Morris County Library

Huge library that is very clean and not crowded. The employees are friendly, helpful and seem to constantly be happy! This library has two floors, plenty of computers and at least one computer lab. It a breath of fresh air to come here!!!

Very accommodating staff. Library recently added new study desks. It would be a great place to study... BUT.. if you need Internet access.. forget about it. Very poor wifi and equally poor cell phone reception. Sometimes you can log on, sometimes not. I was told the teens section is better. As an old man, I'm not hanging out in the teens section. Bottom line, if you absolutely need Internet go elsewhere.

If you are thinking of using the study rooms or desks for anything online, find another place. Wifi is terribly spotty, and cell reception is equally up and down.

I contacted those in charge of curating/selecting the books/movies to make a request and they could care less to even remotely consider my input. They were too lazy to respond until I contacted the head of library and I basically got told I’m at the mercy of their opinions and what they want. Therefore, my tax dollars are wasted by someone getting paid a yearly salary to slack off and buy whatever they just think is relevant.

Another beautiful library in Morris County. Very large, exceptional employees, if there's any books videos you can't find? They will order it for you. They also provide many programs for children and adults alike to join. 5 Stars!!!

I love this library, since I have been using the resources for years. The only beef I have is the weekend hours. Even if open half a day, working and students may benefit.

They were open on a Saturday!❤ I love libraries..They are such a gift wherever you live. It's quiet. You have a huge assortment of books cds video movies . Full service copiers and printers . I'm new to the area and it was my first time checking the library out. The 3 ladies at the checkout were super nice and helpful with getting me a temporary library card and figuring out the which library I should go to since I live in parsippany. I didn't catch their names but they deserve a shout out! :)

Great library with kids section, DVD, CD and even vinyl records. Hosts small events on a regular basis.

This is an extensive modern two floor library offering a full range of educational and entertainment options. E=Books, autobooks, DVD movies, sheet music, film resources, WiFi, computers, 500+ continuing educational and personal development courses both self-paced and instructor led, as well as, a large children's section. My favorite part of the library is the online access to 7,000+ online newspapers and magazines. The worldwide selection of the top newspapers from around the the world is an indispensable resource for me. I also find my favorite periodicals as well, like Scientific American. Science News, Smithsonian, National Geographic and Discovery magazine. You can have most of their materials shipped to your local library which can be very convenient. Download their cloud library app for further offerings.

Yes, it is a nice well maintained library with a full staff, however I stopped going there because I consistently had WiFi problems.

I'm a fan of the enormous music collection at the Morris County Library, tremendous range of CDs and they're usually in pretty good shape. Be sure to check out the rotating art in the cases in the main lobby, occasionally they display sculptures made by one of my neighbors :-) The only thing I don't like is that this library is closed on Sundays.

Came here with my boyfriend to do work and study. The library is really big-- there are two floors with lots of different selections of books. We went to the second floor to use their study room. You have to talk to a librarian to get it unlocked and tell her how long you'll be in there for. The librarian was very friendly and nice, she did her best to fit us in the schedule since we didn't schedule ahead of time. The room very clean and quiet-- I was able to focus really well there. However, I noticed the wifi can be a bit slow and spotty on the second floor. We moved to the first floor since our time for the study room is up. We found a college section for students who are studying for SATs or already in undergrad. They offer a lot of resources and material that people can borrow. The wifi was definitely a lot faster on the first floor. Overall, I really enjoyed doing work in this library and I will definitely come back here again.

This is your basic county library. Bigger than the branch libraries. Smells like a library. Clean and not old, but not too new either. Just very library-ish. To me, the best thing about this library, besides the bigger selection, is the chairs for reading. The chairs seem newer than the rest of the place, and they are upholstered. But I love them because my feet touch the floor. Flat. My legs are short, and I often can only touch the floor with my toes. Here I can put my feet on the floor in the chair like a normal adult. And I'm not talking about the kiddy section, this is the adult section. Of course, if you are a tall person, you might not like this feature. The other nice thing is that this library has its very own traffic light. I think that's swell. It is a traffic light to turn off of busy Hanover into the parking lot of the library. It has a sign, like a street sign. But it's not a street, it's just the library. I think that's so cool that the library gets its own traffic light. I'm sure beforehand lots of bookworms waited hours to try to turn left on this busy street into the library, but how often do the powers that be listen to bookworms? I think it is wonderful. It also makes it very hard not to go to the library if you're driving by; you can see the library coming up, you know it's there, then the light turns yellow as you approach so you can't speed by... of course you turn into the library! Maybe this is better than the chairs.

Does your library have some sweet ass vinyl cuts? Yeah, I didn't think so. Morris County Library is pretty awesome. I mean, they don't have robots or unicorns retrieving material for you, but you know if they had the money they'd seriously look into it. PS - Unicorns are real. It wasn't until college that I started to take advantage of their extensive music collection. I remember going home during my junior year and heading to the library to work on some jazz homework. I found THE best library collection here. You want it, they got it. The librarians are really great. Very patient and super helpful. Since my local library was closed (and you need a local card to check stuff out), they were really awesome and issued me a temporary card so I walk out with all the material I had researched. As for the book selection, of course it's outstanding. It's everything a county library should be. I know I should be more specific on something, but there's really not much else to say!

Morris County Library Website: http://www.gti.net/mocolib1/ Morris County Library Delicio.us bookmarks: http://delicious.com/morriscountylibrary/Morris This is a huge library with many free events such as a hefty children's reading program (all ages), free movies on Fridays (at 2:00 p.m.), free career seminars, computers (internet), free concerts, crafts for kids (needs reservations), online databases, etc. It helps to navigate to the website, sign up (RSS feed) for their blog that lists events, etc. The MAIN library system allows you to reserve books via the internet for delivery to the library (all Morris County Libraries, so pick the one in your town). This has literally saved me thousands of dollars in book purchases. I used to spend $60.00 a month at Barnes and Noble. I NEVER buy books anymore. I've signed on to the MAIN e-mail newsletters with book recommendations, click on the books I like, reserve them on-line and pick them up at my library when they become available (they call me and leave a message on my cell). If I need to renew a book I can do it online so I never have late fees. Then when I'm done, I can return the book - no storage issues no space issues. MCL has a number of Book Clubs and constantly has exhibits that are interesting. They rent PAINTINGS (prints, really) that you can actually hang on your walls (worth checking out for hilliarity) and you can borrow DVDs for FREE. Before I bought my mother a ROKU player (I have Netflix), she would rent all sorts of classic DVDs from MCL. It's cheaper than Blockbuster but with less of a selection. MCL carries all sorts of computer and children's books which can be reserved/taken out. They must have some VERY SERIOUS MLS (Masters of Library Science) graduates out there because they are constantly putting forth "Delicio.us tags from the library" http://delicious.com/morriscountylibrary/Morris and http://www.gti.net/mocolib1/local.html (Guides to Morris County and New Jersey) and guides to New Jersey services, etc. As far as the librarians themselves, the women are usually quite pleasant with sunny dispositions. There is one gentleman who works at the reference desk (he must be working on his novel because he is always completely uninterested in anything I have to say - I always ask for directions - anyway) whom you need to watch out for - first he ignores you for 15 minutes as he is far too important to pay attention to your needs, then he is superbly CRANKY as he is researching your question! Anyway, great library for hanging out in, great computer system (albeit quirky) for reserving books if you like to be in and out.

I lived here in high school, especially senior year (kind of ironic, I guess), and everyone knew about it. No shame, no shame. I practically camped out at the MoCo Library for two days as I wrote that dreaded AP LA4 paper. My fellow HP grads know what I'm talking about. Anyway I've come here to do my homework, to study with friends, to write a paper, and to do some intense research. I became friends with one of the librarians. Does this make me a loser? Possibly, but the loser in me thanks those librarians to many an A. I kid you not. I love coming here. Super easy to get to, exit 1A off of 24, takes me 6 minutes door to door. Sometimes I have books held for me at the Morris County Library just to take the trip, though there are closer libraries. I love this place.

Very efficient and safe way to pick up reserved books. Just call ahead 30mins and call them when you find a parking spot. They will bring up books to your truck contactlessly. Stay safe!

My go-to library. I had been admiring how pretty the flowers planted in front and on the west side of the library had been since spring, I thought they had hired a professional landscaper but when I stopped by today, I saw one of the librarians gardening and planting flowers (someone told me her name was Ellen). This is dedication! The garden on the west side of the building is really quite beautiful. Just another reason to visit this library where they always have interesting art collections and displays (love the giant chess board) and friendly people at the check-out desks.

This library is always my first choice over my hometown library because: 1) It is easy to get to and parking is always available. 2) It has helpful and relatively easy-going librarians. 3) It is well-lit. 4) It is well-stocked. I have been going to this library for years and appreciate their great and free Music/Media collection. Before I rent or buy anything, I check Morris County Library first.

I have only been here several time and I love it so far. It is a little hard to get your card if the staffs do not know your street. They will have to call the police to make sure your are residence. I like the $1 book, sometimes show up at the entrance for sale.

This library offers more than a vast catalog or literature. From the artwork, meeting room and even the sitting area this library is a cut above the rest. I especially like how easy it is find what you are looking for and how they made an effort to make different activities available for various age groups. Its more than a place to read. It is a place where you can socialize, quietly of course but still have fun.

Excellent library - huge study/work place, quiet and clean. Nice window study nooks. Pretty good hours.
