"Moshi Moshi is a very underwhelming MiMo sushi spot that’s open late. It’s not too bad inside - the sort of cozy, dim space where we could see ourselves enjoying sushi - but the food is consistently below average. You can probably get better sushi from the nearest Publix, but the reason you may end up here is that it’ll still be open at 3am when someone in your group is on the verge of throwing an absolute fit if they don’t get some sushi soon." - Ryan Pfeffer

"For late-night sushi, all roads lead to Moshi Moshi on Española Way. Is it our favorite sushi spot in town? No. But it’s open 24 hours, and it’ll do the trick if you’re craving crispy rice or a spicy tuna roll when it’s past most people’s bedtime. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and also do takeout." - Ryan Pfeffer

Do I have a new favorite sushi place? Yes, yes I do. The food is fresh and delicious. The prices are on the high side but well worth it. Service treats you like family (this is not an exaggeration). The only drawback here is seating, it's tight, not great for larger groups. If it's a hot day, try to avoid the second floor (outdoor dining is perfection). If you can get a table downstairs or sit at the sushi bar, go for it. Try to avoid at peak busy times. You must try this place if you enjoy sushi, are in the area, and want a truly delightful culinary experience.

Google
I absolutely loved my experience at Moshi Moshi! The food was incredible!!! I’m still dreaming about the Rice Bombs, the creamy Philly Roll and the Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll :3 The cozy, welcoming vibe made it such a relaxing spot to enjoy a meal, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Friendly, attentive and clearly passionate about what they do, they made the whole experience even better. If you’re craving amazing sushi and a great atmosphere, Moshi Moshi is the place to be!

Was decent, but we wouldn’t return. Vegetable don order was primarily onions, with a couple of pieces of broccoli.

First time visiting this place today, and my boyfriend and I had a great experience! Service was incredibly quick and the restaurant was quiet when we were there. The staff and chefs were very friendly. For the food: My boyfriend said that these were “the best oysters he’s had in his life” and I really enjoyed my veggie gyoza appetizer. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Hours- Saturday hours on Google are incorrect. The place shuts down from 2pm til 5 PM while the staff is getting ready for dinner crowd. This was extremely inconvenient as we had to spend money on extra parking and also try to find something else to do for few hours. Staff- The moment you walk in , you imidiately face the sushi bar and the big chef of the house, the man himself who greats you and then hits his gong with a mallet to let everyone know that you have arrived, VIP is here! I thought it was great. The male waiter welcomed us next and offered us few areas to sit down in, we wanted to stay next to the chef so we stayed downstairs at the sushi bar. (They do have main sitting area upstairs) Food- The place offers Omakase, so we went with that ONLY because the chef was very friendly. We had multiple variations of sushi and sashimi made by chef and his staff. All the foods were photographed for this review, except the eel temaki. Toro was so fat and so smooth, with a very mild fish flavor. The oysters with raw quail egg were probably my favorite, absolutely brilliant! So smooth, nothing funky, just smooth and delicious! Yellowtail was fresh tasting. Their rice in the sushi was great as well (I dont know what all these Daves and Maries complain about it) One negative thing about our experience- the woman kept on making sure we're OK with the price of Omakase after we had repeated multiple times we didnt care about the price tag we wanted the experience (so that kind of put me back in my seat for a quick minute but it's ok, or as my husband said they probably experienced some fools before and so they're trying to protect themselves against that kind of crowd) Overall, it is a great place for good quality sushi right here in DT NoHo. Prices are reasonable for normal menu items. Omakase cost us about $60 a person, and with some sake we looked at about $150 when we were done. Thank you.

Google
Honeymoon oyster was great, and I really recommend it. It’s probably a best seller here. Second best would probably be the shiitake mushrooms. However, the rest of the meal was underwhelming. It was just so-so. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst but it’s definitely just the bare minimum. Everything was overpriced in my opinion (sautéed shiitake mushrooms was $9, salmon avocado roll was $9 - we got two in the pictures, and chicken curry udon was $17). The staff was very nice and they even let our dog hang out with us since we sat outside. Our dog is kind of barky at first so I’m so glad they let him stay anyways. The food was just mid but the staff was great. I would probably return for the honeymoon oysters but that’s it.

Google
Fantastic food, fantastic service, Sam & Kim and the staff are the best! Definitely recommend the rice bombs and the honeymoon oysters and mt zilla roll 😄

Google
Best sushi in Northamton! Sit at the bar and chat with the chef while he makes your food. Bonus points if you drink sake and offer him a shot.

Yelp
Cool place! Food was great and prepared fairly quickly. Waiters were warm and friendly, as were the cooks. Nice homey atmosphere.

Mac D.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Exploding with flavor and staff is fun and very welcoming. Highly recommend

E C.

Yelp
Great sushi here ... MT Zilla Roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll and moshi moshi are some of their best sushi. Yakitori is one of their best appetizers. My only disappointment was the shrimp shumai which tastes like it was previously frozen.

Becky P.

Yelp
The place is small, but there is additional seating up a narrow windy staircase with nice view of downtown. The food was good - not the best sushi in town, but solid. The baby octopus appetizer was delicious. The service was pleasant. $98 with tip for the 3 of us - appetizer, 1 special roll, 2 veggie rolls, chicken teriyaki, and 2 sodas.

Nakia W.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in the chef behind the sushi bar greeted us with such excitement. Great start! Since it was a nice day we sat outside. Our server was quiet but friendly and answered any question we had. Food: I will first say all of the food was really good. No complaints at all. Starters: Chicken & Pork Goyza and Chicken Yakitori. Main: Ruby Roll and MT Zilla Roll Dessert: Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream

Nora W.

Yelp
Really really good food! I've been several times and only had positive experiences. The staff are super friendly. I'm so scatterbrained, I often need help figuring out how/what to order, but the waitstaff are always helpful and understanding. Whenever I eat in, the seating and atmosphere are really nice. I get the sense that the staff all know each other and like spending time together, which I love to see.

Enit S.

Yelp
Just wasn't good, and I agree with another reviewer in that it's extremely overpriced for what you're getting. Service wasn't very good either. Definitely wouldn't return.

Rachel L.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years, and can't believe I haven't posted a review yet! This is by far the best sushi bar I have dined at in Western Massachusetts. The head sushi chef, Sammy is incredibly welcoming and each time we drive here, we look forward to seeing him. The volcano roll here is one of our staple and go to plates. Other than that, you can't go wrong with the sushi and shaismi. Its the freshest that I have personally had in the area, and easily competes (and exceeds!) the other sushi restaurants in Northampton. Elite tip: Sit at the bar! Moshi Moshi is a very cozy and intimate place. You truly do not get the whole experience when you are separated from all the action.

Jaime M.

Yelp
I live locally and have seen the restaurant for many many years. I ordered through GrubHub. My salad was OK. The miso soup was a tiny portion and a bit watery. The salmon sushi was profoundly fishy tasting. I've been eating sushi my whole life and this was one of the first times I ever tasted fishy sushi. I could not eat the yellowtail either. I was very disappointed, my role was a mix of different fish and most of it was chewy. I won't be ordering from them again.

Chris G.

Yelp
Worst sushi and overpriced..for 17 bucks got a pathetic rainbow roll never again..should've tried another spot

Shane F.

Yelp
Good Asian food !! My favorite is the spicy tuna roll, But I got disappointed when I tasted their kimchi. Because it's my favorite, but I can only taste soy not kimchi, and I would like it to be only kimchi. It was super satisfying with portion and fairly price menu. Always wanted to try the Asian food after seeing many mukbang.

Yelp
What I'm looking for in a sushi restaurant: really good, really fresh fish; sushi chefs who have good technique (i.e., pieces of nigiri sushi should fit into your mouth without you having to unhinge your jaw - sushi rice prepared properly and served warm - if I'm sitting at the sushi bar, which I am, the seaweed should still be crispy when I am handed my sushi); good service (i.e., take my order, refill my water, take my next sushi order, we don't need to become best friends); clean place; nice atmosphere where I can hang out and read for a few hours. I'm going to spend $100 per visit, so I feel like it's fine if I also happen to spend a few hours at your place. Sushi Disclaimer: I do not order cooked sushi or fried sushi or sushi with sauces or "tempura flake;" I do not ever order those giant rolls or "special" rolls. I order very simple sushi. I have eaten at Moshi Moshi a number of times. I live in Central Vermont and will make the 1.5 hrs drive to Northampton JUST to have sushi at Moshi Moshi. The sushi menu is small, but what they have is fresh and prepared properly. Sushi pieces are sized/portioned appropriately and I haven't had a single thing that wasn't delicious. What I like to order at Moshi Moshi: Nigiri Sushi of Ikura, Uni, Tobiko, Masago, Sake. You get the option to add a raw quail egg yolk to your sushi and I ALWAYS do that to some of my pieces of fish roe. Then I order all that nigiri again...I mean if you're going to drive 1.5 hrs to get to a place you have to make your visit WORTH it. I also love salmon skin roll, which is, in fact, broiled salmon skin (so I guess I take back my "no cooked sushi" statement...). I order it almost as a "test" of places to see what I get. Moshi Moshi does the best salmon skin roll I've had; crunchy, warm, delicious, NOT covered in freaking eel sauce. The place is small and in the winter it's FREEZING. Like legit freezing. So wear layers (when your waitress is wearing a full wool hat that is a sign...). But it's clean and welcoming and bright and all the staff is friendly and clearly take pride in their work. If you want sushi in Northampton go to Moshi Moshi.

Yelp
Nice little sushi shop serving fresh and innovative cuisine. I started with a miso soup which had a very intense miso flavor which was better than many other offerings I have sampled. I also had a seaweed salad which was a touch too sweet for me. I opted for two orders of the Honeymoon Oysters ($6.95 for 2) which were freshly shucked east oysters topped with tobiko, uni, quail egg and a touch of ponzu. The unctuousness of the uni and egg was cut by the acidity of the ponzu and you were still able to taste the brininess of the oyster. A very well composed appetizer. I also had an order of uni sushi which was very fresh and a Northampton roll which consisted of salmon, yellow tail, avocado and some micro greens. The roll was also very fresh and flavorful. Service was very attentive and prices were reasonable.

Yelp
If you like to pay $28 for tiny randomly cut pieces of sashimi including, but not limited to, fake crab meat, miss-shaped salmon end pieces, and incomplete tuna chunks and have to pay an extra $3.50 for a bowl of mushy over-cooked rice because it's not included then this is just the place for you. Lets talk about the rice. The technique of preparing rice correctly is the staple of any sushi restaurant. Not just good sushi restaurants. ANY sushi restaurant. This place didn't even use sushi rice. They used mushy, and I mean extremely mushy, over-cooked jasmine rice. Just plain awful and inexcusable. I actually really feel bad for all the people that are giving five star reviews because I know they don't really have anything much better to compare to. Bottom line: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Go get a slice of pizza or a bagel or anything else but don't eat here.

Dyan U.

Yelp
Visiting Northhampton and happened upon this incredibly intimate sushi restaurant. The welcome greeting is heartfelt and almost everyone walking in is a regular who is so excited to return. The sushi was delicious and special. If you're around here - pay Moshi Moshi a visit.

Theo B.

Yelp
I love this place because it feels like a real place run by real people. Like the chef choice roll is always something interesting the chef thought up. Right now I'm eating something that is spicy but in a way I'm not used to. It has an earthy fish flavor. Anyway it's great and not boring. Also the music I'm listening to here is Nina Simone, Barry White and The Platters. Anyway I love this place. No boring rolls, no bullshit Japanese music in the background. It's a real place run by real people who like what they do. I can't say this about many places.

Yelp
Have I really not done a yelp review for Moshi Moshi yet? Surprising, I eat here when I can afford it and enjoy it every time. Staff: extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and attentive. The owner Sam is a charming and energetic character. He greets everyone as they come in and always remembers repeat visitors. Makes everyone feel very welcome. Venue: it's small, on a busy night a reservation is a good idea with a party. It is well done and cozy/friendly feeling I think despite the small size. The upstairs holds larger parties OK. I usually go with 2-3 and sit at the sushi bar. But have totally gone with 6-8 upstairs with no issue. Food: Superb quality. The prices are definitely not the lowest around but the fish and veggies are always extremely fresh and tasty. Sam is a master of pairing interesting flavors. I love his use of shiso(sp?) leaves in rolls for a hint of citrus flavor. Sit at the bar for a small free seaweed salad.

Yelp
The sushi guy is super friendly and welcoming when you walk in, but that's one of the few good things about this place. Moshi Moshi is super pricey for the tiny portions you get. Unlike other -- and yet *cheaper* -- Japanese restaurants, there is no complimentary miso soup and salad here. Why so skimpy, especially when the entrees are about $20? I ordered the chicken teriyaki and asked to substitute brown for white rice. The waiter said sure, we can do that. He (and the menu) failed to mention that such a swap would cost an additional $3.50, a ridiculously high price for a single serving of brown rice in place of white. Other Japanese places typically can sub brown rice for only $1. Furthermore, you can get a whole other side order of brown rice for $3.50! We love an unreasonable, overpriced meal. The food itself was alright. Definitely not $19 + $3.50 worth, though. The portion sizes were also pretty tiny; there was barely any chicken in the don buri. In short, do your bank account a favor, and pick a place with normal, reasonable prices.

Andreas G.

Yelp
Just not very good sushi. Overpriced and very mediocre food. Unpleasant surroundings and a bit cold inside.

Rachael J.

Yelp
Great atmosphere staff and quality of food. I go for the sushi. Yum! Got delivery during the pandemic and it was early. Great service! Definitely recommend if you like sushi. Can't wait to be able to eat in person.

Alexandria L.

Yelp
Went on a first date here. Cute space. We ate upstairs and were the only ones (early dinner). Service was fast, the server was knowledgable and kind. The fish was fresh and delicious but incredibly overpriced. I will most likely go back but will surely try other sushi nearby beforehand.

Kelly M.

Yelp
I'm so not impressed. The veggie donburi had no egg in it, the agedashi tofu and the accompanying dip was flavorless, and they played reggae music the entire time (Pass the Dutchie, seriously?!) I would expect this sort of thing from a take out but not a dine-in with matching high prices. The saving grace was the sushi. Ok I originally marked it a 2 star but my dining partner says it's a 3. I don't agree but there we are.

Marsha N.

Yelp
I like the crazy spiral staircase that takes you up to the 2nd floor dining area. Our server was nice. The katsudon had way too many onions in the sautéed veggie layer. I was expecting a mix of veggies but it was 80% onions and 4 broccoli florets. My friend got fried rice and also was disappointed at how much space was taken up on her plate by onions.

Seth L.

Yelp
Great service, cool ambience (love the sushi bar especially) and always amazing food. Creative menu with tons of options for everyone. The noodle dishes are fresh and delicious, the sushi is top shelf and the appetizer list is a menu of its own. We had the beef yakisoba, wasabi shumai, couple of basic rolls along with the caterpillar and another roll topped with mango all were great and had a nice balance of spice and flavor.

Jolene R.

Yelp
We got some apps and some drinks. Nice guy waiter. Super nice and warmed up once I warmed up to him. The only complaint I had was the woman only came at the end to clear our stuff and felt like she was rushing us. I can understand a big crowd but there wasn't. Still very good we got the dumplings and steak tariki.

Lauren K.

Yelp
Really excellent sushi. We came here and split a few rolls including the moshi moshi roll, a speciality dragon roll, various sashimi, and more. Everything was indisputably fresh and extremely well-created. They clearly have sushi chefs that know what they are doing, which I absolutely appreciate. Sushi is my favorite food on earth! The physical sushi is 4/5 stars. But my issue with this restaurant is the accessibility, which makes me on the fence about giving 2 or 3 stars, something I rarely do. But I think this is important. Its not very handicap friendly. In theory, it probably *is* handicap friendly, because I would hope the state of Massachusetts in theory monitors that, but 3/4 of the seating is upstairs, only accessible by a narrow and deep spiral staircase that is very difficult to maneuver. We asked the gal if there was an elevator, to which she said no. Once we finally got upstairs, the chairs were part fold-up chairs, which I found so odd. It reminded me of the fold-up chairs in gyms at PTA meetings... very difficult to sit in (see photo below). On our way out, there was a second floor emergency exit door that the server was able to let us out of, but we had to awkwardly stand amongst a tight space and wait a few minutes for someone to come unlock it. I was grateful for that, but could tell its something they don't do often. Moshi Moshi is built onto a hill, so the second floor emergency exit door actually lets you out flatly on land. Ergonomically, Moshi Moshi is not a place I recommend if anyone in your party needs solid or accessible seating. I would opt for takeout. Otherwise, you won't be disappointed with the sushi.

Tara S.

Yelp
Ugh. Don't go here. Pros: cute atmosphere and the waiter seemed to be knowledgeable...cons, bad quality fish, sour-tasting soy sauce (spoiled? Is that possible?) and slow, bad service. Food was horrific!!! Really bad. Paid for one portion of toro ($$$) and it was a couple of days old. Extreme fishy smell on the rolls. Greasy tempura that isn't even in a tempura batter. Seemed frozen. Unfortunately Northampton has a lot of Asian places and none of them are good. Osaka is okay for sushi sometimes (also have had old fish there) but the service is horrible and they rush you in and out. Better to save your sushi dollars for somewhere outside of the pioneer valley. Also three of us and a $119 check for really bad food. Would have been reasonable had any of it been decent.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
First let me just say, I have eaten at Moshi Moshi for years and tend to always end up there when I'm back in town visiting friends and family (I live in NYC now). Sam is always there and has an uncanny ability to remember me and my name every time I walk in - talk about personalized service! Be sure to check out their daily specials and some of the best finds are on that menu. One thing that can usually be made but sometimes isn't listed is a gem made by Sam's wife (sorry her name escapes me at the moment) called the kimchi pancake. It is similar to a scallion pancake yet orange in color and has the spice that you think of when eating the Korean side dish, kimchi. Tasty! Also the oyster appetizers traditionally served with ponzu sauce and scallion are wonderful. If you are daring for a bit more adventure in your oyster eating, have the kind topped with the sauce PLUS a quail egg and uni (sea urchin). Talk about decadent! I made a special request of our waiter, Karl, who was happy to see if Sam would be willing to oblige. Something that has become a trend at a few top NYC sushi bars is to make a sushi piece consisting of equal parts uni, quail egg and ikura (salmon roe). In NYC it is usually referred to as the "XXX" piece because it is obscenely creamy and delightful. Karl asked, Sam created, and low and behold the newly coined "LLL" pieces (my name is Lindsey thus the "L") came to me as tasty as ever. Sweet of both Sam and of Karl to help make that happen. I suggest going with some of their stand by house special rolls as they don't skimp on the fish and have interesting combinations to offer. All in all, don't miss Moshi Moshi if you are traveling through Northampton. I still think they reign supreme in the world of fresh, raw fish and seafood.

Shaul P.

Yelp
Moshi Moshi's secret weapon - SAM I am, the head chef. Consistently the best sushi we get and we've traveled around but keep coming back for 7 years worth of sushi Tuesday's. The most personable sushi chef and staff that is always equally friendly and happy to serve. The menu is both Unique, and always changing with new things to try. The spice crunchy handrolls are definitely the signature of Moshi, but we go back for creative delicious sushi and sashimi. Some Korean, vegetarian or even meat dishes are available to the non sushi eater. Food is always a treat here, definitely a great place for every occasion!

Cherry H.

Yelp
Tasty sushi roll, especially the caterpillar roll. The Kimchi Udon is nice but could be more spicy. The other udons (such as the Nabe**** Udon) are pretty authentic also. First-class service of good-mannered waiter, as interior decor and lighting are stylish and cozy. Recommended for having family weekend dinner.

Samalid H.

Yelp
Would you like to know why this is my favorite sushi place? First of all, you are greeted by the owner as soon as you walk in the door (yes, I did say the owner). The greeting is a happy "bong" and "welcome to Moshi Moshi!". You enter through the sushi bar; dining room is upstairs. The place is homey, clean, and the aroma from the cooking is great (assuming you love the food I love). The staff is friendly and if you have any issues, just say hi to the owner and he will be sure to make things right. This is a family-owned Business and photos of his kids are humbly presented in a corner of the sushi bar. BUT THE BEST THING ABOUNT THIS PLACE, is that the FOOD IS GREAT! Try it out.

Craig F.

Yelp
Probably the best sushi I have ever eaten. I was at other sushi restaurants and just wished that I was here. I highly recommend the Mt.Zilla roll. I believe it is an exclusive roll here that you cannot get anywhere else. I am very picky about my sushi and this place bested all expectations. The staff is extremely family friendly and they ring a gong whenever you enter which makes you feel like you are apart of the culture. 10/10 would eat again

Allen C.

Yelp
Been here a dozen times at least in the time I've been in western Mass. Sam, the owner, is always cheery and friendly to customers. I haven't been disappointed by him a single time. Sam I Am rolls are the way to go. I get something different every time and his ideas and creations are always spot on. The other rolls are also great fare. MT Zilla, Universe Roll, and the Salmon Belly sushi are my favorites. Always a happy customer

Jim B.

Yelp
Not sure I'd return here. Pros: Sushi tasted relatively fresh. Innovative flavor combo for the Honeymoon oyster appetizer. My dining partner's beef dish had solid, complex flavor. Sammy the chef is friendly - especially to the regulars whose chopsticks hang about the room in special cases. Cons: Special rolls are about 2/3 the size of typical sushi houses. Oysters on the Honeymoon appetizer were TINY. But prices didn't reflect the size. Tobiko tasted a little off. Atmosphere? Not really. And the "service" from the matron-in-charge....? There's a reason I'm using quote marks.

Sarah O.

Yelp
Popped in looking for a family friendly sushi place while back in town for the weekend and had a great experience. Good food, great service. While we had to sit upstairs (there's a fairly terrifying circular stair leading up), it gave the kids room to spread out a little, even during the start of dinner hours on a Saturday night. Service was quick and attentive, and they even made off-menu chicken tempura for our picky little ones with a smile. My husband got sushi regular, and I got some spicy rolls, and a California roll to share with our toddler. Everything was fresh and tasty. While it didn't compare with the top sushi places we have been to, this was very good and would be a great hometown sushi joint with reasonable prices and quick service.

Pat L.

Yelp
This is the best place for sushi outside of NYC/BOS. I think I've tried every place and while we're blessed with quite a few great sushi restaurants in western mass, this place takes the cake. Awesome service. The wait staff is very approachable and offered countless suggestions as we were very curious about some of their unique dishes. The chefs are great. Talking with us and being like old friends. Appetizers are EXCELLENT. The rice bombs which were a deep fried rice with a spicy tuna on top are a must. The honeymoon special is wonderful. The softshell crab is the best I've had in the area. There are a ton more to try as well. The sushi is plentiful and they cater to what you suggest and prefer. We had a few rolls which I wish I had pictures of and will get the next time I go. If you like sushi, moshi moshi will make you a roll you've dreamed about. Atmosphere is what makes this place. Another reviewer complained about "reggae" music. Which was playing and to be honest - it fit. What stands out the most for me as a newcomer to this restaurant is how friendly not only the staff and chefs are, but the other customers. We sat down next to a group of regulars, and then a table behind us filled up with more regulars. It felt like hanging out at a party eating with a bunch of your friends. I'm going to be back - and I'm going to bring friends. This place is a treasure and easily my favorite place in the area that won't run you $150 a visit.

Emily K.

Yelp
Their crunchy spicy tuna hand roll may very well be my favorite food item of all time. Never disappoints. So happy to support Moshi Moshi. Especially during the pandemic.

T H.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a party of 6 on a Thursday night around 7 p.m. Was immediately seated on the second floor. The first floor has a sushi bar and is quite small along with outside seating. The second floor has a good amount of seating, but be prepared to go up a narrow staircase. Ordered two sushi rolls, the Northampton Roll - tuna and salmon - was small - not worth the price, but it was tasty. The other was the MT Zella roll and it was a nicely presented, good portions and packed with meat - shrimp tempura, spicy tuna and eel. For dinner, I had the shrimp tempura. Entrees included a bowl of miso soup - which was good. In the main dish, the shrimp was not the traditional shrimp tempura - it reminded me of fried shrimp instead of tempura style. Along with tempura came tempura broccoli, mushrooms, onions and a potato along with white rice. Others in the party had the grilled salmon, which they spoke positively about and another teriyaki chicken, which was prepared simply - nothing special. Overall, this is not your traditional Japanese food - more Americanized, maybe to fit the tastes of the area. However, being a visitor accustomed to Japanese food - do not come expecting authentic Japanese food. It also seemed like they had a few Korean dishes as well. Sushi prices are about average, but the entree prices in my opinion were a bit high for the amount of food that was served.

Alex B.

Yelp
WOW. First time going and I can honestly say I've never been to a sushi place like this. First off, everyone was extremely welcoming and the sushi chef was hilarious. But seriously the sushi is crazy. The rolls works of art. I got MT Zilla and the Sam I am roll which I can't recommend enough, but really, get anything, it all looked delicious

Lauri Y.

Yelp
looking for a great sushi experience in Northampton? You can't go wrong at Moshi Moshi. From the moment you walk in the door and are enthusiastically greeted by Sam behind the sushi bar, you will know you are in a unique place. Be prepared for a big shout-out, and maybe even a bang on the gong. (if you don't get that and want it, you can simply ask!) The food you have will be fresh and special. I generally stick with maki, sashimi and sushi, because that's what they do best, but the donburri bowls are pretty awesome as well. Feeling adventurous? Be sure to have a Sam I Am roll (Sam makes the choice and creates something incredible and unique) -- the cost of a Sam I Am might seem a bit daunting, but I have never regretted spending for something awesome, which is what you will get. Try the rice bombs, you will thank me.

Yelp
This place is bomb. A little pricy but you get bang for your buck. The spicy crunchy tuna has excess crunchy tuna over flowing from the top and the volcano roll has an awesome portion and crunch. The caterpillar roll looks like the caterpillar from the children's book! Awesome service and cute upstairs. DELICIOUS FOOD! Awesome find!

Yelp
My fav sushi spot! We always hit up this awesome spot before a show at Pearl St. or the Iron Horse. We usually sit at the sushi bar and watch them work their magic! Low maintenance and just plain awesome goodness!

Yelp
Place was a little cramped. Went to the restroom and I thought I was in a closet. The price was ridiculous. literally came in to grab a beer with a buddy. 2 beers and 2 apps. $42. Plus tip... it was about $50 I shoulda double checked the bill. :/

Yelp
I've always enjoyed both the service and my food here. So far I've enjoyed the Nabeyaki Udon, Tempura Udon, Chicken Yakisoba, crunchy spicy tuna hand roll, and the Philadelphia hand roll. Recently they've been serving free hot tea with meals and it keeps me happy and warm. Moshi Moshi is a bit pricier and smaller portions than I would like (and smaller portions than Osaka) but I would rather give my business to Moshi Moshi than Osaka. Hoping to sit at the sushi bar one day when it's less packed... Comments for menu items: Nabeyaki Udon - the udon was delicious for the most part, but the poached egg was disappointing as it was throughly cooked and there was no gooey inside. I would even go so far to say the poached egg was over-boiled and dry. Tempura Udon - delicious tempura but I wish they wouldn't put the tempura directly in the soup. It gets soggy the longer you wait. Chicken Yakisoba - was in general good, but a little under seasoned Hand rolls: Crunchy spicy tuna hand roll - lovely crunch and texture, especially the first bite through the seaweed Philadelphia hand roll - good balance of salmon and cream cheese Pickled ginger was disappointing as it wasn't very flavorful... Note: 2 hand rolls isn't filling enough so order more!

Yelp
Sorry but this place should be called mushy mushy just how my sashimi was. Funny when I clicked on directions there was a cemetery in bold letters right above this is right where my sushi n sashimi belonged. Our sushi looked horrible for starters like they didn't give a care about presentation but gave it a shot, only it tasted worst than it looked!' Sorry had to hurl! Now residing in NYC and Growing up on the California coast , yes I'm spoiled but know my sashimi and sushi and this resembled neither. Sad to see that people may actually think this is top notch sushi. My suggestion -venture outside this sushi joint and don't look back !!!

Yelp
My friend thought that Moshi Moshi was given with the Tablets at Mount Sinai, oh so good - you will see. So we freed up a night got my best sneakers on, got all fired up and went for the Sushi of our lives. The place was half full but "..No you can not seat at the bar " No problem - we set at a table and ordered Omakasa, give us your best shot. The sushi was Ok - eatable. The service lady gave me the feeling that she is too comfortable in her position. The Chef though was nice. At the end the experience was mediocre the bill was not. Would I go back? Probably not - can not be compared to the Master Chef not for quality nor for cost.

Yelp
I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed the food. The sushi chefs are friendly. The last time I went the waitresses were a bit quirky and hovered too much. I hate feeling rushed when out at a restaurant. My favorite sushi wasn't on the menu but it came with kiwi so I'm hoping it was out of season and will return again

Yelp
Been here a couple of times when in Northampton. Staff is friendly, the menu selection is really good (quite something when you consider the fresh fish comes from a distance), as is the beer and Saki. We're repeat customers.

Yelp
Definitely the best sushi in Northampton (heads above Osaka). But still not GREAT sushi. Probably three-star sushi, but it gets an extra star for the nice atmosphere and the fact that it's the best sushi game in town. Quite expensive, but pretty fresh fish and a nice selection of rolls. Fun to get the chef's special.
