The Best Restaurants Around Houston’s NRG Stadium | Eater Houston

"This family-owned, decades-old Thai restaurant is a reliable go-to when you’re on the hunt for something beyond traditional game-day grub. The restaurant’s spicy Thai offerings include soft spring rolls with shrimp, fragrant tom yum soup, basil with crispy chicken, and homemade panang curry. Diners can seal the experience with coconut sticky rice or Thai-style fried bananas, both of which pair well with its homemade coconut or mango ice creams." - Marcy de Luna

We did not like the highly publicized Pad Thai, it looked great from pics, and reviewers seemed to like it. I have had great Pad Thai- did not even eat half. I did like the rice fried- Crispy Chicken, it was a little spicy, even though we said mild, but had a good flavor. Not sure i will return. I like Thai Cottage and Som Boon Pad Thai so much more. Thai Cottage is not opened on Sunday, so we gave this place a shot.

Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had! Thai is always a favorite but Morningside is a can’t miss in Houston. Pad Kee Mao and Claypot were our entrees; both noodle dishes with vastly different, equally delicious flavor. The claypot was sweet and gingery, the Pad Kee Mao was just classic delicious wide noodles, savory and hard to stop eating. We started with fish cakes and soup (tom kha gai) both were incredible. This was our second visit. On our ‘can’t miss’ every time we visit Houston. Takeout seems popular but it’s such a cute, well-decorated, cozy spot.

It's been nine years since we've eaten here and now after another stellar meal....we wonder why it took so long to get back. My wife got the crispy garlic fried chicken and loved it, it was on the lunch menu and came with a small tasty fried veggie egg roll. I thoroughly enjoyed a lunch menu chicken pad Thai and I had the same two sides...some of the best ever. I enjoyed and grudgingly shared a Thai iced coffee....we'll be back sooner rather than later. Yum. Both lunches came with a cup of soup of the day....today it was vegetable soup.

Google
This is our first time visit and drive around in Houston ~ found this Thai restaurant from google and decided to give it a try! WOW! It turned out they have very decent food and all the dishes we ordered were really flavorful ! we ordered trying tiger, papaya salad, calamari.. This restaurant is a must try! The restaurant is kinda small but the business is good! They have very busy night, even past dinner time like 7:30-8 pm … I highly recommend you give it a try you love Thai food like I do!

Google
I love this place, not very big for dining in area but the food is fantastic! I saw a steady stream of takeout orders going out the door so you know they’re doing something right.

On my first visit to morningside, I was greeted by the manager and I was able to choose my table (for one). I got a curry lunch special! They explained the menu to me very well- Cute place, tasty food and lovely service 🧋 🍲 deserves more recognition ❣️

It’s a good Thai restaurant. I liked the food, its price and ambience. The complementary soup they provide is very very tasty.

Google
The food was amazing & delicious. I love the curry flavors. There’s something amazing about coconut milk, cilantro, peppers and everything else involved. I’m very pleased with my meals. I’ve tried a lot of food with 20 years in the Army. I will be coming here again and with the family. Thank you

Yelp
A friend recommended this place, so we came for dinner! It was soooo good. They have a huge selection of food and drinks to choose from. Literally. I saw boba signs on their door that I initially walked past it bc I thought it was a boba shop LOL! Pretty small inside but we had no issues with seating as a group of 7. Got the classic pad se-iew with chicken. It was sweet and savory, just how I like it. I got to share the pad kee mao with my friend, spice level hot with pork as our meat, and it was AMAZING. It tastes like pad se-iew with all the great flavors, but you get the extra kick from the spices. I'll definitely get this dish again and again. Pork was softer compared to the chicken. Hot was pretty spicy but bearable enough to eat without sweating or panting haha. Food looked, smelled, and tasted awesome. Forgot to take pics before digging in!! I also got to try a sip of my friend's Thai tea and it was legit!! Our server checked in on us every now and then. At the end he rang us up individually with the portable credit card reader. Gratuity is already included in the check and then they ask for more tip on the screen. The total for my dish was around around $19. Parking is plenty!

Yelp
Morningside Thai is a hidden gem tucked away in Houston's bustling culinary scene. Nestled in a modest strip center, this unassuming eatery defies expectations with its remarkable offerings. From the outside, you might never guess the culinary delights awaiting you within. However, step through the doors, and you'll find yourself transported to a world of exquisite flavors and impeccable service. The interior may be sparse, but don't let that fool you. What Morningside lacks in lavish decor, it more than makes up for with its delectable cuisine. As someone who has savored authentic Thai dishes prepared by Thai cooks, I can attest that the flavors here rival even those cherished homemade recipes. Each dish boasts a symphony of flavors that tantalize the taste buds and leave you craving more. One of the highlights of Morningside Thai is undoubtedly the outstanding service. The staff here are not only friendly but go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality truly enhance the overall ambiance of the restaurant. While the menu may lean towards Americanized Thai cuisine, it's a testament to Morningside's versatility and innovation. While you won't find traditional dishes like green papaya salad or fermented rice, what you will discover is a culinary journey through Thailand and beyond. The red curry with roasted duck is a prime example of Chef/Owner Ying Roberts' culinary prowess. Rich, aromatic, and bursting with flavor, it's a true homage to Thailand's culinary heritage. And let's not forget the pad thai--a timeless classic done justice at Morningside Thai. Each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and tastes, showcasing the chef's dedication to perfection. In conclusion, Morningside Thai may not fit the mold of a typical Thai restaurant, but it exceeds expectations in every aspect that truly matters. Whether you're a connoisseur of Thai cuisine or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, Morningside Thai is not to be missed. As for the claim of having some of the best curry in Houston--I wholeheartedly stand by it, and I'm confident you will too after your visit.

Yelp
So we usually get Doordash delivery or take out from here and it's been a pleasant experience overall.. so this weekend we decided to eat dine in with the kids. When we arrived, there was nobody in the restaurant (this was around 530pm), and we were told to wait for a table (when every table was available). A couple arrived a few seconds after us and they were basically seated immediately. We finally got a table situated with a high chair. When we ordered our meal, my wife requested the chili-lime sauce that we frequently get on delivery apps and was told they don't sell that for dine-in and it's an UberEats exclusive (HUH??). They said they would have to charge the UberEats price for the sauce (why can't you guys just say the sauce cost extra..? we would have been okay paying for it). After some back and forth, they came back from the kitchen mentioning that they no longer sell the sauce. The server/host (a youngish guy with glasses) was not very accommodating of my wife's request and insisted that there was no such sauce or it was being axed from the menu (this is completely false as I'll describe later). Okay fine, no sauce... so we go about ordering our food. We weren't super hungry so I ordered a small soup with a thai tea and my wife ordered a soup entre to share with the kids and our friend ordered a curry entre. The server passively aggressively asked if that's all we were ordering when I feel like there was no mention of a minimum order amount and something like a minimum order shouldn't even exist at a restaurant like this. Also, when I asked for less ice, he mentioned the Thai tea would not have the glass full. The server/host was just very combative with every request we made and was a very frustrating experience for everyone. Water was not provided even after the Thai tea was served and we had to re-request the water. Also refills were offered only after we already finished our meal and had empty glasses for the majority of the meal (I had to take water from my kids' cups...). Unfortunately, our out-of-town friend had offered to pay so I had no control over the tip, but for SURE, we would have probably opted for 10% or even no tip because our experience was so strange and uncomfortable on this particular night with this particular guy. I'm not sure if he just had a bad day or what. We don't appreciate being lied too about the sauce either -- we literally just ordered the sauce along with an entre tonight on DoorDash and RECEIVED THE SAUCE, so please next time don't lie to your customers about a product that 1) you DO have at the restaurant and 2) you should be able to sell to dine-in customers?? I have never heard of a delivery exclusive menu item..... I've seen what I presume to be the owner or restaurant manager during takeout pickups and presume none of this would have caused an issue if she was there on that particular night. In terms of food, I think the majority of stuff is quite decent. I would say the curry is a bit watered down to some extent, and the crab fried rice I wish had more flavor / mixed up more as it was more or less just white rice with crab chunks. Their pad thai is pretty good as well as their soups, and I think the Tom Yum is quite good. It's really hard to reconsider coming back to this restaurant or recommending it as a dine-in option after our experience this past weekend. Previously, we had thought this place was a pretty decent Thai restaurant near us with good value.

Yelp
We had a meeting and order some catering food. Turned out to be quite good. Portion wise is great. I had the duck curry and it was yummy. On the part of desserts I didn't like it too much. They add some fragant in the coconut and the taste was a bit weird for me personally.

Yelp
Cute local place. Been going here since I moved to Houston. They moved locations about 10 years ago & the place lost some charm. Food is good, but some days is better than others. I always thought that they might make the curry pastes every other day or so & that one day 2 flavors are better? Not sure, but it definitely can be ok or really good. It's three stars because of the lack of consistency.

Yelp
Needed a quick meal and was craving Thai food so I thought I'd try this place out. I got the chicken satay, tom yum fried rice, and Panang curry with chicken. The chicken satay satisfied my craving and the tom yum fried rice was different, but good. The Panang curry I felt needed more flavor/spice because all I could really taste was coconut. Overall, not a bad place to try!

Yelp
Tried this neighborhood staple with a takeout order and really enjoyed it (came back a few days later for more)! The Tofu and Vegetable Soup really hit the spot with a generous helping of piping hot silky tofu pieces. With the likely addition of fish sauce, ginger, and lemongrass, the soup was super flavorful and didn't taste like just salt. I was pretty satisfied just eating that for my dinner but I wanted to sample the Chicken Porridge that I also ordered... which turned out to be a mistake because it was so tasty that I ate the giant quart of porridge as well (X_X)! The porridge is different than the usual zhou/xifan/jook, as it is cooked with broth and flavored with lots of bright flavors. It didn't need anything on the side (like the usual side dishes or condiments). The dishes were still hot when I got home, so it was a great meal during a dreary evening! The Mince Pork Basil Bowl tasted super-basil-y with just the right amount of sweet, salt, and heat-- totally a treat with the sauce soaking up in the rice! I was a bit disappointed that the pork was mostly all little fat pieces instead of ground meat. Flavorful, yes, but definitely not healthy which is what I was trying to go for :( It would be better if they describe it accurately on the menu as to not mislead customers. The menu is pretty extensive, spanning your usual Thai curry mainstays as well as noodle/rice dishes and salads. The ambiance inside is a little stale; don't expect anything fancy, but the staff seemed friendly from my two visits. Plenty of seating and parking. I'm excited to return and try some of the other dishes in the future!

Yelp
Took a chance on this restaurant by our hotel bc it had good reviews and it was close. Small place, cute inside...the front door had a revolving bunch of patrons picking up food to go. Also a bunch of diners inside....it was bustling. Everything we ordered was tasty and everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked great at other tables. We'll eat here again and will try a few more things that looked tasty on neighbor's plates. Also plenty to take home for leftovers. We could have feed at least 3 of us....rather than 2.

Yelp
Not a lot of seating inside. Service was great! I've gotten the yellow curry and pas thai, and both were good! Definitely a solid and well priced Thai place- would recommend!
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Ordered via the uber eats app. Got the pad thai, the portion was HUGE. Enough for 3-4 medium sized meals. Got the medium spice level, but wasn't spicy. Will try spicier next time. The pad thai was on the pricier side, but definitely worth it, especially for the portion size.

Yelp
My go to for Thai food in the medical center area. Small comfy dining area. Staff are friendly. Food is consistently good! I've ordered to go several times and party trays. My fav dish is the pad woon sen which isn't as popularly known by non Thai folks but I highly recommend!

Evan S.

Yelp
It's not great. A lot better Thai food in houston for similar or even cheaper prices. I have ordered the pad Thai twice from here with chicken and shrimp. The shrimp is definitely better. I also ordered a side noodles that were not very good. Seemed like it had come packaged or something
google avatar

Shalonda G.

Yelp
The food was good and fresh. That was my first time trying Thai food. Nice flavor. I would say try them out
google avatar

Miesha D.

Yelp
The shrimp egg rolls were real good but the fried rice was kinda sweet which threw me off I assumed it was fried rice not with a sweet flavor smh. I literally just left the restaurant and I am disappointed I'm about to eat cereal for dinner in Houston

Yelp
Great Pad Thai. My wife is a fan of their Yellow Curry. Good service in a small place.

George C.

Yelp
This is a great place for catering lunch for a group of people at your workplace. They have party trays that can be ordered. We had the red curry, jasmine rice, Thai salad, and baby rolls. One tray of curry was plenty for 10 people - it could probably feed 15-20. One tray of rice almost ran out, but there were a lot of rice eaters in our group. The baby egg rolls which were a combination of meat and veg deep fried in a crispy pastry shell was delicious! Some would say it way the highlight of the lunch. The salad was good - go for the ginger dressing which has a very strong umami flavor. Next time I will go for the papaya salad instead. The staff at the restaurant was very helpful with ordering. Some items did not come in the party tray size but they were willing to bunch multiple orders to make a tray's worth. Delivery was fast and seamless. Unable to say much about ambience as the food was delivered. I would order lunch from this place again All in all it came out to about $15/head.

Yelp
I had the most unexpectedly pleasant experience today at Morningside Thai. I work in the medical center and the doctor's office I was doing a lunch meeting with requested Morningside Thai. We called in a 15 person order at 11:15 for a 1:30 pickup and they were more than happy to help me. The lineup was impressive; including platters of crab fried rice, shrimp drunken noodles (pad kee mao), spring rolls, a vegetarian noodle dish and more. The staff was super professional over the phone and made it easy to pay for all the food before pickup. When I arrived, I was greeted with gratitude. They really appreciated my business and added in a free sticky rice and a TOO DIE FOR iced Thai tea. The brother and sister duo running the show even helped me walk out to the car with all my food. They mentioned to me that they are from Thailand and even make requested food that isn't on the menu. The food was well packaged and not a single dropped spilled in my journey into the medical center. The staff was so pleased with the food- it was tasty, warm, different and on time. I highly recommend giving this place a try- a friendly reminder to check the spice level when you order if you are sensitive to spice.
google avatar

Trish T.

Yelp
Wasn't sure about ordering from here but so glad I did. I did take out and was happy with the portions and taste of my order. I will definitely use this place as my go to for Thai food.

Yelp
EDIT. Still overpriced for the amount of food and compared to nearby places but the dishes which are basically stir fry, like the Thai Garlic dish, come with good sauces. When I'm nearby and craving Thai, I'll get a simple dish. I've come here many times and it's just ok. The prices are certainly too high. A bowl of one of the common Thai soups is $14 and it's not even filled to the top. They use regular mushrooms in the Tom Kha Gai soup that you can get from any grocery store and not the ones that are usually in Thai soups. The soup is bland. There is not a lot of flavor like I'd expect and get at other Thai places. The fresh spring rolls have the crunchy bitter part of iceberg lettuce and that takes away the flavor. All you taste is the lettuce. The panang curry doesn't have a lot of flavor. It's bland. The dish comes with green beans, which I've never seen in a panang curry. Panang curry usually has red and green bell peppers but theirs does not. The Pad Thai is good although I ordered tofu and chicken and only got tofu on a to-go order. The service is great. It's usually not crowded so the employees are attentive.

Alex W.

Yelp
Veggie rolls and pork egg rolls were pretty good. The pad thai with shrimp was also really good, but I wish it had a bit more sauce to it.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
I've ordered Togo from here a few times and each time it's yummy. The fried tofu (my favorite) is a fulfilling vegan option. The peanut sauce that comes with the tofu is wonderful! The inside consists of only a few tables and it's fairly small, so I'm sure dining in would be an enjoyable experience.
google avatar

Melissa Y.

Yelp
3/5. We arrived at 8:20 and was told we have 6 minutes to order. Which we promptly ordered and waited patiently. Was rushed to eat and lights started being turned off. Food was good though. Service sucks. What a bad experience for the very time in Houston.

Basent S.

Yelp
Small hole in the wall, Thai place I get the pad kee mao with shrimp. So yummy! The waiters are very nice as well well and our fast with bringing out your orders.
google avatar

Stephanie Z.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but was left feeling just meh about it. I tried the chicken pad Thai and egg rolls which were both ok. I thought the pad Thai needed a huge boost of tamarind flavor, and I would have liked more vegetables in the dish. Also, we ordered no spice in our pad Thai but got a super spicy dish. They did give a decent portion of noodles and chicken which was nice. The egg rolls were better - nice and crispy but made mostly of the wrapper with little filling. Delivery took a while so be sure to order ahead to save time if you're wanting to try this restaurant out. This place has promise but could use a few improvements to really shine.
google avatar

Jada C.

Yelp
For my server to be serving the entire place by himself, he sure did an amazing job! My experience was all around great. The ambiance was chilled - it's a very small spot, but they also offer outside seating. Very nice selection on their menu. They also provide lunch specials. The dishes were clean. The food and drinks came out hot and fast. It was so delicious. I will definitely be stopping through again for lunch. I overall give my experience a 5 out 5.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Food improved from two years ago Perhaps new owners Dined in today Rude, condescending and hostile waiter :young man, slight overweight They will also charge $2 for a small bowl of rice after we ordered 5 main dishes, many of them too salty to eat without rice. Last time going there
google avatar

Hayden S.

Yelp
We've eaten at Morningside multiple times and they have great consistency with their food! We've had multiple types of noodle dishes, fried rice, curry and several of the apps and everything has been very yummy. My favorite is the chicken pad kee mow, level 3 out of 4 spice. The serving is ENORMOUS - like two meals worth, the veggies are fresh and it's always piping hot. This is a very dependable choice for solid Thai food!
google avatar

India B.

Yelp
I was in search of pad thai or green curry and Morningside comes up as the best spot near work so I ordered pad thai and a few spring rolls. With all the high reviews, I was really expecting a hit, but unfortunately it was a big miss. I ordered via the app and the pickup was smooth, however, the pad thai was a great disappointment -- no spice at all ( I ordered medium spice) and I hardly tasted the tamarind or palm sugar (like others mentioned). It tasted more like dry salted noodles that got prepared with a drop of a pad thai sauce, I hate to waste food but I won't be finishing that-- I'm hoping that's just supply chain issues but the spring rolls were very good and the staff was nice. Maybe I caught them on a bad day so I'll go back for the green curry and update my review.
google avatar

Vicki R.

Yelp
Cute little place located in the center of a medical community. Lots of professionals entering in and out of this establishment. I ordered roughly about 30 minutes before arriving. Upon entering my order was not ready so I sat and waited. Mind you this was around lunch time. In about 5-10 minutes my food was ready. I checked my bag when I made it to my car and discovered my veggie rolls weren't inside. I called and the hostess said she would come to my car to bring me the rolls. She came with an additional complimentary treat! The food was good. I had the pad Thai. My friend had the stir fried sweet basil chicken. I would definitely return but next time to dine in.

C D.

Yelp
Very good food. We had different dishes and am happy to report, they both had distinct flavors. I had drunken noodle he had chicken dish from there dinner list. He ate all his and I ate all until I was stuffed. Service was good and was up fast and just off the grill, fresh and hot! We wilk be back!
google avatar

Kylie G.

Yelp
Dose not look like much when you see it online but we picked this place on a whim and it couldn't have picked a better place food is so good people were so nice highly recommended

Vanessa P.

Yelp
Food is very very good and if you don't go for the traditionally popular stuff, you'll have a better experience. I eat here often and I'm not a fan of their noodle dishes (pad Thai is too sweet, drunken noodles are meh) and I didn't enjoy their yellow curry but that is a personal failing since I don't usually enjoy potatoes in my food. Their Panang curry, green curry, pad Pet, cheese rolls, and papaya salad are all excellent and I highly highly recommend. Go up on the spice level if you want things to be spicy since they seem to err on the side of caution

Tina M.

Yelp
No complaints whenever we're here! The food is so good, flavorful, fresh made to order and quick. Service is nice and the ambiance is okay, nothing to say there! Can't wait to bring our friends and family here!!

Victor Z.

Yelp
I thought there wasn't a place that could compete with Thai cottage in quality and flavor. Morningside that is a good contender. They're a small operation so you might have to wait a lot depending on the day, recommend organizing your time well and order in advance. Had the Pad Thai and a Soup I don't remember the name now, but both were great and didn't disappoint. Restaurant itself is not too enticing inside, but the food worths either dining in if you have no choice or want to, I'll be definitely a take out customer for them.

Aditi G.

Yelp
Moved in close to the restaurant and was craving some Thai food. Decided to give Morningside a try The staff was really friendly; both while taking my order over the phone, as well as when I swung by to pick up my food I tried the vegetarian green curry. It was tasty and the portion was pretty standard for what you would expect. However there were a couple of things that let me down :/ 1. There was a piece of something crunchy in my curry, which when I chewed it - tasted like meat. I am a vegetarian but have been around meat (and been accidentally served it) to where I can tell it's meat. I'm guessing a grill/wok wasn't cleaned properly for my food or while another dish was being made, this piece flew into my food :/ 2. I had ordered extra side of sauce. I'd offered to pay for it. I was told it would be $3 for an 8oz cup, and I said ok. However when I got home, I was disappointed to find that the bowl was only half filled to capacity (see the photo) I was really excited to post about this place (even took a photo of the dinner menu to share here), but now unsure if I'll go back :/

Mellisa W.

Yelp
Their cashew chicken is amazing. I prefer the mild or non spicy because I am a wimp. Their pad kee mao and pad see ew are also really solid choices. We order take out from here pretty often.
google avatar

Lei B.

Yelp
We tried the Pad-Thai and the Thai Garlic Sauce. Pad-Thai was fantastic super tasty. Thai Garlic Sauce was also good. Definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Leslie K.

Yelp
This has been a staple for us since Nidda went under construction. We usually order the noodle dishes: pad Thai, which comes in a huge portion and the pad see ew. I also like the red curry. Their spiciness level is more bearable than the authentic Thai restaurants like asia market etc. We also enjoy the Thai toasts as well.

Marie T.

Yelp
Food is ok but the service was poor. I ordered a simple dessert to go and the young lady told me it would be 5-10 minutes. I waited 20 minutes. I stood at the counter as she walked around me and told me she had to package my food. After another 10 minutes of waiting I told her to refund my money. She did refund it immediately, but did not apologize or acknowledge that it took way too long. It's simple customer service, you are suppose to help the people in front of you AND when you screw up acknowledge it and apologize. Had that happened today I wouldn't be writing this review and they wouldn't have lost a repeat customer. Simple customer service -lost art.
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick lunch after shopping at the nearby Kroger. I got a spring roll (this was not even warm but the restaurant was slow at the time), rice and ground chicken soup (piping hot and so good), & pad Thai for $11! It was so good. Service was good. Go for that lunch special. But not everything is on the lunch menu, so make sure you ask. Cannot wait to go back to try some other things. One thing I will say is that my chicken pad Thai had tofu strips in it. I'm not sure if that was to make up for the lack of chicken or what, but it really threw me for a loop.
google avatar

Jan M.

Yelp
You know when the food is so good when you forget to take a picture before you start eating and remembering midway. One of my favorite places that serves real quality food which will make you feel like a child. Morning side Thai is definitely a must and should not be doubted at the slightest

Jocelyne M.

Yelp
This is one of my go-to take-out spots! I stumbled upon it when nearly every restaurant was closed on Christmas, and it's been one of my favorite restaurants ever since. Their food is consistently great! The thai toast is delicious, and I love the pad see ew and the crab fried rice. They always give a nice portion too. I don't typically give reviews, but I just had to go out of my way to compliment this restaurant. I definitely will continue ordering from here, and I hope they keep up the good work!

Yelp
I came here at 8:30pm on 2/15/2021. It was the day it was snowing in Houston. I opened the door asking if the kitchen is closed and the lady with glasses tells me yes, but she had orders of vegetable fried rice available. I say cool okay. Next thing you know she walks over and grabs someone's Togo order that wasn't picked up and hands it to me. The order was sitting there since 7:17pm. You know what I wasn't even mad at that, it was a local business, I was whatever with it and I was hungry. What upset me was when two white guys walked in after me and all of a sudden the whole menu is open to them. She stated, "everything on the menu will take an hour to make for you, but the curry chicken and pad Thai is the quickest." Wtf. I turned to the dude that's working cashier and he looks at me and said he doesn't know why his boss did that to me. Dude. W...T...F.... I hate this dang place

Yelp
A-OK of a Thai spot. Essentially we were in the area hanging out with the parentals for a bit at their hotel nearby before heading out to the airport. Long story short, our flight out of Houston was delayed and not having a car to get around this was one of a handful of spots within walking distance we could get to to kill some time. So... Bring on the Thai spice! We showed up on a early Sunday evening around 5pm or so. The spot was pretty mellow. Maybe one or two other tables were there enjoying a meal, but I did notice to-go orders flying out the door like hot cakes. Once seated, waitress promptly greeted us and brought over some menus and ice water. For food, we shared an order of the beef pad se-iew (I've noticed every place spells it differently) ~ wide rice noodles stir-fried with egg, broccoli, carrots and beef and also an order of the curry noodles with chicken ~ essentially rice noodles simmered in Thai red curry sauce with ground peanuts, bean sprouts and cilantro. The pad se-iew was much more delicate than some I've had in Chicago, but still enjoyable. I don't believe curry noodles are traditional but I could be wrong, but I definitely enjoyed those as well. Price point seemed a bit steep for the portion size. But other than that, no real complaints from my end. Not the best Thai food I've every had, and certainly not the worst thus the A-Okay rating. 'Til next time, cheers! 164/365

Yelp
Oh man that was good. Shrimp Pad Pet was huge. Enough for 2 meals. So good I went back for it again the same week.

Yelp
We decided on lunch while in the area. The restaurant was small, cozy and clean. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed in the overall experience. The Tom Yum Kung soup was a tad bit too sweet however it was the most authentic compared to the other dishes. Sweet & Sour Chicken - the batter was nice & crispy but the sauce was overwhelming. Baby egg rolls (10) per order. The "secret ingredients and spices" lacked flavor, the minced beef was very soggy which resulted in the wrapper itself being crisp but the filling was just soggy. Thai Toast - lacked flavor. If you've never had Thai Toast it would be too difficult for me to explain other than saying it lacked flavor. It's like a toasted sandwich except you can't taste anything except the toast.

Yelp
The restaurant is small and quiet with better than average flavor and textures. It is located pretty accessibly in the Med Center area right behind the Kroger's on Kirby. There is not much in the way of parking spaces close by, but as stated before, the dining area is small. Many patrons are regulars and they will make your food spicier by request. At lunchtime, soup and an egg roll come with the entree. I favor dishes such as Drew's Fish ($10.95 lunch special) but have also had the pad thai and other lunchtime dishes. I have gotten a chicken curry at dinner time which was a good portion and still reasonably priced. Service can be slow sometimes as there is usually only one server and the cashier also supplies water, hostessing and brings the check to your table.

Yelp
I searched far and wide for the perfect Thai cuisine. I seek a balance of flavors, with a kick to get my taste buds popping. A quaint Thai place was put to the test. The ambience had my wallet scared, but the menu prices made me feel like I was getting a value proposition. The pad see ew came quite fast, and the proportion made me think it was for 2. But I was ravenous and the dopamine was triggered. The proportions were large indeed, but the tragic story was the flavors were lacking. I had requested for "extra spicy" and what that meant was to simply add more dry chilis. Even with adding extra siracha and chilis the spice level was not adequate. Now on to the service. It was spectacular. They did right by you and made sure you were never lacking. The price point brings value for any guest here, but the lack of flavor disappointed me. Even requesting for a dish with extra spice didn't actually change it much. I would recommend giving it a try with the great service and menu options.

Yelp
This place is the closest Thai restaurant to us so we wanted to give it a shot despite the reviews. But oh man, reviews dont lie. Service was ok. Prices were a little higher than usual for Thai food and for what we got it wasnt worth it. At all. We got a Tom Kha Gai soup which was like drinking a can of coconut milk. But thats not the worst part. There was a piece of metal in the soup. Looked like it came from those scrubbing sponges. Disgusting. The pad see ew, order it without any meat lol. The beef was so tough. It was either old or overcooked. The thai fried rice was decent. But again, chicken was dry. I wont be coming back. Its not worth it. I know what it is to be a chef, put some love in the food you make.
