Memorable Restaurant Reviews by Retiring SF Chron Critic Michael Bauer | Eater SF

I would like to thank Morton’s Steakhouse-Charlotte for making our anniversary such a memorable occasion! I thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine, service, and ambiance! The waitress was phenomenal with her menu recommendations and was such a delight (as were the servers). Everything from entrance to exit was amazing! It is almost a month later, and thinking about our anniversary dinner makes me so proud to have someone who cares about the small details. Thanks again for making the small details such a BIG DEAL.

My mom and I came here prior to going to see Wicked a few weeks ago. When we arrived we were told there was a wait for our table that we had reserved, which was fine as we assumed they were getting it situated. We waited at the bar. The bartender was patient while we figured out what to order; HIGHLY recommend the lavender cosmo. Now, when we were told our table was ready we had a problem: walking and martini glasses are not a great combo. Initially, the hostess didn’t understand having someone bring our drinks to the table, but once we were handed off to a different host he handled our drink with ease. So, why is my rating for service four stars? That comes down to our waitress. She was very nice but the service was lacking. It took awhile for her to check in for ordering our food and for receiving our check. In her defense, I think she had a large table she was managing with BUT she wore her stress on her sleeve. In terms of atmosphere, the dress code is supposed to be business casual or smart casual attire. This dress code was…not enforced with several people in shorts, t-shirts, and hats. Lastly the food: we got the wagyu filets with asparagus and fries. I’m not sure if this was our waitresses fault or whoever plated our dish but the steak was luke warm to room temperature. I love a good steak but for the price I was a bit disappointed. I’ll likely give this place another shot at some point, but as it stands right now likely wont be going back any time soon.

Where do I begin? We were completely ok with waiting 15 mins past our reservation time (it was Christmas). Upon being seated we immediately saw a couple sending their steaks back (which should have been a red flag). We decided to order the dumplings (the wagyu was beyond recognition, dry, and tasteless). Then we ordered the wedge salad. The dressing was goopy and extremely sweet. And there’s a difference between a wedge and a half of icebergs head of lettuce. We finally received our tomahawk steak (“medium”) which was inconsistently cooked. The flavor tasted burnt. It was terrible to see such an expensive large cut of steak treated so poorly. The “loaded” mashed potatoes looked like someone dropped them. The creamed spinach and the mushrooms were the only thing to save the incredibly bland and burnt cut of steak. Overall the experience left Morton’s feeling a poorly run sports bar. Other tables returned their food or got their food to-go because of the delayed service. It was disappointing to pay over $300 for such a terribly tasteless experience.

The service was great! Our starters arrived quickly and was delicious. We had oyster Rockefeller and crab cakes. For my entree I had the Christopher chicken and my sisters had lobster ravioli and steak. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant and the food.

Service was OUTSTANDING!! And the food and atmosphere exceeded my expectations! HIGHLY recommend this place!! First Class ALL THE WAY! A÷÷ No wait, but we made reservations beforehand

Google
The jumbo shrimp cocktail was outstanding and the 14oz ribeye and 22oz bone in Ribeye were delicious. Spicy margarita and Smokey old fashioned were also fantastic, along with a lovely Chilean Pinot Noir. Chris our server went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed & I got a candle in my desert and a photo for my birthday. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Google
We have tried Morton’s a few times and have been disappointed each time. Last night reminded us and solidified that we won’t be back. Food is below quality expected on all fronts. 8oz filet was decent though Wagyu filet was quite disappointing. Brussels sprouts were undercooked, gratin potatoes were alright though nothing special. Aqua panna seemed off, it was brought to table with lid already removed, so not sure. Desserts were not very good. While I understand restaurants have off nights, when spending $250+ on a meal for 2 people, quality and service should be great.

Google
Disappointed with this location. 5 star prices for 3 star treatment. First, it was about 15 minutes before we could get a drink order in while dining at the bar. The place was maybe 20 percent full, but they only had one bartender making drinks for the restaurant, who was not the greatest at mixology or customer service. Second, I asked if the bartender if the restaurant would make the shrimp Alexander appetizer even though it is no longer on the menu. Every other time I have asked for that appetizer at another location, they have made it for me despite not having it on the menu. The worst part is the bartender never asked the manager or the chef before immediately saying no. This is unacceptable for a restaurant that advertises 100% customer satisfaction. The food was fabulous as usual. The Wagyu filet is one of the best steaks anywhere. Sweet, intense flavor from the first bite to the last. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The price is reasonable for how exceptional the food usually is. The loaded baked potato is awesome and what an upscale steakhouse baked potato should be.

Yelp
From the very moment we walked through the doors at Morton's, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The greeter, Lucy, set the tone right away--warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. That kind of first impression is what makes fine dining feel truly special. Manager David made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout the evening, embodying exactly what you expect from a fine dining establishment: professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care for the guest experience not to mention food that is to die for. Our server, Chris, was absolutely on point--knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and always one step ahead of what we needed. From start to finish, the service was seamless and elevated the entire dining experience. When you go to Morton's, you expect fine dining and fine service and that's exactly what we received. A memorable night made even better by a team who clearly takes pride in what they do!

Yelp
We had Thanksgiving dinner and it was one of the best we've had. Every year we make a reservation at a restaurant because we are not big on turkey & etc. Our server was AMAZING.. her name escapes me! She was attentive, thoughtful, friendly, polite! Top notch service. The food was delicious..everything great! We also ordered dessert to go key-lime pie and hot chocolate lava cake with ice cream. We didn't get pictures of everything! It was all good!!!

Taylor B.

Yelp
Latasha service was excellent!! She was absolutely fabulous with a sense of humor to matched our group wonderfully!! David also came over to talk to us and he was amazing! He also had a sense of humor!! We will be coming back... great atmosphere and service! Food was delicious!!

Yelp
Food was AMAZING! My salmon was so good, fresh and cooked to perfection! Our server was very kind and accommodating! He gave us great drink recommendations! We all ordered a strawberry lemon drop and it was delicious! The ambiance was very romantic! Perfect for date night!

Yelp
Service and ambiance were nice but our desserts were disappointing. I cannot recommend the chocolate lava cake. All lava, no cake.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying this was a to go order so I know that can affect food and isn't necessarily the restaurants fault if things aren't the same as they would have been if I dined in. I also want to say that 3 stars doesn't mean this was a bad experience, it just means it was okay. My boyfriend and I ordered some food to go and we kept it pretty simple. I ordered their burger and fries, along with the bacon wrapped scallops, cream corn and Szechuan green beans. Everything was just okay. The burger was huge and looked a little fake. It wasn't very flavorful at all, just kind of tasted like meat. Even with the lettuce and other toppings. I ate most of it but towards the end I just didn't want it anymore. The fries were fine, the corn was good. The green beans were nothing to write home about to be Szechuan. There was really no flavor to them. The scallops were cold and the box has loads of juice in it, so they were kind of swimming. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience just not great. Like I said maybe next time we dine in and order different things.

Yelp
I actually loved everything here except the parking (haha) but I guess that's just downtown. The service was exceptional. The food was tasty. The restaurant decor and vibe was quiet and sophisticated. It was the perfect spot to go to for my mom's birthday! I had the lamb, my mom had some sort of steak dish and my dad had the salmon dish. We were all very happy with our meals. However, it's the service that's really memorable. Loved that several of the staff and managers checked on us frequently. Our water cup was barely empty. They gave my mom a complementary cake and sang a happy birthday song which was so sweet.

Yelp
Went to Mortons for my mother's birthday dinner. Kudos to the staff! They simply get it! When you visit fine dining establishments like this, expectations are high. The staff exceeded our expectations! Our server Jacobi did a superb job ensuring everything went perfect. My only suggestion would be to watch steak temperatures as my mom and I steaks were cooked past the requested temperature but overall still very good.

Yelp
Always delicious and wonderful. Jacobi is fantastic!! A must when in Uptown Charlotte.

Yelp
Amazing service, amazing food EVERYTIME! We love dining here! Shoutout to David the GM and Latasha our server. You guys took amazing care of us, we will be back! :)

Yelp
The food was great! I ordered an 8oz filet with Szechuan green beans, caesar salad, & a glass of Riesling. The filet was cooked to perfection! The waitress encouraged me to try some sort of Hennessy sauce, which I was extremely skeptical to try, but so glad I did! The crème brûlée was amazing also! I will definitely return.

Yelp
We had a party of approximately 20 people. I am a vegetarian and was happy to find there is a vegetarian menu when asked. Everyone enjoyed the service, atmosphere, and food. From entering the establishment to the last bite of desert, I have no complaints. I would recommend stopping by, reservations are recommended, and enjoy this establishment.

Yelp
I have read the reviews over the years and always wondered whether to give Morton's a chance to prove the critics wrong. Well, yesterday my family decided to take me to Morton's for Father's Day and almost immediately I could tell that the poor reviews were true. The restuarant was half empty and people did not seem to be enjoying themselves or the meals. There were no smiling faces and the vibe was blah. The decor is nice but the backgroud music selection is meh because there was no consistency with the genres. They played everything and it doesn't work. Our misadventure started when we were seated and given our water; the waiter didn't give us our menus and it took almost ten minutes before we received them. This was a huge red flag and I was ready to leave but my wife and daughter had planned everything out so I continued to stay. When our waiter did come back, I really couldn't understand what he was saying because his elocution and volume were lacking. We placed our orders, my daughter got the Christopher Chicken, my wife got the Lobster Ravioli and I went with the 12 ounce Filet Mignon. We received the food in a timely manner but the waiter forgot one of the sides. The food itself was bland, warm to the touch and presentation was mediocre and this was consistent with all three dishes. The waiter never came back to check on us during our entire dinner, we had to let him know that we were ready for the check. I was ready to leave and know that I would not be back again because the reviews on bad customer service and food quality are correct. I would not recommend Morton's Steakhouse to anyone that is looking for an upscale restuarant with high quality food and service. This was a huge disappointment mostly for my wife and daughter who wanted to bring me here.

Yelp
My husband and I are new to the area so I took a chance on an anniversary dinner. From the moment we stepped inside we knew we had made the right choice. The ambiance was lovely, the food was delicious and the amazing staff was everything we were hoping. Jason did a fantastic job and we will definitely be back before our next anniversary!

Yelp
This place was nice and the staff were excellent but the food was trash. I went there with a friend right after work. Parking wasn't bad at that time (5pm) and the place had just opened so wasn't crowded. Ok, let's begin.. I ordered a medium NY strip and potatoes au gratin. I kid you not, the steak wasn't medium or even medium rare. it was a strong rare steak and the middle of the steak was cold. It was terrible but it was still better than my boy's food. They didn't even bring his out, LOL. He ordered a Salmon well done. Of course his salmon was super duper raw. Made me feel a little better about my steak. Last but not least, how can you mess up an au gratin - put mayonnaise in it :(. Yup! I kid you not. I really don't understand how a Morton's can be this bad. It was truly the worst meal I've ever had since that time in 98 when I had a hot dog from Roy Rodgers on the New Jersey turnpike. Will I go back? I am NEVER EVER EVER going back to Morton's.

Yelp
We chose this location for a fine experience, celebrating a college graduation. It was simply passable. The waitress did a great job attending to us and explaining the menu. The dishes did not create the spark we were looking for. I ordered a medium rare cajun ribeye. It was medium well, just a piece of meat on a plate, no aesthetic pleasure for this $67 dish. The same level of execution was noticeable throughout other dishes, nothing to be excited about. No one walked away feeling impressed, all was just "ok." Maybe that's all we should have expected. Steakhouses that portray themselves as high-end need to create a better dining experience for the price they charge ($180 per person in this case). The ambiance is convivial.

Vernon M.

Yelp
My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we've never had a bad experience there. Food, service and atmosphere was great. Even had college football on the tv's. The bartenders made EXCELLENT drinks, our server Lucy was amazing and David the manager was very nice.

Yelp
Devante was my waiter for restaurant week. I always walk by when I take my cardio walks. I've never been inclined to go in as it seems like a regular steakhouse with no particular personality. I still feel that same way. When you walk in, it's pretty dark and the A/C isn't at a suitable temperature, at least for the day I dined. I dined alone, as I do frequently. My FAVORITE part was the lobster bisque. Oh. My. Gosh. So so good. Get this and dip your table French onion bread with this. I will be retuning for lunch very soon if that is available for the lunch hour. I got the filet mignon with green beans. The green beans seemed very under whelming. But the experience was just so grand for me. It's a prime location, I was seated in the second level, and the wine selection is VERY extensive. I wish I could provide some personal insight to the general manager here. This place can be doing much better against the competition down the street. But I essentially gave 4 stars because I would like to come back to see how the lunch hour is. Especially since it's being promoted on the outside corridor. Devante took very good care of me, my steak was cooked to perfection, and I love the old school jazz element. Although, I think there's some more that can be done to keep up with the modern expectation in the restaurant industry

Yelp
Food was great but the service was truly exceptional. Jason, our waiter, was fantastic and helped make this night out great.

Andrew G.

Yelp
Food was amazing - Yes it was out there but you pay for the great service. Would recommend the Pork Chop Butterflied

Michelle L.

Yelp
We had great service. Our server El was very attentive and provided in depth knowledge of the specials and different types of steak options. Troy also made our visit very welcoming. Our meal was delicious. We look forward to coming back to enjoy the good food and service.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Jason was out server and he was so kind and accommodating. My husband and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary. Jason ensured that our picture was taken. It was a beautiful picture. This is the 2nd time we celebrated our anniversary at Morton's. We look forward to doing it again next year.

Yelp
Dined at Morton's for an anniversary dinner, and everything was above and beyond... on the front end. Our table was ready, the menu read "happy anniversary", the staff greeted us by name, etc. I was really pleased to start out with the professionalism and atmosphere, especially around the holidays. Unfortunately, as the meal went on, the worse it got. It was minor at first, like the bread coming to the table after our drinks arrived and our apps were put in. But it felt as if our server was ignoring our table, or was way too busy to properly give each table the attention a white-tablecloth place like this deserves. It appeared multiple tables around us were also trying to get the servers attention. After a flag down, we finally got our food in. The food was half good and half bad. The wedge Cobb and French onion soup were both enjoyable. The filet I got, and my boyfriend's pork chop... were not. One was still mooing and the other was hard as a rock :( thankfully the staff fixed the steak but for the price of this menu, you wouldn't expect multiple issues to arise during the dinner. Timing of the food was inconsistent but communication was maintained by the manager for the items that were late, which I appreciated.

Dawn W.

Yelp
David & Jason were amazing! Every recommendation was a hit! I enjoyed the sea bass and my husband enjoyed the chicken and waygu meatballs. The intimate setting. They catered to our every need and provided exceptional service. Our 1st time here but won't be our last.

Yelp
Hey family! It's been a little while but I wanted to share my experience at Morton's this past Saturday night. I mentioned to a friend that it was restaurant week in Charlotte and I allowed them to pick a place. I've heard mixed reviews about Morton's where it seems that when it's good, it's really good and when it's bad, it's really bad. I did do a little research and I was cool with the restaurant week menu. I did peruse the main menu but it really wasn't anything that jumped out at me that I wanted to try. I've been to upscale steakhouses and I was curious to see how it compared to them. It's located in Uptown Charlotte and I would suggest to make things easier, definitely use the valet parking. It was only $11. And aside from going during the week as Uptown can get busy, I also suggest a reservation. Upon walking in I noticed that it was really warm in the inside. And I was thinking, maybe because we were by the door. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. The AC had went out earlier that day . I had to deduct a star because it was uncomfortably warm and I wish there was a sign on the door or an acknowledgment of the lack of AC upon arrival. Had I'd know, I would have went somewhere else but I made the most of it. We were promptly seated and given menus and water. One thing I absolutely loved was the fact that the service was friendly and efficient. Bless the staff for getting through the night because they were wearing all black. The inside is nice and it has kind of an old school feel but a little dated. Our reservation was at 8:15 and luckily by the time we were seated, some tables were clearing out and it made it a little tolerable. It's business casual but I saw a mix of different styles. Most people had business casual but I also saw people in regular t shirt and jeans. Don't feel too much pressure to dress up too much even though, it feels that you should. Our server was Anita and she was magnificent. My friend and I had looked up the menu prior, so we already knew what we wanted. The only thing not pictured was that I did get was a glass of rose' which was really good. They have a very extensive wine list but I was disappointed that it wasn't very many selections by the glass. They are catering to you to buy the bottle. I've been to many wineries and I know how much wine should cost. The overhead is really up there. It's ranging from $65-$150 or more. I'm not mad at it but I kind of am. But this place is used a lot for dates and celebrations so if you're in the mood to splurge, I understand. They do have a small selection of cocktails which from the description sound great. If I ever come again, I might just sit at the bar instead. Even though it's a steakhouse, to me the star of the show was the pork chop that came with apricot chutney. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. My friend ordered that along with the sour cream mashed potatoes. Definitely a perfect pairing. I ordered the center cut filet medium and was slightly disappointed. I thought that it was over cooked to well done but towards the middle and end there was a little pink. It was still tender but I think was truly saved it was the add on of truffle butter. The creamed spinach was just ok, it could use a little more seasoning. But the desserts were a hit for me. I had the key lime pie and it was truly key lime pie. I hadn't had one that tasted so good since Ganache (if you live in Greensboro, you remember that place). I tried my friend's crème brûlée and was also taken aback. I've had many versions of this dessert and by far this was one of the best. And the salad was just a salad and nothing to write home about. It was good but I like my salads to be served on a cold plate and I'm not sure if they serve them that way but it would have been nice. Would I come back? Maybe. And it's not because of the AC issue. It was a cool place and definitely feels catered to an older adult crowd which is nice but something feels dated. I would definitely like to sit at the bar and see how I would feel versus the main dining area. I would be interested to try the cocktails and order the pork chop. The steak was just average. Just to be fair, I might give it one more try.

Yelp
Three words: Disappointing...very disappointing. It started out wonderfully on Christmas Eve. We were seated promptly, the room was full of diners enjoying themselves and our server (Lauren) was top-notch and attentive. But there was a problem with the dinner itself. My wife's filet Oscar was closer to the Rare end of the scale as opposed to the Medium that she ordered. ( A world-class steakhouse should really be able to get this right. It's their business). Upon mentioning this to our server, a captain immediately arrived and offered to re-work the offending dinner. My wife wisely declined, as we've seen this act before; nothing turns out well. The re-cooked meal is never as it should be, and I sit there with my meal...doing what? And another thing: the Oscar treatment on my wife's filet was cold, and my NY strip was nowhere near the quality that I have enjoyed in Morton's past. So we learned a lesson, and we won't be returning. Like us, I'm sure that you will find a better experience elsewhere.

Yelp
Our server, Hailey, was awesome. My crab cake was burnt on the bottom, but it was delicious inside. Very good cocktails.

Yelp
Exceptional service, accessibility, and cuisine! Morton's Steak House went above and beyond from the moment we arrived. The manager ensured easy table access for my handicap needs. Our knowledgeable and attentive waitress, Brook, gave excellent recommendations. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all divine. General Manager Eric's leadership shines in every aspect. A must-visit for an unforgettable steakhouse experience!

Yelp
Ok I really don't like to write less than stellar reviews but here goes. We were excited to go to Morton's in Charlotte for Mother's Day dinner, will not be going back to this Morton's again. Took 15 mins to get a menu, another 15 to get a cocktail and water. We finally were able to order , we went ahead and ordered everything at once since we seemed to be having trouble keeping our server around . We ordered starters, salads, Tomahawk steak, some other steak our son ordered and sides. We ask that not everything come at once we were assured it would not. Salads came , then eventually the starters , Bacon steak which was absolutely terrible, either saturated in liquid smoke or not sure what, shrimp appetizer was good. Then came the sides and our steaks. The tomahawk was ordered medium , came absolutely raw. The other steak was subpar as well. Finally the server came back and wanted to know if we wanted a To go box, we showed her the steak and asked if this was medium ? She said no that's rare! She said she was going to show her manager, she came back with a dessert menu that he wanted to buy us a dessert? We said no thank you just the check please. I can't fault the server for the steak or the bacon steak but the meal and the $100 tip we left was almost $600 for 3 people and we left very dissatisfied. Now for the dress code well that's another story , come as you are because anything goes. I would have to say the manager not coming to our table to offer an apology on $130 steak being raw , speaks volumes on management. We frequent Morton's in Jacksonville Florida and I would say you all need some training and possibly a new chef.

Yelp
We went for Queen's Feast 2024 and the food and service was great. Our server Chris was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!

Rob W.

Yelp
absolutely the most overpriced meal I've ever had in my 58 years on this planet. $402.00 for two people! We each had a drink, a steak, salad and a baked potato. Ruth's Chris has better tasting steak for half the price. Do yourself a favor and walk down the street to Jimmy V's or Ruth Chris. You'll be happy you did. This place is a joke. The pig gets fat, the hog gets slaughtered.

Yelp
We made a reservation two nights before. On the day of, someone called to confirm our late 8:15 reservation and was kind enough to remind us that last call is around 8:30 ish due to COVID. I was sooooo happy he told me that. I totally forgot and asked if we could come earlier so we could have a couple of drinks with our dinner. He said of course and we showed up at around 7:20pm for our 7:30 reservation. Since we arrived 10 minutes early and requested a booth, our booth wasn't ready. The manager walked us over to the bar where we hung out. Our table was literally ready 10 minutes later. He then walked us to our table. I felt like a celebrity! We were served this delicious bread and given water. Our waiter then took our drink order. We looked over the menu and then he discussed the one special for the night.... 2 4oz steaks, one topped with lobster and the other topped with crab (I think) with two asparagus and a side along with a salad, soup, or selected appetizer. One person could get all of this for I think $53. That's a steal! So that's what we got along with their cheese cake that had a crem brûlée top! Oh that cake was amazing!!!!!!!! I am so glad we came here. Customer service was a 10 and so was the food!!!!

Jasmine P.

Yelp
Willow was our server, JoHann (not sure if that's right) was the manager. Customer service was top tier; food was delicious!! Thank you to all staff for a great bday dinner!! Kitchen-service 10/10 recommendation!!

Yelp
Went to Morton's for dinner one Friday night for my birthday. The location is perfectly a 9 min walk/ 2 min drive from my house. It was the best service I've received from a restaurant, the hostess even took a picture of my boyfriend and I at the table and printed it for us ! The starter bread & butter were great. I ordered the Wagyu and lobster Mac, and my boyfriend ordered the Cajun Ribeye. My review misses a star only because I was expecting the Wagyu to taste much better, but instead it was pretty basic; tender as I requested for it to be cooked medium, but basic. The lobster Mac could've had a little more flavor also but it was good. Dessert was on the house since it was my birthday, I ordered their chocolate mousse. It was phenomenal. They even added a candle for me :) The ambiance was perfect- candle lit, romantic, and on the quieter side!

Yelp
If you have an opportunity you need to stop by the bar and speak to Spencer. This is the most amazing experience. I've had in a long time. I wish we had a Morton's back at home. Service. Is it 10. Food. Is it 10.

Yelp
Dinner was awesome! I celebrated a friend's birthday. They accommodated us by allowing 2 tables next to each other. I love that they didn't make us reserve a "private dining" area. The custom dinner menu was cute! Now let's get to the food.......Loved the Cajun Ribeye. It wasn't spicy, but fulllll of flavor! They did an great job with seasoning the steak. You can literally eat it without any sauce or butter. The sides were good. Nothing special but I would get them again. Enjoyed the lemon drop as well. Our server, Spencer was very nice and professional. The only reason I would not give them 5 stars is because of the "B" rating I saw at the door. It was alarming to see, but Hopefully they will get that back to an "A".

Yelp
Felt very safe dining here during COVID. Masks are required upon entering. All staff wear masks and when our server served our food she wore gloves as well. Available tables are appropriately distanced. We sat upstairs and had the entire upstairs to ourselves. Lauren was our server and she was phenomenal! So friendly, professional and attentive. We can attribute enjoying our meal to her as well as the meal itself. We went to dinner with a couple who was also celebrating their wedding anniversary. She offered to take our pictures. Everything is al carte and big enough to share. The bone in ribeye was HUGE and so well seasoned, juicy and flavorful. We also enjoyed the sea bass, and lobster tail. I probably wouldn't get the sea bass again but it was good. The sauce was delicious. We really loved the lobster Mac and cheese, corn, and AU gratin potatoes. Didn't care for the Brussels sprouts, they were hard. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and creme brûlée. My friend said the creme brûlée was AMAZING! First time dining out during COVID. Good pick. We got a room at the Marriott to continue our celebration. It was very nice to just walk across the street. Great location if you're staying there.

Yelp
Very much pleased with my visit to Morton's during restaurant week! In the past, I have visited places during restaurant week and have been left with subpar menu, subpar taste, and not so great service. Morton's did what needed to be done! Reservation meant reservation. Meaning you are seated right away. If at the booths as we were, table is rolled out for you to easily get to your seat and pushed back. BINGO! The limited menu for restaurant week had all that I needed on it and my server was able to recommend drinks and answer questions. He was polite and prompt. I can't remember the exact name of the cocktail, but it was something pineapple. Loved it. For my starter, I ordered the cup of lobster bisque. I know "etiquete" says to not eat your soup all the way... screw that. I downed it (politely). Oh but before that, the bread. The bread warmed our souls. Bread was so plush and soft. The poppy seeds were a little messy and all over the white cloth, but hey didn't bother me. My entree was the horseradish crusted salmon which I paired with garlic green beans. I mean chefs kiss ok. I had to scrape off some of the horseradish because well, it was definitely encrusted; but not their fault, I just don't eat a lot of horseradish. I moved it over and went to town. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Moist and crusted in all the right places. Green beans slapped. No complaints. Last thing was the key lime pie. I died and went to Heaven. I left nothing to the imagination here. I ate it all. I knew what I was going there for... to eat! And I did. Everything was great. I loved the atmosphere. So peaceful and romantic. I love having to dress nicely. Just makes the place even more elegant. we were sat near the open kitchen area and got to stare at all the steaks that came up. Mouth watering. You do see a cheesecake pictured nowhere it wasn't eaten as it was by mistake. Overall 10/10 surely recommend and you NEED reservations no matter what. Get dressed up and go be one with the food!

Yelp
Dined at Morton's for the first time to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday dinner and throughly enjoyed. The NY strip and lobster ravioli were delicious. The lobster Mac & cheese was subpar (thought it could use more cheese/flavor personally). Our waiter William was amazing & attentive! & we received a complimentary birthday dessert. All in all, we would definitely dine again. 9/10.

Yelp
I used to eat here three times a week when I lived in uptown. I've been there several times the past few years and have watched the steady decline. The service has become generic, nothing special and disappointing. The food that used to be worth paying for has become mediocre. Each time I go now it has seemed more and more like a ghost town. They've got the music turned up, trying to make up for the lack of clientele in an efforts to cover up the void left from it being 80% empty, if that. It's super strange they can even stay open with uptown location and no patrons. Save your money and skip it.

Yelp
I really like this place for their proteins and cocktails. The sides are not that great. They are bland. I also ordered the lobster Mac. Again they do great with proteins so the lobster was great but again the Mac could have used more flavor. Personal recommendation don't order the mashed potatoes or Brussels sprouts. They taste like frozen steamables. I just took a star off for this. Outside of the sides. The service, ambiance, proteins and drinks were amazing.

Yelp
**Spoiler alert: There's nothing negative about this experience. Tonight was a special occasion and I wanted an equally special place to spend it. Morton's tried hard to make my anniversary celebration memorable. I went through Opentable.com to make reservations. They ask on the reservation form if your meal is celebrating any special event. During the week, they offer validated parking in the parking deck. On weekends they provide valet parking. Parking was not an issue on out weeknight visit. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warmth and kindness. The host Made a big to-do over our night. He took us to our table and introduced us to our server. They brought us the drink menus and told us that it would be a minute before our food menus would arrive. Minutes later the host delivered us two menus with our names printed on them and a congratulatory message to boot! It was a very nice touch. We both ordered a filet mignon. We shared a chopped house salad and a side of creamed spinach. I'll discuss the dessert in the next paragraph. I also ordered a steak upgrade of bleu cheese butter. The steaks were very tender and cooked to perfection. My bleu cheese enhancer was divine. The salad came with a mustard based dressing that was really good. The creamed spinach was good. The portion size of the salads and sides are large enough to split with another person! When we were ordering I mentioned that we were defiantly going to order dessert. Our server told us that the restaurant was giving us a complimentary dessert! We shared a hot chocolate cake that was heavenly. Our server also brought us a small loaf of complimentary bread and a butter before our salads were delivered. The bread was "comfort food" that was hot from the oven. Everything about our night was special. I feel like I chose the perfect place for a special night!

Yelp
It's been just over 1 year since we've been to Morton's. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday. My husband and I got the ribeye ($51) and it was very good. The steaks were cooked perfectly. However, the person celebrating the birthday ordered his steak medium well and it was very pink, so not sure what happened. My husband got a glass of pinot noir ($19). We got the au gratin potatoes ($12) and they were shareable and excellent. We all shared a sample of each side so I can say the corn was also very good, so was the lobster mac and cheese ($24). The asparagus were huge and a bit spicy believe it or not, very interesting. We got the cheesecake ($12) with berries which was good. One person got the lava cake with ice cream and enjoyed it. Another got the chocolate mousse. Our waiter was nice, but I wish he and the other hosts/servers would not wear a mask. It is more impersonal and our waiter was difficult to hear or understand. At the end of the evening, a hostess came by and took our group photo and somehow was able to print a photo to give right away to the birthday guy. That was a nice touch I had not seen before. There seemed to be several birthday parties there. The atmosphere is very nice. White linen tablecloths and dim lighting. In the past, the server would scrape off the breadcrumbs, but this server didn't do that. Perhaps because we had a group of 7 ? But I think it would have been more appealing and upscale if they did this. They validate parking in the garage attached to the building, so be sure to request the hostess to do this for you. This place is always a solid choice for a good meal.

Yelp
We went here very late at night (7:30pm) and were greeted. We took a seat in the bar area, expecting that our kids wouldn't be able to join us. However, we were able to get a high top table. We got our water promptly and were asked if we wanted bread, to which we replied in the affirmative. Then we ordered our drinks and food. The service was very quick and we received our food in only 20 minutes. The mood was set by the hanging lights and soft music in the background. The TVs were playing a golf game, which I became immersed in. I would 100% recommend this place if you're looking for a fancy, lowkey restaurant to spend a portion of your evening and tuck into some food.

Yelp
We had a party of 9 stop in for Dinner on Friday. The service was outstanding. The food was delicious, both appetizers and entrées. The restaurant's interior is modern and very comfortable!!

Yelp
The food was good even thought the oysters Rockefeller were served cold. The manager brought us another order that was hot and did not charge for the oysters. The steak was really tender but not real flavorful. We had a baked potato that was really good and onion rings that were also really good. Service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and was very professional. The ambience was really nice. The wine selection was also outstanding.
