Moshi Moshi Knife Sharpening

I had a really bad chip on a fairly expensive Japanese knife. I sharpen my own steel but this was out of my league. I brought it to Moshi Moshi and trusted the reviews from Google. Honestly my knife looks better now than when I first bought it years ago. It’s ridiculously sharp and I just so happened to pick up an antique French chefs knife Michael Myers would be proud to wield. Moshi Moshi’s prices are very reasonable for the work that they do. I am very satisfied with the work they have done for me.

During Covid Michael was a word of mouth reference for knife sharpening. His bubbly, kind, and educational demeanor won over many folks, including myself, in addition to his innate ability to sharpen not only knives, but scissors, pizza wheels, pocket knives, etc etc etc. Over the last four years I have taken everything that needed sharpening to him and have never been disappointed. He has excellent rapport with people, a constant desire to learn more and improve his craft, and a lot of fun with his growing staff and customers. I can truly say I’m a fan and a friend. Moshi Moshi sharpening is a one of a kind experience and tip top service. They go above and beyond. Michael personally helped navigate me through the qualities of a knife to purchase in Japan. There’s no one else I would trust with its care than him. To see him and Moshi Moshi grow is heartwarming and inspiring! Please enjoy the most fun I’ve had as evidence of the “Moshi” experience!

I’ve had my entire knife set sharpened by Moshi Moshi at least once a year and my main knife more often for the last 4 years. Every single time it’s like getting a new knife out of the box. I have a kikuichi, shun, wustof, etc. I wouldn’t trust anybody else with your steel if you want them to be the sharpest.

I've been using Moshi to sharpen my knives for a few years now. My blades come back happy and sharp! Michael is a savant and is generous with his time and advice. After the first trip, I knew I could trust him and that trust is rewarded. (I seriously had to stop using my Japanese steel because I couldn't do it myself and there was no one around - enter Michael!!!!!) He's got a new shop close to YDFM so it's a match made in heaven for anyone who loves to cook. Easy scheduling, easy payment, great location, great prices, stellar service. Regardless of what you use, your knives will be much better after a trip to Moshi Moshi!

I have called on Moshi Moshi for sharpening help with kitchen knives over the years. They always return from a spa day with Michael in shockingly better-than-new condition. If you are even remotely serious about what you do in the kitchen, you will become a fan as well. The cost is reasonable, and the work is spectacular. After many years, I recently took a class with Michael on sharpening. It was really a great experience. I learned a lot and am excited to use my new knowledge. But only enough to bridge visits back to Moshi Moshi.

Moshi Moshi got my knives sharper than when I first bought them! Michael was easy to communicate with, clear, and super nice. Quick turnaround, too, and he offers a loaner knife if you need one.

Moshi Moshi came to me through a recommendation from a friend who is professionally trained as a chef. it took me upwards of a year to commit to booking my appointment and drop off my knives. however, when i finally did drop off, michael was kind enough to extend a loaner for me to use during the week while he sharpened all of my “daily drivers.” it was a NICE loaner too! right now, i’m waiting to go pick up round 2 of knives and a pizza cutter (!!!) and dropped those off when i picked up my first set. YALL my knives are ridiculously sharp, to the point i don’t cry when i cut onions anymore! to give you an idea of what i brought: i gave him 2 cutco knives, and some out of a regular block that my boyfriend got as a gift for christmas one year. (probs from amazon) now he’s sharpening another few out of the amazon block, a pizza cutter, some old paring knives i inherited from my mom that have never been sharpened, and some little ones from tj maxx. Moshi Moshi sharpens whatever you’ve got and does it WELL! his customer service and speed are absolutely phenomenal, and he’s a wealth of knowledge if you need some advice on things like cutting boards, knife purchases etc. (i think he sells some solid japanese knives too!) trust me when i say it’s worth the small turnaround time and money to sharpen what you’ve got laying around - you’d be SHOCKED at how dull your knives actually are. i know i was! 🤪

Ive used a few other knife sharpening services in the past, and they all got my knives past factory sharp. Michael at Moshi takes it a step further, these knives were laser sharp, ive never actually experienced knives this sharp before. Not only that, but while my knives were at his shop, he gave me a complimentary high end loaner knife, so I wasnt left without anything while he had my chef's knife. His service is fast, the results are amazing and he also has an amazing selection of high end knives for sale both new and used so even if you dont need sharpening, check him out!
