now has to pick up the slack and probably has been all morning. The food pricey for breakfast and the portions small for the most important meal of the day. The menu is not just good ole hardy breakfast its this strange blend of things like all the new breakfast joints moving into Arvada. Where they try and reinvent the pancake and wont serve corn beef and hash because its too fattening and forget trying to order poached eggs soft you will more then likely get a hard boiled basted egg at best there. Even with all the 29 fancy ingredients they choose to mix together that belong in a salad bar buffet not breakfast, you end up with really strange flavors but bland if that can even make sense. Anyway I am not saying not to give it a whirl since some people obviously like it since they will wait 40 mins for it. Just not my thing! In fact my ex-wife picked it as we eat a meal together every 2 weeks to talk about our kids. It was her pick this time and I saw the menu and thought yep this is her jam! She got a burrito which looked good on the menu to me even. Nope we both agreed there is just something wrong with the way they combo the ingredients. The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2 was number 1 our waitress really did a fantastic job especially with her back up against the wall and 2 I see the the potential that someone would like it. Just not me nor my ex-wife and for us. We won't be going back at least on our dates since the deal is we must pick a place either of us has ever been. Which 8 years every other week. We have just about exhausted convenient options near us. Thanks for reading and I really hope you go try this place for yourself since I know I am a little old fashioneded on my breakfast choices. Its just the one meal that shouldn't be messed with too much!

Yelp
Very friendly staff but that's where the complaints stop unfortunately:/ we drove a little out of our way to find a place that served alcohol for our anniversary brunch but we were very disappointed in the food. Over cooked eggs, undercooked English muffin(and cold) and hash browns (we asked for extra crispy) pancakes were cold and hard! Mimosa wasn't very cold and became warm quickly. Wait time was also very long. Again, only reason I gave 2 stars was for the waitress. Needless to say we won't be back:(

Yelp
Great local breakfast and lunch spot! They offer flights of Bloody Mary, bacon, and mimosas. The spicy bloody Maria is fairly spicy. It is garnished with a bacon and a banana pepper. The Bloody Mary flight consists of the classic, bloody Maria, bloody bacon, and a seasonal. Unfortunately, the bloody bacon was plain awful. It was supposed to be bloody vodka, but it tastes more like drinking bacon grease. Even the server said many people don't like this one. Come hungry, as breakfast is quite large portions for a good price. The biscuits and gravy had 2 fluffy biscuits, 2 eggs cooked your way, and a choice of side. The great egg-spectations is a rather large sandwich on a brioche bun and a choice of side. Both dishes were excellent. There's plenty of parking since this is located in a strip mall. They do offer happy hour specials all day Mondays and early bird specials on the weekend between 7-8AM.
