Great company! Alex and his mates were super accommodating. We got fresh oysters right off the dock and couldn’t be happier!

Google
What a gem of a place! We purchased 2 dozen pacific gold oysters (a dozen each of the small and larger oysters) to take home which included a bottle of hot sauce. Alex was so welcoming and helpful, answering all of our questions about the oysters and giving us a short tutorial on shucking. They have shucking tools and gloves for purchase. We had a fun and memorable experience shucking our own oysters, which were really delicious! Don’t let the little nuggets fool you, their oysters are plump! Since they farm their oysters and are the suppliers for surrounding restaurants, you can’t get any more fresh than this. Our experience with Morro Bay Oyster Company was awesome, and best of all, everything was reasonably priced. Thank you, Alex! We’ll be back!

Fresh oysters from the bay with distinct watermelon taste profile. Very friendly and helpful personal work there too!

Finally made it to this iconic oyster spot in Morro Bay— amazing oysters that we were able to order ahead of time and arrange for a pickup! So fun being able to get them and enjoy them at the source, truly the best, freshest oysters one can get, can’t wait to come back!

Approachable, easy, affordable, and delicious. Made great family memories popping over and getting a few dozen to take home to shuck and enjoy. Parking was easy and the view was unreal! The two men working there today were so welcoming, kind, and helpful while working hard. The way they welcomed us made us feel like regulars on our first time over. While there I read that they recommend calling ahead which we will do next time to be respectful of their time, but you would never guess with the hospitality we received. Got some local Pacific Gold oysters which were so delicious and fresh! My anxious-to-raw husband enjoyed alongside us oyster-obsessed.

Stopped by Morro Bay on our road trip. Alex at the Morro Bay oyster Company helped us out and was really cool. Gave us a great tour of the facility and told us all about how they harvest these beautiful oysters. Thank you for making our trip special! The oysters were delicious.

Stopped here by the water for beers and oysters. Lovely spot next to the water. We were able to watch seals and otters swimming past while watching the sunset. We would have loved to have eaten here but it was too cold sat outside, although the food from the fish shack looked amazing.

Alex and Josh hooked me up with some proper oysters. You should go get some proper oysters yourself for yourself.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! We emailed a few days in advance to place an order of two dozen oysters ($25 per dozen), and heard back confirming our order would be ready. Picked up oysters at 11:30am, Neal was super welcoming (and gave us plenty of ice!). We drove just down the road to the Coleman park picnic area (no tables at the dock). We brought our own shucking tools, but they had ones available. These are the most incredible oysters--deliciously crisp, buttery, and light, and easy to shuck. We had a little lemon and homemade mignonette, but they were so fresh and delicious they hardly needed it. They are midsize, so two dozen was the right amount for two people. It's quite a drive from LA area (3hrs 30min), but was so worth it.

Yelp
Morro Bay Oyster Company is a legacy business. These oysters are great for our health, especially for antiviral properties. I was surprised to see them being sold at some of the Whole Foods locally in California, a real bonus! This company is a reflection of coastal fishery heritage. I have friends who like to BBQ the larger shell oysters, I prefer the medium to small and raw. The 24 Gold Carrot hot sauce is a real nice accent, it does not overpower the oyster. Either you love or dislike oysters, and these are the only ones I enjoy as I'm not a huge shellfish fan, but I found a home here. Your best bet is to buy these retail from companies who sell them. I was able to have an order shipped direct and they arrived fresh and well packaged. The shells can be mashed and go to your chickens are add to your organic garden soil, everyone will be happy and it replenishes the minerals needed in the cycle of life, nothing goes to waste! True stewardship of all the God given gifts we enjoy.

Yelp
If you love oysters and find yourself on the Central Coast, or just live here, don't miss Morro Bay Oyster Company. The oysters are super fresh and full of flavor -- no extras needed. Even folks used to East Coast oysters will be impressed. It's a low-key spot and kind of a hidden gem. Totally worth the stop.

Yelp
Excellent fresh oysters, owner and staff provide the freshest oysters I've had in Morro Bay in the 10 years we've been going there. Great service, nice sincere people. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Back in September 2023 I placed an online order for ten dozen Pacific Gold oysters, a shucking knife and a pair of gloves. The oysters were great -- I was happy with my order and although I do wish I had ordered the slightly larger reserve size for a little more meat per shuck, there was nothing really to complain about with the "star of the show". The taste was deep, sweet, fresh, and exactly what I had expected for Morro Bay oysters. The shucking knife definitely helped to make quick work of shucking ten dozen oysters without worry of inflicting self-damage, so if you don't have a shucking knife or something relatively dull and sturdy with a pointed tip I do recommend picking one up. The ordering process was smooth and my oysters were shipped/delivered quickly in a cardboard box containing a styrofoam container with my oysters and a few reusable cold packs along with the shucking knife. Unfortunately, the gloves I had ordered were not in the box. I contacted the company twice via email and phone/text message -- I got one response via phone acknowledging the missing gloves and was told they would get back to me. No response since then. Although the gloves were only $7+tax which isn't going to break my bank, I never got the refund (it's the principle). I gave the company time to satisfy the email request and issue a refund, but it's now Jan 2024, still no refund and I'm not one to chase and beg a company for a refund after I contacted them twice about it; hence, the reason why it's being highlighted in this review. So just be aware if you are online ordering with this company; my recommendation is if you're ordering oysters along with other things, maybe order them separately so it's hard for them to miss or ignore? Order the accessories off Amazon? Or just assume the risk that you might not get everything you ordered and you'll be ghosted on any refund or resolution.

Yelp
Hands down, these are the BEST oysters we ever had. I had tried pacific gold oysters before at restaurants and always loved them. So before leaving Morro Bay, we had to stop by to bring some home. Also, you can't beat the price, if you buy a bag of 60pcs it comes out to only $1.41 per oysters. Such a steal IMO, since most of the time you'll pay $3-4 per year oysters at the restaurant. They also offer fresh finger limes for only $5 so of course we grabbed a packet too. The finger limes add such a nice pop and citrusy finish to the creamy, sweet and slightly briny oysters. So i highly recommend getting it too! Here is how I dresses the oysters: + mignonette + frozen grated lemon zest + thinly sliced scallions + a squeeze of finger lime + Tabasco sauce + horseradish Soooo good!

Yelp
Amazing oysters and their jalapeño sauce is delicious. Super well priced too compared to other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
They are closed until end of summer! Their webpage or Yelp did not inform us about this. We arrived and there is just a sign saying so.

Yelp
Just a tiny stand alone at the end of the Morro Bay Pier, Morro Bay Oyster Company farms some delicious oysters. I didn't take a picture of the menu but as of 9/20/2020, they had a dozen XS oysters for $16, a dozen Large or Preserves oysters for $22 and Cowboy oysters for $4 each. They take credit card and while they don't shuck the oysters for you, you can buy the gloves/towels/oyster shucker there if you don't have the utensils. Their packaging is great as they give the oysters to you in a bag of ice and place that in a cardboard box. The ice helped preserve my dozen of Preserves oysters all the way back down to Los Angeles. The oysters were creamy, had the right amount of that brine and tasted fresh. I would recommend coming to this place if you are willing to shuck your own oysters!

Yelp
Top notch oysters, great price, and even better customer service. Neil is the best. Give them a call to see when they are open for pickup, sometimes you need to make a reservation, sometimes they have a store front (Friday and Saturday 10-4 as of my visit on this date). They sell gloves (please for the love of God get gloves) and shuckers for $20ish. He'll even box it if you're headed somewhere other than down the street! Really nice guy that is definitely passionate about what he does. Some of the oysters we got, he had brought in hours before. I think a little restaurant/picnic area is coming soon... Looking forward to seeing that come to fruition. You are doing yourself a great disservice if you are in the area and don't take advantage of having the freshest of fresh oysters...

Yelp
Pacific Gold oysters are as good as any oysters I've ever tasted. They have exceptional flavor and texture. Just had some today in Los Olivos CA at Bar Le Côte, with Mignonette sauce and cocktail sauce. Absolutely delicious.

Yelp
There's nothing like fresh oysters and fish. Great atmosphere and fast service. Very popular but worth the wait.

Yelp
We got to this shop on my birthday right before leaving morro bay and heading back to Palm Springs. I picked up 2 dozens of oysters with knife, glows and instructions. The guy who sold them was very good at demonstrating how to shucking them! Was a fun adventure for my birthday entertainment at a Palm Springs camp ground! Those oysters were soooo delicious! I got medium and small ones. I preferred small once's and my hubby the medium! I highly recommend this place! The freshest oysters! They were packed so well in a beautiful box with lots of ice.

Yelp
So we made it just In the Knick of time!!! Literally she was about to close. We bought her last 2 dozen oysters and opted to shuck them ourselves. What an adventure! Lol. They were spectacular, just like the epic view! Can't wait to come back and try them again!! If you want fresh oysters... this is your spot!

Yelp
Best oysters I've ever had! Can't wait to come back and get 10 dozens. Our go to spot 2023

Yelp
We got there right before he was about to close it for the day. There were 3 levels (sizes) of dozen oysters and we got medium sized oysters for $19 (plus $20 for oyster shucking knife). He taught us how to shuck the oysters and we did it by ourselves. My kid had fun shucking them more than eating them! Oysters were so fresh and creamy, it was soooo good!

Yelp
Great little shuck-your-own oyster stand with a fantastic view. This was my second trip to MB Oyster Co. I will definitely be back for more. You can bring your own shucking kit or buy one there. They also sell bottles of hot sauce. Yummy!! The customer service is excellent! They now have a seating area on the patio. This made for an enjoyable Fourth of July treat with my friends.

Yelp
I guess I'm just a bit confused. The owner has submitted photos posted on Yelp of barstools and umbrellas and what looks like an opportunity to eat oysters on site. Several reviews sound like they got oysters on site. Yet when I showed up and approached an employee on the dock I was told "we're an oyster FARM, not an oyster restaurant," and turned away. Not so much as a suggestion as to where I could go to get some. Maybe she was busy, or ready for home, but either way, helping me didn't appear to be even at the bottom of her priority list. And asking about town at a few spots, I couldn't find Morro Bay Oyster Co. being served anywhere, either. Oddly, Morro Bay restaurants serve oysters from Oregon? So although I have loved the Instagram I've followed for over a year and really looked forward to trying some when I finally made it to Morro Bay... the interaction left me disappointed. I guess social media is as close as I can get to their beautiful bounty.

Yelp
5 Amazing Stars We drove down from the Bay Area to try these oysters and they did not disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend the Pacific Gold Reserves. Some things to note: * You shuck them yourselves, so bring your own shuckers and gloves like we did * No picnic/shucking area. We brought ours back to the rental * You don't have to, but I recommend bringing a cooler Currently open Friday and Saturdays 10-4, but do call ahead to make sure when you decide to go.

Yelp
Excellent oysters and Customer Service! We'd never tried Morro Bay oyster Company previously. Have always got our oysters from another source. Judging by the quality of our two dozen mediums, friendliness, and excellent customer service I know we'll be going back to MBOC again.

Zosha W.

Yelp
The Morro Bay oyster Company is my go to spot in Morro Bay. Their oysters are always fresh, delicious and straight from the bay. I usually take my oysters and eat them at home, however they offer a nice patio to shuck your own oysters with a great view of the rock.

Yelp
They are opening a storefront but we were able to snag some lovelies right from the boat this afternoon. Great price, and they were able to help us keep them cool for our drive back to Paso. Can't wait to come back to see them!

Yelp
In my family, we consider ourselves a bunch of "foodies." We all enjoy growing, cooking and eating together. We also strive to support local small farmers in our area. We are so lucky to have Morro Bay Oyster Company in our backyard. Not only does Neal Maloney grow and supply the very BEST oysters available, he is hands down one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
