The Best Cocktails to Try in Miami and Fort Lauderdale | Eater

"When it’s time to partake in the modern American tradition of steak, head over to Morton’s Steakhouse in Coral Gables and order the manliest steak on the menu, the 42 oz Prime Porterhouse, more than two pounds of all-American beef. You’ll need an equally classic beverage to match that mountain of meat, so order a HAVANA CLUB mojito, with muddled mint, sparkling water, lime and HAVANA CLUB Rum." - Vox Creative

I booked the wrong location but they made room and seated a party of 4 with no problem. Our server took our order and never checked on us again. It got to the point that we were asking the manger to give us our bill … not great. Food: Steak was literally amazing and melting in your mouth. Lobster ravioli was a 10/10 but the sour cream mashed potatoes were literally so bland and dry. The wagyu meatball was a bit disappointing but 7/10. Triple cheeseburger 9/10. Would definitely come back to this location.

I know its a steakhouse so can’t comment on most of the food and or expect food for vegans or vegetarians I do have to say that there was a large assortment of sides and salads to chose from which were delicious. They were also very good at making food adaptations for you. Very nice and attentive bartenders with great drink selection and nice staff in general. Very cozy dining area well suited for a romantic date night. Bar area was better lit and very busy.

Absolutely love this steakhouse! Our server, MJ, really did make our experience so much better. He had the best recommendations and was very patient with us. We felt like the only customers. We came for our anniversary and he made it very special. Thank you!!!! The food was SO GOOD! 10/10

Google
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Everything was exceptional from the moment we arrived. The service was outstanding and the food exquisite. We were celebrating a birthday and they went out of their way to make our evening memorable. Once seated, they already had personalized printed birthday menus, took our photos and delivered them in personalized paper frames, and treated us to a delicious complimentary lava cake. I highly recommend Morton’s if you want a fantastic dining experience with incredible food and service.

UNFORTUNATELY! I had to change my review.. I’m a regular and love the staff and the food. Unfortunately the SMASHED Burger which has been on the menu for a couple of months is not Smashed anymore and DEFINITELY not WAGYU . I called the restaurant and they confirmed the Party changed.. AGAIN!!! Do Not order this regular frozen tasteless burger! Plenty of other things on the menu that are still good.

My first visit to Morton’s was this Thanksgiving. I sat outside but the ambiance inside is dimly lit. The server talked up one of their drink specials that day but it just turned out to be an overpriced mimosa IMO. Complimentary bread is always a plus. Tried my first crab cake which I enjoyed. The Christopher chicken was crispy, the sauce was a nice touch. The Cajun ribeye was delicious, a little hard to cut through. They didn’t skip out on the side of truffle butter. The scalloped potatoes were plentiful but the truffled corn was not. I’m not sure why the discrepancy in the size of the sides. Chocolate soufflé was good but not nothing I would rave about

Went to Morton’s for a surprise anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint! AMAZING service from our server Dino. I loved all the little things they did to make the dinner special like personalized menus and a beautifully decorated table. They completed exceeded my expectation for tonight’s dinner and I could not be more happy and I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you guys for such an amazing memorable evening!

Google
I had a fantastic dining experience at Morton’s Steakhouse. The ambiance was upscale and inviting, setting the perfect stage for a memorable meal. The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and exactly as ordered. The sides were equally impressive, with each dish complementing the main course beautifully. A special shoutout to our server, Rodney, who truly elevated the experience. His attentive service, knowledgeable recommendations, and genuine friendliness made our evening exceptional. Rodney's professionalism and enthusiasm were evident throughout the meal, and his attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Overall, Morton’s Steakhouse is a top-notch dining destination, and Rodney is a standout asset to their team. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Morton's the steakhouse is my go to place when I want to have exceptional service and amazing food. I often bring my girlfriend here and she absolutely loves it. The restaurant always has a nice ambiance. The lights are dim and set a beautiful scene for a date. If you're coming and want to know what to get.. the Mac and cheese is amazing, the bone in ribeye, and the truffle fries are unmatched. Very happy with experience. The staff is always so welcoming.

Yelp
5 star reviews don't come easily from me, and it takes a lot to truly "wow" me, but Morton's did just that recently. We decided to visit this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Morton's website directed us to make our reservation via OpenTable and where it has the dropdown, asking if a special occasion is being celebrated, I selected "anniversary" and really gave it no more thought. We've made reservations at other restaurants in the past where we booked via OpenTable and selected that we were celebrating a birthday or anniversary, and not once has any restaurant even acknowledged it. That certainly wasn't the case here at Morton's! Upon our arrival, the hostess wished us a Happy Anniversary, and asked if we wanted a table on the patio, or a table or booth inside. Once we asked for a booth she explained it'd be a few minutes, so we went to the well-appointed bar and ordered a cocktail. When she came to escort us to our table, we found that they'd placed our menus and bread plates so we'd be seated next to each other at the back of the booth, they'd scattered silver stars on the table for our anniversary, when we opened our menus they had an anniversary greeting tucked in there for us, and they explained we'd be given a complimentary dessert of our choice at the end of the meal, and they'd also take a photo of us to commemorate the occasion. Wow! First, again, as many times as we've gone to restaurants to celebrate anniversaries and other special occasions, we've never received this type of treatment, especially when, again, I just mentioned it using the standard dropdown menu when making the reservation. Also, living in Miami, one often finds that customer service and care are often lacking, even at better restaurants like Morton's, so when they really went all out like they did, it really meant a lot to us. Aside from that, the food was excellent as always. We started with the tuna poke, then for our main courses we both had steaks, which were excellent, and the lobster macaroni and cheese and asparagus. We also ordered a bottle of wine to share, and when the complimentary dessert was offered, we each ordered a glass of champagne to finish our meals. Everything was excellent, steaks were cooked perfectly and the cuts were so large and the serving of mac and cheese so generous we ended up bringing some home. Kudos to Morton's for going above and beyond anything we've ever experienced to honor our special occasion. It really made a strong impression, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more generous that night. Again...Thank you!

Yelp
Good steak house in Coral Gables. In my opinion better than its surrounding competitors. The restaurant is fairly large with indoor and out doors seating. We've always had great servers. Although it's a steak house, one of my favorites dishes is the grilled salmon.

Yelp
The Salt Mine where I toil 40hrs a week had a Directors Luncheon here in lieu of cash. I arrived early (as I always do) but they were not ready to receive us, so I went for a stroll with my camera. When I returned we were shown to our dining room upstairs and the festivities began. The room was cozy and the table decorated for the holidays. We had a set menu of offerings Lobster Bisque, Caesar Salad, Chicken, Salmon and a 6oz Filet Mignon (not my favorite cut but what ya gonna do) with Potatoes AuGratin and Mashed Potatoes as side. Yes, no vegetables because the COO does not like them, I ordered a glass of a House Red Wine; it's a blend from either Argentina or Spain our waiter couldn't remember exactly. The Petite Fillet.was good, especially with the addition of the Sauce requested. The wait staff was great and they took good care of us. Cheese Cake and Chocolate Espresso Pot Au Créame were the desserts. The wine and the Espresso Créame were the best parts of the meal. Didn't think I would be in Morton's again unless I was in an Urn in the center of the table. But a good time was had by all even if I wasn't the guest of honor.

Yelp
Was invited by Zoetis for a Veterinary event at this restaurant and it was a very pleasant experience. Thursday nights are popping here, when we arrived it was around 7pm and the bar was full! We decided to get a whiskey & a margarita to start. The bartender was very friendly & attentive. We were sat in one of their private rooms for this conference and service was spectacular! Our wine glasses always stayed filled, plates were removed as we were finished and it was overall a great experience, I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Have you ever seen the restaurant scene from Mrs. Doubtfire? The ambience of this place reminds me exactly of that! We came here for the Miami spice dinner. I got the French onion soup and it was very good! Smaller than expected, and sweeter, but it was a nice change from the usual over-salted ones I'm used to. The porkchop was huge I couldn't finish it. The sauce it came with accompanied by the mashed potatoes was delicious. I wasn't blown away by the food but it was good. The espresso crème pot was OK the chocolate cake was much better. Our server Michelle was great and helped correct any errors that were made.

Yelp
One of our all-time favorites for lunch, dinner, and bar bites, this place is delicious, and the service is impeccable. We ordered the lunch special, which included French onion soup and a 6 oz. filet with green beans. We also got the shrimp cocktail, which is my favorite, along with the lobster mac and cheese and corn. Everything was exceptional. We enjoyed an Old Fashioned and an Aperol Spritz, both of which were fabulous. To top off our amazing lunch, Morton treated us to a delicious dessert for our anniversary: the banana bread pudding! Don't miss out on that treat! Overall, everything was phenomenal.

Yelp
Overall: Completely disappointed Service: My husband was completely shocked at the lack of service and awareness by the staff. The waiter couldn't find our champagne we ordered and had to get the sommelier involved. We didn't order anything obscure either. Since they were out of our first two choices, we ended eventually ended up with Bollinger. Ambiance: The restaurant looks great but the kitchen seemed to be a bit of a mess. If you are going to have an open kitchen concept then show me the "magic" your kitchen creates. We definitely didn't feel like that. Considering this is supposed to be one of the finer restaurants, I was completely disappointed. Food: We ordered a filet mignon (spilt but that never happened) and 2 lobster tails. Instead of splitting the steak...we each had our own. The steak was flavorful BUT came out undercooked a bit and cool (much too cool for medium rare). The lobster was appropriately cooked but not great. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse but it was just okay as well. Overall value: Just no. There was not much value here. I prefer Ruth's Chris or Mastro's any day over this.

Yelp
I love to seat by the Bar, the service is impeccable the bartenders and waiters are super friendly! The food is delicious and the ambiance is great!

Yelp
I'm not sure if it was because it was a Monday or because it was a holiday weekend, but there were two waiters three people in the kitchen and one bartender for the whole restaurant meaning that the service was very slow and we were sort of waiting more than 20 minutes just for the bill. Our waitress was nice, but she described an apple upside down cake as the best thing ever selling it to us and then had to come back and tell us that they had run out . I did not enjoy the lobster bisque or the onion soup. The mashed potatoes were bland but the steak was good.

Yelp
They are great everything about them his first class now we had an issue in the past they corrected it and they are the best steakhouse in that area

Yelp
A staple. A place that never disappoints. Not only food is consistently amazing but ambience and service is top notch. You can come to this restaurant and sit at the same exact table and it feels like a continuation of the first time you went there. The atmosphere is very new york and also very 80s but not in a bad way. You know you are sitting at quality and you feel like that too. I tried the lobster raviolis this time and had my dirty martini as always. A father's day gift to my other half.

Badass M.

Yelp
Looking a bit rundown, the Service was great, however the kitchen workers, were talking loud and acting very unprofessional more like a cafeteria ambiance, the food was ok, the Wagou smash burger was garbage tasted like burnt oil, and preformed patties from the supermarket. The drinks were good and strong. The waiters very Profesional. What a pitty this place shit the bed.

Yelp
I have come here many times specifically for happy hour. I mean I am happy w the dining room beautiful. But the bar has a good menu and also busy and happening. Great decor w Frank on the wall and good service. The food of course beef file mignon sliders they are super so good. The crab cake good quality. Of course good drinks and great music. One of my favorite bars still strong.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance and a place to have either an intimate or business dinner in a very inviting atmosphere, the steaks and appetizers are very good and the service is superb.

Yelp
We dined at Morton's last October. We have always had a great dining experience there or the one up north. We love the super white tablecloths and the charming ambiance. We ordered Filet Mignon and a Ribeye, which were cooked to perfection. As a side dish, we chose to share a Lobster Mac n Cheese, which was delicious with plenty of lobster in it. We both chose Merlot for our wine. Delicious, all of it! For dessert, we had Creme Brulee, which was so good. Our server was Jennifer, who was so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Parking is available on the street or a nearby garage. Reservations are encouraged. They do have a dress code. We had a very nice time and will be back again soon.

Yelp
This is an old faithful venue in the gables. Sometimes is good, sometimes not so good, thanks god this one, everything was almost perfect. The place kept that old fashion flavor of ny restaurants, dark wood everywhere, nice cutlery and glasses. Everything we order was really delicious, the steaks were really tender, juicy and well cooked, something that I really thank, because in previous occasion the quality of the steaks was very poor. The only issue was the service, our waitress started excellent and then he was so distracted, that we need to remain him about some cocktails we ordered.
google avatar

Jana H.

Yelp
Fell right off the scale. We used to love Morton and they just absolutely suck now. The wait staff is fine but ... the kitchen is a mess. We should expect a steakhouse to get the steak right but alas ... we ordered medium rare and got over cooked and then sent it back only to receive what is in the photo. Just don't bother to go
google avatar

Yelp
Went again love the bar . Good bites and awesome Mortons full menu. Happening scene always and vibrant. So good well done drink s and also good music they have Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett playing in the background love it! Love the filet mignon sandwiches so yumm. Also love the crab cake sandwiches so perfect delicious. Good truffle fries! Again my favorite happy hour or meal area.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Beautiful, classy ambiance, but let me tell you about the service: AMAZING! JENNIFER.. you are the best. You have a beautiful demeanor and your detail to customer service and attention to your restaurant patrons is absolutely PHENOMENAL. BECAUSE of you, we will definitely make this amazing restaurant one of our go to spots. The filet mignon melted in your mouth. I had it with fluffy mashed potatoes. The desserts were so yummy. We will definitely frequent this establishment!

Yelp
Going to Morton's you know that you will have consistency when it come to the flavor of food. The ambience was lovely and the staff was very attentive to any needs. I always recommend Morton's as a safe choice for some delicious steak. The lobster ravioli was very good too but it wasn't the best so o do t think I'll be ordering this at Morton's again.

Priscila G.

Yelp
Food is ok and service is ok as well, but not the best. Overall, an average experience with premium prices.

Yelp
I come here with friends for happy hour from time to time and we always really enjoy it! The Coral Gables Morton's is located in the best spot right on the corner of Ponce De Leon and Coral Way, so if you're sitting outside or close to the window in the bar area, it's always great people watching. I love their happy hour bar bites as well, my favorites are the sliders and truffle fries, and they don't skimp on the portions for happy hour drinks. I came here a couple of days ago and had the lobster truffle ravioli appetizer (as a meal) and it was delicious! I always get the molten chocolate cake--but make sure to order with plenty of time because it takes 15-20 minutes to prepare. Service in the restaurant and the bar area has always been excellent, but I especially enjoy the waiters/bartenders in the bar area because they always treat us like friends. I'll continue to come back here every few months!
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible steak and food all around! The service was amazing -- shout out to Ralph for his great service! It was very nice and clean inside and outside. Great restaurant in downtown coral gables!

Yelp
Morton's saves the day! Stellar service from a stellar team that knows just had to accommodate and treat their patrons. They quickly accommodated a group of six ladies after we were told we could not be accommodated at Hillstone, because we were too big a party forget the fact that we were already seated at a booth had eaten or appetizers and been serve drinks and now you're telling us you can't accommodate us. No worries Morton's to the rescue! Octavio was our server and Belkys helped him with the beverages. Took a bit long checking on our table at times, but was friendly and got everything right. We chose to sit outdoors because inside was a little stuffy. Ordered: Tuna poke - winner. Great presentation and flavor Asparagus One power lunch that included a lobster bisque and I don't remember what else One burger and fries loved the skinny crispy fries !!!! Another power lunch that included a wedge salad and salmon. Salmon was excellent Brussel sprouts did not disappoint Grilled oysters - brought 4 oysters - delish - very buttery seemed to be topped with some type of breadcrumb Overall good lunch.

Yelp
This place is 1st class! Their steaks are the things dreams are made of, literally dreamt of their Cajun ribeye the other night. The Mac and cheese is probably the top 5 in miami. But really what stands out here is the service, they are on their game at this place. The host and the waiter were just the best in every way imaginable. The ambiance is very slick, it feels like you're in an old school yet modernized steak house. This place is on point and I give it 5 stars.

Yelp
First time coming to Morton's house! Can I just say I absolutely loved everything that was on the menu. The steak was so soft and smooth 10/10. The service was magnificent!! The shrimp was so big and loved the sides that same with it. Loved the mash potatoes I had a little bit of everything! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Came to Morton's for a work event. The service was 10/10. This is located in Miracle Mile. The server (didn't get his name) was very personable. He made amazing recommendations. He recommended the chopped salad which is similar to a Cobb salad. Such a delicious salad. Very filling too. Also tried their steak, medium rare, and it was so juicy, easy to cut. The shrimp tasted fresh. For dessert I tried their lava cake and crème brûlée. Overall, great food, amazing service, nice location in the gables.

Yelp
Wow... when I saw the three stars on reviews at Morton's The Steakhouse in Coral Gables, almost didn't call for reservation, but heck it's Friday happy hour on Labor Day weekend and I'm not gonna hit a little sandwich shop that has a Yelp 4.5 stars review. Yes, this place is a franchise, but it's a premium steak house too and having been to many of their locations in many cities across the country made the call and glad we did. We arrived early to our reservation and was immediately greeted by the friendly hottest that would get our table ready, so we decided to sit at bar for a quick drink and had an amazing dirty martini and minutes later seated at a booth. As in all Morton's restaurant is very clean, well maintained and staff is well trained to make customer feel that your their for a premium experience. Our waiter was very friendly and profesional (wish I could remember his name to give him a shout our) and informed they were currently participating in Miami Spice for next 30 days and have us a menu that meal would be $60.00 per person and what a deal it was for this type of restaurant. One thing I love of Morton's is their extensive high quality wine collection and today they were out of wine we requested, so he offered a Pinot Noir "breadbasket" that was on special and truly amazing with our meal. I ordered the meat ball appetizer which was very delicious and the 12 oz. ribeye steak medium rare and with garlic potatoes and it was cooked to perfection and enjoyed it very much. We wrapped up the evening with the Morton's specialty chocolate molten cake that was worth the wait. Overall we're very pleased with service and the quality food that this establishment offers and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a 5 star premium dinning experience in Coral Gables.

Yelp
Early New years eve .. it was excellent .. had their special surf and turf . Filet / lobster tail , salad ,side and desert for $79.00 / each Can't beat it !

Yelp
Morton's has become our favorite steak house. The food is consistently very good. Staff is excellent. The menu has options that make sense. see you there.

Yelp
delicious filet mignon. mortons miami spice menu is the best i've seen for a steakhouse! defined worth it. the filet mignon, mashed potatoes, potato cheese & bacon casserole and the dessert were all so good!

Yelp
Five stars for the perfect dirty martini. While I have never eaten a proper dinner at Morton's I am most definitely a big fan of their bar. It's cozy, the drinks are strong and the service is friendly. Sadly right now they aren't doing happy hour but tbh any hour is made happier with an icy Dirty martini in hand. Whether you select gin or vodka, it's always going to hit the spot from here. I went on Sunday with some friends and Anthony our bartender was awesome. When it comes to bar bites, I know I always dream of the huge loaf of bread that they offer. The petit filet minion sandwiches and sliders never disappoint either. Of course - you can definitely dine and treat yourself to a steakhouse dinner, but just know a visit to the bar is just as delish!

Yelp
Thank you Morton's for a wonderful 60th birthday & Father's Day celebration for my husband! The food was excellent as always! The filet mignon melts in your mouth and always cooked to perfection. The service was just wonderful, we didn't want for anything! We sat right in front of the kitchen which was a nice treat to see them working together as a team! Love this place and the staff

Yelp
I love Morton's. Love it. Been to a thousand locations. IT'S AN ICEBOX IN HERE. TURN DOWN THE AC. Honestly ruined the whole evening and I'm not even temperature sensitive. Who's running this place? The fishmonger?

Yelp
Bad service, hostess away from stand for 20 minutes waiting, noisy employees throwing dishes and it's just annoying and lack of education.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been to Morton's many times and they never disappoint. My steak is always cool to perfect! This is definitely my go to date night to celebration spot! They also have delicious crème brûlée for dessert, which is my favorite!

Yelp
Excellent happy hour. Loved the food. Cocktails were excellent as well as the service. We recommend.

Yelp
The steak was great but nothing spectacular. I will say I did not splurge and kept towards the lower side of the menu. The staff was friendly and professional and the atmosphere was expected while at a steakhouse. There is no optimal area for parking so be warned to pay high price for parking near by.

Leonora A.

Yelp
Went for Happy Hour with some friends to Morton's bar on Ponce in the Gables. Our server, Jennifer, was very accommodating, above & beyond, actually. She moved us to another table when the first one was too high (the kind with stool seats) and modified a drink order that was too spicy without any attitude. The 3 Prime cheeseburgers were fabulous! One of us had the Ahi Tuna, which she loved and I had the miniature crab cakes that were absolutely delicious!. Moreover, the atmosphere in the bar is very nice, very upscale bar feel to it with a great mix of people! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Pat G.

Yelp
Best part about our dinner was the service. Our server (I think his name was Brandon) was attentive, patient and very knowledgeable. The food was good. As in appetizer I had the Lobster bisque and it was excellent. Main course had the filet mignon with creamed spinach and mash potatoes as sides. Sides were very good, but unfortunately my steak was a little over cooked. The hot chocolate cake has got to be one of the best desserts on the planet. Overall, I had a great experience despite my steak being just ok.
google avatar

Hector R.

Yelp
Not such a good experience here. The service was subpar, waited a while to be greeted and for water. That was the first strike, waited another 15 minutes for my drink which is unacceptable! Second strike! The food was not good for the most part, I ordered the porterhouse, the meat was burnt basically as you can see in the picture, tasted like tough meat with ZERO taste! The lobster bisque was a bit on the watery but it was eatable. The corn was cold. The dessert ( soufflé ) was decent but nothing special. The server did recommend a pretty good wine which was probably the highlight of the meal along side the complementary bread in the beginning! Waiter didn't care to apologize either, seemed like he was busy with other tables etc.

Ralph L.

Yelp
Consistently great food. Great, attentive service. Their New York strip is hard to beat! Comfortable seating.

Yelp
The steak as always so good. We had the salmon as well. The margaritas were so refreshing. I love all the food here.

Yelp
Morton's has been a longstanding tradition for my family and I for 25 years. I was engaged at the, now closed, Brickell location in 2002. Valentine's Day naturally evolved into an annual outing to celebrate our love, even with our daughter in tow. When my husband and I wanted to switch it up, it was our daughter who would push us to keep the tradition alive. She was quite a bit jealous this Tuesday to not join us this year due to her college classes. Sadly, my husband and I agreed this Valentine's was going to be our last year. Service was great considering the packed restaurant that night. It was the food quality that will keep us away. For a multitude of years, we also truly miss the steak cart and the real Godiva chocolate cakes. We feel that Morton's has taken the "experience" part out of our beloved restaurant and has settled for just average.

This past weekend we decided to have dinner at Morton's, my sister gave me a gift card for my birthday and decided to use it. This is a high end steakhouse chain located around the country and we decided to go to the Coral Gables location. The exterior is very homey and the staff were amazing. We were brought their famous bread, which is a round loft with onion bits on top. The bread was fluffy and went well with their butter. For appetizers we decided to order their lobster bisque which was super tasty with good fresh chunks of lobster. For the main entree my wife and I decided to share the filet mignon and lobster Mac and cheese. The steak was exceptional nice and juicy while the Mac and cheese was very creamy and rich. For dessert we decided to order the bread pudding which was perfect and the ice cream on top was a good contrast. This place is great for a romantic dinner.
