Ambitious cuisine that unfortunately tries too hard
We had the 13-course surprise menu. On the positive side, the friendly staff and the wide selection of sparkling wines (including champagne) at fair prices stood out. Unfortunately, out of the courses offered, only two (swordfish and eggplant with seaweed) were noteworthy in a positive way. The rest was more an attempt than actual skill (pasta that tastes like a Cuba Libre?!). We were particularly puzzled by a course with limp green beans and a pumpkin seed dip. The pasta with bottarga as the final course before the desserts also felt out of place in the sequence of dishes. Overall, the visual appeal of the dishes was lacking, and we often felt that something was missing from the plate. Additionally, the portions were too small, especially for the main courses. See photos for reference.
All in all, a likeable crew that unfortunately tries to be more than they can handle.
