"The Morse Farm sugar shack is a highly rated creemee specifically because it is, for lack of a better term, very mapley. The intense maple flavor is a result of this farm’s own pure maple syrup, known in Vermont for decades." - Kelley Ferro

"Morse Farm is a throwback to a quieter time. Pay your respects to the farm’s resident goats, Rex and James, then spend a little time on the walking trails that traverse the farm’s sugarbush. When it’s time for a fuel up, head over to the Sugar House, where the owner Burr Morse serves up maple 'creemee' soft serve ice cream, as well as maple taffy, made by pouring boiling syrup out on snow."

We stopped by the Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks shop and had a lovely experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and immediately explained the different stages of maple syrup production to us. All the products looked super fresh and high-quality – we honestly wanted to buy way more! The farm itself is beautifully located and makes for a great short visit. A sweet little stop we’d absolutely recommend.

Google
This place was fantastic: @morsefarm . Probably the best maple creemee I’ve had so far. Maple tasting (vanilla maple 🤤), adorable gift shop with so many fun things (we got all the maple creemee merch because we’re obsessed), and educational maple video. A wonderful stop. You go through downtown Montpelier to get there and that’s charming as well.

Google
Such a fun stop on my Vermont road trip! Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks had a free maple syrup tasting that went from light and delicate to rich and dark—so cool to taste the difference side by side. I tried their maple ice cream and saw they had maple coffee too. They even have goats you can feed and tons of cute maple candies. Super charming spot—I definitely plan to come back for more sweets next time I’m in Vermont!

Google
Perfect place to learn the maple syrup process. Tasting room was closed during our visit but we were able to sample several delicious flavors from cinnamon, bourbon, to jalapeño. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Trouvaille B

Google
They have a gift shop where you are also able to et ice cream, sample maple syrup, and also walk a short path to see the syrup lines. There are a few areas to check out that show/tell the history of the place.

Steven Flores

Google
Cute little shop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got to do a small tasting of the different grades of their pure maple syrup. Ended up purchasing a handful of bottles to bring home to family! Also got to try their famous maple cremee. Without a doubt the best soft serve I've ever had! (bonus tip: try it with their "maple dust"). They had another shed a few yards from their main shop where you can watch a video on their history. We went on a cold day so it wasn't the best time to explore much of the grounds. But overall we loved our visit. If you enjoy maple you'll love this place.

Google
I love Morse Farm for their huge selection of maple products — they’ve got something for everyone. I mainly go there for the ice cream, which is always delicious, but the best part is how friendly the employees are. Always great service and a nice relaxed vibe. Definitely a local favorite!

Google
We stopped in on a Monday and toured the farm. There is a cute video playing in the upper sugar works area explaining the maple syrup process. We had a creemee, which is how Vermonters refer to soft serve ice cream. Don't get the chocolate swirl, it will overwhelm the maple flavor. Lots of cute maple kitsch, we bought syrup and towels and some candy.

Ann S.

Yelp
They are located on a hill so you'll see a nice view of the mountains. They offer free syrup tastings and sell multiple things with maple syrup/sugar inside - ice cream, floats, milkshake, coffee, etc. They also sell a decent variety of local souvenir goods besides maple syrup. The staff are nice and welcoming. Tried their maple milkshake and I'll rate it as 5/5. Loved it and would get it again. Not sure if a tour is offered as I had no time left but I highly recommend visiting.

Flory W.

Yelp
We were here because it was part of our tour package to visit and tour here. It was a very educational and enjoyable visit. We learned so much! It was like taking a class on Maple Syrup. We had a special syrup tasting. There's also a souvenir shop. We missed the ice cream, I was outside riding the swing under a tree, taking photos of the fall scenery mountains across from the farm, and having my private moment! (While hubby was shopping for some hoodie & coffee cups, his two favorites).

Shayna H.

Yelp
Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks is a local staple. It has been around for 8 generations and they make the most delicious pure maple syrup which is available for purchase in their gift shop. Also in the shop you can purchase Vermont souvenirs, cookbooks from Burr Morse himself, and delicious creamees. You can also do a free maple tasting to get an idea of which flavors you like. On the grounds you can also watch a video about the process of tapping maple trees. The video is captivating and comical as Burr Morse tells the story of the farm. The views are wonderful and there are trails to walk along on the farm (although we didn't have time for this). Give yourself about an hour to spend here. It really is such a wonderful place.

Jenifer Y.

Yelp
The Maple Creeme was sooooo delicious!!! You must try it if you are in Vermont! They had a wide variety of every maple product you could imagine.

Joyce Z.

Yelp
After having the Morse Farm syrup with our breakfast at the B&B we were staying in, I immediately came to Morse Farm to pick some up to go. Unfortunately, we were only traveling with a carry on so could only buy ones under 3.4 oz that would fit in my Ziploc bag. I am so glad that they had a maple syrup tasting area as I originally picked up the light ones to buy only to find I enjoyed the darker ones better so got to switch. Being in Montpelier for an overnight last minute after a funeral meant I didn't have time to do research and missed out on the Maple Creamie. Too bad I can't get those shipped. I did get a quick walk in on their Maple Trail before rushing back to check out and head back to Logan for our flight out.

Jo N.

Yelp
I LOVED that a family member is talking & handing out the maple syrup to the visitors. The old house is the gift shop and sweets shop. If you get a maple creamee , be sure to get the maple granules sprinkled on top. Watch the movie and take a little walk to see the pipes that are still hooked to the trees. Sadly, because we were there in the middle of the afternoon, many of the maple products were not on the shelves any longer. I wish they would restock so that customers could have all there is to be offered.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Amazing staff and products--highly recommend! 10/10 for quality and service. definitely will be coming back.

Chloe T.

Yelp
If you're in the area, be sure to stop by Morse Farms. I would however not recommend going out of your way to stop here. The store is nice and full of maple and other local items. Make sure to grab a thing or two of maple syrup. We enjoyed tasting 3-4 syrups at the free samples stand and learning the difference in flavor and why that was the case. The video of the farm and process is nice. You can walk up a trail and see some trees that are ready to be used to get syrup. Nice goats on property. I would only allow for an hour or so here!

Misha S.

Yelp
Absolutely the best maple syrup I've ever had. They have gifts, different types of maple syrup (light to dark!), and TASTINGS! I thought for sure I'd be a DARK maple syrup sorta gal, but was shocked to find I preferred the medium color way more for day to day use! (The dark tasted a lot more like honey) Definitely take some photos, there's a huge view of beautiful trees from front door. PLUS a mini version of the GORGEOUS Vermont state capitol building to take photos in front of. If you're in Vermont, DEFINITELY visit! They also have "Creemees" (ice creams), but ran out of maple just as we arrived, so I can't speak to it!

Vijay N.

Yelp
The best kind of farm store - very close to town, tons of nice local gifts for sale, a nice area to sit and relax out back, and a delicious, perfectly textured, boldly flavored maple creemee! The staff were so nice to let me order off menu - the tiny cone was plenty of ice cream, and I was able to top it with cookie pieces instead of sprinkles to get extra flavor and a crunch texture!

Josh H.

Yelp
Came here with my buddies they are like my brothers. If you don't have any brothers that is ok go get you some. I got me some in my blood and in my brotherhood. This place is top notch if you with your brothers. My first ever creamie experience and we got the dust on it and it was crazy so crazy my buddies went back to get another and one of them got dust the other one said "no dust for me I already dusted up" Also they get you water cups for free which is big because I have been dehydrated the past couple of days. Dehydration is no joke I think our leaders of the country need to be more serious about it.

Amy T.

Yelp
Went out of our way to visit this place. The general store with all of the variations of syrup and local faire was so neat. They had maple flavored ice cream. It kind of just tasted vanilla but it was good. We spent way too much money here.

Emma H.

Yelp
Surprisingly deserted on a Saturday in November, so most of the tastings and attractions/tour elements were unmanned. The store was open and gifting free small maple creamees, but since the shop was only stocked with cheap touristy items and not much worth buying, we were in and out in minutes and regretted the detour.

Lise G.

Yelp
The absolute best Maple Creamie that you will ever have! Trust me; I've been making the trip to Montpellier every year for the past 25 years. You will not be disappointed!

Colby F.

Yelp
I went here in hopes of finding a spot that would give a true VT syrup experience. My expectations were exceeded! They offered 6 different types of syrups for free tastings: light, amber, dark, very dark, bourbon infused, and cinnamon infused. They were all fantastic. The maple icecream was reallyyy good- very balanced flavors and not overpowered by maple. The workers were also very nice and welcoming.

Margarita G.

Yelp
Great products! I loved the video but sadly their customer service needs some training. Talked to two different staff during my visit and both were sadly not great.

Ginger S.

Yelp
Great maple ice cream and loved feeding the goats! Super friendly people and gorgeous location. A must-see! Loved the tasting table too!

Shasta G.

Yelp
I have stopped at several farms, historical buildings, etc. on a "taste of New England" bus tour. This one is hands-down the most enjoyable and informative. Most impressive of all, the gift shop is diverse and reasonably priced!

Monica L.

Yelp
Stopped at Morse farm on my way out of Vermont and had the famous creeme along with a quick maple syrup sampling. The view from the farm is stunning and the out back farm has a nice video recording with the history of the farm and the process of making maple syrup. I would say this is a pleasant and wholesome stop.

Chris L.

Yelp
We were in Vermont and needed to find a quintessential maple syrup place. Saw that Morse Farm got good reviews so decided to make this the stop, and we were so happy we did. They have a video you can watch to learn about making maple syrup. They do tastings of the different kinds of syrup. And they have maple creemees - yum!! We had a great time.

Kelly O.

Yelp
This was a fun, unique place to stop. The area is pretty small you are likely to stay about 20-40 min at this farm. We got to sample several different types of maple syrup. They have several items in the store with maple in it (nuts, candy, etc.) along with lots of syrup for purchase. You can look around outside they have some art and a spot where you can see where they make the syrup. We got maple soft serve ice-cream. It just tasted like vanilla, unfortunately. But we did purchase some yummy syrups that will be enjoyed with our breakfast very soon!

Marie N.

Yelp
We arrived 5 minutes to closing on a Sunday and the staff was pleasant and patient. Did not rush us at all. The vibe was super "Vermont" with wooden finishes and ample maple syrup knickknacks to take home. It was beautiful. The ice cream choices was easy. THERE IS ONLY ONE! Lol maple ice cream which was delicious!the staff was sweet enough to share another local find where we got some yummy apple cider donuts. The local love was evident! Must go. :)

Nolan R.

Yelp
I got a Loaded Nachos - creeme on waffle cone chips with maple syrup and maple sugar. This is a fantastic way to get a ton of maple flavor. Creeme also seemed particularly creamy here. Staff was kind and there's a very nice pair of goats in the back. Inside decor is very local and woodsy

Jenny G.

Yelp
This farm gave me a different vibe as I walked in. It doesn't scream home and homemade to me. Whereas, it is a place to just buy things like maple syrup, maple of all things and more, and most highlighted was they have creemes. The creeme us very weak as compared to other creemes we tried. My son says it tasted like vanilla. I only taste the maple taste in my first lick then the rest tasted like vanilla. Nevertheless, we had to get some maple syrup and hubby grabbed the maple seltzer from the fridge. It was a taste that we never has before. It was a pleasant surprise. Likely maple taste and like seltzer which I enjoyed. If any one knows where to get this in NY, please let me know. I am craving the taste again and I am not a seltzer drinker. This is the only seltzer flavors I ever liked. The people are not as nice in my opinion which is weird to me because all the farms I have been to in Vermont the people are very nice and jolly beside this one. Maybe it was one of THOSE days. It was raining really hard. OK, let blame it on the rain. Lol. This is the only farm that we ever been to with animals. Meet Rex and James. They looked hungry but we had nothing to feed them. So cute sheeps we met. Probably won't be back. BRAGG farm is so close to Morse, I just save a stop and get straight to Bragg.

Natalie D.

Yelp
Very kind and friendly staff, informative (and delicious) maple syrup tasting, delicious candies and soda, and very cool tour room!

Charlotte A.

Yelp
I do think that Morse Farm may have the absolute BEST maple creamies in all of Vermont! Insanely fresh-tasting and rich! I highly recommend getting the maple sugar topping--it's very sweet but just a thin coat of it gives the creamie a little kick!

Kate S.

Yelp
It was cute and good but nothing to go out of your way for! We wish we got the swirled creamis separately because we couldn't really taste the difference in maple and pumpkin it was just all pumpkin!

Marilyn G.

Yelp
Made a pit stop here during our New England fall road trip and we weren't disappointed! A fun family owned establishment with lots to do on the property. Maple syrup tastings, tours, and even a little area where you can walk around on your own to look at the actual tree taps and collections for the syrup! Ordered some classic creemees and wished they existed in the south!

Alicia N.

Yelp
Visited in the summer during a road trip through New England. We arrived close to closing, so we didn't get to make a trek back to see the trees. That being said, I was happy to be able to get a creamee and to see the store and many of the exhibits. The employees were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my creamee as well. Families were milling about the property or sitting at the tables outside. Really lovely place, and the views are so green and gorgeous. Then again, most of Vermont is gorgeous. Definitely worth visiting.

Tim S.

Yelp
Nice place to stop for a cold, sweet treat- Maple Creemee! Very tasty indeed! Other things to see- model of the Montpelier capitol building built in 1929. And two goats-James and Rex. They also sell many different maple products- syrups, candies, etc. A must stop if you're in the area!

Sandra M.

Yelp
As a native vermonter, Morse Farm is my go to for maple creemees, goats, blueberry picking, and sugar on snow. I always pick up some extra bottles of maple syrup for gifts as well. Could not recommend more

Abby W.

Yelp
When I started to research things to do in New England, I kept seeing this spot pop up for their maple creemee and knew I had to try it. I ended up getting a small of this iconic soft-serve ice cream and even the small was a lot. If you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely for you! I was content with a few bites, which isn't to say that I didn't like it. I just can never handle a ton of sweetness at once, but it was well worth trying for a unique Vermont treat. There's also a gift shop with a variety of maple syrups, cheeses and other local goods.

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
Five stars for the maple creemee and the views. The trail was much shorter than we thought it would be. The video room was pretty small, and there weren't staff about the tank room. Two stars for the inattentive staff at the store/ice cream shop more concerned with talking to each other than being kind to customers and moving the line along. Regardless, we enjoyed the treats we got here and the maple syrup was really great. I only had one other creemee to compare to but the flavor of this one was really pleasant. I've since seen there are other similar sugarwork farms with stores, so if we came back I'd probably try elsewhere before coming here but I'd still say the product was good.

Shane W.

Yelp
i visited morse farm on 4-12-24. it is 5-2-24 and i still don't have the syrup i ordered. these guys are complete clowns & absolutely incompetent!!!. . . not to mention completely unprofessional. i guess the education system is not the best in vermont. the shipping manager, jake m, said he was going to provide me a refund for the bad experience back on 4-25-24 & i still have not heard anything from this fool!!! don't visit this place & certainly don't order anything as jake m is not very intelligent.

Gabrielle P.

Yelp
Lovely generational family owned store and farm~ There's a window at the side where once can order creamees or a drink. The prices for the creamees are really affordable for the amount you get! I would go for the small or mini next time. Medium is good if you have 1-2 more people to share with. I loved the variety of maple syrup products that were up for sale. We got the maple drops and kisses. I was a bit hesitant because my bias made me think of really sugary cane sugar candy. However, they're made of maple syrup and didn't taste cloyingly sweet or sticky like a wrapped up caramel! The lady who let us sample the different types of maple syrup was really nice and friendly. It was an interesting experience, and I learned a lot about the varieties of maple syrup(light to dark amber) that I didn't even know existed. Fun fact: it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to produce 1 gallon of maple syrup! The Morse Family is really passionate about maple syrup and all the wonderful things that go along with it.

David T.

Yelp
We came here after ben and Jerry's tour. When we pulled in we were excited to see this place as we saw it was the oldest or one of the oldest sugar houses. When we pulled in, the place has a old feel to it. We walked into the shop expecting to see like the working ways of maple syrup. Unfortunately, no one apparently does anything until April. However, the letdown was after going to sugar bush maple house, the samples are very few. Sugar bush had a ton more which is much appreciative. The Morse farms, has a video which I guess in common. The video was funny. I also liked the creemee served. I know they were known for this. I wouldn't waste the drive if you're coming from far away, however, if you're close why not take the drive. Nicest people, but I wish you could see more of the making of the syrup.

Catherine J.

Yelp
What a treat. I loved this place! I agree with other reviewers that it's nice to feel like you're supporting a local business. Make sure to go in the little house to watch the DVD about how they make maple syrup. And if they don't have the samples out in the shop, just ask and they're happy to oblige. Outside, there's a replica of the beautiful State House, which has been used in parades for decades.....and of course you can get maple creemees!

Joe M.

Yelp
Loved this place can't wait to go back when its a little warmer. I want to take a tour and taste some great maple syrup. I had some of the candies and yum. Lots of cool things to see.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Amazing spot to see a working maple farm up close! friendly staff, quiet cozy area, and amazing treats to eat there and take home as gifts! The video presented in the handmade wooden theater was very informational and fun to watch. Can do the trail, video, and fabulous gift shop in about 2 hours or less.

Helen M.

Yelp
Love your Maple cones and sleigh rides in the winter and your pumpkins in The fall we always get them there you had the best and your vegetables are wonderful and your strawberries I love your strawberries I guess everything about your farm and vegetables is just wonderful you do such a wonderful wonderful job at your farm and vegetables and fruits especially your mackintosh apples I love mackintosh apples I always get a bottle or two of them and keep them in our cellar.

Jared G.

Yelp
Okay the maple creemee is out of this world. If there's any reason to visit it's that one. Yes the farm is quaint enough and you'll learn about the maple tree tapping process but ultimately the creemee was the thing I'll think about. But let's not forget the man himself, Burr Morse. He makes wonderful (occasionally sensual) wood carvings out of trees found around his farm. I never spoke with the man but I saw him on a tractor and he matched the grizzled old farm man vibes I think most people are looking for in the farm proprietor. Overall I recommend a visit (I know nothing about other maple farms). And don't forget the maple creemee with the maple dust and maple syrup added on top (crucially!).

Kristen B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful property, anytime of year! The views and grounds are so great to spend time with friends and family! Of course, their creemees are not to be missed, and they have lots of other treats at their stand and inside their store! We have probably done the self guided tour and video watching a dozen times, but we love just walking around! The store has so many great local products and goodies, and I believe they will box up and ship right from there. A word to the wise, from a local--please have addresses and what is going where ready when you get in line! It is a small space, and with only a few checkouts/employees, so being ready to go is essential to their business!

Madison M.

Yelp
This place was great! Everyone that works here is so kind and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and give you a great experience. We got to taste all 4 types of syrup in the shop and watched a great video explaining the syrup making process. The narrator of the video was hilarious and it was very educational. While we were there, they were picking fresh strawberries and we bought them as soon as they arrived at the store! We didn't try the creemees but everyone else seemed to like them. I also got some maple fudge that's very sugary and delicious. Highly recommend stopping by for your Vermont maple fix!

Joan L.

Yelp
While staying in Stowe we took a little side trip to the Morse Farm Maple Sugar Works in Montpelier. The Morse family has been making maple syrup in this area for generations. At the farm you can visit the Sugar House, sample different varieties of maple syrups, and taste countless other food made with maple syrup. There is also. bar that serves creemees. After a bad experience at Dairy Creme, we had to taste the Maple Cremee here. Well, the Maple Creemee with Maple Dust at The Morse Farm was fabulous! It was thick and creamy, with just the right amount of maple flavor. It seems that the creemees we had tried at Dairy Creme were just bad! As soon as we walked in to the Sugar Works, Jake, one of the family members working there, chatted with us about the farm, the family, and of course, maple syrup! He was very friendly and helpful. You can taste several fresh maple syrups, jellies, maple butter, maple popcorn..... This place is a little of the beaten path. There is not much around it. The main part of Montpelier is about 10 minutes away and looks very quaint (doesn't everything in Vermont seem quaint?) Montpelier is the state capital and there is a Vermont History Museum there. I would have had to drag my boys kicking and screaming into that museum but they did enjoy Morse Farm. It is a scenic ride to the Maple Farm and I think it was well worth it.

Dustin R.

Yelp
This place is the definition of a tourist trap. If you want to purchase high quality VT maple syrup at a reasonable price please go elsewhere. Morse farm exists for the throngs of tour buses to buy overpriced mediocre maple products and souvenirs. The maple syrup is lower quality than the other nearby farms based on the product I sampled at the syrup tasting counter and it is the most expensive I have seen in VT. They charge $39.95 for a half gallon of syrup! You can get better maple syrup across VT and NH for $28.95 to $36.95 per half gallon. The maple cremees are listed on multiple websites as one of the best of VT, why I have no idea. They are an equivalent to vanilla Dairy Queen soft serve. Our three maple creamees had 0 maple taste, just plain ole vanilla. The only thing maple related was the 'maple dust' a fancy name for a maple sugar coating that is a 60 cent add on. This is a must add if you want any maple flavor in your creemee at Morse farm. If you want to get a maple creemee with actual maple flavor you don't have to go far. The Bragg farm's maple creemees have strong maple flavor and the place is not an overrun tourist trap. All of our family members were surprised at how much better the Bragg farm creemees were compared to Morse. Also Bragg's maple syrup is higher quality and sold at a slightly lower cost. On the plus side, Morse farm does have a lot of land to explore and a few cute goats for the kiddos to pet and feed.

Rebeka M.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Morse Farm while on vacation in Vermont. The farm itself was really cute, with wood carvings by Burr adorning the various buildings. I recommend walking the Maple Trail in the back so you can see some of the tubing used in the network of sap collection - it was really educational especially since various tree species are labeled along the trail. The workers were extremely kind and informative. You can do a taste test of the 4 grades of syrup they offer, every one is so good! Also, you have to get a maple creemee while you are here because they were one of the best we had while in Vermont. The best part was they were DOG FRIENDLY so we were able to bring our pups into the store with us and around the farm. Also it was really cool to watch the educational video and see the actual equipment they use to evaporate the sap to make syrup. So glad we came here, it was a real treat!

Nikolai K.

Yelp
Really awesome place. I convinced my girlfriend we should go here to try the maple creamee, and of course she was super down because she knows what's up. It was delicious here. Very good price for a huge soft serve ice cream which tasted amazing. Sweet maple ice cream, not too sweet though, and exceptionally smooth and creamy. That top note, that cream, that's a 10. Of note, everyone was super friendly here. We ran into some regulars of the store and learned a bit about the interesting history of the farm and its founder. I would highly recommend checking it out if you're visiting the area.

Joop V.

Yelp
Really love this place! Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks is a little off the typical path, but it's something that my SO and I looked up last minute as we were already around the area in VT on our road trip...and we were happy we stopped by this place! The place isn't so big or anything and the people at the shop were super friendly. You can take all your sweet time to look for all things maple syrup/maple related in the shop or you can take the time to do a quick walking tour on your own outside on a short trail to see different types of maple trees, maple syrup production facility..or even say hi to their pets! My SO ended up getting different types of maple syrup from the shop (and he was happy with the variety of syrup concentration/taste that they offered!) and we also got the maple syrup soft-served ice cream, too! Overall, we had a fun stop visiting this place (30min-1hour is more than enough for the stop!). P.S. even if you aren't interested in buying maple syrup, stop by their cafe! They have all things maple syrup for you to try..ice cream, coffee, etc, you name it! :) ..and oh...the soft-served ice cream with maple flakes on top was soo generous..that we immediately regretted getting the large size...a small/medium would definitely have been enough for us!! :)

Great place and the service was great and quick checkout You get to try out a sample of the maple kettle corn and the syrup Great toys and items and clothing for all ages You got to feed the goats and the food was very cheap only 50 cents But there was no internet and no electronics and their was no supervision and this girl almost killed her brother with a nailed price of wood
