Cannot wait to go back! I had a pabellón arepa, a chicken empanada, a beef empanada and a passion fruit juice. The pabellón arepa was too good! I don’t really eat arepas (I’m a bad Venezuelan, oops) but I couldn’t resist because pabellón is my favorite. The shredded beef in this arepa was great, it wasn’t tough to eat and it was full of flavor. The empanada, which was actually a pastelito is made in the oven. I told the owner, Esteban, that they are pastelitos, not empanadas, he told me it’s easier for non-hispanics to have an idea of what the item on the menu is if described as an empanada which made sense to me. The chicken in the pastelito is shredded, these pastelitos are pretty darn tasty! I wasn’t a huge fan of the beef one but it was alright too. I’m definitely looking forward to more chicken “empanadas” haha. The passion fruit juice is always a fave for me because it reminds me of back home. Very refreshing I really enjoyed this little restaurant. They recently celebrated their first anniversary, I wish them many more ☺️ The owner is super friendly, so Venezuelan. There is limited seating, only about 3 stools and a table by the window, which I guess is fun for people watching :p I love that they show some of their menu items on their Instagram, I hope they add more photos and videos. It’s always helpful for people who are trying food from another country for the first time to see photos. Oh! There is also a lady who makes custom cakes and cookies here, Sweethaze cakes but I did not try any of them. Very pretty cakes, you can check them out on Instagram

One of those places where you want them to succeed, but also want to keep it a secret because it’s great. It felt like a good change from the typical NYC cafes - so we were happy to stumble upon it. The food and drinks were delicious, the owner was so nice and chill, good value, and a really nice atmosphere. It is small with only a few seats though. Follow them on Insta @morochascafe !

Such a great place honestly!! The arepas are so good, I got the Reyna, and it was absolutely perfect as a little LES lunch. I also got the coconada milkshake which was SO refreshing and yummy, wasn’t too sweet which is perfect. The atmosphere is so nice and relaxing and felt so much like a Latin cafe I’d go to with my family. Owner is also so nice!

The el gato arepa was delicious! I ended up getting a second one and also got some extra passion fruit and panela juice to go. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! I love arepas and i felt at home.

Authentic and delicious Venezuelan arepas of many different flavors! Great capuccinos made with high quality Ethiopian and Colombian coffee. Try the ginger sugar cane lemonade and the chocolate or passion fruit pudin! (Definitely not an average one) Esteban, the owner is such a great host and artist! Highly recommended.

Arepa vegana is so good! Gluten free too 👍🏻 gives you great energy and absolutely delicious. Also good coffee and espresso here. This is my first google review and honestly this place was too good not to share!

🙈 Here’s the thing—we stopped by three times, and twice, the place was closed despite the listed hours. A quick Google Maps update on unexpected closures would go a long way 🙏 Despite that, we absolutely love the hospitality and the unbeatable arepas!

Yelp
Best empanadas and arepas in New York City. The owner is one of the nicest and caring people you will ever meet. I have been there four times this week because the food is that good. The empanadas take me back home as they taste very similar to my grandma's. You can 100% tell the food made at Morochas Cafe is made with love and care, so y'all must go try their amazing food!
