Moruss Seafood & Crab House

I placed an order to go via phone. I was told my order would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived 13 minutes later. I walked in and was not surprised by the plexiglass considering the location. The clerk was on her phone and did not look up when I approached the counter. I had to speak to her first to get her attention. She looked at me and said, “Watchu ordering”. I told her I placed a phone order for garlic crabs. I paid and she yelled into the back, “153 here”. I walked over to the section of the counter that said “Pick your food up from here”. I waited an additional ten minutes before the clerk comes out and says, “You still here”. I didn’t respond to her comment. I handed her my receipt when she asked for it. She yells, “Ay! 135 here”, hands me my receipt and leaves the shop. Yup, she mixed up the numbers. I get my order and warmed it up when I got home. The order was for a Dozen garlic crabs. It was absolutely disgusting. It was basically melted butter and a bunch of seasonings especially old bay. No garlic flavor or pieces of garlic at all. The crabs were extremely small and I spent a LOT of time trying to find the meat. Worse $50+ spent. Do better Moruss.

Would be zero stars if I could. This place fell off so bad. Store stinks, food stinks, funny taste I can’t put my finger on. Like they used the same grease from something else to make my crab cake. Bread soggy and stale. Fries old and dry. Only thing good was the ice tea. Cashier outside on phone come in don’t wash hands or nothing just back to touching food. I was a weekly customer then had stopped coming about a year ago because the service went down. Mad I decided to give them another try.

The food NASTY. The service REPULSIVE RATCHET UNPROFESSIONAL. I asked for jumbo fried shrimp cabbage, greens, and I ordered extra side mac and cheese what i got was breaded shrimp not jumbo at all i paid $28 for this i was pissed it all was stomach turning just did not look appetizing 1 taste and I just couldn't go no further. Please save your hard earned money for elsewhere.

We ordered and we will NEVER again. The crab cake was so breaded it was like mush with claw meat. My firies were cold.The hush puppies were gross. My boyfriend had mac and cheese it was runny, the cabbage was bland. The potato salad was okay and the cake was the best thing. The mix had more tea and just tasted like lemon tea verses "mix". I do not recommend. We threw this stuff away after sampling it.

The food is actually pretty good, but not good enough to withstand the absolutely atrocious service. The females that handle the orders forget they chose to work there. Based on the service and the service alone, I will not be returning and advising others not to waste their time on possibly going to jail for a crab cake.

Purchases the fried Garlic Butter crabs on Friday July 4th and they all were spoiled , smelled and taste like Ammonia. If my baby who is 12 didn’t know about what a crab should smell and taste like she would probably be sick.. I even went behind her just to be sure and she was right on. I’M DONE!!!!

The staff at Moruss Seafood and Crab House was helpful and friendly. The Seafood was a nice size and the taste was okay but, if I knew that fried onions was going to be added to my fish sub, I would've never ordered it... I like fried onions on my steak and cheese and not on my fish.

Moruss Seafood got me but it won't happen again. You get one star for giving me what I ordered and another star for trying. You completely failed but I "think" you tried. The shrimp and crab legs don't look like the picture at all. If you're hoping for 3 pieces of catfish (cuz that's what the menu says), you will not get it. You will; however, get 3 half pieces of fish. The cabbage is decent and the green beans taste like they opened a can and dumped in on the plate. No type of seasoning; not even salt and pepper. The potato salad's consistency is one step above mashed potatoes; don't do it. They did not give me napkins and I hate when you pay a lot for your food and the restaurant can't even give you decent forks. The catfish and the chicken dinners came in that cheap paper container and guess what? If you have any food that has liquid (e.g. cabbage, green beans, collards), it will soak through the container. Bottom line: If you're thinking about getting food from here.....don't! Just don't!! Do NOT!!!

Door dashed it. It arrived hot and steamy super good would order again. Just less so maybe one pound of shrimp

The lady with the bad hair day hat is the reason I stayed and even made an order. The other girl with the side part blond hair look like she ready to go home. Super nasty attitude rolled her eyes at me and everything. It's a hood spot. Crabs are good fried rice okay.

Hey it would be so cool if you answered your phone and spoke to your customers. It really would be great and helpful. I called because I had a couple questions but on 3 occasions the phone was picked up and then hung up. This occurred on Sat Jan 6th in the late afternoon 4-6p. One day I'll get to try your food but on this day I could not. Sad really.

Over priced community staple. Prices are a bit high but food is good in a pinch. Young ladies always have smiles on their faces, which is rare in this city.

There is always a crowd outside even before the pandemic so when I noticed them on Uber Eats I jumped at the chance to check Moruss Seafood out. The is overpriced and the taste and quality is mediocre at best. I ordered the crab fries and a whiting fish sandwich. The crab fries were soggy and salty. The whiting was a single piece of fish cut into 3 pieces and was underseasoned, AND my bread was stale. The entire experience left much to be desired. The staff was pleasant though. I would not recommend and will not be returning.

What a horrible place. Not only does it reek of old fish but if you are not the kind the patron they expect to see, the rude, crass children who are staff, will not even take your order. What a shame. I went there to get crabs to avoid the crowds at the wharf and realized I made a huge mistake. This place is a filthy local bodega. Do not go if you are just looking for a place for seafood. This is nothing but a neighborhood fast fried fish plexiglass-hole.

To be totally honest, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the fried crabs, via UberEats, because I know others that raves about them. They were small and some had the smell of ammonia. I was too scared to eat them so to the trash they went. Think I'll just stick with Quarterdeck and Casey's.

$60 for a garlic crab tray and what I got was baby crabs. Ordered via Uber Eats and based on the photos I saw, I was expecting 12 full grown blue crabs in my tray. Wrong! I got not even a full dozen baby crabs in my tray. They were so small I could barely get any meat out. I grew tired of trying and gave up. What I did eat was bland and the garlic butter was nonexistent. Go to QuarterDeck in Arlington. For the same price you can get a decent size dozen of blue crabs and they are very well seasoned. I only went here cause QD was out. Never again! Thank goodness I got my money back.

Was told about this place from my co-worker. Just finally made the effort to pay them a visit. And I wasnt disappointed. I ordered the fried crab...this day they were 11.99lb... They were drenched in this lovely garlic sauce and fried to perfection. I will return and try the claws in garlic butter..as well as the steamed MD crabs. Since they accept EBT...who trying to pay for my next meal there..lol

Giving them a 5 star rating based on the front team alone! I mean they are friendly, accommodating and definitely keep you entertained while you're waiting. The crabs were small but I was told that before ordering and they threw in some extra. Apparently there's a shortage on males right now. Shoutout to Ashley and Dasia for being so welcoming and pleasant. I will be back again for sure!

Visited this place for the first time today and my ONLY regret is that I didn't find it sooner! The store is bright and clean, the menu has tons of tempting offerings and the staff is incredibly friendly and respectful (which isn't always the case in places like this). We ordered 2 doz live large males and they were HUGE (like bigger than we've EVER seen in DC) and as sweet as candy! The Mo's platter was also delicious! That garlic butter!! As much as I love the Wharf, I hate the traffic, crowds and prices. This has just become our new go to spot!! Thanks Mo's!

Unexpected little seafood joint on the Minnesota Ave strip, SE side-- near a liquor store and something else, nondescript. It's a small mom and pop, store front serving up seafood with love. The Obamas on the wall and the decor was very down home. Butter garlic shrimp! Not de-veined for my enjoyment-- sad face, but the flavor was good. The other seafood ordered was enjoyed by those that could eat non-shellfish, unlike me. The real gem of this place is the customer service, specifically the smiles when you walk through the door. The people smiled genuinely and said hello like they were happy to see us! That made me want to order everything on the menu. I love people that share the sunshine and ... ummm sell seafood? LOL Thanks, Moruss Seafood!

I ordered 1 dozen of medium males, 1/2 pound of steamed shrimps and 1 order of jumbo shrimps with fries. The crabs were so delicious and juicy with just enough seasoning on them. I highly recommend this establishment. I will definitely be back. 2 Thumbs up

Another God bless day. I just left Moruss Seafood without placing an order. I was asked to step outside before placing an order. There were approximately 3 persons ahead. Two of which walked in seconds before me. After waiting outside awhile, those 2 persons continued to figure out their order. I'm a federal employee working from home. My time is just as important. My order, well over $100.00 had not been taken. Now back home by foot and no patriotism. Management must figure out prioritization. Those who know what they want and patrons taking up space and trying to figure it out. Myself and the new owner have an unresolved matter.

I purchased food from this establishment and I must say it's fresh always, Great varieties, and excellent service. I will recommend it to my family and friends.

The customer service was great and my crabs were HUGE and juicy I'm going back very soon for another dozen as soon as I can and to me they're more than worth the price and I got my order FAST

I mean, I'm a DC girl what can I say!! I love their seafood, especially the garlic trays! It's your choice of crabs or shrimp soaking in garlic & butter with some parsley to "pretty it up" LOL. I've also had their crabcake, which was pretty good. I don't know what kind of seasoning they put on the steamed shrimp but BABY! Even when I'm done, I'm trying to find pieces of shrimp just so I can dip in the seasoning one more time smh lol!! Overall, the place has cool customer service, even though they're always busy! Plus another great thing is there's a liquor store right next door, so you can get your beer or wine to enjoy with your seafood!

So, I'm DC, but I'm not like DC DC, so I'm oblivious to certain neighborhood jewels like Moruss Seafood. Someone put me onto this place and I must say that I am very satisfied. It's a small seafood/carryout spot, but the appearance has nothing to do with the quality of food. I got the fried seafood platter which came with fried shrimp, fries scallops, a crab cake and two sides (wedges and collard greens for me). Each component of the meal was great. The shrimp were fairly large which was convenient for eating. The scallops were fried to perfection and the crab cake was solid. The wedges had a nice batter and the collards were cooked home style. My friend had the garlic crabs which had a very nice garlic seasoning. The customer service was good. Our order was missing some shrimp and before we could get back in the store to tell them it was missing, they already had it steaming. In closing, I'd recommend Moruss Seafood if you need to get your seafood fix. There was a steady stream of customers on a Sunday afternoon, so the food must speak for itself. The menu is fairly extensive and not just limited to seafood, so who knows what type of gems are hidden in there. The seafood is a little pricey depending on what you get, but all seafood is expensive, so they are par for the course. Go check em out.

I get the fish sub every time I go, and it's always on point. Price is high but it's worth it.

Was craving a crab cake and always see a line down the block for this neighborhood spot, so decided to try it! Definitely satisfied the craving- pretty simple, no frills, good portion size, and tasted great. Got delivery through GrubHub and it came faster than expected/estimated. The cheeseburger was also great - definitely get hot peppers on top- and the onion rings are good. Also ordered hush puppies but they were a little dry, not as savory as I would have liked. Will definitely order from here again for that seafood fix.

I'd been eyeing this spot for some time & am glad I gave it a try! Crabs, crabs, crabs! Need I say more?! Their specialty, the garlic butter crabs, are finger licking good! I'm not originally from the DMV (Atl, shawty!), so eating whole crabs is still rather new to me. The garlic butter crab tray comes with claws and "body" meat & the body has been slightly cracked for easier eating. I plowed through the whole dozen!! Their potato wedges were good too. No complaints: easy street parking, friendly neighborhood interaction (I love my people...all of 'em!), decent customer service. The young lady who took my order looked and acted super stoned. Do you, boo! I'll be returning.

Don't know what y'all bammas talking 'bout. Had the Mo's Crab Tray for the second time and it was banging! Had other menu items that weren't as good, e.g fried chicken, fish filet, mac n cheese. I will stick with the crabs and keep it moving.

I placed an ordered the fried garlic crabs as I have done before. They were spoiled, bad. I'm not sure how they couldn't have smelled it because when I opened my box once it was delivered it smelled like ammonia. This is dangerous for seafood. So this tells me they aren't practicing health code guidelines with preparing and cooking and storing seafood. If they were this would have never happened. Will never order from this establishment again. Eat at your own risk.

I had their delicious crab cake burger on Monday. It was so good that I was going to get another today. However, when my coworker arrived to pick up food, she was greeted by the OWNER with nasty remarks. He then told her he was throwing the food in the trash and to leave his restaurant. No matter how good the food, I can't visit this place again.

Disgusting idk who they are trying to bootleg with this concept but no shade i do not trust no foreigners making my seafood!!! Everything was garbage i dont see why people eat here!!! Greens were bland mac & cheese was disgusting!!! Just disgusting you might as well go to H st to horace & dickies & they arent even good. This place is just below them! Lol

The food was great. Didn't take much time to prepare. The crab legs were juicy the family really enjoyed dinner!

I know people have issues with some of the employees but the Spanish girl at the register is very sweet and professional. I also saw how the crabs/crab legs etc. are 'cooked' in the garlic butter, lol - they ARE NOT. It's a big jug of the stuff poured over the finished product...if only I could get the recipe, if you know a good recipe email me!!!

This place used to be good before the owner died ...now you pay $10 for a fish lunch and get 2 small pieces of fish stay away from this rip off Joint not worth the money

First of All They take too Damn Long!!!! I Called In my order at 4:54pm and got to Morrus around 5:10pm. When I got there it was packed. I thought when you call in , your food should be ready or at least Almost ready . My food was NOT. I Waited for 30 EXTRA minutes to get the WRONG FOOD. Oh and They Made me late picking up my daughter from school!

Went here today for lunch and ordered a pound of jumbo steam shrimp. Got back to my office and notice all the shrimp weren't jumbo after paying $20... but that wasn't the worse part. Some of the shrimp was old couldn't peel it and the rest was mushy and had some type of pink slime on them. When I contact the store the man was rude and didn't offer to handle the situation. I will never eat here again. $20 dollars wasted.

The fried oysters were very delightful.The staff was friendly also.The prices are moderate as well. I only hope they will sell raw oysters in the future.

If this place ever say they out of crabs please run. They sold me some stinking crabs. When I tried to return said he doesn't do refunds, cause he'd be out of business. They survive off of selling cooked food for food stamps.

Hot and ready! Today the best choice were the males. Meat is sooooo buttery and whatever they cook the crabs in.... Makes the juice in the crab heaven!!

They are extremely delicious. Their crabs and shrimp are cooked with love. We purchased 2 Mo's snow crab & shrimp platters. With the garlic butter. Oh Em Geeee they are soooo good. Yes expensive but good. To me it's worth it. You don't get FLAVOR at the wharf. The greens weren't my favorite and my wife liked the crab gumbo as well. It was ok to me. Try them out if you're not afraid of FLAVOR!

The crab fries could def have more crab than the sprinkle that's on top. The funnel cake fries were great! I will be ordering more things on the menu like the steamed shrimp!!!

I only got crab legs because that is what I was craving...they were typical crab legs. Crab sauce was good. I'd go back and try other menu items.

I orders a seafood platter. I was told to wait 20 min. 20 min has passed and still no platter. I was told to wait 20 more minutes at which time I asked for my money back. Manager says no refund and I can't get my money back. I understand that there is no refund but to not have the good and still can't get my money back is the problem. I contacted consumer affairs and opened a case. Manager was did not offer any other resolutions just that there will be no refund. Poor customer service can't say if the food was good or not cause I never received it.

Uber eats-Catfish was soggy and salty I had requested that the crunchy but it was not. The green beans were from a can. Hush puppies were ok.

I decided to try this place out after hearing people rave about it and seeing the Yelp reviews, I must have went on an off day because I was def disappointed. Parking- There was street parking but beware, this place is located in a residential area. You maybe ticketed. Customer service- The customer service was horrible! If I could give this place zero stars I would based on this alone. For starters I telephoned in my order and was told it'd take 20 minutes to prepare. I got there about 30 minutes later and they told me it'd be another 15 minutes because broiled takes longer. I requested that my seafood and sides be separated in different containers. I ordered both collard greens and hush puppies so I didn't want them to mix together. When my food was finally done it wasn't separated as requested and collard green juice had pretty much soaked my hush puppies. When I pointed this out to the cashier the rude guy said "that's not my problem, I don't make the food." He called an older guy over who said that they'd have to remake my sides because they were So messy (my point exactly ) and he'd have to charge me 50 cent per container! I've never been in an establishment that charges for that but I paid the extra dollar anyway. I waited an extra 15 minutes so at this point I waited for over 45 minutes in store for an order I called in. Food: I ordered the seafood fiesta which cost 27.99 for two piece of either whiting or talapia, two small sides 3 shrimp and 3 scallops. The food was disgusting. The talapia smelled spoiled. The shrimp were no better and really small, the crab cake if you could call it that was pancake flat and made mostly of filler, the hush puppies were burnt, the collard greens tasted straight out of a can and the scallops were rubbery. I threw the order into the trash. I could get better food at the wharf for half the cost and definitely better customer service. I will never patronize this place again.

This place had potential. I wanted to love it because honesty the food was good af but they had 2 chances and they blew it. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING. So, my boo ordered crab fries, garlic butter shrimp, 2 chocolate cake slices, and a tea and used Uber eats. Cool. The food took about 30-40 minutes to get to us. Okay. We get the food... no crab fries. Called the restaurant and the guy insisted the Uber driver took all the food... then he said "Oh, no. They are right here." Still at the restaurant. . He offered to make fresh fries but said she would have to call Uber to see if they would come get them and actually deliver them. Okay. Uber just refunded the money. Feeling bad for my boo, I ended up ordering her more fries, myself some BUFFALO wings with ranch, and another tea (bomb af). Took the food the same amount of time which was cool. We got the food. My boo got her crab fries and I got BARBECUE wings and NOT buffalo like I had ordered. . They had an opportunity to redeem themselves! They messed up BOTH orders to the SAME house. I will eat there again because, like I said, the food was bomb but I'd have to go to the restaurant.

They have mushy crabs and use their old crabs for the fried crabs. The prices are too high and the manager is rude .Just bad all together.

I gave Moe another chance. But it is no use. They have gone way of all the great food places. I WILL NEVER spend another dollar with them. No is just about the dollar and not customer service.

i keep asking myself what about this place is so addictive....THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE!!! i think my hubby told them that he loved them the other day but crabcakes on crabcakes on shrimp and other delicious items such as cakes!!! my diet is out of the window but I love this place and will forever be a fan!!!!!

I absolutely love this place and the food is really good. This is my go to for crabs and shrimp and it's not expensive at all. If you are craving fresh hot crabs, shrimp, fresh fish, any seafood just try it and you will go back
