I’ve been coming here for years. This is a unique nursury. They have a wide variety of plants, and lots that are drought-tolerant. I come here for sage, tyme, but especially lavender. They have an incredible selection of lavendar—variieties you will find nowhere else. Before you settle on plants from a big box store, you must come here to see what you have been missing.

As a Black woman who loves natural and holistic wellness, Morningsun Herbs in Vacaville has become one of my go-to spots. Whether I’m looking for teas, tinctures, or harder-to-find herbs, I always feel like I’m in good hands here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and patient , they don’t just sell you products, they help you understand them. Even when something’s out of stock, they’re quick to let me know when to expect it or offer thoughtful alternatives. It’s rare to find a space like this that feels both rooted in tradition and open-hearted. If you’re on your natural healing journey, this is a place worth visiting!

Google
Love it here, but make sure to bring cold water during the summer. I go here for my mom’s bday presents thank you. Peaceful and very polite staff. Love the chickens and donkeys lol

I recently visited this garden center to buy a few perennial plants for my garden, and I’m so happy with my purchase. The staff was incredibly helpful, guiding me to the best choices for my specific soil conditions. The quality of the plants was outstanding—healthy, lush, and ready to be planted. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the high-quality plants they offer. I left with everything I needed and a lot of confidence that my garden would thrive. Excellent value for the service and products!

Google
Wow! What incredible customer service. They went above and beyond trying to determine the correct variety yucca to match what I already had in my garden. And then the plants arrived in such great condition. Perfect. Packaged so well.

Very beautiful quaint business. There is a variety of soils, plants, trees and herbs. Look for the goat and donkeys that you can feed. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. They really let you roam freely which is a plus too, so you can enjoy and take in nature's fresh air. Definitely will return.

Google
A really lovely nursery in a beautiful spot surrounded by creative landscaping. There's a small petting zoo and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. It's a surprisingly large nursery with multiple greenhouses and different areas for the various plant varieties. As you'd expect from the name, there's a very large selection of herbs, but also lots of other flowering and edible plants. Early in the spring they have bareroot fruit trees, and later in the spring they have pepper and tomato plants. Some interesting and rare plants can be found so it's fun to walk around and look at everything. Definitely worth stopping by.

This place is amazing ! Come for the herbs. Stay for the goat, chickens, and a quiet picnic. 🥰 Of course you need to bring your own food or Starbucks ! They sell homemade soap there, too !

Yelp
Amazing nursery! I highly recommend them. They have a great selection of plants like California natives, succulents, herbs, perennials, trees, and so much more. They also have all the soil, amendments, and fertilizers you need, in addition to some garden accessories. I think I saw a gift shop too! The place was bigger than I initially thought. When you look at the first section of plants, there is more when you turn to the right and walk across the way. They also have display gardens - very cool! I was looking at a nice variety of heucheras and heard this loud, unfamiliar animal sound. It startled me! I turned the corner only to discover not one, but three donkeys. I don't think I've ever seen one before, but I thought that was amusing. The service was good. Everyone was friendly and offered to help if I needed it. When you're ready to check out, there is a bell to ring so one of the workers can come. Prices are reasonable. Most of the plants are small starts which I don't mind. They make for less expensive plants. If you're obsessed with plants like I am, I definitely encourage you to patronize this small, locally-owned business instead of box stores. They have way more varieties. I will definitely be back over and over again.

Yelp
Morningsun is a captivating farm with a ton of greenery throughout, multiple greenhouses and hoophouses, cute passageways among the flowers and scenery, plenty of seating including swings, just a carefree environment for picnicking and/or garden shopping. The animal garden sculptures for sale caught my eye (lots of bunnies!), and the actual farm animals on site, like chickens and adorable donkeys, made me smile. We were able to get up close and pet these lovely creatures (visitors can feed them as well). The place offered endless rows of plants and flowers to explore, from scented geraniums to scabiosa raspberry kisses. We purchased a few plants before leaving, echibeckia summerina orange, red dwarf, and jerusalem sage. Service was great. There's a small parking lot for convenience, too.

Yelp
Selection is awesome. Service was a bit sparse. $5 for a 3-4" vegie is a bit steep.
google avatar

Kristine M.

Yelp
My neighbor told me to come here because he gets all his fruit trees here. He also said there were animals. I took my daughter here and she had fun looking at the chickens and 3 donkeys. U can feed them hay and dry grass that are in a bucket. They have have so many Vegetables and herbs here. I was overwhelmed with the selection. I wasn't aware that there are so many different kinds of basil! It inspired me to want to start a garden. The staff kept checking in asking if we were doing ok. I will come back when I narrow down what exactly I want to plant.
google avatar

Vanessa C.

Yelp
Great plant nursery. They have a nice selection of all types of plants. The last time my fiancé and I went we got to feed their animals. Great stop off pleasants valley road :)

Yelp
The absolute best place in the Bay Area to get herbs. I make the pilgrimage all the way from SF simply because I know I can get everything I need all in one place. Rose, the owner, is the sweetest lady and is very knowledgeable. They don't just have herbs, they have an impressive selection of natives, succulents, Mediterranean and other drought tolerant gems. Most are offered in 4" containers and quarts and are generously sized plants for the container size, so they offer a lot of bang for the buck. Recommended.

Yelp
Morningsun Herb Farm is located 10 minutes from Highway 80; the short drive to the farm is beautiful. The parking lot fits roughly 20 cars. They have lots to see; we easily spent 2 hours here on a Sunday. They have an interesting selection of different herbs and flowers. My purchase was Cathy Blanc Lavandin it's a white flowering lavender and Origanum dictamnus in the oregano family. The dried herb room was filled with hand-made soups, oils, and other locally sourced items. They have a mix of loose-leaf herbs for teas such as sleep tea, calm tea, and self-love tea blends. The animals are in the back; bring carrots or apples to feed them. There is a bucket that has hay and treats. The only downside was that there is no place to sit and enjoy the views the farm has to offer. Pros: -Unique herbs -Herb room and handmade offerings -Farm animals Cons: -No sitting area -No restroom tres diescisiete dos mil viente cuatro

Yelp
I love it here for one particular reason: they have bay leaf (laurel) I searched far and wide to find this particular herb for my mom as a mother day day gift and they have it here ! This herb is an essential Filipino ingredient. Also, they have Thai chili! It's also rare to see that without going to an Asian store so that's also a plus. Lots of different varieties of tomatoes and fruit trees. Reasonably priced and nice staff. 10/10.

Liane A.

Yelp
Absolutly stunning selection of plants, mostly 4" pots and reasonable prices. Top quality stock. Picnic tables, a maze, fun place to take the family and have lunch! Employees are obviously doing what they love and are so friendly and helpful. A treasure.

Jean S.

Yelp
Ordered some cool plants from them and all are thriving. Will order from them again

Yelp
I visited Morningsun Farm at the recommendation of a coworker who is an experienced plant mom. She loved them due to the fact it's locally owned. I really want to keep practicing with caring for plants. It's a nursery, garden, and a farm all in one. There's plants, fruit and vegetable plants, pots, soil, and anything else needed to make your garden grow. There's walkways all around the property to view plants and even sit at a bench. There's a mini "zoo" where there's donkeys, a goat, and some chickens to view and pet. You can find signage throughout of where to find plant types and hoop houses (basically green houses). The prices of plants aren't always visible and I heard one of the employees unsure out how much to charge a customer for a particular pot before me in line. They really should work on making their prices more visible and pricing system more transparent. I will give them credit that their plants are affordable. I stuck with drought friendly plants for purchase (my coworker thinks they are beginner friendly): lavender, and a couple succulents. I will stop by Morningsun Farm again. Most definitely earlier in the day when I have more time to browse. I came an hour before closing, which I wouldn't recommend unless you know for sure what you're buying.

Yelp
The beautiful and healthy plants you will find. MSF team is knowledgeable and helpful. The whole farm is such an experience and so peaceful

Amanda L.

Yelp
Great selection of a vast array of plants. We've purchased fruit trees, many varieties of lavender, drought tolerant and native plants. The plants are grown on site so you know they will do well in our climate. Friendly staff including the donkeys, chickens, cats and dogs. We miss Goose the goat.

Yelp
What. A beautiful nursery nestled in the mountains. Fantastic selection of tomato and veggie plants. Also flowers and shrubs. Found some black prince tomatoes that are normally hard to find in sacramento. A must visit. Make it a day trip and plan a picnic nearby.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Amazing variety of plants at reasonable prices. We usually get the special that they run on planting mix and soil.

Yelp
I was on a quest to find EB Stone Organic Compost for the garden and Morningsun had lots of it! I love this stuff. I picked up loads of other soil products and a couple plants. They have sooo many garden plants and a couple other surprises. I could spend the entire day browsing this location. The staff are nice, knowledgeable, and helpful!

Isabel F.

Yelp
Great variety of herbs and plants! You can literally spend the day there and enjoy the animals and scenery. Customer service is great too! Very helpful!

John F.

Yelp
We have been here plenty of times and today was special for me. Morning Sun sells Corinthian wind chimes and this chime we wanted for years because of the rich key it plays. So there weren't any plants purchased today but we got what we really wanted.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Excellent plant selection. California natives, succulents and much more. Sign is quite hidden, look for the US flag. There are two parking lots so if you miss one catch the next. I wish they didn't have livestock in pens. Several places to sit in the shade and even have lunch if you bring one. Can be very hot in the summer so bring water and a hat.
google avatar

Yelp
I found out about this farm a location and the local Vacaville pamphlet. The best part about it it is a pretty good size area with stuff to see and check out. The parking is somewhat small but everything else is pretty nice. As you walk down the wrong path to check out the plants you can see that there is lots of stuff. Just make sure you only go in places that give you access to see stuff
google avatar

Maile T.

Yelp
This is my favorite nursery to come to. Everything you can think of that can be planted, is here (during its season). My blueberries and strawberries comes back every year. The staff here is absolutely amazing.

Yelp
This place is huge. I use a lot of herbs in my cooking and was looking more on the organic side. They did not disappoint. They had lots of herbs, veggies, flowers...you name it. They even have purple tomatillos. The lady who took care of me was very helpful. She helped me look for what I was looking for. They also have potting mixes, fertilizers amendments etc... She answered all my questions. Parking can be limited but I went during the week so it wasn't a problem. I will definitely come back for more herbs.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
Another great visit to Morningson. Stopped in to pick up my favorite herbal tea, only available from here. Was also assisted by a woman employee with information on peach trees for my home area. Very knowledgeable and friendly. You won't find customer service like that at a "big box" or home improvement store.
google avatar

Yelp
Service slow, reluctant! Great selection. Good value! Granted it is in the 90's, but that made me want MORE service!!

Betty W.

Yelp
Wonderful selection. Love to go and just wander the grounds. Good descriptions on all the herbs so it feels like an educational experience just checking out the plants. Everything I've purchased there has done exceptionally well. My basil lasted two seasons. A great value to get such healthy plants.

Yelp
I really like coming here, very cute herb farm with lots of things to pick from. They even have a lavender farm! The staffs were friendly and helpful! This will be my go-to nursery from now on!
google avatar

Evelyn M.

Yelp
We came because there was a FB event but it did not look like there was an event and the field of lavender was just a row not a field. Place was easy to find parking is very limited but nothing to complain about since later on when I got back home I saw the day of the event was then cancelled.

Yelp
Great service from knowledgeable staff, vast selection of plants, organics, herbs, CA natives, very organized hoops of started plants, cute areas for resting, fun small farm animals, and restrooms available. I will return for more to fill my raised garden beds.

M. R.

Yelp
I have always gone here for my plant needs first before big box stores as they always have items that you can't find anywhere else AND I like to support local shops. They are reasonably priced and my plants never have any transplant shock or die. I have been shopping here for at least 8 years but in the past few years, I have not enjoyed ANY of my experiences. I wish the staff was more friendly when you ask questions. I always feel like I am a nuisance when I need help finding or asking a question. They never seem like they want to be there helping you. I've been there 3 times in the past week (and purchased multiple items) and never once felt welcomed. When I did ask a question I would only receive one-word answers with no help to gain a better understanding of the plant I was trying to purchase or help with my concern about it. I know there's always work to be done but if you're in the business of selling to customers you would think you would want to encourage and help them. I did not expect to find better help at our local Lowes where even my kids love going there more (except they miss the bikes). And maybe that's why I get treated that way. My kids are with me? I know that Morning Sun Herb Farm will always be a store that I will stop in due to their ability to sell items I can't find but they are forcing me to pick other local places before them. I have resorted to stopping at another local nursery in town first because their customer service is always on point and they never make me feel unwelcomed. This store may be higher in price and not have the selection I need but they don't make me feel uncomfortable

Yelp
Great place. Has all kinds of herbs, fruit trees, succulents, and plants. Nice small shop where they have loose teas, seeds, aromatherapy oils, soaps, and other nic nacs. Lots of beautiful pots and garden decor for sale. Almost everything you need for the garden.

Yelp
Who knew this hidden treasure was in Vacaville? This darling nursery is not visible to the main roads. I suggest using your GPS! I for one did pass it up by accident, due to the surrounding residential homes and farming land. I originally came here in search of a humming bird plant. Why? They are my favorite birds and I would love to find them magically flying in my backyard. Watching these beautiful creatures while listening to the hum of their wings is actually quite therapeutic =) When you see the sign of "Morning Sun Herb Farm" make an immediate left and you will find yourself in the parking lot. Then make your way towards the gravel path to the back. As you walk you will notice there are mini gardens around the business! On your right you will find wagons of small and large size to place your purchases or you can leave them at the counter. Usually I'm greeted "Hello" by a human. Don't be startled when you are welcomed by deep barking dog voices. They have come to say Hello! They were very sweet when they came up to sniff me and after went back to their owner. One of them actually followed me and the owner while I was being helped and gave me a lick, CUTE! Also in the back you can visit the donkeys. One of them actually walked over from the shade into sun to say HI :) I'm not savvy on the types of plants or have a green thumb, but it is evident this specialty nursery does have a VARIETY of healthy and lively plants for you to bring home. You can tell the plants are cared for. That includes "culinary/medicinal/ landscaping herbs, unusual perennials for humming bird and butterfly gardening, drought tolerant perennials, scented geraniums and heirloom vegetable starts (Taken from their advertising card)." The owner Rose is very KNOWLEDGEABLE and was very PATIENT with me and the many questions I had. Having no experience with gardening, she was able to help me find the perfect one. She even had fun tips about the one I chose (Agastache,'Red Fortune'). I could actually use the leaves for tea and the flowers are edible! In the end I purchased: Agastache 'Red Fortune' ($4.50) Lavender Bundle ($3) - She has useful tips on how to preserve them. $7.50 is a great price for healthy locally grown plants! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a new scenery from the usual Home Depot or Lowe's. Thank you Rose for making my first visit a good experience :)

Yelp
Great variety of flowers and vegetable plants. Perfect for your garden. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I love this nursery. I can find almost any herb for sale here. I've purchased very healthy fruit trees and many vegetable starts.

Yelp
This is a wonderful nursery. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Great plants!

Yelp
FIL visiting from Hilo and looking for a specific tree and after a phone call we visited Morning Sun. Thanks to yelpers general description and pictures l would have never known the beauty of this garden, just right in our back yard. Exquisite plants, fruit/wood trees, gorgeous flowers, and herbs. They have a couple of live animals in back too; happily snacking away on fresh delicious shrubs and appeared very well-fed. Workers here are very informative about their products/plants...presented a sense of welcome and wonder of the garden, felt immersed in the beauty of Mother Nature. What a beautiful hidden gem in Solano County. Needless to say they didn't carry the tree we were looking for, but they were happy to direct us to another plant/tree nursery. Stop by if you're ever in the area...parking is tight but manageable.

Beth e.

Yelp
I love the selection of healthy, organic herbs and vegetables. Since I've moved out of the area, I haven't found a place that compares.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite place to get anything plant-related, whether it be potting soil, succulents, tomato plants, herbs, etc. By no means do I have a green thumb, but I feel like gardening is growing on me more and more as I visit this place and expand my garden. I can't recall how I stumbled upon this place for the first time; I think it might been during Open Farm Day last year, but it truly is a hidden gem tucked away in the rural part of Vacaville. Parking is limited, but I've never had any issues getting a spot, even considering I only go on the weekends. The farm itself is fairly big and all of the plants are clearly labeled. It's fun to walk around and learn about all of the different types of plants. Who knew chocolate pear tomatoes existed!? Lately I've been buying a lot of their vegetable and herb plants to plant in our backyard. Right now we have a variety of tomatoes (chocolate pear, celebrity, isis candy), bell peppers (purple beauty, orange sun, red baby mini), millionaire orient express eggplant, Italian parsley, and eversweet strawberries. If I had room, I would buy more since they have berry bushes and a large variety of fruit trees too! This is also my favorite place to get succulents since they have a big assortment of different types, including mini ones which are perfect for DIY terrariums or succulent arrangements. Whether you need veggie plants, culinary and/or medicinal herbs, sugarberry ruffles for your planter (I kid you not, this is a real plant and it's beautiful!), or any other plant for your garden, this is the place to go to. Forget buying potting soil and plants from Home Depot or Lowe's and support your local businesses! Be sure to also check their website for upcoming events and subscribe to their mailing list for their latest news and updates. They also have a few animals including chickens and donkeys in the back, which are always fun for kids (or adults) to see!

Yelp
I live at this place it seems like at least 2 times a year. Rose the owner is the most knowledgeable person I know in regards to herbal plants . This is the first place I go to get edibles. The hole staff is amazing knowledge and know how. The rooting system on everything you get is amazing. She can grow from seed for you or order for you even hard to get items. The selection here is vast whether medical or tea gardening or even hops if it's edibles you want to grow call and come here first. Parking is a challenge sometimes but worth it. You may have knowledge and YouTube but they have the experience!

Yelp
Always exploring nursery's and this one came as a little surprise for how close it is to me without ever hearing of it. One of the best nursery's I've been to! Neatly organized, with friendly staff. Gorgeous flowers, trees, herbs! So many plants! Great place to explore!

Yelp
So beautiful...huge selection. Their grounds are worth the trip anytime. They have a huge selection of herbs and other plants including succulents.

Yelp
What an amazing Nursery. We discovered them at the Annual San Jose Master Gardner's sale at Kelly Park this year. We enjoyed speaking with the very friendly and helpful people while admiring some of their herbs and plants. They gave us a flyer for their " Annual Open House " in Vacaville....so of course we had to go! They have a great location in the hills and trees outside of Vacaville a few miles off Hwy 80. Since it was an open house they had quite a few activities going on. There was food tasting, several vendors and herbalists. There were also some booths from Sonoma County on conservation efforts and irrigation. Of course some food and a lot of very friendly and helpful people. They had presentations on a wide variety of topics throughout the day. We had to venture into their amazing Nursery and ended up with quite a few plants as well as some herbs. Our cat loves the Catnip! The staff were all very helpful and you could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing. They definitely knew their stuff and were great at answering questions and explaining things so that you could understand them. It was a bit of a drive from San Jose but we are so glad we went. It will definitely be a required stop whenever we pass by that way. Give it a try, your yard and garden will benefit if you do!

Yelp
I was recommended by a friend and colleague to check out this nursery. I've always been interested in other forms of healing and was wanting to find lavender to grow in small little pots. When I visited last Saturday it was a very rustic nursery that had all forms of life from herbs, plants to cook with, and a black cat that roamed freely and owned the place. It's quite a spacious place where there's donkeys, the friendliest goat ever, and some healthy chickens. And the sweetest red dog that hobbled over to say hello. But back to the lavender...there were so many that I had to stop and sniff every one of them. I was a little lost until I asked one of the staff that I was looking for the sweet lavender. She asked if I was looking for some for cooking, making soaps or essential oils and I told her I just wanted something that smelled good. After showing me to the area, I was planning on purchasing one maybe 2 plants and wasn't sure if 1 big pot would suffice for the 2 and she said, it's best to get 1 pot for each plant as they grew rapidly. After buying 2 I went back the following day to buy 6 more. Highly recommended place.

Yelp
My wife and I recently visited Morningsun Herb Farm outside Vacaville to shop for a few herbs and plants for our house. We just moved to the area a few months ago and are finally getting around to starting our garden and landscape our house. Dan approached us as we were wandering around one of the greenhouses and asked if we needed any help finding anything. We told him this was our first visit, so he immediately went to showing us the layout of the nursery and where things were located, showing us different plants along the way and filling us with knowledge as our green thumbs are the best. My wife was admiring the lavender plants and Dan took notice and explained all the different types and the main differences between them. Through his guidance my wife settled on a certain type and was very thankful of his help. He was not pushy in any way, he was just being extremely helpful and kind. While strolling through their garden, Dan popped by and told us to try eating a few herbs off the ground and picked some for us to try. We tried a cucumber tasting oregano and it was delicious! After finding a few things to purchase, I shook Dan's hand on our way out and he mentioned that he was the owner and is around from time to time and that his staff is just as knowledgeable as he is if he's not around. His hospitality and knowledge was more than we were expecting and he's turned us to a loyal customer from the start. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is worth the drive to get to. The owner, not super warm and greeting, but other members of her staff are. However, what she lacks in warmth, she more than makes up for in her knowledge and variety of plants. Everything there looks amazing. Many items of an edible nature, including some of the perennial flowers. So many versions of an herb. For example all the different type of basil or oregano. Speaking of oregano, they have Mexican oregano plants. While oregano is not really oregano, it is an awesome plant. The donkey is fun for the kids. They have carrots and other items to feed them. Vacaville can be hot, so it would be ideal to go first thing in the morning. Oh, this place was listing in an article in Sunset magazine! What did I learn today? The plants look great in my yard.

Yelp
Last year I purchased all my Summer vegetable starts here resulting in a great crop. I had previously purchased their tomato and pepper starts at their stand in the Napa farmers market. Great group with high quality products

Yelp
We've been driving up all the way from Emeryville regularly since January. We'd heard from a market in Sonoma that they were the stockists of 'Magic Mountain Basil', and we had to get some! We bought a few things in January and February, and have bought several pots of the basil since March. We love this place! We were there yesterday, and bought new flowers to plant. The staff are fantastic and friendly, and there is plenty of space to roam around (make sure to see the donkeys!). We've been recommending to all our friends. A great place!

Yelp
I love how dedicated the staff and owners are to the public by making sure they could stay open to provide the public with plants and supply's needed to make a garden you c as k eat off of.

Yelp
We loved visiting Morningsun Herb Farm. The staff are very friendly and helpful... who we asked a million and one questions as we wanted to start growing fruit trees and herbs but we are without much background knowledge or experience on how to do either. The grounds are beautiful, lots of options, and feeding the donkeys was a nice and fun surprise. We are much enjoying the trees and herbs we brought home, knock on wood, we haven't killed them yet :D
