Where To Eat In West London (If You Hate West London) - London - The Infatuation

"Mother is a pizzeria originally from Copenhagen, and is now located in a railway arch in the Battersea Power Station. Apart from the fact it’s not in East London, it’s very East London, straight down to the brick walls and dark lighting. The pizza and other food is solid, and it’s a good place to come with a group." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, eileen twum

I always love going for wine at mother vine. The wine selection is very good, and the waiters know their wine and recommend always something good and matching your taste. The atmosphere is also good especially in the summer under the olive tree. Only downfall is that they don’t have food other than snacks.

A very chilled place to sit outside drinking one of the many glasses of wine on offer here, then washed down with truffle potato chips, olives & salted almonds.

Walking past I thought this place looked interesting with a vast selection of wines, decided to call in to sit down and enjoy the most beautiful glass of Bordeaux. Very friendly team, an amazing selection of wines, great atmosphere both inside and out.

Great place! Such a charming environment! Tiny wine shop with a sitting area upstairs and some outdoor tables. Matt and Bruce provided great service. Smiling and accommodating our needs. Matt choose the red wine for us, full body oak aged Garbielskloof - great pick! Highly recommended! We are going to be back ro try Die Verlore Bokooi red wine recommended by Bruce (not Willis)<3

Bought a few bottles of interesting world wines, from time to time, from the store. We stopped off for a glass of bubbly on a late Saturday afternoon. Immediately offered plastic flutes. “All glass flutes have been used.” My worst! When I suggested using one of the many white wine glasses on display, the typical English response of “computer says no” emerged. “We can’t use those!” “You should not say ‘can’t’ you should use simple initiative and volunteer a white wine glass!” Not so complicated since a glass of wine equates to half the revenue of a glass of bubbly! But why sacrifice a non-sensical instruction at the alter of commercial naus! It seems that saying “no” is far less complicated than finding a solution, for some! Pity! We move on…and away!

I was meeting a girlfriend early evening on Valentine’s Day for a long overdue catch-up and liked the sound of Mother Vine. She arrived before me and got a table for us upstairs. We were really well looked after by the charming and knowledgeable staff who recommended a vintage St Éstèphe which they had just got a case of. Two glasses (quite small but perfect for me) of that were a cracking start to the evening and, because we were there early on a Friday, there was a discount. I will definitely go again and take my oenophile other half.

Excellent evening. Knowledgeable and sociable staff, not necessarily a given. Great fellow tasters good for their knowledge too. Lovely location, we'll be back!
