Several Minneapolis Restaurants Band Together to Sue Against Vaccine Mandate - Eater Twin Cities

"The former Peace Coffee in the ground level of Capella Tower, 225 South Sixth Street, near Second Avenue South, will become Mother Dough tomorrow, January 25. According to the Star Tribune, the new bakery from father and son, David and Eli Fhima will have breakfast sandwiches, tea, espresso, and more bites inspired by “the streets of Paris.” The publication also reports that a second location for Mother Dough is slated for March at another defunct Peace Coffee location in the Capella Tower." - Emma Orlow

Mother Dough has a variety of breads, salads, sandwiches, and deserts + pastries that make it the perfect spot to have a pick-me-up. Lunch feels much more elavated. My favorite is their Tuna Club Sandwich! One thing that makes them stand out is their amazing staff. David is very attentive, polite, and personable with each and every customer. He's efficient and very skilled as a barista. Having someone who genuinely cares about their customers and their craft is what makes this place that much more enjoyable to visit. All employees are very kind and attentive.

Cool atmosphere and location. Service is friendly and nice. If you’re looking to fill a longing for a Parisian pastry, it falls a bit short there. There are more compelling options in the twin cities for that. Chocolate croissant was pretty good but lacking the flaky, chewy, sheer joy you experience when eating that in Europe. The blueberry scones were underwhelming - gritty in texture and leave something to be desired. We also tried a cappuccino - good, but again, there are better options elsewhere.

Wonderful bakery and friendly staff. Baked goods are made fresh daily. I recommend trying their butter and chocolate croissants -- quite good. Their coffee was fresh and flavorful as well.

Indulge in Parisian luxury at Mother Dough Bakery. Their exquisite pastries and delectable bread transport you straight to the City of Lights. A must-visit for any French food enthusiast.

Extremely cool location in a modern building, comfy couches and comfortable cool surroundings are the signature of the place. Croissant was an outstanding example of fine viennoiserie with a delicate yet firm buttery crust. The almond croissant was equally good with a not too sweet filling complimenting the flaky pastry. Alas the accompanying espresso left much to be desired. Too large a shot (about 3-3.5 oz) which was over extracted. But the friendly service, vibe and baked goods compensate well!

Good experience in this very small bakery. Note for newcomers like myself: the actual bakery is on the 2nd floor, while the 1st floor is really like a smaller coffee kiosk. We got a delicious, decadent piece of chocolate cake from the upstairs one- very moist despite the fact that we came in near their closing time. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere (pleasant music, comfy chairs).

I only visited the downstairs quicker option bakery. Got exactly what I set out for! Great service too! Scones were enjoyed.

We LOVED our experience at Mother Dough. Highly recommend grabbing coffees on the first floor, then heading upstairs for pastries/breakfast or lunch. The owner was very helpful in giving recommendations and is clearly very passionate about his bakery. We will be back!

Yelp
On my quest to keep trying places when I'm working downtown I came across Mother Dough while looking for a new breakfast place. This place is beautiful, the decor and vibe of the whole place is immaculate and gorgeous. For that alone I'd give them 5 stars! When I arrived it was pretty busy but the line went fast, the staff was patient while I ordered and answered questions as I had them. Food came out pretty quickly and it did not disappoint. My only complaint was the price point. I know things are getting higher in price (especially downtown) but this felt a bit above what I'd feel comfortable paying every week. Which was a bummer as I really enjoyed my experience otherwise. I'll save it for a nice treat every once in a while but alas won't be in my regular rotation. I would still recommend, just know it'll be more than you're expecting and you'll be fine!

Yelp
Got a variety of things just to try it out and I loved it. I have baked for a long time and my grandma was a French baker as well. I make my own French bread, brioche, and baguettes all the time. So I am very critical on breads and as I thought it was lovely. Fhima's for me is always quality goods. Bread is reasonably priced, however the croissants are a little overpriced. Everything was delicious as always. The ambiance is a cute, quant, and nicely decorated. The staff was ok they were not the most polite and was a little disappointed in the eye roll I got when asking if the breads change or are the three options always the same. She said I don't know and nothing else. I hope they keep this line up as the sourdough is definitely something I would like to try. Overall I wanted to give 5 as I always do with Fhima's, however I am used to great service on top of great food. That unfortunately fell a bit short in this case and I know would not be up to Fhima's high standards of food and service.

Yelp
With Édith Piaf from the overheads, friendly, thoughtful service, tasty almond croissants and espressos in a Parisian-theme patisserie. If asked, "Do you work in the building?" consider your response. Yes gets a discount, no gets, "I'm sorry, if you worked in the building you would get a discount."

Yelp
Located in the Capella Tower downtown, this is a cute little bakery that's open till mid afternoon. I stopped by there for lunch today. One of my coworkers had recommended it. The place is nice and clean. Good decor and comfortable seating. The person on the counter was very helpful with my questions. I got the Tuna Club, skipping the bacon and choosing kettle chips as my side. Added a bottled coke for my drink. The total was $18. A little expensive, especially $4 for the coke. The sandwich was loaded. Lots of Tuna, with tomato, onions on fresh baked brioche bread. Topped with gherkins. This was a very filling sandwich with a good mix of flavors and textures. And very filling. If you are looking for something different for lunch downtown, I would recommend this place, even though it's a little expensive.

Yelp
Chocolate croissant is filled with nutella--surprising and delicious. Chai tea latte had just the right level of spice and not overly sweet.

Yelp
My disappointment in the vegetarian breakfast sandwich is immeasurable! Before I get into describing the product, I'm gonna recap my patronage experience at this bakery. So I actually stopped by the shop yesterday morning when they opened at 7 am. Unfortunately, it appeared they were fixing a leaking ceiling, so a man behind the counter told me that they're currently out of commission for the time being and that I could try the store located on the first floor of the building. To my disappointment (which is the keyword for this bakery), the first-floor store had a limited menu with no breakfast sandwiches and six or seven varieties of pastries. However, the redeeming factor was the associate who was SO SWEET. She was so patient and professional, and the reason this place gets two stars instead of one. I ended up ordering an Americano and chocolate croissant, which tasted a day old because it was oddly chewy instead of crisp and flaky. Anyway, back to this morning. So the second-floor shop was actually open today, and the menu description of the vegetarian breakfast sandwich is parmesan, eggs, and gruyere on sourdough with tomato remoulade, which sounds heavenly. However, what I actually received was subpar. First of all, breakfast sandwiches are usually warm and comforting in the morning. My sandwich was neither of these things. In fact, it was barely lukewarm (and I ate within five minutes of receiving it). Though the picture I took makes the sandwich look lightly toasted, it didn't taste toasted at all. The bread was super oily from being buttered, though, so it could've benefited from more toaster time. And the cheese was cold and hard. Secondly, the egg was thin and anemic. The bread slices were thicker than the egg. To be honest, when I opened up the box, I thought the egg was a piece of chicken and that they got my order wrong (but I'm sure a chicken sandwich would've been more substantial than what I got). As you can see from my picture, the egg is tiny compared to the bread. They should describe this item as two pieces of buttered bread with a side of egg. Plus, why is there lettuce in a breakfast sandwich?! Oh, it's to make this pathetic $10 breakfast sandwich look presentable. And I don't know why there is a side of chips with a breakfast sandwich, but they were basic kettle chips. tl;dr SKIP the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. It will make your morning sadical.

Yelp
What a great local and small business to support! Their almond milk matcha with lavender is so good! Asking for extra forth just brought it over the top. The service is good and the place feels and looks like you went to France for a quick break! It's a bummer to see negative reviews from multiple Karens because my experience has been nothing but positive and enjoyable!

Yelp
Average coffee, and in my opinion below average croissants. They straight up taste like pre-packaged croissants you can get at a grocery store. I only give it 3 stars because of the actual location/ambiance/space. There are a number of bakeries with superior croissants such as Bellacour, Patisserie 46, Rose Street Patisserie, etc. I would come back just to sit in the space but not order anything

Yelp
A treat right in downtown mpls to have amazing baked goods, a handmade cup of coffee and sandwiches and salads that are tasty and unique. Enjoy a welcome break and become a regular with the great staff.

Yelp
Opened in the old Peace Coffee spot, but has a single barista (ground level- no pun intended) and a huge menu so be prepared to wait a long time if there is more than a customer or two in front of you. I am sitting here after about 10 minutes and they're still working on my single breve order! Coffee is nothing special, but they do serve alcohol.
