Where to Eat the Best Takeout on Galveston Island for Labor Day Weekend | Eater Houston

"A cozy spot in a historic home serving comfort-forward plates such as loaded corn cakes, grilled shrimp cocktail, pastas, and a signature Turkey Divinity sandwich with grilled apples, smoked brie, bacon and oven-roasted turkey on a baguette. The cafe also sells grocery items like croissants, deli meats, cheese and house-roasted coffee, with ordering available through Grubhub." - Brittanie Shey

Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, Galveston Restaurants Struggle to Stay Alive | Eater Houston

"At Mosquito Cafe, James Clark—who is president of the Galveston Restaurant Association and the director of operations and managing partner of the cafe—has put grocery-ordering practices into place, allowing customers to place orders online for uncooked meats, eggs, fruits, vegetables, dry pastas, rices, salad kits, and meal kits to help support the restaurants and give the community a safer pick-up option." - Brandon Summers-Miller

When we first entered, we were greeted by Turtle and he told us how the restaurant worked. We ordered our food and we were not disappointed. Very yummy breakfast. I had the bacon omelette and there was plenty to go around. The fresh fruit was delicious. Nice strong coffee. Don’t be thrown off by the name of this place. The food is 10/10

Great home cooked food! Food was perfect. Service was great, the only thing that is a little strange is having to order at the cash register then have to find a table.

My goodness the food was absolutely killer! The atmosphere was quite fantastic, but also very crowded, but for good reason! I had the Nancy bet c, and it was so creamy, delicious, and incredibly flavorful! I would highly recommend it as a breakfast / lunch diner location with a lot of options, even including delicious looking pastries!

One of the best spots for breakfast on the island. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The grits aren’t your typical southern grits, but they’re still good. We love the self serve coffee station and art on walls. Your mom and aunts will love this place.

We’ve been here twice. The first time it was great but the second time was definitely a let down. Over $50 for two omelettes, juice and coffee is ridiculously over priced. The older woman (cashier) needs to work on her service. If someone ask and has no problem paying additional for add ons. Don’t say no and don’t make it an issue. We eat out a lot and we’ve never encountered no established restaurant, food truck or any place that says they cannot add on additional toppings. This experience was super strange. She blamed that it was super busy but the restaurant was not even a 1/4 full. (4-5 tables with people only) We won’t be back and will try the restaurant is just a few blocks down that was packed.

First time experience. Food was delicious. Great menu options, GF for those who need it. Had the breakfast bowl, Turkey burger and some pancakes! Some really good desserts, but didn’t partake. Neat place, friendly staff and clean. You will be satisfied at the Mosquito Cafe!

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday and the place was PACKED. I'd wager that speaks to consistent quality that people enjoy. The menu was fairly carb heavy, but there were appealing options. The prices are higher than I'd expect, but it is what it is. I paid just over $100 for a group of four (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 kid). The service was solid. Lots of smiling faces and positive attitudes. They got the food out quickly too. The venue feels small and cramped when a lot of people are there, but they also have outside seating. If you sit outside be mindful of flies. I don't think I'd go back to this place, given the prices, but it was worth the shot.

The breakfast here is amazing! I had the Bacon Cheddar omelet, and it was prepared to perfection! The bacon was crisp, the eggs light and perfectly cooked, just enough cheese to make the meal! Potatoes were diced and had just the right amount of crunch. Restaurant was clean and well layer out. Great service with a friendly smile! A must visit when in Galveston.
