This is what has been missing in my neighborhood! I am so glad that Chef Fhima decided to open a Parisian Bakery here. The place is nicely decorated, the staffs are friendly and I got to meet Eli this morning picking up my pastries. Mill District now has a go-to place for coffee and pastries (and bread, too). Best wishes to Mother Dough.

First impressions are everything - their house light roast coffee blend was very tasty. However, my time with the fruit danish was less than pleasant. It was served cold directly from the fridge/cooler. The fruit section was also visibly frozen. The server said they were advised to serve it that way and were not allowed to warm it up or leave them out at room temp. If you plan to eat the danish at the cafe like I did, then you may need to wait 30+ min for it to reach room temperature and thaw. My feedback to management would be to make this adjustment swiftly because while I really wanted to go back and enjoy other items on the menu, I’m now reluctant to do so due to my experience with the nearly frozen danish. Update: The response from management is exactly what superior customer service should look and feel like across the industry, and as a result I'm updating my original review to reflect the quality of service care Mother Dough Bakery offers to their customers both near and far.

A Parisian cafe with wonderful pastries, French breads, sandwiches, salads, and coffee. The ambiance is fantastic and is the kind of cafe I would love to just hangout in. If you are looking for croissants and coffee this is second to none. It fits nicely with the aesthetic and vibe of the mill district and is a more elevated experience. Like all of the Fhima restaurants the eye for detail and quality of the food and beverage makes it a premium experience. I liked sitting in the upstairs area framed by large windows overlooking the entrance to the mill city museum while my partner and I drank our espressos, had a generous breakfast sandwich, and had a chocolate croissant. The bathrooms are particularly nice

We have been walking past this new location for three weeks, wondering when it would open. So we were very excited when we saw it was finally open. It's a very cute space, with a nice patio outside and beautiful tiled walls inside. Service was good. It seems they are trying to do a French thing, with imported Parisian chocolates and macarons, so this should be something we would love, but we were not wowed. Prices were above average and the croissant was nothing to write home about, like your typical soft chewy American croissant. It reminded me of a grocery store croissant. And the baguette was also not what we would expect from a place trying to do French pastries. While perfectly edible, it didn't have the crust or crumb we expect from a true baguette. More like a grocery store baguette. It's convenient to our work, so we may be back to try other things, but this first venture was definitely mediocre at best.

Huge selection of pastries, soup, sandwiches. And the COFFEE! Great place loved it. The map of paris on the window is so cool.

Love it here. Friendly gentlemen who waited on us. The scone (gluten free) and latte were great. And I love the decor and upstairs seating! Going back today to try a breakfast sandwich. So happy you’re in the neighborhood. Need more restaurants in the East area!

What a great addition to Mill District! I’ve gone multiple times since it opened. The coffee is pretty standard and hits the spot. The almond croissant is not the best in the city, but it’s better than anything else in the area. The star though is the turkey sandwich. Wow!

Amazing customer service. There wasn’t any sourdough for the day but they were so generous to have it brought from another location and helped me with other birthday treats. Top notch and thoughtful. The aroma of the bakery is enough to want to come back. Highly recommend trying this place.
