Bought a few bottles of interesting world wines, from time to time, from the store. We stopped off for a glass of bubbly on a late Saturday afternoon. Immediately offered plastic flutes. “All glass flutes have been used.” My worst! When I suggested using one of the many white wine glasses on display, the typical English response of “computer says no” emerged. “We can’t use those!”
“You should not say ‘can’t’ you should use simple initiative and volunteer a white wine glass!” Not so complicated since a glass of wine equates to half the revenue of a glass of bubbly! But why sacrifice a non-sensical instruction at the alter of commercial naus! It seems that saying “no” is far less complicated than finding a solution, for some! Pity! We move on…and away!
