So this place has a cool aesthetic and a low key type of vibe. The food and coffee aren’t really the best. It’s decent enough that you won’t leave hungry but nothing to say “wow that was good”. The food comes out visually appealing but my meal and wife’s burrito just fell flat on actual flavor.

Google
We came and here and they were very accommodating. We ordered a parfait for our baby and he’s under one so we asked them not to add the honey. The biscuit and omelet were fantastic and much larger than expected. The coffee and hot chocolate was the perfect temperature. I love that they steamed the milk for the hot chocolate and it wasn’t a powder mix with hot water. We can’t wait to visit again.

Google
Good place for breakfast, coffee, and lunch. The space in front of the register can be a little tight when busy but the lines moves pretty quickly. Order your food at the register. If you're eating in, they give you a table marker with an Uno Card for a server to bring you your food. We a ordered the Ruben sandwich, chips, corn beef and hash. The food was pretty good. The honey sriacha sauce that comes with the cornbeef and hash was delicious. There was plenty of seating upstairs and outside. We will return.

Google
Morning Times in downtown Raleigh is a truly unique spot with a cool coffee shop vibe that stands out in the city. The coffee here is super flavorful, rich, and expertly brewed. Their food menu is just as impressive, with each dish crafted to perfection. I especially recommend trying their biscuits. If you’re in Raleigh and looking for a memorable coffee and bite, Morning Times is a must-visit.

Stopped here this morning on our way out of Raleigh and it was a great start to our morning! Got the Chai latte and tuna melt and they were fabulous. I get nervous about ordering Chais at smaller coffee shops because they differ in taste so much but they nailed it here. The tuna melt was perfect and the tots were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The service was fast and there was a clear sense of community at the establishment. Would definitely come back again.

Google
It was an unplanned visit this morning. But I was pleasantly impressed with the place. When I see a coffee shop have lines out the door it makes me happy (when I m not in a rush of course) - showing it’s a good place for coffee!! And it most definitely didn’t disappoint. I went upstairs, opened my laptop and ordered my food online - just to skip the crazy lines. Picked it up a few minutes later and enjoyed the chicken biscuit with a warm cup of coffee!! No fancy plates for me but that did no difference to the taste! Will definitely go again.

Google
We had the grits and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the bread pudding, accompanied by a drip latte, and a latte with maple cinnamon syrup. Everything was amazing. The bread pudding was the best that I’ve ever had. There’s a lot of seating upstairs, and also outside. The food runners find your table quick wherever you’re sitting with the card they give you with a number on it. Quick service and it was very busy, but we only waited a few minutes for our food and beverages! The cashier seriously moved through orders of a 15 person line in 5 minutes. We will be back!

Loved our breakfast here this weekend! Such a great spot - very cute, friendly staff, good coffee, very fluffy biscuit! Also very dog friendly, our boy was able to sit outside and had a huge water bowl to himself!

Yelp
I've been here a few times for coffee and a morning bite. Anticipate a line and business, as this is a go-to spot for Raleigh locals during the weekend. But the line goes quick! The staff is always friendly and efficient! I appreciate all of the outdoor street seating and the upstairs seating. It's feel pretty private and quiet upstairs! Their coffee and breakfast food were pretty standard and hit the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Review is just for the coffee. The drip coffee was okay, nothing I would go out of my way or wait in a long line for. The limited amount of pastries looked decent. Breakfast, lunch sandwiches and a limited kid menu was available. Too cramped and not much room inside so sat on the tables outdoors. Parked in a parking garage a block down on Wilmington Street for two hour free parking.
google avatar

Yelp
TLDR: Maybe the coffee and pastries are the stars of this show but this is not the place for well-seasoned breakfast food, especially if you're hungry. However, the staff members are nice and efficient when you only need something small and quick. The rest of the story: The place is very small and there are only 4 high chairs inside at the window. There is outdoor seating along the sidewalk so bring your jacket during cooler months and eat quickly or your food will get cold. Despite the line we encountered, the service was fast and friendly. The girl at the counter patiently waited for me to make my decisions and took my order but informed me they didn't do many substitutions. We ordered the grits bowl, an omelette and the spicy chicken biscuit and went to take our seats outside. The table marker with, Uno cards, they gave us was so light I had to hold it in my hands to keep the light breeze from blowing it off the table. After a short wait, our food arrived in stages. The bowl of grits was small with a sprinkles of cheese and raw green onions on top. It was otherwise unseasoned. The omelette was also unseasoned, and the spinach and onions inside were undercooked and difficult to cut with the plastic cutlery we were provided. The Nashville chicken biscuit was not spicy at all. It relied completely on the sauce that was put on top for any amount of heat.

Yelp
Came here for a quick snack and saw it was rather busy. I got a cookie which was alright and their iced matcha was meh but refreshing at least. I do like their upstairs area which has a good amount of seating and an interesting wall. Seems like a nice spot to work remotely or study.
google avatar

Valerie G.

Yelp
This place was super busy. We got our food to go. There is seating outside, and I think inside because there's an upstairs, but I can't confirm because I never made it that far. The staff is friendly and the food was amazing. And of course, the coffee was really good.

Autumn S.

Yelp
Food was so fantastic we went there every morning for our trip to Raleigh. Plan to go every time we come back. Iced Chai Latte was also to die for. Highly recommended. Couldn't be more impressed with the incredible staff and food! If you are a big foodie this place is a must go.

Yelp
I've ordered twice now from The Morning Times via DoorDash, and loved it! I've only tried two menu items but loved it enough to order it twice in one week. The breakfast burrito is one of the best I've had around here! Huge, stuffed with eggs, beans, cheese, jalapeños. I skip the jalapeños and beans (never sure how hot the peppers may be), but always add avocado and chicken. It's so yummy! I love the tater tots too, but wish they were a LITTLE less crispy. It's also served with sour cream and a great salsa! I'll definitely be ordering from this spot again. I might even try something new!
google avatar

Elisa A.

Yelp
This was probably the best coffee shop I have visited so far. The biscuit was TOO good, to die for! And the coffee did not disappoint- so great, I have added a maple cinnamon syrup that hit the spot! Already wanting to go back!

Yelp
Was pretty good got the Spicy chicken biscuit ting was gas French toast looked good Service was nice. Have a plastic menu took time with food. Nice vibes downstairs. It gives a diner with the in and out doors.

Yelp
Had a delicious breakfast after arriving in Raleigh. When you first walk in, the location is a little deceiving because it looks small with only a window counter seating, but the real seating is upstairs. It's a large room with lots of tables and plenty of seating. The staff on the first floor was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was YUM, my favorite were all the scones I had all the flavors available that day. I also got to try the soup of the day which was available at breakfast time. It was Broccoli Cheese and I think it was the best Broccoli Cheese Soup I've ever had. Kudos to The Morning Times
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Great coffee shop and cafe! My husband got the black coffee and I got the iced chai- both delicious. The cold brew was extra good in my opinion, I don't normally like black coffee but this I did! We each got a breakfast sandwich served on a croissant with sausage- YUM! Also while in line a local said it was the best matcha in Raleigh so if you like matcha I'd try that too! :)

Kylee G.

Yelp
Good spot, lots of seating inside upstairs and outdoors. Food and drinks were okay and waiting area very small especially when they are busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this coffee shop. Stopped here on the way to Florida from up North. Got there at opening time and was met with a kind, helpful staff. Lots of room, great vibe. If I lived in Raleigh, I'd go all of the time.

Yelp
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. We were in town on a 4th grade field trip looking for a pick me up. You could tell the place was incredible by the line out the door at 10am. We stuck with the breakfast sandwich and an iced latte. Both were simply yet delicious. That buttery sour dough on the sandwich... insanely good. The coffee was simple but not insanely sweet and I love that. The line was long but went so quick and they greeted each person with a smile! Will return on our next raleigh adventure.

Brian G.

Yelp
This is cute coffee shop with food items. The service was great. The biscuit was definitely homemade and absolutely perfect. The prices were reasonable but not too crazy. It is definitely a good spot to have breakfast before going to a downtown museum. I would suggest this as a kid friendly establishment.

Yelp
Great place in the heart of Downtown Raleigh to grab breakfast, lunch, a caffeinated beverage and either explore Downtown, get some work done, read, or catch-up with friends! Morning Times is located in the heart of Downtown Raleigh on Hargett Street, right near Marbles. There is street parking as well as many decks and pay-lots within a short walking distance. Please keep in mind that since this is downtown, there will probably be parking restrictions as well as a cost to park depending on the day and space you choose. A couple friend's and I met here one morning to grab breakfast, catch-up, and read/journal. We planned to be downtown so I parked in a lot that had full day parking and walked a bit which was fine. When you enter the building, you can order your drink or food. This place is small, but I love that about it because it's quaint and has a lot of character. The menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch options, as well as some desserts and drink options. They even have some adult beverages if that's something you are interested in. This was my first visit so I wasn't sure what to get, but the staff was great, helpful, and extremely patient. I ended up ordering Morning Sandwich on Bagel Everything Bagel with Turkey Sausage. It was DELICIOUS! The bagels are made fresh on site daily. It was filling and was a great price, especially for the quality and size of the bagel. Then I headed up the stairs to meet my friends who I was hanging out for the day. Up the stairs there's a sitting area with quite a few tables and arm chairs. It's great to catch up with friends, work with headphones on for the day, read, or just have a relaxing/chill place to go. After we ate, read for a bit, and got caught up, my friends and I walked around downtown and visited some of the museums. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return.

Yelp
I have been coming here every day for the past 4 years to play chess in the corner of the shop. I consider the morning times to be like my personal Washington Square Park (I, of course, in this scenario, would be Bobby Fischer ((as made famous by Toby Macquire in "Pawn Sacrifice" (((2015))))) or Max Pomeranc as Josh Waitzkin "Searching for Bobby Fischer" (1993),) The only difference being that I just play online on my phone or computer and not with other patrons due to my crippling social anxiety. However, I found that the staff hear is so nice that it is helping me with my anxiety and I have even had the chance to make a new friend (small tattooed man on staff named Bert I believe). This came as a welcome surprise as I generally do not talk to or make eye contact with service workers . This alone gives Moring Times a "5 star" rating in my book - but the best part of this place is definitely the individual packets of Texas Pete. These are fantastic because you can grab as many as you want and take them home and the staff doesn't care AT ALL. You can grab 30-40 of them and eat good for months and Texas Pete goes with EVERYthing (seafood, vegetables, dennys "grand slams" and their varietals, burgers, and even Asian fare, to name a few). I am no longer allowed in Raleigh Times next door because I took "too many" of the sriracha bottles home with me which - why would you leave on the table without a sign or anything and then get mad at me? Maybe consider labeling each bottle "not for home use" if it's going to be a huge deal. This was a disappointing "ban" because I really enjoyed how many bathrooms were available at the raleigh times, 5, in comparison to morning times where there are only 3. I guess that would be my only negative about the space and I hope to be welcomed back next door at the end of this year when my suspension expires. Try the bagles!

Yelp
Classic Coffee shop in the Raleigh Downtown. The coffee they served is from Counter Culture which is really good. We choosed the Smore's Latte because it's the season with some graham crackers on the top We really enjoyed the second floor with the open space gallery. Perfect to have a seat and enjoy your coffee.

Yelp
Will say to order it's very cramped but overall food didn't disappoint. Love that the biscuit was crunchy & jelly was good. Eggs & bacon were decent. Small portion size for me tho but overall a solid 8/10 with food. And atmosphere pretty chill. Probably bring my dates here or some. But overall good no cap

Yelp
PROS: - Excellent everything bagel. The dough has a dense and solid quality to it. Strong showing by the bagel. - Can substitute milk (i.e. oat or almond) - There is a self-service water cup area, and they don't charge extra - Prices were reasonable - It is easy to walk to from anywhere downtown - Lots of spaces to sit and work with outlets - Larger tables available for small groups - Diverse audience - Cozy, go-to coffee spot vibes CONS: - Parking can be a bit tough to find OTHER THOUGHTS: - The cream cheese and sandwich were pretty straightforward. If they added a little pizazz to both offerings, it would take them to the next level! OVERALL: - Recommend trying!

Dinks M.

Yelp
Amazing coffee shop to go to. One of my favorites in Raleigh. They get backed up a lot and could likely benefit from adding an additional register on that days, but they have limited space so I understand it. Being busy is usually a sign of being good!
google avatar

Yelp
y'all i'm in love with this place. I ordered an iced americano with an extra shot and syrup because I was in need of some caffeine. My drink was perfect!!! it came out shortly after I ordered. My breakfast plate took a little bit longer but I ordered eggs (scrambled with cheese), bacon, and a biscuit with jam. I wasn't the biggest fan of the jam but I loved everything else. My experience was amazing. Despite the long line, the customer service was consistent and friendly. I didn't have time to eat there, but there was tons of seating upstairs and outside. It was very cozy and I could definitely imagine going there to finish up work or just read.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
I love the Morning Times, probably my favorite downtown Raleigh coffee shop. The food and coffee are both great and the staff is always friendly. I love the permanent sidewalk seating they now have to enjoy a coffee out front and people watch.
google avatar

Liliana S.

Yelp
This quaint little breakfast/lunch place was highly recommended by my local friends and family. They were very busy when I arrived- it took about 15 minutes of standing in line before I was able to order. The wait between ordering and being served was short though. I had an everything bagel with cream cheese & a small mocha latte. It was delicious and filling. The rest of my group ordered a variety of items and they all loved it. The buffalo chicken wrap was highly praised. The staff was friendly and efficient. My only complaint was the lack large tables for big groups. One of the staff members tried to stop us from putting tables together but we happily told him that we would move the tables back once we had finished brunch.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem!! A couple things to note: - The food tasted wonderful, came out fast, and was very affordable !! - The coffee and chai is phenomenal! One of the best Chai's i've ever had
google avatar

Rich M.

Yelp
First time here, stopped in for a mid afternoon coffee. Considering it was hot I went for a cold brew (typically don't). I have to say this was one of the best cold brews I've had, it was smooth and not burnt tasting at all. The barista suggested the maple cinnamon flavoring, that was a top notch recommendation! My only regret, I didn't get the large. Place has a smaller down stairs but a large sitting area upstairs with restrooms on both levels. Will definitely go back!
google avatar

Madeline L.

Yelp
Really cute place and brings that fun quick-stop cafe/deli in a city vibe to downtown Raleigh which I love! However, the food really misses the mark for me. The bagel sandwich (sausage egg and cheese) was very bland. Both bagels were tough and just not good quality. Also they give the TINIEST portion of cream cheese.. it wasn't even enough to thinly cover 1/4 of the bagel. The yogurt parfait was fine, but the granola was pretty soft/chewy as if it was a bit old. As much I want to love this place, I definitely wouldn't pay for food here again.
google avatar

Tasha S.

Yelp
I ordered a grit bowl it was SOOO good. This will be my forever order. The only thing I will do differently is add more scallions other than that it was perfect. I will be back!!
google avatar

Jenn C.

Yelp
My partner and I tried the Morning Times and we really enjoyed ourselves. We both ordered the sweet chicken biscuit and we both said we would get that again. I got an iced vanilla latte and my boyfriend got an iced caramel mocha latte. My drink was exceptional and so good but my boyfriend's was not the best we've had in Raleigh. The service was really friendly and we received our items fast. Overall this place is well worth a visit!
google avatar

zaid a.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. I ordered a coffee and had the cashier surprise me. It was an iced oat milk something incredible. The chicken on the biscuit was delicious. The ranchero egg dish was also very tasty and full of flavor. Place is well kept and if all the outdoor seating is taken, they have upstairs seating. Very close to the Marriot where we stayed. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
i loved it here! so cozy and good coffee. several options to choose from and the staff is very nice. didn't get the food but it smelled and looked amazing! such a nice study spot if you need to stay a couple hours and have a good latte.
google avatar

Lexi G.

Yelp
I decided to be adventurous and order the black sesame vanilla latte special, hot with almond milk, and it was SO GOOD!!! I love vanilla lattes and wasn't sure what to expect, but the sesame tasted nice and subtle in my opinion. My husband got an iced caramel latte and I am so happy with how the barista made it - he didn't dump everything into the cup, lid it, and call it out - he poured the latte back and forth between a pitcher and cup to THOROUGHLY MIX EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I can't stand when the flavor is all at the bottom. I loved this place so much.
google avatar

Lesley L.

Yelp
Good breakfast food and coffee, enjoyed on this Sunday morning! It's in downtown Raleigh, so there's downtown parking to consider. My boyfriend went in to order for both of us, so I didn't see the inside. We ate at one of the outdoor tables, which was nice pretty early in the morning.
google avatar

Stella Y.

Yelp
Came for breakfast and got the daily omelet which was folded over spinach, tomato, ham and feta. It was pretty basic but it hit the spot for a healthy and protein filled breakfast. There was nothing really binding the filling in the omelet so everything was just loose. I also got an iced latte which was okay. It was pretty milk heavy so you couldn't really taste the coffee. Just a note, you have to pick up your coffee at the counter even though they give you a number for your food. Didn't know that as I had already climbed to the second floor.
google avatar

A A.

Yelp
This place is great. House made bagels and biscuits. Great coffee too. The best part: the service. The cashier and barista could not have been kinder or more welcoming on my visit this morning. I hope to visit again.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the location here . Great area in downtown . The food was delicious and my coffee . I got the iced mocha coffee. The service was amazing . There is an outside are to eat and enjoy your food . Staff was friendly
google avatar

Remi W.

Yelp
This place is great! Staff is super friendly and the place is clean. I had a cold brew and a banana muffin. I asked for a cold brew with lavender syrup and unfortunately they were out of the lavender syrup so I just has a cold brew but it was still good. Banana muffin was great. Only thing I would do different is next time get the banana muffin with chocolate chips. Would come back, would recommend!
google avatar

Jillian S.

Yelp
Yum, delicious and filling matcha lattes! They do offer dairy alternatives. I chose oat milk. The latte was served beautifully (even in a to-go cup) and at the right temperature. Be ready, Morning Times is busy, particularly on Sunday mornings. There were about 10 people in line before me, but it does move quickly. They have limited seating downstairs and upstairs. I also ordered the tomato, squash, and cheddar bread pudding but did not like it. It was too cheesy and dry for my taste. It was similar to a scone muffin or Pão de queijo. Overall, I enjoyed my matcha latte and recommend this coffee shop to others!

Cathy F.

Yelp
Quaint breakfast shop in downtown Raleigh. Dining room is above the front counter. Personnel are polite and food is good.
google avatar

Tammy H.

Yelp
Highly recommend their chai tea latte because they make it in house and serves in a pretty cup but what makes this exceptional is that it's not over-sweet. I wish this place had pour over but they have a drip light roast with hints of melon that I really liked. The spicy chicken biscuit sandwich is a must. Seriously I'm not exaggerating it's the best breakfast biscuit I've ever had with tangy pickles and jam. Everything was $17 including a scone with my sister. Now I would knock a star off for wifi since it's spotty but since the ambiance was so nice upstairs they are getting a 5 from me! Highly recommend it
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Decent breakfast sandwich spot. The coffee wasn't as sweet as I would like even after asking for it to be sweeter. The Reuben is corned beef opposed to pastrami. The croissant and bagel sandwich was good, no complaints. They seem to be mainly a to-go place but they do having seating upstairs. However, no elevator. So I had to carry my baby and stroller upstairs. They also did not have a changing station in either of their bathrooms which was a little frustrating. Overall, it was good but nothing stood out. For me personally, they lost a star for the stairs and the bathroom. I would go back for a quick bite.
google avatar

Yelp
The morning times is one of my favorite little coffee spots in downtown Raleigh. They are always doe for suggesting you a new drink. The service is always top tier when I'm there. The restaurant itself has a cool flow. You take an uno card to your table for you number! Pretty cool. Upstairs is nice to hangout eat a snack or drink a coffee and study.

Andrew S.

Yelp
The Morning Times has the friendliest service in town. The coffee is always deliciously prepared. Our family loves the breakfast items, especially the morning sandwich or bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. Freshly prepared to order, it keeps us going through the morning!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Nice place to get in out of the cold. Ordered a hot chocolate and found a quiet spot upstairs. Thank you!
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Cute little coffee spot right downtown. We had the cold brew and oat milk chai latte...both were excellent!

Seth M.

Yelp
Friendly, great coffee, delicious food. This is a great place to start the day. There is a nice area outside to sip your coffee as well.
google avatar

Janki P.

Yelp
5/5 Best local coffee shop in town! I ordered an iced caramel latte and it was perfect. Not overly sweet and could definitely taste the coffee. Portion sizes are generous and the price is very reasonable. Friendly staff and the location seemed nice too. I wish I lived closer to it so I could go more often.

Yelp
In the 4th Covid wave, we gave it another chance: and this time, it was equally slow motion but fortunately not challenged by a long line of customers. So, the orders were correct, the coffee delicious, the banana bread too dry but the Neiman Marcus melting on the tongue - and there was plenty space ... PREVIOUS REVIEW Theoretically cute, but the ultimate NPO ("nil/nothing/nada per os/mouth") coffee shop: it almost felt like before surgery when they want your stomach to be completely empty before they give you the treat(ment). Poor setup with only those two poor guys trying to run the entire shop - completely overwhelmed at the cost of a crowd of waiting customers. By the time they finally got to my order, they not only did it wrong but I really should have rather ordered a full meal. That's probably why they call it the Morning Times!! Get your order in in the morning only, otherwise it won't be ready on the same day ...

Yelp
The food was very fresh and tasty. I very much enjoyed the burrito ingredients, portion and options. The atmosphere was cool with seating upstairs and ordering down stairs where you enter. The menu has options that fit someone very hungry to a small healthy snack. The barista can make flavored lattes and they focus on quality of coffee beans. The bacon was crispy on egg and cheese biscuit. The side fruit was full of berries. The menu is pricey and my order was made missing an item. Great location from museums to walk for all age friendly menu.
