What a magnificent home! Every room was a delight to see. The eclectic furnishings was so much fun to see! The house was on the cutting edge of technology. The bathrooms were wired with electric curling iron heaters for the ladies of the house!! You never knew what country, let alone the continent, would greet you from the next room. The house is immaculately cared for and preserved. The yard, gardens too were a joy to walk through. I was amazed that Mr Moss was into everything from banks to irrigation, to utilities bring hot water heat to the city . He was creative and brilliant with an eye toward the future. Yes, he thought of himself and his family, but he also created a better life for his fellow Billings citizens. If you visit Billings, the Moss Mansion is a must-see!

Very cool, they have information plaques in every room. It is definitely one of the more unique homes I've been in. Every room on the first floor is a different style. The people who work there are very helpful and kind. It is well maintained inside and out.

This is the mansion of PB and Maddie Moss, PB is one of the founders and early business leaders. Their mansion has been restored to its original early 20th century splendor. I have been to several house restorations. This is one of the best. It can be compared to the Frick Mansion in NY. The house is well worth a visit. There is a 15 minute video that is a good introduction to the family and the house. If you are in a hurry you can skip it.

Google
This place is by far the best place and my most favorite place here in Billings, MT! I would definitely go back. The mansion, the staff, the service, the shop, the tour guide, all of them are splendid! Not mention the mansion's history. It's pretty impressive! I went there during Christmas season and they did a pretty good work on the Christmas decorations! How beautiful!

What an experience. Like stepping into a time capsule. The guided tour is a must! Joel was our guide; he is charming, knowledgeable, and a history buff like us. Don't miss this place if you visit Billings.

Google
What an absolutely beautiful time of year to have visited this piece of Montana history. The guided tour is the way to go as it's well put together, elegantly paced, with the guide being able to answer any and all questions thrown their way. The gift shop is quaint with a selection of Moss Mansion specific items along with gifts and souvenirs from locally sourced materials or small businesses. Upon a giggle infused silly inquiry, it was discovered they do indeed host weddings. This just only added to the delight of my visit. The staff and the grounds are a chef's kiss level of excellent. If you are passing through Billings, a Moss Mansion visit is a MUST on anyone's list.

I’ve been visiting the Moss Mansion, a treasured historical landmark in my hometown, since I was a kid. Every visit feels just as special as the first. The mansion is filled with rich history, stunning architecture, and fascinating stories that bring the past to life. It’s beautifully preserved and offers a glimpse into a different time. I truly love going and will continue to visit for years to come. I highly recommend it to anyone, whether you’re a local or just passing through. It’s worth experiencing.

Google
I have so many good things to say about Moss Mansion. If you like history and old fashioned houses this is the place for you. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and if you decide to do a self guided tour there is still a lot of information available for you to read. They have guided and self guided tours, but I would highly recommend doing a guided tour if possible. Everyone who works there seems very knowledgeable and pleasant. Will definitely be going back. I came here a 2nd time closer to Christmas and the decorations were stunning!! Now just need to go back for Halloween. There is a stunning and beautifully old library and while on our second visit the guide showed us a signed Mark Twain Book! I was floored. It’s very old and fragile so they don’t pull it out very often so I was definitely honored to be able to see it. Picture in this review.

Yelp
Such a fascinating experience. The Moss history and stories were interesting, so much to learn, but not enough time. The family definitely left a mark in Billings, although they weren't originally from Montana, their mansion design, architecture, and layout, was created through the use of a combination of studies within different cultures. That's present in the woodwork, tapestries, artwork on the wall and so much more. It's a work of art in itself, a beautifully executed masterpiece. When you walk through, you can somewhat imagine what it must have looked like then, without asphalt streets and driveways- staff were also really sweet and shared more stories during the walk through as well. They also have a cute little gift shop upon entering, first floor. Bought a few little items. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful with amazing history for Billings. My son and his wife were married in the Conservatory. With all the beautiful flowers we didn't need to do anything more.

Yelp
This was an amazing tour. Bill had so much knowledge and was able to share many stories about the family. This is a true time capsule of a place. This is absolutely a must when visiting Billings MT.

Yelp
The guided tour was personalized and thorough. Larry was very knowledgeable! It was a treat to attend at the holidays and enjoy the trees.

Yelp
What a beautiful house! We came here due to amazing pictures from instrammers. We were not disappointed. They give you a 15 min video regarding the Moss family. You can opt out but I recommend watching, it's amazing how influential the Moss family was in building Billings. The house is huge and hyper-photogenic. They say the landing is haunted, I didn't feel anything but maybe you will. They charge $12 for adults or $15 per person for a guided. We did the $12 and we learned so much that we didn't miss anything. We will definitely be back to Moss mansion to take more pictures and see the grounds in various seasons.

Yelp
Tour Guide Bill was very knowledgeable and added great stories. We loved the history of the family. What a great gift the family is sharing with us. Thank you to all the volunteers that make this historic landmark so wonderful.

Yelp
While it's not my favorite historical site or tour ever, it is pretty nice for Billings. I think we came at a bad time because lots of renovations or maintenance seemed to be going on. The story behind the Moss family is very interesting and in my opinion, has a slightly sad ending. It may be worth looking up before you visit so you can focus on the interesting things in the house and not so much to story behind. It often annoys me when know-it-all historians or tour guides get information wrong. While this is certainly small, there were some Jewish items in the house. I am unsure why as it was not clarified if the Moss family was Jewish or not (I'll be googling that in a moment). Anyway, the tour guide incorrectly referred to the Channukiyah as a Menorah. (Menorah is what was in the old temples, has 7 branches instead of 9). While a common mistake in the US, the tour guide came off a bit as a know-it-all, so it was interesting to catch incorrect moments. Tip: You are not allowed to take photographs inside (totally lame and just another reason this isn't a 5 star place) so take all your photos out front before or after.

Yelp
Website says, "kindly request you wear a mask." That's incorrect. We were denied entry despite easily being able to maintain 6' distancing because we would not wear a mask. Website needs to change to, "MASKS REQUIRED!" Despite no mask mandate in the state of Montana

Yelp
The mansion is stunning. Watch the video first and then wander the house. Just about everything is original which gives you a wonderful view into the Moss family life. The owner, PB Moss, was an amazing man - a true entrepreneur. The craftsmanship is perfect. Everything is so beautiful. So glad we stopped in.

Yelp
We enjoyed out tour of Moss Mansion. It's quite beautiful and the the history is very interesting. The original furnishings really make it amazing!

Yelp
It was interesting and an easy way to Kill a few minutes in Billings. Unfortunately the cost is far greater then the reward. The place takes about 20 minutes to walk through and there is a short video about the family. This cost us around 70 dollars Canadian for our family of 4 . Typically this should be a 20 to 30 dollar outing in most places. I could not recommend it at this price.

Yelp
Spending a day in Billings for the first time, we noticed the Moss Mansion in our tour book. At first we thought about skipping it but we're so glad we didn't. It's important to view the video downstairs first - to grasp who PB Moss was and how he was such an important figure in the development of Billings. The artifacts in each room and the amazing architecture by the same person who designed the Waldorf might help explain the magnificence of it and how ahead of the times it was. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering questions. Very interesting.

Yelp
Great Museum. Loved the original furnishings and the staff were amazingly nice and helpful. I highly recommend visiting this historic home if you enjoy great homes made into museums. Would be a cool venue for a private event....

Yelp
History on the west coast and mid west is very different from the east coast. If you are in Billings, check this place out. I've toured it on Halloween,Christmas, had tea in the formal dining room and even experienced a wedding here. The staff is always plesant and are really informative. Experience true elegance from an era long gone. Even the gardens are phenominal. Warning: if you go during the summer the house will be really warm as they have no AC but that's the best time to view the grounds.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. Arrived with not much time before it was closing. And was not made to feel rushed. Beautiful mansion with lots of history. So glad we took the time!!

Yelp
We had our wedding reception at the Moss Mansion in July and it was absolutely the perfect location. I am a sucker for history and Moss has always been kind of special to my mother and me as it has been walking distance from my home my entire life. It is absolutely gorgeous with the mansion and all the blooming flowers in the garden, and around the grounds. Marlene McCave is their event coordinator and she was FABULOUS! She was in touch with me throughout the whole process and was so helpful and flexible. We truly had the most perfect wedding reception here and I would definitely recommend Moss as a wedding venue.

Yelp
Beautiful preserved museum and they were having a tea party outside. Quick thing to do in Billings.

Yelp
We were traveling this summer with a goal of seeing several historic home museums along the way. The Moss museum was one of our top two. Not only is the facility in wonderful original condition, right down to the antique flocked wall papers, but it includes most of the original family furniture. The house has both self and docent guided tours. We chose the self guided with a very knowledgeable docent available nearby. If you have some background with Victorian and turn of the century decor take your time and enjoy all the details. If you enjoy Victorian and house museums put this mansion near the top of your list. Access is relatively easy and the house sits in a great Victorian residential neighborhood. We spent another 30-40 minutes walking the neighborhood. Definitely one of the best in the West.

Yelp
Interesting bit of culture for Our Town. The tour guide was entertaining. The place itself was kinda neat-oh. I especially enjoyed the "original" microwave, washing machine/dryer, gingerbread men and biscuits. Haaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaa!!

Yelp
Beautiful home with many original furniture which you do not see in old mansion. Unfortunately you can't take photos inside of beautiful woodwork and architecture. That is why 3 Star. I have been in many mansions and some let you take non flash photography which I love to show my grandchildren.

Yelp
If you love visiting historical homes, you'll love this home. The garden around the home is very lovely, large trees, grassy area and flowers. The home is beautiful inside, dark imported wood is used frequently, Moroccan influence, a gorgeous home of a very well to do family. The tour guide was very good, not too wordy, not too brief. I learned several things about the time period I didn't know. Hair was collected from one's brush, and kept in little glass containers, and when enough was collected it was sent to a wig maker and hair extensions were made. Don't miss this wonderful home if you're in Billings, Montana.

Yelp
Very impressive piece of history. I enjoyed the tour and our guide. Seeing the mansion is well worth the time and the 7 dollars. One of Billings' best attractions. Any person mildly interested in history will enjoy the tour.
