MO’s is the best seafood I’ve ever had! And I even went to Hawaii earlier this year! The food is fresh, delicious, full of flavor, and so satisfying and filling. The Marionberry cobbler actually made me cry tears of joy, it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. The employees were kind, upbeat, punctual, and made the experience that much better. The whole environment was absolutely beautiful and I visited the restaurant three times during my visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good food AND good environment and service!

Finally were able to come to the Original Mo's!! What fun!! Food was so good! Had the fish tacos & LOVED them! Our server was excellent & spunky!!! Just how we like it!! The food came so fast, we didn't know what to do with ourselves! So of course, we dove in & devoured it all!! Such fun to share with our young adult kids!!

Last year we ate at the Mo's in Cannon Beach and it was amazing so this year we stopped by in Newport! Did not disappoint! My favorites were: the seafood noodles (SO al dente!!), shrimp skewers (SO crunchy & juicy & flavor is amazing), and of course, the signature clam chowder. We absolutely housed this. I love Mo's!

Google
Firstly there are 2 Moes on this street. The one bay side does not offer fried foods, the other street side does. We went to the street side Moes simply because I wanted onion rings with lunch. It was busy, our food came quickly and absolutely the best service from Debi our waitress. She was amazing. We had Halibut, clam chowder, onion rings Halibut was fresh, tasty. Just a note the Halibut is caught in Alaska, flash frozen and then shipped. Chowder was good so we're the onion rings. Ask about meal upgrades if you want to share several things.

Mo's NEVER fails!!! Hadn't had it in over 3 years and it was as delicious as I remembered. And you can never lose washing it down with an ice cold beer. 🥰 Chowder superb and shrimp even better! *chefs kiss* It was so good we visited two days in a row!

Google
Mo's Seafood & Chowder I got myself the chicken strips. They were super good and the dipping ranch was delicious also got a soda. The service was super nice and friendly. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was a little dim and dark. I would recommend stopping in to buy yourself something to eat.

Google
Great Job Mo's. Mom and I went to the Mo's on the ocean side. They don't serve fried foods. We wanted Fish n Chips. We got the Cod Fish n Chips. Excellent with delicious starter and a cup of Clam Chowder. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful experience. We went on a Wednesday so the crowds where not here. Found parking right in front of Mo's. Service was great and the food was cooked perfectly.

Google
My family loves Mo’s, and this was our first visit to the Newport location. We were seated right away, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming with smiles all around. Great experience!

Yelp
Yum! Don't know what's up with these one star reviews. Great bustling location on the Newport bayfront. While it was busy, there was no wait when we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon in mid-July. We opted for the clam chowder in a bread bowl + onion rings and were not disappointed. As someone who spent years in New England, this bowl of chowder was legit. Fast service, fair prices, and overall positive experience. Nothing like a bowl of clam chowder near the ocean!
google avatar

Keely N.

Yelp
The tables were cute with seashells! I thought it was odd that the server brought 2 cups of clam chowder even though we ordered 2 additional bowls. Mo'mosa was good for $7. I was disappointed by the onion rings! I thought that it was extremely overcooked and a bit pricey for its quality.

Yelp
Friendly service and great food. While I wasn't hungry enough for a full meal, I wanted to indulge on some oysters! I The baked oysters come served with melted butter and lemon wedges. The oysters were super plump, flavorful, and satisfying. I wish they had fried oysters too, but these were still awesome. My partner ordered a bowl of clam chowder. He told me he would rate it a 10/10. Waiter was always smiling and made sure we were taken care of. When we come back to visit, I look forward to trying more food from Mo's. Worth it!

Mikaela T.

Yelp
They have good food I will say I got a house salad and I didn't know it had shrimp on it as most places don't have that on house salads so I would have liked the waiter to tell me because I ended up not eating it.

David A.

Yelp
8/10! service was alright, food was great, hot and delivered pretty quickly. Portions were great as well. Was pretty cold in the restaurant but it's the beach so I can't blame em'.

Julie C.

Yelp
We've been going to Mo's since 1978, whenever we've been able to be here on vacation. We went last night, and the clam chowder didn't even taste like it had clams in it at all - the only taste was adding salt and pepper to it. Extremely disappointing - we won't be back:/
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great!! I ordered the halibut fish and chips, with a side of clam chowder. I Tried a bite if the cabbage shrimp salad and the marian berry pie with scoop of vanilla ice cream!! YUMMO!!

Dawnna F.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible food. Old lady Mo herself which I have met would be rolling in her grave. Let's start with the chowder it had absolutely zero flavor we had to add tons of salt pepper and butter as well as the pieces of clam were all like gerbled up pieces. We ordered the seafood combination platter and calamari which had no taste to the breading and it tasted like it had been fried in dirty oil. Lastly the dinner salads with the coleslaw and Bay shrimp on top locked any flavor at all and there was very little dressing to cover the top. I have no idea why they're busy they even had a party of 60 coming in it was truly disgusting there was four of us and not one felt it was any better than the store-bought Frozen seafoods. The calamari was the absolute worst of all we couldn't even make it out and it was so overcooked it was just awful. For spending $15 bucks I feel like I should get my money back.

Brian P.

Yelp
We had a party of 7 adults and 3 babies, all under 1 year old. The server introduced himself and promptly told us that a 20% gratuity would automatically be added to our bill because our party was larger than 9 people. The attitude we received right off the bat was off putting at best. It's unfortunate because we usually leave a 30% tip anyway. As I was walking back to my table I overheard the kitchen staff talking bad about our party saying our party had a bad vibe. I informed the waiter that we were going to pay for our drinks and leave. After leaving we ended up going to the Rogue Restaurant down the street. The service was awesome and the food even better. Unless you are looking for that kind of"Vibe" I would strongly encourage you to Go Rogue and avoid Mo's mediocre Restaurant.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
I had a great experience here. I had a couple drinks with live music and a chowder and an on the house marionberry cobbler just because we were from out of town and have never had Marionberry before. The service was super welcoming and the dessert was hands down some of the best I've had. Would absolutely come here again. Also seems like this is where the locals go.
google avatar

Ally D.

Yelp
I went in a couple of weeks ago because friends from out of town wanted to visit. The tables were dirty and it was possibly the worst clam chowder I've had. I'd rather eat a Progresso clam chowder. Mostly just potatoes and a thick, cornstarchy chowder. I counted all of 5 clams in the bowl I got. So disappointing.

Yelp
Ok again this is just my experience at that time. So on a nice beautiful day in Newport after a long walk on the beach with my dogs decided to hit a Moe's. This moe's does fried foods. Yum healthy lol. Ok so I really didn't want to dine in so I walked in to order take out. I ordered the combination plate. Looked good on the menu & I was hungry. The order was wild cod, fried shrimp, clam strips, fries and chowder oh and a 16oz Pepsi. (23.95) My friend ordered 2 cod tacos and chowder & a can of pop and said they were good (20.95 ). Should be for 20.95. So now my turn. We got are orders & went to the jetty to eat. So I handed her box & I grabbed mine. To my surprise and immediately got upset. I actually got one fried shrimp! Two cod fish patties that looked like the fish was on a major diet. They were so skinny & tough to even tear apart & the clam strips were little hard nuggets. Clam strips I actually had maybe 5 pieces that were edible & the rest looked like rocks. This was actually the first time I ever was disappointed in this place. Now the chowder and Pepsi were really good & to beat all and another huge surprise was and they may just started this was the charge for the take out. An extra 10% gratuity charge & then they want a tip. You need to pay your employees more. Because I will never tip there again because of that. (So my bill looked like this)... (23.95+ combination plate & chowder & a ton of fries & I mean a lot of fries). (20.95 2 tacos & chowder). +16 ounce Pepsi 3.25 + 1 can of 12 ounce pop +3.50 + gratuity 5.16 = 56.61. So I will say these things! This may be a fluke of just being very quick in trying to fill orders as fast as they can. I don't know. So I actually like Moe's dinning in (never had a bad experience) atmosphere, lighting and service was good. Just seems dining in may be the way to go. I know all about inflation but realize that when your prices go way up for many reasons. Many think you need to pay your employees more. Just saying. You lose customers who are were loyal to you and are local. So again this was my experience at that time.

Yelp
After a day at the beach, we decided to get some grub. We headed to Mo's. I ordered the chiopino and got some chowder. The broth of the chiopino was very flavorful and appropriate. The chowder was typical Mo's. There always seems to be debate about chowder, but I do like theirs. Kids got kid friendly meals and the wife got Halibut and chips. Our server Kyler was very prompt and appropriately attentive. The place was pretty full even for the early supper time when we arrived. The decor of this place definitely tells the tale of being in a fishing town and locale.

Yelp
The Slumgullion cannon bowl was very over priced and Luke warm. I was disappointed for going to The Original Moe's. Our waiter was johnny on spot and it was a nice place and kept clean.
google avatar

Julie Ann S.

Yelp
Friday May 23rd we were there. Great, great server but the clam chowder and cheese sandwich were Luke warm. Even after sandwich was put back on grill it was not warm. Bill was $43 for food that was just below okay. This is Newport MO's.

Yelp
Had to try the famous clam chowder. The restaurant is super cute, lots of history and little merch you can buy. The service was great. Super friendly, attentive and fast. We ordered the family size chowder, and the four of us were all able to have seconds. We also tried the garlic bread, which was great to dunk into the chowder. Overall we thought the chowder was okay, but the service was wonderful.

vona w.

Yelp
Great service for there they had 45 min wait for a party of 10 but waitress was able to find us a table faster, our waiter was awesome very nice and friendly. We had one grilled cheese that sat in the window in pickle juice for 20 min but other then that everyone enjoyed their meals and had a great experience.

Lita P.

Yelp
There's a reason you go to Mo's. It's not for groundbreaking culinary recipes or suggestions on wine pairings. It's nostalgia, consistency, and affordability. It's when you just want a a big bread bowl of chowder or some old fashioned deep fried seafood. I came here for a late lunch, at around 2pm on a Monday afternoon. I knew exactly what I wanted: a cup of chowder with cheesy garlic bread. I was seated and barely glanced at the menu. The eagle eyed waitress beelined toward me and cheerfully said something like "I see you set aside you menu already; you must have a plan!" Yes, I did. Mo's waitresses are true professionals, in my experience. This woman was everything you want in a waitress: older, genuinely friendly, prompt, and efficient. Like a good Jersey diner waitress, these women are usually ten times better at their jobs than the folks working at the fancy restaurants. Don't let people talk you out of Mo's because it's "basic". Sometimes you want something simple and comforting and relatively affordable. It's a solid choice.

Yelp
We came here on a Monday afternoon after visiting the lighthouse and tide pools. We were greeted at the front and asked for our cell number so they could text us when our table was ready. The wait was about 15 min. While we were waiting to receive our text we walked to the local shops and we were able to talk to some locals who were catching crabs in the pier. After we returned to be seated it was a cute medium sized place with ample seating and clean tables. We were greeted by our server who was very attentive and friendly. My fiancé and I had the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl. So freakin delicious! Our daughter had the fish n chips from the kids menu. To drink i had a mimosa called a "Momosa" which was larger than I expected and my fiancé had a beer which he said was flat. Had the beer not been flat I would give 5 stars. So overall 4 stars for this experience which I think is pretty great. I would definitely come back here and I do recommend it. Payment method includes TAP they bring the device to you at your table and are able to pay that way with your smart phone or card.

Yelp
We were very disappointed at our visit on Father's Day. We arrived around 1:30 and was promptly seated by a nice server. It was the food. The chowder was good but I had the fish, clams and shrimp that was awful. There was just batter and no clams and everything was greasy and overcooked in oil that was obviously not changed ina long time. fried items should never be almost black. When I complained, she just shrugged her shoulders. Won't go back again. Sure miss Duggers.

Yelp
Great service. A Saturday, labor day weekend, and they were able to get our party of 9 seated within 20 minutes. Our waitress was so on-the-ball. You could ask for something and she was back with it in seconds. Unfortunately didn't get her name, but all the staff we interacted with were great. Grilled cheese comes with chips, but you're able to do fries or tater tots instead. They had slices of sourdough bread on the menu so I asked if they could make it on that, didn't expect it to be huge! The bread was so soft. Easily some of the best sourdough I've ever had. The cheese pulls were amazing! Had my goddaughter with me, they gave us a cup of water for her with a toy shark that she got to keep. We thought that was the coolest thing. Definitely unique. I do wish they had parking however, the area is crazy and it was very hard to find parking.

Joyce H.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was mediocre at best. This kids items were pretty expensive for what they were. Maybe it's just the area but we didn't try anything that would have us rushing back.

Harlan A.

Yelp
Service was fine. Food was not order of Halibut Fish and chips $25. Three Mrs Paulson frozen fish quality fish pieces. No garlic bread minuscule fry's. Order #2 Cod fish and chips. Over cooked had to be sent back to the kitchen. Long time customer.... Not any more.

Yelp
Known for their chowder. And it's dang good. Service was prompt and attentive. Ambiance was that of a casual dining with shared tables if needed

Ivy F.

Yelp
Our server Kyler was absolutely amazing. He was so kind and funny. My issue was the food. Im a simple girl, i enjoy a nice mac and cheese. The Mo's in Lincoln city has amazing mac and cheese (from many previous experiences) but this location seems to lack any care for the food they made me. It was cold and strangely sticky. it tasted like off brand boxed mac and cheese. It looked unappetizing and it was unappetizing. It tasted like i was served the bottom of the pot cooked from hours earlier. I really enjoy Mo's but this meal put a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. Ill stick to the Mo's in Lincoln City.

Megan L.

Yelp
Best clam chowder in Oregon! It's usually busy because it's so good. Whenever we visit Oregon, we always come to Mo's. It's in a fun location over the water and has a great view. It's a fun atmosphere too. They have good fish and chips. I recently tried the shrimp skewers and those were delicious. You can choose whether to have your shrimp cooked in garlic butter or blackened seasoning. You can also get both. I decided to try both. I was thinking I'd like the garlic butter more but I actually liked the blackened seasoning more. Next time I will get only the blackened seasoning. I really wish there was a Mo's where I live.

Yelp
I've come here for years with classes of mine after we tidepool. They do a great job handling multiple tables all at once, split checks, and picky eaters.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Awesome... been a fan since the 60's, just a girl whose dad loved to tell fish stories...& the halibut & chowder are legendary & delicious
google avatar

Olivia T.

Yelp
Loves mo's so much! Always consistent in good tasting food and very attentive waitress :)

Nancy P.

Yelp
Love their chowder in a bread bowl. Plenty of fish in the fish 'n chips. Iconic Oregon coast place.
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Justin, our server was amazing! The food was great and we actually ate at the Mo's across the street from the original tesand got to watch, through the window, the Fishman come in with their fresh catch!
google avatar

Dale R.

Yelp
Excellent Chowder. Unfortunately this is not a pet friendly location in Waldorf OR with outdoor seating so I had to still get a bowl to go and eat it in the truck.

Kimberley B.

Yelp
I was nervous after reading poor reviews but we had nothing but 5 star experience. Our service was outstanding and the food was fine. We came in at 5:00 pm on a Saturday and were quickly seated. Our server was pleasant and extremely attentive with us and all of his customers. The chowder was fine and the fish was good. We have zero complaints and left the restaurant feeling good and satisfied
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
Always delicious & this location has great service, consistently. It's gets busy but they're moving fast & they've got a system to speed things along. I recommend putting your name down & getting a text when your table is ready. This is the perfect time to wander the shops in the area or walk the pier!
google avatar

Toni-Lyn S.

Yelp
View amazing. While we waited for about 30min for a server to come ask if we wanted drinks we enjoyed watching someone get a whole lot of crabs, bins of fish, boats driving by and a few sea lions love love love the water views. My little girl got a shark toy with her chocolate milk. Chowder was yummy. Cheese quesadilla for kids, she only ate one piece out of 4 and she actually likes quesadillas. My wrap; great tortilla choice, cod needed salt, bacon was the best part. Parents decided to inhale their food and didn't even bother telling me how their food was, but I think it's cuz we were all hangry after going to another restaurant beforehand and then waiting 30min for someone to ask us for a drink at this restaurant. Hubby said tuna melt tasted like a tuna melt he can make and chowder comes close to our favorite IVAR'S clam chowder.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
It wasn't anything special but it was okay, we had the fish and chips she had the cod I had the halibut, I wished I had the cod,no different but 5 dollars more. The salad was simple but outstanding, a house made garlic ranch with the most tender bay shrimp I think I've ever had. Fries were hot and crispy. Service was spot on, Marcelello ? He was great. Nothing to write home about with the ambience, but wasn't expecting much. Many old pictures of years gone by, even their photos, were faded. Okay, it was pretty good, I forgot to take pictures because we ate it all very fast wolfing down the meal's! I would suggest it, not cheap. Oh yeah, 30 minute wait, we walked around while waiting. Went fast !

Yelp
I don't know why this place has a low review on Yelp, by the time I wrote this review, it's 3.5 stars. Luckily I didn't check Yelp before entering, because usually I don't enter a 3.5 star restaurant. Best seafood I have had in a while. The mix seafood bowl (Cioppino) is out is this world. The soup is so flavorful that we had to order extra bread to dip in it. Blacken Halibut steak was perfectly cooked. 20/10 for the service. Our server is sooo nice and helpful. It's a family owned restaurant. Let's support our local business.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, chowder tastes great, service is great. Ambiance is on par with its location. Very busy chowder place. Place to go. Deducted a star because of the cod fried fish has some hard parts with texture and my kid did not like because they probably forgot to season it, the calamari is great though, very tender but no crisp outside. still well recommended.

Yelp
Visiting from California! Heard clam chowder was good so I thought. I would give it a try!! So good and worth it! Thank you

Yelp
Mo's review If you find yourself in Newport, OR, on the historic waterfront after you stop and see the sea lions at the pier, you MUST stop in at a local legends. As you walk in, the ambiance of Mo's is a prefect representation of the surrounding area and its people. After being seated we were greeted by Leslie and her friendly personality was extremely welcoming and fit well with the group. She achieved super status when she returned with my Arnold Palmer WITH the spoon in the cup to stir. WIth that alone she achieved a new level in service that others will be measured against for sure. As for the food, where do I begin. Everyone enjoyed a cup of Mo's clam chowder. I would definitely put Mo's chowder in the top 10 of chowders in the area, but what made it even better was the crackers served. Wish I could remember the brand, because they were pretty good. Not that salty and fit perfectly with the chowder. I then started with my main dish, the shrimp tacos. Now I have been on a personal adventure of finding the best shrimp tacos on the west coast since I had some amazing tacos on Florida. But... not going back to Florida any time soon. The taco was served on a light flower tortilla. On the surface it was a simple taco with all the ingredients that you would expect. It was the flavor of the, what I can only assume is locally fished shrimp, that really brought the taste of the taco alive. After telling Leslie about my enjoyment of the taco she told me about the amazing history of the family sauce recipe and it was then I knew that these flavors were local and amazing. The only thing to make this taco go from amazing to almost spiritual was when Leslie brought out a bottle of Silagy Smokin' Habanero Sauce. I am not a super fan of hot sauce for the sake of heat, but this was not it. Silagy's sauce brought another level of smokie flavor with a perfect amount of heat. Basically took that shrimp taco to 11. If you can't tell by now, Mo's rates as a 100% "I will be back". I have finally found my west coast shrimp taco and I have already ordered bottles of Silagy's hot sauce. 5+ starts. Recommend!

Yelp
The food was so yummy!! We ordered seafood ciopipino, seafood Alfredo with a side of clam chowder, grilled shrimp salad sandwich with side of clam chowder and of course the famous marion berry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! They were all so special and full of flavor. Matlyn was very kind and friendly! The food came in fast and warm! The music and vibe were nice, made new friends sitting by our table.. just an overall good experience to have!

Yelp
This is an interesting establishment. A pub setting, with a wall that opens to the sidewalk to allow the fresh air in, and some interesting style of decor... such as a sign that says "YSDERSOMENIMORORSISASISDENDERISORSIS?!" which really left us puzzled and in conversation about what it meant. The server that took care of us was fast, polite and attentive. She was so fast, in fact, that she was able to come out of the kitchen, notice a group of teenagers try to dash after dining, and chase them down to pay outside on the sidewalk, before they could get away. That was totally rude of the teens, but the waitress was able to laugh about it afterwards; we praised her up for being on top of things. I ordered the shrimp salad, Salmon and fries, and was very pleasantly surprised; for a pub near a dock, the food was actually really good. I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.

Al H.

Yelp
Somehow I doubt the locals come here, except maybe in offseason. Crowded, noisy and full of fellow travelers, we were served quickly and out the door in nearly record time. My clam chowder bread bowl had good chowder but a tough chewy bread instead of a crispy fresh light bread. Really wasn't worth but a few bites. My friends enjoyed the taste of their cod sandwiches but felt they were small. Service was robotic but this is a tourist joint and you're moved in and out. Glad I came once to see what all the locations are about.

Eddie W.

Yelp
Service was great, but unfortunately the sea food is mediocre. The MIL's shrimp was over cooked and cold. My wife's halibut (fish and chips) were good. Kids were not a fan of their seafood Alfredo, but the sauce was good. But by far one of the worst things I've ever been served was their oyster stew. Imagine fishy tasting water with chunks of flavorless rubber balls that were mangled by a hydrolic press. And it was completely unseasoned, except for the fishiness. Now that I think about it, the broth tasted like ocean water but with less salt. The server was understanding and substituted my order for a hamburger, which was surprisingly cooked very well and tasted much better than a burger from a seafood restaurant had any right to be. The ambiance was loud, as it's clearly a tourist trap restaurant and the place was filled with loud families. I'm not judging...my family can be loud too, just beware if that's not your thing or have a hard time hearing. Overall, there are much better seafood places so go check out one of them instead.

Yelp
3.5/5 both agreed by me and my other half Had higher expectations especially after seeing the yelp reviews. Also the waiter was ehhh he forgot to bring us crackers with soup and came off a little weird. Restaurant not busy at all and he took a while to take our orders.

Yelp
Mo's has been around since the 1940s. Not surprisingly there are now multiple locations. We went to the Newport one right on the water with an amazing view of the bay. It's called the Annex snd is a little smaller, with no fried options. That was fine with us. We split the seafood combo which can be an app or appetizer, with fresh shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels and yum. Comes with a cup of clam chowder and garlic cheese bread. We've bee. Coming here since the 1980s, and it's still the best seafood around! Always crowded so recommend coming during off hours!

Hayley C.

Yelp
It's the best chowder ever, hands down. Don't miss on the butter square on top either, just close your eyes as it melts.
google avatar

Hanne A P.

Yelp
I've been going to Mo's my entire life, yet this was my first time across the street at the original. We *always* eat at the Annex, I always order the same thing and I always leave the same way: fat and happy. But this time, the Annex was closed and my mom and I needed and afternoon pick-me-up consisting of coffee and cobbler. Was it awkward to be seated in such an unfamiliar place? Absolutely. Was the cobbler just as good as across the street? 100%. I'll be back again (from Seattle) in a few weeks and make my way to this unfamiliar, yet home-like place for my standard order. Brucewich with chowder, cocktail sauce on the side, a Dr. Pepper (and marionberry cobbler to go).
