The 2024 Eater Houston Holiday Gift Guide - Eater Houston

"Mostly Chocolate’s head chocolatier Dany Kamkhagi teamed up with restaurant Bludorn for one of the most fire collaborations of the year, literally. Treat your loved one to a box of this Houston sweet shop’s decadent spicy cinnamon roll chocolates, which are made with cream cheese and cinnamon ganache infused with Bludorn hot sauce and layered with a cookie crust. Gift-givers can also introduce chocolate fans to other types of sweets, including the viral crispy Knafeh bar." - Brittany Britto Garley

If you’re a chocolate lover, stepping into Mostly feels like walking into a dream. This charming little shop is a haven of artisan craftsmanship, where every piece of chocolate is made by hand with an obvious passion for quality and flavor. The selection is both classic and inventive—hazelnuts & poprocks, black truffle honey, whiskey & tequila 2.0., and seasonal specialties like almond pistachio, grand marnier, and cereal milk. Each piece is beautifully presented, and you can tell they take real pride in both the flavor and the artistry. What truly sets Mostly apart is the experience. The staff are warm, knowledgeable, and eager to share the story behind each creation. Whether you’re picking up a gift or treating yourself, Mostly is a sweet escape worth savoring. Five stars all around.

This is truly such a fantastic chocolate shop! Ina huge city such as Houston it’s always nice to find a nice, small, local shop. The service is so welcoming and warm, and their chocolate - decadent. They have a variety of flavors and each one is incredible! This makes a perfect gift for someone or if you just have a sweet tooth and want to try something new. Not only is the chocolate yummy, it’s beautiful 😍

If you’re looking for a birthday present, anniversary present, wedding presents or just because presents you cannot go wrong with mostly chocolate. I was gifted a 16 piece assorted chocolate box for my birthday recently and was blown away with the quality of these bonbons. These are the most beautiful chocolates I have ever been given. I loved them so much I even went and visited the location to see the chocolates for myself. They have chocolate making classes on the weekends and I would love to do one soon. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. I met the owners and they are just phenomenal. I had a wonderful experience not only receiving a gift from this special chocolate company but now definitely becoming a normal customer. Highly highly recommend the salted caramel and the pop rocks is always a fun experience in my mouth.

Stopped to get a box of chocolate and was amazed by the assortment they offer. Their chocolates are a delightful journey of flavors! They offer a range of uniquely creative flavors that are absolutely delicious. What’s even better is the owner’s warm and welcoming personality, which added to the overall experience. And if you’re a true chocolate enthusiast, don’t miss their fantastic private chocolate-making sessions – they’re a must-try!

Google
I only found this place by pure chance while looking at the Houston subreddit pages for places that sell hazelnut ginaduja. Dany, the owner, helped me out right away and made a lot of really excellent recommendations for me. He’s incredible and he definitely knows his chocolate! How is the chocolate itself? Simply amazing. I have never tasted anything this delicious before.

I am a lover of bon bons, and every now and then I like to go out and try chocolate bon bons. Mostly Chocolate & Catering is tucked away on N Post Oak Rd and offers a large selection of chocolate bon bons and a variety of other chocolates and snacks. They have so many options of bonbons, which look like pieces of art, and it was so difficult choosing flavors because they all looked so good. The business is family-owned, and they were super nice and very knowledgeable of the stuff they were selling and also recommended some great flavors. They will also let you try one flavor of choice! I got the hazelnut and pop rocks, s’mores, Keylime pie, tea and cookies passionfruit, toasted coconut, macadamia crunch, salted caramel, house praline, bailey’s Irish cream, almond toffee crunch, and coffee and cardamom. Some of their flavors were very unique, and I think they won an award for the poprocks one. It was very hard choosing a favorite, but I think my top flavors are the toasted coconut, Keylime pie, and passionfruit. Everything just tasted delicious! Overall, I think this a one of the best chocolate bon bon places in Houston!

Google
If you want a life changing experience, try their bonbons. First off, the bonbons look stunning….almost too pretty to eat. But the moment you take a bite, the thin shell gives way to the creamiest, most flavorful fillings you can imagine. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried every flavor they offer. Each one is perfectly delicious. These things are ADDICTING and you will have zero self control after one bite. You will eat the entire box in one sitting and have no regrets. I don’t know what kind of magic they put into these, but your taste buds and your happy hormones will thank you!

Google
A small group of us (4) did the chocolate class here, and it was such a wonderful experience. The owner/instructor was so knowledgeable, passionate, and super fun. It was a great event, and we got to take home a lot of delicious --- and beautiful --- chocolates. There are classics such as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and salted caramel, but we were really pleasantly surprised by the goat cheese and honey lavender. These chocolates would make a gorgeous birthday gift for friends and family.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite chocolate shop. They are so friendly and kind and I have so many delicious and unique flavors. My favorite flavors include the goat cheese, passionfruit, Baileys Irish cream, hazelnut and pop rocks, macadamia cookie , house praline and key lime pie. I will definitely return and we strongly recommend.

Yelp
I almost don't want to tell yall about this place to keep it to myself but i don't really like chocolate outside of the occasional Reeses and this place made me want to eat more for them. I can't wait to go back and be try more flavors. Service is spectacular. Staff speak English and Spanish. The design team is absolutely amazing. These are award winning chocolates. I'm so speechless. The price point is a little high (6 for $21) but no different than a macaron and you're getting top tier artistry here I tried- the goat cheese, the almond toffee crunch, the pecan pie, salted caramel, cookies and cream, and hazelnut & pop rocks. Even if you don't try anything else from here. The hazelnut and pop rocks is worth the try. It's like nothing i have ever had before. Amazing. Really brilliant. Their bakery is in house. I couldn't even choose a favorite they were all so good. I'll definitely be back. Just go look at the photos!

Yelp
Located in an unassuming business park, with gated parking. The display case is what caught my eye first. The flavors are neatly displayed, labeled, and pleasing to the eye. The person who helped us, which I'm assuming is the owner, was patient and explained everything to us. It's inviting and offers much more than Dubai Chocolates.

Yelp
I was gifted an assorted 16 piece bonbon box for my birthday last month and it was honestly such a treat! I was very upset when the Kate Weiser chocolate pop up closed in River Oaks District earlier this year and am delighted to discover that there is another wonderful place to purchase bonbons in Houston. The flavors are very diverse (truffle, tequila, key lime pie, goat cheese, strawberry basil etc) and incredibly flavorful. This is also the company that supplies the post dinner bonbons at Andiron. Great for a gift or just a treat yo self!

Yelp
These chocolates are DIVINE!!! We just moved close by and I found them while exploring the area. I got a 6 pack of bonbons and 2 chocolate bars (almond toffee crunch and calamansi merengue pie). Bonbon selections were s'mores, baileys, mango habernero, key lime pie, salted caramel, orange blossom pistachio, and macadamia crunch. These were all honestly so good, but my favorites were the key lime pie and s'mores and my hubby's favorite was the salted caramel. Bonbons just melt in your mouth. The bars were so good too, but we really loved the almond toffee crunch bar!! Excellent customer service and delicious, gorgeous chocolates. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
BEST CHOCOLATES IN HOUSTON! You must take a trip of here. It's chocolate meets art meets extreme creativity with amazing, unique flavors!! When you visit you are greeted with friendly helpful faces and the super cool owner is usually there. We just love him! Also Dany the chocolatier is the most friendly helpful guy! You can see how much he loves making these little delicious works of art and making people happy with his creations Nothing beats passion for what you do. The outcome is Love! And of course heavenly bites that make you close your eyes to savor every second. I just realized today that I do that. Lol. Go visit and experience for yourself. You'll love this little, beautiful place full off goodness! They also cater actual food too. You can pick up a sample menu. You can go do team building here or smaller workshops making and decorating your own bon bons. We will be doing that for sure! They have a specialty item, it's truly the "bomb" quite literally. A tube of milk chocolate filled with hazelnuts and pop rocks. Let is slowly melt in your mouth and feel the fun! But they have so much yummy treats to choose from. Milk chocolate peppermint bark in the best!! Chocolate caramel covered popcorn with potato chips. Yes please! And many more. And during holidays they have the best cool item. Like snowball hot chocolate balls for Christmas and other stuff too. I also love the Easter eggs! They have a monthly subscription to test new creations. I can't wait each month to see the crazy fun delicious out of this world creations this genius comes up with.

Yelp
Wow. So, I stumbled upon the Mostly Chocolate booth at the Sugar Plum Market, and I purchased the toffee bar, a package of coffee toffee, and a package of chocolate chunk cookies. OMG. Like seriously, OMG. The toffee bar was absolutely the best toffee I've ever had. I took a bite of it while strolling through the market and had to contain myself. Like, I wanted to declare out loud, "Oh my gosh this is the very best toffee I've ever had!" to the strangers milling about around me, but I refrained. I bought the coffee toffee for my niece, and she took a bite and said, "Oh. Wow. Amazing. So buttery!" I purchased the cookies for my sister who was hosting family dinner that night, and, after trying a cookie, she put the rest in the pantry and said, "I'm not gonna share these." Needless to say, I'll be paying a visit to the shop this week to buy more!

Yelp
Mostly Chocolate and Catering is a family-owned small business in Houston, Texas which specializes in full-service catering, handcrafted artisanal chocolate, and gourmet cookies. I was interested in their Bonbon Workshop where you get to learn what it takes to become a chocolatier through a hands-on experience. After my initial inquiry, we were told some specific information: +they only offer private workshops with a minimum of 4 people, and they cap it at 25. +their workshops are available during the week after business hours (6 pm - 8 pm) and Saturdays anytime between 1-6 pm. +booking a workshop requires a $200 deposit that goes towards the class and to reserve a date. +the price for a workshop is $100/person. +each person leaves with 20 chocolates they make plus a 12-piece sampler collection (32 chocolates a person). We booked the workshop for a Saturday afternoon with Mostly Chocolate and Catering's head chocolatier, Dany Kamkhagi. Our group of 8 enjoyed the workshop a lot as we learned all about chocolate and participated in creating our own! If you want to put together a fun event for a friend's group or a company gathering, I would highly recommend the Bonbon Workshop at Mostly Chocolate and Catering!

Yelp
This was such an amazing and fun experience! I absolutely love chocolate and learned so much from this bonbon making workshop. Dany is very passionate about chocolates and that enthusiasm shows when he teaches the class. You have the freedom and creativity to decorate your bonbons how you want. You leave with a dozen of your own and then a dozen hand picked bonbons from the shop. Well worth the fun! And BYOB!

Yelp
At this chocolate shop, you walk in and are immediately greeted by family of the chef. They take you into the back and let you select your flavors from the storage rack directly. If you're lucky, you also get to see prep work happening for the catering side of the business. I personally had a new flavor of chocolate that was just made and the chocolatier's dad didn't know the exact flavor. Chocolate was delicious. Thin decorative candy coating on the outside with a chocolate filling, I think small nuts in the filling, all seated on a bed/bottom of maybe graham cracker? I have no idea. But. It was fantastic. Beautiful too. Would recommend coming here. Price is very typical for a truffle shop but you get to meet the people who benefit from the purchase. Perfect for the holiday season!

Yelp
These chocolates are SO delicious and packed with flavor. If they've created a flavor, expect to taste EVERYTHING mentioned. These are seriously my favorite chocolates now. It's about a 45 minute drive to get to them from where I live (without traffic) and I'd do it again and again, regardless of gas prices. We had several favorites. We had initially tried one of their products from Houston Dairy Maids around Easter and that's when we fell in love and Googled them. I bought my husband and parents each a box sampler for Easter and we were saying OMG for every single one. It was hard to stop eating these and I regret not grabbing one for myself. Highly, highly recommend from the packaging and presentation to the BEAUTIFUL, vibrant colors and art on the chocolates to most importantly, the punch you in your throat flavor. Try this place!!

Yelp
Best chocolate in Houston! I will definitely buy their chocolate again. The owner is an awesome guy too.

Yelp
Outstanding! Treats were ready on time and exceeded my expectations ! This is the place you want to try for chocolate everything

Yelp
I tried a sample of their chocolate boxes and I also catered for an event. Their chocolates are elegantly and deliciously hand-crafted. I really enjoyed an abundance of unique flavors, such as honey lavender, rosemary and olive oil, raspberry rose and hazelnut & poprocks. The staff was very friendly. You can tell they care a lot about their customers. I will for sure order more of their chocolates!

Yelp
Very good chocolates. The owner is very friendly and informative. We picked up a big box with a variety of chocolates. The banana was our favorite! We also loved the passion fruit.

Yelp
Had a few samples (chocolate covered popcorn, choc caramel pretze) and they were delicious. Super cute

Yelp
Randomly decided to go here with my boyfriend because I was craving chocolate a couple months back. From the outside it doesn't look too special, in fact we weren't even sure we were in the right place, but I seriously had to pee so we went in anyways. And it was the best surprise! The staff was very nice, they take you to a kitchen where you get to see where all of the truffles are made. They even let us pick a few samples while they told us about the awards they have won. We instantly loved it! The pecan pie truffle is amazing. Easily one of my favorite truffles I I have ever had in my life. The coconut one, the PBJ, the hazelnut and pop rocks, the passion fruit one all are also amazing, to name a few. The only one I have ever not liked was the black truffle chocolate. Wouldn't recommend that one ever, but that is also just my taste preference. Someone with a more ~refined~ pallet could probably appreciate it. Long story still long, this place is amazing, their staff is kind, the experience is great, and my boyfriend surprised me with their chocolates (including multiple pecan pie truffles), for Valentines and I was so happy I could've cried! 10/10 go!

Lara C.

Yelp
Incredible service. I stopped in to get my mom a little something and walked out with a giant bag of goodies. The samples I tasted were amazing. I will have to update this review after my family digs into all the bags, but I honestly couldn't believe how nice the staff was here. This shop is an absolute treasure!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Customer service was beyond my expectation, and the lady who helped me was very friendly and sweet. Their chocolate is high quality and tastes just as beautiful as it looks. I purchased their caramel truffle and it was to die for! I would definitely recommend this cute little candy shop if you are a lover for unique chocolate like myself :)

Yelp
I was having a bad day so I wanted some chocolate. I found this place on maps so I went. I am sooo happy I did. I was met by a nice gentleman who turned out to be the chef. I was super impressed that they took the time to talk to me and fabulously describe their chocolates. The chefs dad was there and was so incredibly nice. I bought a box of chocolates and every one of them (25) was fabulous. The fabulous kind that you want to eat slow and savor every morsel. I also got the chocolate salami (not really salami) it is a masterful work of art packed full of deliciousness! I bought 2 protein bars which he had me sample, just wonderful, like cookie dough but better! Lastly I bought some chocolate chip cookies, so delicious. They were frozen and came with heating instructions, genius! I am so thankful for these 2 wonderful gentleman that took the time to brighten my really bad day and served me the most wonderful chocolate I have ever had the pleasure of eating! It's about an hour from my house but worth the drive!

Momo L.

Yelp
They don't have fancy store front but I think that's the secret why their chocolate always taste so fresh!! No weird refrigerator taste and always ready to melt in your mouth. It's pretty pricy but for special occasion, those chocolate definitely can impress the person you want to please.
google avatar

Ellie D.

Yelp
Oh. My. Goodness. This place has some of the best chocolate I've EVER eaten. And that's some pretty high praise coming from a chocolate diva/connoisseur (my boyfriend says the correct term is brat but hey, potato potato amirite?). I didn't go in the store but they were in Williams and Sonoma so I stopped by and tried some samples. It's all super artisan hand crafted chocolate. I was told the chocolatier hand paints the chocolate! So cool. They have a goat cheese truffle which is phenomenal. A perfect blend of sea salt, goat cheese and chocolate just whisks you off your feet. They told me about another chocolate they sold which had scotch in it?? Sign me up! I ended up buying a dark chocolate salami with pistachios pecans and a bunch of other nuts. So delish. I can't wait to go buy some more at their store.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I first found this place when my wife said all she wanted was chocolate for Valentine's Day. So to show her up I looked up gourmet chocolates in Houston. After meeting with a few leads on Yelp I decided to call Mostly Chocolate and I must say it was an amazing experience. * I met the family that owns the business and delightfully told me what they wanted to accomplish with their products. * I was shown options regarding packaging, various treats, and the process of hand crafting their goods. * they have catered large business venues and one-on-one customers seamlessly. * Innovative flavor combinations and exquisite designs. I highly recommend the truffles and DO NOT leave without an order of chocolate salami. We had no idea this was a thing until we visited and it's always the first item my wife asks for. Thank you all at Mostly Chocolate for what you do and do so well. ~ NS

Yelp
I have never before taken the time to post a Yelp review, but after my first (and certainly not last) visit to this tiny little chocolate store on my birthday yesterday, I was immediately compelled to sing their praises to anyone who will listen/read. Simply put, this is THE best chocolate that I have ever tasted (and I have tried many different artisan chocolates and even worked in a chocolate store in my younger years). The chocolates are little works of art that are even more delicious than they are beautiful (and they are gorgeous ). Each of the 6 unique chocolates I picked for my small sampler box had the perfect ratio of melt-in-your-mouth chocolate shell to flavorful filling . I savored every single bite of goat cheese, honey lavender, macadamia crunch, milk chocolate, orange blossom pistachio, and almond toffee crunch - so hard to pick a favorite because they were all so delicious ! I have never been so sad to finish a box of chocolate before, and I can't wait to visit them again! Please support this local business and go visit Mostly Chocolate as soon as you can! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands-down THE BEST PLACE in Houston for artisan chocolates. Amazing. And absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, stop reading yelp reviews for chocolates now and just go check them out. Dany, the master chocolatier, is a creative genius in the kitchen. I mean, Hazelnut & Poprocks? Wasabi & Hawaiian salt? Cinnamon & Tabasco? I'm not an adventurous eater, but really enjoyed how surprisingly great these were. Of course they have your basics too like salted caramel, milk chocolate, and espresso if that's more your thing. I first saw them at the Nutcracker Market and ended up visiting their storefront to order more chocolates for gifts.
google avatar

Carola M.

Yelp
I had to go pick an order for the office it was chocolate pudding cups covered with whip cream. When I got to the office they said I could try one and oh my gosh, it was delicious. I have tasted a lot of chocolate in my time, but this by far the best chocolate I have tasted wow. They are pretty popular they cater for whatever event and they do deliveries. The owner Rina Kamkhagi is a genius she has always loved pastries as a child and she had a craving of a pastry from her childhood but could not find it anywhere in Houston so she decided to make it her self and mostly chocolate was born. They have French meringues, mini key lime pie, cheesecake lollipops, cup cakes, cheese cakes, and chocolate cake. The wonderful thing about this place is the way they are decorated and presented it looks so nice that you don't want to eat it hahaah. Check out their website and see all the delicious deserts they offer.

Yelp
Awesome experience for getting something special. Since the shop was in a business park, I was expecting a standard store front with mfg in the back - NOT this place. Danny, owner and chocolatier, met me in front and brought me to the truffle room to hand pick my gift box. The quality is top notch, flavor's unique and traditional, and customer service outstanding.

Brandon A.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. Came here for chocolates to surprise my bf and wow, blown away at the selection and they are delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend it!!

Michael H.

Yelp
I cant recommend this place enough. Walk in and just see how friendly everyone is and get buy some chocolate for fun. You cant regret it.
