The Most-Read Stories of 2023 on Eater Seattle - Eater Seattle

"Thankfully, this headline is no longer true: As of this month, Moto Pizza began accepting walkups at all three of its locations. But back in April, getting your hands on one of Moto’s Filipino-inflected, Detroit-style pies required ordering your pizza months in advance. Or you could have done what one customer did, and buy a reservation off Reddit for $40." - Harry Cheadle

What Makes Moto Seattle’s Most Sought-After Pizza? | Eater Seattle

"When I checked the Edmonds location, the website informed me, “We’re not accepting online orders at this time, but feel free to browse our online menu,” which underscores how tight supply remains; the Edmonds shop opened in 2022 as part of Moto’s scaling-up and helped the business move from a cottage operation into a multi-location operation capable of producing more pizzas each night." - Harry Cheadle

Thankfully there's an odd pizza place around serving up odd vegan pizza 🙌 My partner and I are visiting Edmonds and we're so lucky to find not only a Detroit style pizza joint, but one that has vegan options! The first time we came in we got the Plant pizza. It hits all the right notes of fresh and light on top of a thiccc slice. We came back a few days later to get the vegan pepperoni and it was also superb. Tried a little vegan hot honey with it 🔥 11/10 You gotta try this place

Pizza is so great we had to go twice in less than a week. This was the best pie I have ever had. Portland may have to give up the crown for the best pizza city. The crab and Root pies were beyond a tasty delight. Don't beat up your taste buds by eating pizza that tastes like a cardboard box that it came in. This is real food made by people that care about taste.

Google
10/10 for the ambience. It has such a cool and welcoming vibe. Very rare to see that in a pizza place. Arcade games keeps us occupied while we wait for our order. We tried shrimp and mushroom pizzas. Perhaps I should have asked for customization (not sure if they provide that as I ordered from a kiosk) because I personally am not a fan of tomato sauce hence I couldn’t enjoy the pizzas as much as I hoped for. I couldn’t find alternatives on their menu displayed perhaps having alternatives would have enhanced my experience.

Google
Had long awaited a chance to try a MOTO pizza, and their happy hour ($20 for a pie and two drinks) was just the perfect deal. We went with the Pepperoni and WOW! I don't think there was one bite that didn't have a wealth of flavor. One pizza can easily be shared by two people. And we saved just enough room to enjoy their soft- serve ice cream for dessert. It all made for a fun and filling night out. Staff is friendly, and the pizza was out pretty quickly. Their seating area is somewhat limited, but we didn’t have any trouble getting a booth. We'll look forward to trying the other very creative pizza offerings in the future.

Google
Hey Seattle stop and try this pizza place out. It’s hard to find good pizza out in seattle let’s be real. We decided to try out MOTO pizza for first time and I’m blown away with the freshness of the ingredients and flavor of the pizza variety they have. Definitely will come back here for more to try out the different kinds. Jack is the man! The service he has provided us has been very exceptional. Thank you for handling the moment at hand and giving us an experience we won’t forget. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.

Google
We stopped at MOTO for a quick bite before our boat tour. The employee was friendly and helpful. The service was fast. The pizza was DELICIOUS. I'm now a huge Detroit-style pizza fan & so sad we don't have anywhere near us now that we're back in California!

Tonya C.

Google
Best pizza I've ever had! So delicately crispy on the outside and pillowy as a cloud on the inside. The toppings were delicious, including the vegan cheese. Loved that they had that option! Staff were nice and helpful.

Google
We picked up four different pizzas to try as a family and then reheated in our oven, which worked very well. MOTO has unique flavor combinations packaged in Detroit style pizza. We all thought the pizzas were delicious, and plan to order again. We had scheduled pick-up a few days in advance but due to missing our planned ferry we had to call to reschedule. The staff were super nice and did so without any issue.

Yelp
Ang sarap! My cuzin put us onto this place and when I looked up the menu and saw the Beef Adobo pie and it included kimchi, I mean if you know you know!!! (PinaySeoul) Next up Mr.Pig!! I need to plan my next visit ASAP. You just have to come and try it out for yourself, that is all..

Yelp
Spent the evening strolling around Edmonds with my girlfriend and we stumbled upon MOTO. It's a cool looking pizza spot that serves detroit-style pizza with lots of interesting options. It was also happy hour time, so we were able to get a pizza and two drinks for about $20. Also note, it's a self-serve kiosk at this location. We had ordered the Mr. Pig which had lechon kawali and a bunch of cheeses. It was pretty dang tasty and felt filling very quickly. The meats were flavourful and the pizza was sauced up. My girlfriend did say it tasted a little too sweet for her, but she also really liked the pizza overall. I can see MOTO as a place I would come back to try again, and I'm sure I will soon! Solid pizza place!

Yelp
My motto for MOTO, esta todo bien! The only reason not five stars is price. Their za is pricey for what you get. They have one size, 9-inch square. It will feed two people but you don't have to worry about feeling stuffed. I tried three pizzas, All In, Crab, and Shrimp. First I'll say the crab they use is legit! Great flavor, fresh tasting. In my opinion, Dungeness crab is the best crab, especially if you aren't the one shelling it! Their compilation of ingredients is just a little out of balance for my liking. Maybe just a little too much citrus. I wouldn't order the crab again. (3 stars) The shrimp, wow...outstanding and intriguing flavor. That pizza does have a kick but it's just right. If you not a spicy lover you may want to pass on that one. But it is really perfect in heat (I'd say 3-star in heat on scale 0-5). It has just enough heat to deepen the entire flavor profile. Well done MOTO. I will say they are light on the shrimp. You are definitely NOT getting a shrimp in each bite. It's about one shrimp per pizza slice (4 slices per pie). Although the shrimp size is about 25 count (ie 25/lb). I think it would be better if using that size to cut them to maybe 2 or 3 bites for better coverage on the pizza. The pineapple pesto is a unique flavor to me. And very tasty. Again the distribution of ingredients on the shrimp pizza was off though. Each bite could give you a different tasting experience. I suppose that could be a positive but I was wanting more bites with the pesto (and shrimp of course). I would order this one again. (4 stars) The "All In" is all good and very satisfying. Their tomato sauce is good. And that is key to a good pizza. I'm not a black olive fan, but it really works with their design. Toppings seem like high quality ingredients. The types of cheese used gives you the gooeyness and a cheese forward flavor. The cheese is not just a background topping. This would probably be my go to when going there. Of the three tasted, this was my favorite. (5 star). Needless to say the crust is deep dish and it is an AWESOME crust. Perfectly cooked with caramelized edges of cheese and/or toppings to bring it ALL together, should I say All In? :) At the Edmonds store they have maybe 5 diner type booths for a dine-in culinary experience. Great friendly staff. A very positive experience. Parking is an issue. The chances of you having to park a few (or more blocks away) is very high on nice days. That is a decision point for me to go back not. Hard for me to say at this point. If I'm going to Main Street Edmonds for other reasons it's a no brainer to get MOTO. But to go there just for MOTO, that is a tough one. If you live the urban style and used to trying to find parking this will be a non issue for you.

Yelp
Probably the best pizza place in Seattle! Wow I was impressed with the flavors, so strong and flavorful. The crab pizza has this well balanced lime to go with the crab. My favorite was the clam pizza which tasted like clam chowder, wow the bacon went so well with the clam. I would come back! I was almost full off of just half a personal pizza.

Yelp
My son ate here and he said, "It ruined pizza for me." There was not enough cheese and the pepperoni tasted horrible. He said he walked 3 miles to get there and "it was not worth the walk."

Yelp
Isn't it nice when the hype is deserved? That's Moto. First, the space. Super cool, you can see the faded out Tavern sign out front, walk in and it then feels like a 50s diner, except it smells like damn good pizza. From the cashier to the kitchen, the vibe of the place is "I like pizza, I like these ppl and I like this place" which adds a lot. Inside sparkling clean too. Ok the pies. Detroit style. Thick. The crust is crispy and delish. You'll want to take a walk afterwards. Good thing downtown Edmonds is a lovely place for a stroll. Got the Kissd, Adobo, Crab and Mr Pig. Kissd had a lovely hot honey that added just enough sweetness to a classic pepp and sausage. Crab is simpler, had nice chunks of crab, which really let that shine. Nothing fancy but sometimes that simplicity is what you want. On the other side of the spectrum is Mr Pig, flavor explosion. Some tang from the lime, a ton of savory from the various meats and the colors were beautiful. And then my personal fav, Adobo. Garlicky, cabbage-y and the adobo was juicy and everything was really well balanced. Super fun night and will absolutely be back. Such unique pies and executed really well.

Yelp
MOTO has the best vegan pizzas I have ever had. My favorite is the Plant; it's super flavorful and not terribly heavy considering that it's Detroit-style pizza. I love that they have smaller lunch portions; it's particularly nice for lunch dates with my husband who does not opt for the vegan options. His favorites are the All In and Mr. Pig. I'd highly recommend this spot to eat in for lunch or takeout for dinner.

Yelp
Best Detroit pizza I've ever had (and that includes Buddy's in Detroit)! The crust was crispy and pillowy and buttery and just incredibly delicious! The sauce is sweet and savory. They do not skimp on the cheese either which is the perfect combo of flavors that you expect from a brick cheese and mozzarella mix with Detroit-style. The Vegan Kissed was amazing as well. I would never have known it was vegan. The pepperoni was spicy and salty and had perfectly crisped edges. And the vegan cheese ate like regular even down to some strong pull. Amazing!

Yelp
Such tasty pizza and now an amazing black garlic cheese bread too. My kids had a hard time holding back so they could buy some ice cream too. The flavors on everything is so good

Yelp
I finally got the opportunity to try Moto, via a walk-in, just after it opened. Like many others, I was very familiar with the name; however, I wasn't interested in being wait-listed for food. We opted to not do a traditional flavor profile, and because of our Filipino heritage, we tried the Mr. Pig and the Adobo pizzas. The crust was very buttery, flaky and airy, but it wasn't dense. It was almost like a crispy focaccia bread. Of the two pizzas, the Mr. Pig is was jumped out for me. The Mr. Pig was sweet, fatty, and just had a great flavor across the board. I would highly recommend. The adobo pizza was good, but I wasn't really getting that adobo taste. When I picked off a piece of meat individually, I got it, but aside from that it was lost with the other flavors. The kimchi did help provide some freshness to the pizza. Taking my rating with a grain of salt, because I am more of a Neapolitan pizza guy, I thought that was very good and would come back and try other pizzas, but it wasn't my favorite. I think it's worth a try if you catch them at any location with extra dough. I don't know if I would wait for it though.

Yelp
Everything I've eaten here has been good. I've been working my way through the menu and I think my favorite is KISSD with spicy honey- which is weird bc I'm always slightly scared of spicy things. I also tried the Black Garlic Cheesy Bread and YUM! I love the lunch pie size. I usually get takeout but they've got a cute diner-esque retro thing going and it would be fun to grab a beer and hang out... Service has always been great, nice and responsive.

Yelp
I hate to give this a 3 star review...unfortunately, we had high hopes for this "so called" AMAZING mind blowing pizza that was worth $50!!! Well it fell short in many ways. 1) shrimp pizza had 4 pieces of shrimp and lots of cheese. That's it for $26! What?!? 2) Pig was good and I suppose worth the $22 price point. 3) we preordered 2 months ago and couldn't wait to try this pizza that everyone was raving about from WS. I had it on my Yelp for years!!!However, it didn't taste up to the hype, the COST, the wait or the drive to Edmonds. Overall, if you want 4 pieces of over priced, cheesy pizza. This is the place for you. #pizzafail

Yelp
Place is fun, pizza is great. Happy hour there is a must. My gf says it's greasy, don't listen to her it's perfect! Lol

Yelp
So many pizzas to try but what really surprised me was the soft serve! I got the vanilla and black cherry soft serve and it was so good. I am still thinking about it. For the pizza, I really enjoyed the mr.pig! I also tried the adobo but it was more dry. I also tried the hot honey with pepperoni but still liked mr. Pig more. Would come back and try more pizzas but you have to preorder wayyyyyy in advance.

Yelp
We're so thrilled at the continued location expansion MOTO is having, the Edmonds location is much closer to our home. Although it's a varying location the taste of our favorite pies hasn't changed at all. The service is a lot like the Seattle location authentically courteous, and welcoming. The atmosphere is very befitting for downtown Edmonds, and unlike Seattle there is an option for indoor sitting. We love MOTO, and highly recommend!

Shawana L.

Yelp
Is it worth the hype to order 3 months in advance? Yes because it is the best deep dish I've had in Seattle. BUT, I've had better deep dish elsewhere that's more accessible and at half the cost. At 4 slices per box, it is quite filling and i only need 2 pieces to feel full. I've now experienced the MOTO pizza experience twice now and have tried Mr. pig, Kissd, All In, and clam chowdah. While Mr. pig and Clam chowdah are unique, it's not something I want seconds of. Mr. pig was a bit too sweet for my taste and clam chowdah tasted more like smoked bacon than clams to me. All-In is prob my favorite of the group.

Yelp
Okay, so let's put it this way: Moto Pizza is the Taylor Swift of Pizza. An online order today get you a pizza in mid-September. What? Are you serious? Pick up at 8:45pm. No joke. But if you show up like I did @ 3:30pm, when it opens at 4 pm, they, as they mention on their web site's question page: "we may have extra dough." Speaking of dough, for basically $25, you can dine in or walk out with a heavy, (9"ishx9"ish and 2"-3" thick-ish) pie, quartered w/ unorthodox topping combos that could replace patio pavers. The whole transaction takes about 20-minutes from the order. It's given to you from a happy-go-lucky employer. With pride, it's all yours. Enjoy it like the extended 10-minute version of "All Too Well." Be that as it may, these pizzas fill you. They are good. They're unique. They're pizza marshmallows. They expand the tummy without knowing it, until the food coma arrives. But, I just can't shake the struggle within me to understand and/or justify the price. Yet, it just seemed as though life got extreme expensive post Covid. "Back in my day..." Pizza used to be under $15 for XL sizes. Listen, if Swifty's are willing to put $200-$2000+ into T's bank account, then Moto can "supply" the "demand" at the price of pearls in a oyster less world. In other words there is probably a need for Market Adjustment, but trending north into the upper crust (excuse the pun). Look it's great pizza. But the price makes it a novelty--like seeing Taylor Swift live and experiencing a literal earthquake doing so. Enjoy the pizza. Spurge. Don't overthink the price. Shake, shake, shake, shake, Shake it off. Just know you and inexpensive pizza are "never ever getting back together."

Yelp
I got to try their beef adobo pizza this time and the flavors worked well together. The soy sauce marinade and the vinegary kimchi brings out the salty and sour side of adobo. However I feel like because of the kimchi, this pizza could also pass as bulgogi pizza. It would just need gochujang and maybe some corn cheese and maybe more of a sesame oil scent. Definitely crispier than before. Strong crispy crust. Bottom crust was still not as crunchy as I had wanted but still crunchier than before due to the amount of grease used. This crunchy bottom I crave can be easily resolved by leaving the pizza in the fridge for a day or two and then reheating in a pan with a lid and some oil. I got some black cherry with chocolate soft serve. Had nice pockets of syrup as I ate through it. The chocolate soft serve was Hershey's syrup. Service was quick. There were about four or five booths to wait at. I saw that they accept walk ins now but not sure how long of the wait the pizza is. Call beforehand.

Yelp
Ok for just the Mr.Pig pizza I would give 100 stars, infinite stars even. That pizza changed my perception of what pizza is and what pizza could be. I want to bathe in the calamansi lime sauce. I ordered the Mr.Pig and the crab pizzas two months in advance and was so excited when the time finally came to pick them up. Honestly it was worth the drive from Seattle to Edmonds. Edmonds is such a cute beach town and the MOTO shop was colorful and fun. The service was friendly and seemed to match our excitement about the pizza. As I've said, I loved the Mr.Pig pizza but I'm holding back because the crab pizza was lacking. It doesn't have any sauce on it so I found it incredibly dry. The dough itself is awesome though, super crispy on the outside but light and airy on the inside. No doubt, I'll be back here to try the other fun pizzas and I'll revisit the star situation after that. I could only find street parking here but found a spot pretty quickly. There is a lot behind the building but I think those spots are reserved for other businesses.

Yelp
MOTO serves incredible Detroit style pizza. They have a thick crust like a Chicago style pizza, but the toppings arranged in a different manner. Every aspect of the pizza had incredible flavor, from the crust to the toppings. If you enjoy pizza, this will be an amazing pizza experience. They serve pizza slices daily, but usually you have to order the pizza approximately two months in advance, you heard me correctly two months in advance. The pizza is definitely worth it.

Yelp
I'd been eyeing getting pizza at the West Seattle location for quite a long time, but the drive was horrendous with the bridge closed and it's take out only. I was so excited when I found out a location was opening in Edmonds which is much closer to my house, so I decided to wait for this to occur. I admit being intrigued by the fact that you have to order your pizza months in advance and can only do it when they post that openings are available. I started following their instagram and many months later I had my first pizzas. I really appreciate the variety of vegan options and the prices seem comparable to most pizzas these days. I figured this would be a novelty thing that we would try once just to say we did it, but other than having to wait a few minutes past our pick up time and the fact that they give you no reminders the experience was pretty awesome. I had not expected there to be bathrooms and places to sit inside this location, it's downtown Edmonds so parking is not great. We opted to take our pizza elsewhere to eat it, but not sure if they want you to dine in here. Lots of people were standing around waiting for our Friday night pizza pickup. I later heard that if you show up right at 4 you might be able to get a walk in pizza, but not sure if this is true. It seemed like you can walk in for soft serve. My vegan pepperoni pizza was so good, I feel like I have forgotten all the pizzas I have eaten in my life before, but currently I feel this is the best pizza I have ever had. I really like the thick crust and all the flavors. We ate half right away and heated up the rest in the oven later, I appreciated the reheat instructions. My partner had the Mr Pig and is also a huge fan. We started talking about what we would order next time while having our first bites. Unfortunately when we tried to reorder for some time 2 months from now, but it did not appear to be open ordering time. We're still hoping to get pizza in July, he's getting the crab, but I am planning to make a last minute decision.

Yelp
I actually first heard of this place from my previous coworker who lives in Spokane! So when we moved to Edmonds over the summer we knew we had to try it. I think they used to be order online only and it was like a three month wait but now you can walk in to order same day as long as they have pizzas available! I went in on a random weekday and was able to order a Mr. Pig to-go. It takes about 30 minutes or so for your order to come out but you can order drinks or ice cream while you wait. Their pizzas are deep dish pizza style so even though it looked pretty small, it was pretty filling and enough for two people! Definitely try them out if you're in the Edmonds area!

Yelp
I recently saw a TikTok where a woman in Seattle was talking about a pizza she ordered months before pick up, and I felt so in-the-know because I was sitting on an order for April that I placed back in January or February. MOTO is going from IFKYK to fully mainstream with their pizza featured at T-Mobile Park. Is it worth the wait? The MRPIG with lechón kawali and a calamansi chimichurri sauce definitely was. The caramelized fattiness of the lechón with the sweet tang of the calamansi chimichurri sauce was out of this world--and a unique flavor combo that we haven't had before. We also loved the Adobo and the All-In. The pick up was schedule for 5:15 and we waited just a bit past that to receive our pizzas. In the meantime I took in how cute the place is. There is definitely a community vibe with lots of walk ins, and -- it seems -- repeat customers. The walls are colorfully painted and there's a loveseat that makes for great Insta moments. Looking over the menu later, I noticed that even their salads sounded delicious. I'll be back to try other flavors and hope to get one of their house-made ice cream cones as well.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I went here to finally check out what the hype was about. I must say, this pizza is some of the most greasy pizza I've ever eaten. If that's your jam, by all means - but for me it was too much. I could only muster one piece or one quarter of the pie. We went for happy hour which was one pizza, and 2 rainiers (or Jones soda) for $20. Would I return? Not if I had my choice. Just not my thing. It was busy though so some folks def enjoy it. The menu is full of interesting combos of toppings if you have an adventurous pallet. I didn't see a veggie pizza which is typically my go to. I'm glad I gave it a go, but would rather stick to Niles Peacock for some pizza that feels a little healthier and lighter.

Yelp
MOTO pizza truly captivated my taste buds! While I'm not an avid pizza enthusiast, the buzz around Moto prompted me to give it a shot. The pizzas were so amazing that I found myself returning for more the next week. The crust has a perfect crunch, complemented by a delightful blend of cheesy and a light, fluffy dough. It has the perfect ratio between the toppings, sauce, cheese, and dough! Each pizza at Moto has distinctive and captivating flavors that set them apart from other places. My faves are KISSD and Shrimp!
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
If you like Detroit pizza or want to try unique flavors, pre-order at Moto's. I pre-ordered 2 months in advance however you can also try your luck in person. The Wednesday I went, they opened at 4pm but sold out at 6pm. Can't recommend any particular pie as they're all pretty unique and have their own special however everything was pretty good! Will definitely come back! FYI set a reminder when your pre-order is ready since you won't get any notification even on the day of. Also, there's 5 booths for indoor seating which you can dine in for your pre-order or in person order.

Yelp
Moto pizza is definitely worth the hype and the wait! I ordered three months in advance for an 8:30pm pick up time in Edmonds. I'm not sure if that is the only time available or if you can get it earlier but oh well. When I went to pick up the pizza the people working were soooo nice and so smiley which instantly put me in a good mood! It was definitly so hard to choose which ones to get but I think I made some good choices! I tried to get more unique ones over the simple ones. Mr Pig - soooo good. Especially when you get a chunk of pork belly (I do with there was more of an even amount spread out but it is a nice lil surprises) the lime sauce on this is *chefs kiss* Shrimp - tied for my fave with Mr Pig. It says it's spicy but I didn't feel an ounce of spice lol. I loved this one and when I would get a bite of pineapple. The lil shrimpers were pretty small tho Crab - sooo good! A lot of crab and I loved the lemon. tyme, dill on it. So unique and delish Clam Chowdah - delish!! Not that much clam though All in all, I liked being able to try them all. I liked that it wasn't super super deep dish where it was soupy, still had a great crunch. We reheat it when we got home since it is a 30 min drive, I do wonder if it would've been better super fresh out of the oven but I thought it was amazing and definitely worth the wait! I can't wait to try the other ones.
google avatar

Carolynn T.

Yelp
I somehow managed to snag an order with only a 3 day wait back when they had an order glitch. I picked up two flavors: MR PIG and KISSD. The crust is great - it's nice and chewy, cheesy, and holds up really well with all the toppings that are piled on. I preferred the KISSD flavor over the other one, because none of the flavors over power of the others, and you still get the traditional hint of the pepperoni and sausage. I didn't really enjoy the MR PIG because of all the sauces added to the top. There was one that was especially sweet and reminded me of crushed pineapple, but I think it was the lime sauce. Any time I got a bite with some of that sauce in it, that's all I could taste, which took away from the specialty of having pork belly on a pizza, not to mention it was cold sauce added to a hot pizza, so the temperature difference only highlighted how the flavors didn't always align. The bites that didn't have the sweet sauce on it were pretty good, though, and my family and I still managed to finish it off! Would I say it's worth a month+ wait? Mm maybe once. But I think it's more the exclusivity of this pizza that draws customers and not necessarily the flavors.
google avatar

Nathan T.

Yelp
What everybody wonders, is the pizza worth the wait? We waited for about 6 weeks since placing the order. We ordered the Mr Pig, Shrimp, and Beef Adobo. The pizzas are rectangles and sliced into fourths. All three had excellent flavors and the Detroit style sourdough crust is a wonderful change. This was worth the foodie experience. I would come back if the wait was much shorter.

Kristen L.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Moto after hearing all the rave reviews. I put in my order a month ahead of time and got the Mr. Pig and Crab. Both pizzas were pretty good, but next time I'll skip the Crab and try the Kissd instead. I loved the crispy edges. I think 1 pizza is enough to feed 2, but the pizzas reheated well in the air fryer, so I don't mind having leftovers. So... was it worth the wait? Fortunately, it really wasn't difficult for me to secure my order. I follow them on Instagram, and saw a notice about pre-orders opening, and was able to place mine without issue. But if you miss out on the pre-order I wouldn't sweat it. I learned that you can actually just walk in and order pizzas at the counter through a touchscreen. I'm not sure if the night we went was an anomaly, but it wasn't a hassle getting an extra pizza around 8:00 p.m. on a Thursday. Of course, ordering in advance ensures you'll get what you want, but I don't mind rolling the dice, and just eating elsewhere if they're out of pies. This was my first time in downtown Edmonds, and there are a lot of other places in the neighborhood I'd like to try. One thing to point out is there is room to dine in. You can order canned drinks and ice cream at the counter too, and they'll bring the pizza out to you. Staff was also very friendly.

Yelp
Moto is our go-to pizza spot in Edmonds! You can order online weeks in advance or just walk in. If you walk in, get there early. They only take so many walk ins. We always go when they open and the pizza is SO worth it. We love the Plant and Pepperoni. The crust is crunchy and caramelized and the sauce is the perfect savory component. Service is always great- the workers are super friendly and ordering is so easy. Pizza usually comes out fast and we're never waiting too long. Check them out!!

Yelp
Pizza was good. Service was great. Restaurant was charming. My friend told me about this pizza place and I was surprised when I ordered it online, it was a pre-order. After waiting for close to 2 months, finally got it. It was good! I'll try other flavors when I order next time.

Yelp
When I heard about Moto, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I had to order my pizza (expensive) over a month in advance. At any rate, the day came around and I for sure thought that this would just be another hyped up place. Yes and No. This is deep dish "artisan" pizza. You will not find NY style pizza here, so move along. I don't recall everything that we ordered at this point but nothing stood out as so AMAZING to the point I need to wait months to eat it. Is it different? Yes,. They have pizza toppings that you wouldn't think of getting on a pizza and somehow, it works. The sauce they use, however, was a stand out in my book. Their ice cream is amazing. I wish that more places had a flavor burst machine. Takes me back to the days at the beach.

Yelp
This place is something really special. As New York transplants, my fiancé and I take pizza very seriously. I had serious doubts if I could like Detroit style pizza as much as my beloved NY slice but Moto Pizza changed the game. We're on a mission to try every non-vegan pie of theirs. So far each one we've had has been incredible and unique and delicious. From the smokey deliciousness of the clam chowdah, to the delicate crab pizza, to the absolutely addictive spicy sweet kiss'd, there's not a bad pie in the bunch. My personal favorite is the root, with mushrooms, onions and black olives drizzled with balsamic glaze. It's creamy, earthy, savory and sweet. Amazing. We also adored the black garlic cheesy bread. The jammy black garlic goes so well with zesty lemon and cheese, it's so complex yet so simple. The only pies we haven't yet tried are the plant, beef adobo, and spicy shrimp - we'll be fixing that soon. And trying the soft serve, if we can ever leave room for it with the amazing pizza!!

Yelp
This was my second time ordering 3 months in advance from Moto Edmonds (1st time in their West Seattle location). The pizza here is simply amazing! The crust is crispy and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. I ordered the Mr Pig and the Crab. I highly recommend trying the Mr. Pig pizza, which is loaded with bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. I ordered the Crab as it was great the first time, however the second time I was a little disappointed as there was way less crab than the first time. But the restaurant has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Really liked the crust and tomato sauce. The clam chowder flavor ended up being a surprise hit - really tasty cheese and garlic chili flavor going on beyond just the seafood. Wasn't disappointed with any of the flavors we tried (beef adobo, Mr. Pig, kissd, crab, clam chowdah). Worth a drive, and downtown Edmonds has lots of other cute shops and dessert places to visit afterwards.

Yelp
Insane vegan pizza I'm still perplexed by how realistic their vegan cheese was. They should change all the cheese to vegan I don't think anyone would notice.

Yelp
Yay!!!! A second location!!!!!! I'm super excited there's a new location closer to me and this time around, I didn't have to wait that long hahah I pre order a couple weeks ago and was able to snag a pizza for dinner last night. The place is located in the busy area of Edmonds and it's definitely a different vibe as the west Seattle one. More diner vibe inside but definitely bigger. Another difference about this one is that they do take walk ins!!!! But it can be a wait, we got there around 5 and there was people trying to order pizza the day of, and it was 2+hours for it... We got the beef Adobo pizza which is new to us and each of the components were really good. I'm not sure if they compliment each other though. The pizza itself is still the nice soft doughy texture that ti love. The owner The owner stopped by to say hi and even gave us a free ice cream!!! He wanted to thank is for being a committed customer :) The ice cream has this chocolate McDonald's dipped cone thing sprinkled on top so it gives it a crunch so it was pretty good! Overall, excited for the new location and can't wait to try a new Flavor next time!

Yelp
I live in sf and come up and visit family up here. Randomly decided to give it a stop and I'm so glad I did. I've been here a few times now. This place specializes in Detroit style pizza. Bring your appetites, this pizza is filling. I've had the pepperoni, strong choice, can't go wrong with classic. Came back and tried the clam chowdah and it was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend giving it a try. The chowdah swauce was sooo good and that hot chili garlicky oil! The clam and bacon was a great combo. What I want to say about both pizzas: The crust. The crust! It's perfectly chewy and soft on the inside with a brilliant crisp on the bottom. Idk if you've ever had Detroit pizza crust where the crunch hurts your teeth, but I hate that. This crust was perfect. Yes, the chowdah swauce is special, but the pepperoni pizza had a sauce that could hold its own. Both pizzas satiated my lust for cheese. So much cheese! This place is on the expensive side and if you're used to seeing large round pizzas, these rectangles may look small to you. Looks are deceiving because two slices will fill you up. I can't imagine finishing one of these pizzas by myself comfortably. P.S The soft serve hits the spot and the people working are nice.

Yelp
The online orders have long been sold out and I just can't seem to get on their website fast enough to place an order a month ahead. It seems like MOTO pizza has developed a cult following for their "odd pizza." I had long given up my opportunity to give it a try when we just happened to be in downtown edmonds. Even if I can't place an order, I still wanted to check out the place so I dragged my family of four in a freakishly freezing weather in February to MOTO - Edmonds for a "field trip." Alas, they do allow walk-ins! Even more amazing was the fact that they were able to take my order right there! I might've let out a tiny scream as if I saw a K-pop idol star on the street. I went to their ordering counter and with their friendly and smiling guidance, I placed an order for two pizzas: Mr. Pig and Pepperoni. While we were waiting for our pizzas, we checked out their interiors. It looked very retro and inviting. I believe this used to be a burger place that was never really open. It is great to see that Edmonds now has another cool place for folks to experience unique cuisine. The wall graffiti-like art looked very interesting and there were tables and chairs available as well. We took home the infamous pizzas. Mr. Pig was very interesting. I had never had a pizza with pork belly as a topping. I am Korean and we eat pork belly on Korean BBQ grills all the time. But seeing the Filipino pork belly on a pizza felt very weird to me but it made sense to me as they advertise themselves as a purveyor of the "odd pizza." And the taste was odd as well. It was sweet. It was a bit sour. It was a bit chewy. Every time I bite, it tasted a bit different from the previous bite. It was an interesting experience. Their pepperoni pizza felt more familiar and had classic pepperoni pizza taste. The crust was fantastic and we enjoyed both pizzas. When it comes to pizza, things get very personal and my preferences lean towards classic Neapolitan pizzas. For that reason, I personally found the whole experience interesting, rather than earth-shattering. We are, however, looking forward to trying other pizzas on their menu!

Yelp
I want to warn you first by saying that I am not a biggest Detroit-style or Chicago deep dish fan, so I can't properly enjoy the crust. Please take that account when reading my review. Since I am human, I have heard about the insane waits to get a Moto pizza. I didn't realize they do walk-ins, so I was caught off guard when I walked by after having a bunch of ice cream. As any responsible adult, I decided to order a pizza anyways. Who knows when I next will have the chance? Since I was kind of full, I opted for a more "classic" (at least for this spot) flavor, the "kissd", which is pepperoni, sausage and hot honey. I enjoyed the flavor of the pizza, but it didn't shock me out to try to order the pizza months in advance. Perhaps, I should have ordered a more "special" flavor, such as the "Mr Pig". The main letdown for me was that I wasn't a huge fan of the crust. I expected the corners to be more "crispy" with the cheese since that is the part of Detroit style pizza that I do enjoy. It kind of just felt soggy and meh even after I tried to reheat it in my oven. Despite not being a Detroit style fan, I feel like I prefer other spots for a Detroit style pizza that is more to my preference. With all of this said, I will be back to try one of their more unique flavors and likely change my tune.

Yelp
Came in for a late lunch/early dinner. This restaurant is very spacious and has a handful of booths for seating. Parking is always tricky in that area, but we were able to find a spot a few blocks away. My daughter ordered the vegan pepperoni and I ordered the vegan root. Each order came with four good size pieces of pizza. The dough was very thick and buttery. The pepperoni on my daughter's pizza was burnt to hell. I'm not sure how no one noticed or maybe they just didn't care. She said she enjoyed hers though. For me, I thought the pizza was all crust and sauce, not much on the toppings. Luckily, the sauce was delicious. There seemed to be a constant stream of customers. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a nice neighbourhood feel here. I'm not sure if I would come back, not because the food was bad, but it just wasn't my thing. My suggestion is come out and try this place for yourself. The vibe is good, the portions are great and the food is worth trying. It wasn't my thing but it might be yours.

Yelp
Oh Moto, how happy we are you opened another location that had availability within a month and not 3!! YAAAAY!! If you do not know about this place then let me introduce this great pizza place, they use a 100 year old sourdough started "Betty" for all their pizzas and it's closer to a Detroit style pizza People I don't like bready pizza, I am that person who leaves the crust. I never NEVER leave anything with these pizza's Let's get to the pizza!! Cheese 10/10 classically good Root 10/10 insane Beef Adobo 11/10 wait what!! Look their pizzas speak for themselves, the waitlist speaks for itself and yes we've gotten the pizza from the Seattle location as well and the quality is the same. Oh btw they have an ice cream cone, umm I didn't get to try the cone (only the ice cream) but guys get the cone and let me know!!

Yelp
The best Detroit Style pizza west of the Mississippi. Detroit's Buddy's Pizza should be honored that Moto duplicated their pizza here in Edmonds. We will most definitely eat at Moto's again.

Yelp
"Odd Pizza" - concur. Like Asian fusion pizza. Maybe Marco Polo would more appreciate this odd combo of thick and deep breast crust topped with salty pasty sauce and not enough but still baked in cheese. But you won't likely find me popping up here often. If I go back, I'll stick with one cheese to share with my daughter. What we ordered: one cheese, one veg. Friends ordered: one pepperoni Veg included pickled onion, arugula, and black sesame cheese atop pasty tomato sauce with a hint of cheese baked over 2" of bread. Very odd indeed. But for $16 a pop, I'd rather get a full cheese pizza of her consistently favorite bready one at Costco for quite a bit less, and feed the whole family twice. My friend shared similar reactions with me over our home patio pizza with our girls. And we've been insanely thirst for almost 24 hours since eating it. I really wish Eviva had gotten this restaurant space. I miss their European style wood fired pizza and salad and gelato and great beverage selection in Edmonds so much. What did pleasantly surprise me was the friendly staff talking walk up ordering; the fact that there is finally a restaurant in this long-unused prime space in Edmonds; decent ambiance from short observation at least east counter ordering; plus the short 15 minutes punctual wait time. Receiving the text that it was ready literally as I was walking back to their door while my 15:00 cell phone timer was going off was a huge win. That definitely helped with post matinee movie kiddo dinner time hunger pangs for an overall successful of expensive mother-daughter date. Faster from ordering to in hand than I could have boiled and served pasta with butter and sprinkle cheese. And I was out of sprinkle cheese. So I consider it a win so 3 stars, but no more because not worth returning to me.

Yelp
really great deep dish! you can walk in at this location but the only sell the half pan, and only in about 4 flavor varieties. at least there's no massive wait to acquire though so good if you're just trying to pop in for a non specific flavor.

Yelp
Yummm!! Great pizza, the crust is still crunchy after reheating. Flavor-wise, Mr. Pig wins, the sauce they have on there is soooo good. Skip Crab, buy Mr. Pig!

Yelp
I had the lunch (half) sized Kissd pizza and my partner had the lunch Cheese pizza for dinner. The Detroit style pizza was super good - cheesy and buttery and with a much sweeter pizza sauce than I was expecting. The burnt cheese crust around the edge hit the spot. Overall I liked the Kissd better than the plain Cheese, I think due to the bit of hot honey that comes on it. If I were to skip the sausage and go cheese in the future I'd get it with hot honey added. We'll be back to try some of the other creations!

Yelp
I was so glad i got a chance to finally try this place. I ordered the beef adobo and crab ones for togo. To be honest I don't think they're worth the hype. Sure their pizzas aren't bad but it's not like "oh my God, this is so good". Considering the price point, there are definitely better places out there.

Yelp
Crust soooo good! When eating pizza, generally I don't care about the crust, it's the topping that counts. But Man! Moto changed my view, their crust is fluffy and crunchy at the same time, so so delicious. We liked the 3 pizza we got, the pig, the everything, and the pepperoni. But the pig and the special sauce is definitely our favorite, only complaints are the pizza is a bit greasy, for people who always try to lose a pound or two, moto pizza is the cheap meal of the mouth. Also, there can be a bit more pork on the pizza too. We will definitely go to Moto again when we have pizza cravings! Being a Edmonds resident, so happy they are here!
