Morston Hall

"A few bites in and it’s patently obvious that Galton Blackiston is a chef with a deep knowledge and appreciation of the great produce found in Norfolk. Whether picked from the kitchen garden, foraged from nearby beaches or delivered by local fishermen, the ingredients are superb, and are treated well in dishes with classical flavour combinations. The conservatory looking out over the garden is the place to sit in the summer months, while those staying the night can choose from contemporary country house bedrooms or more luxurious garden rooms." - Michelin Inspector

We have just had another 3 might stay at Morston Hall and it was fantastic as usual. From the comfort of the rooms and friendly and attentive staff to the outstanding food - I don’t know many places where you get a different tasting menu every night. You can see how Galton has kept his Michelle Star for so long. The quality of the food and use of local produce, even from his own kitchen garden shines through along with his passion of what he presents on a plate. If Galton is there he joins in the service too which its great to see him. We have booked again for next year. I can recommend a stay or just a meal for a special time.

So refreshing to visit a restaurant where things are done properly! From the initial greeting, crisp white table linen and proper tableware, attentive, pleasant and professional staff, lovely views over the gardens to the actual food itself. Superb Sunday lunch with all dishes executed perfectly. Well done Galton and team; keep up the good work!

One of the best tasting menus ever ! We came to MH during our 4 day break in Norfolk. Our first evening could not have been more wonderful. The canapes were exquisite made even more memorable by the main man, Galton Blackiston, bringing the dishes out and explaining them to every guest. What a charmer !||The star dish for my wife and I was the roasted cauliflower dish - sublime. The other thing that made our visit so special was the high level of service from the team where everyone we spoke to knew their stuff and were highly personable.||Book now - you wont be disappointed !

We came here to celebrate a special anniversary and had the Saturday lunch. Galton himself brought us some canapés and talked about each one. They were delicious! We then sat down for five courses - each one exquisitely served and tasting superb. There was no rush and it was all very relaxing. All the staff were friendly and attentive. A lovely occasion. Thank you.

Booked afternoon tea for a family celebration. Felt welcome was a little unfriendly. Food well below par. Website shows champagne and was never offered. On revisit of webpage, very small reference to optional. Fresh brioche was dry and bland. Sandwiches very disappointing- tomato and chutney with cheese had no cheese! Ham and Mustard was ham and marmalade with tough ham. Coronation chicken had no flavour and little curry. When I asked what cheese scones were to be eaten with - just butter was the answer. Cakes underwhelming with vanilla and cherry choux best of bunch. I asked for my mint tea to be refilled - just water was added which really wasn't what I'd expect of a Michelin star establishment. Loo had loose lock to boot. Think Moreton Hall needs to look at its standards - not exacting as you'd hope

Arrived to such a lovely welcome and was shown to our room (Blickling), enthusiastically described by Sophie, with fabulous views over the beautifully tended grounds.||We were invited to a drinks reception with canapes served by Galton Blackiston, followed by the seven course tasting menu, each course being described by the waiting staff. A lovely selection of matching wines were very professionally described by Sophie with her knowledge and enthusiasm contagious.||All in all, a fabulous night's stay.

Booked a table for a friend special 90 birthday and asked for a bit of a fuss on this special day. Nobody even mention it . Even more surprisingly we were given one Sunday lunch menu. When asked why drinks menu were plentiful and only one food menu was just told it was for us to share. Michelins star place? Was very hurt for the indifference

Enjoyed the 'new launch' Sunday lunch today and we really enjoyed to start 3 canapes and breads , then a choice from 3 starters , 3 mains and 3 deserts . Great selection to suit preferences for each course , great tastes and fantastic value . Excellent service and a warm welcome .
