I'm feeling charitable today so, 2 stars. 1.5 is closer to reality but I didn't get sick from this , so, there's that. First, this place is FILTHY. Disgustingly dirty. From the bathroom to the tiny dining room and entranceway, everything is covered in grease, grime and dirt.
The coconut curry I got was missing coconut and curry flavours and, at 3 stars was simply too spicy hot (and I'm not a lightweight). It appeared that the kitchen rolls their paneer in pepper powder, which is almost all I could taste. Somehow, even with the heat, this was so bland. They only have white jasmine rice. Not a crime but they must be clueless to be on Capitol Hill and not offer brown or red rice (hello nutrients!).
The woman -who wasn't polite and wasn't rude- told me three stars was too hot (even for her) AFTER she gave me my food and asked if mine was indeed prepared 'three stars' spicy. She offered nothing as a concession to the fact that I was clearly unhappy.
Oh, plus, they had no fan and zero airflow, so, eating in their filth pit was unbearable.
Too boot, while it might be more acceptable to some vegans, instead of cooking with butter, they're using fake butter liquid frankenfood. See the photo.
I've been curious about Moti for a while but they've always been closed earlier than I have wanted to eat. I won't be back. Mirch Masala further up Broadway is so much better and a pleasant experience. Plus, there are other much, much better Indian food options on Capitol Hill.
I left having eaten only a small fraction of my food. Get your stuff together Moti!
