Here's what was said as we consumed 4 different taco varieties, multiple fresh salsas, chips, pickled vegetables, and elote: "Mmmm...", "Oh God, this is delicious!", "What's that guy eating? It looks so good!", "It's kind of sad, but now we're never going to go back to (insert name of another place we really like in Napa)".
Here's what was said at a concert later that night and on the drive home that followed: "How soon do you think we can go back to Mothers Tacos?", "I keep thinking about those delicious salsas", "Why can't Marin have Mothers Tacos?", and "We're going to be inventing a lot of excuses to head to Napa".
And here's what was said tonight, 5 days after visiting Mothers: "I'd really like Mothers Tacos tonight".
This was my second time at Mothers Tacos and it was just as delicious as my first time. The serve-yourself salsa bar was clean and attractively presented, the menu was creative and interesting (ditto the al fresco seating; all the seating is outside), and the food is the bomb (read: absolutely delicious).
Tourists will dine downtown but those in the know will venture off the beaten path. You could just tell that those who were eating here felt about the food exactly as I did: thrilled to settle in and consume.
