Le Moulin

"This former watermill is a charming place to experience the beauty of the Ardennes, starting with the view of the babbling river and the typical façade. Inside, cosiness is the order of the day. This is a family-run business, with a mother-and-son team providing friendly service front-of-house. In the kitchen, chef Ludovic puts a subtle modern spin on his father Jean-Pierre's classic cuisine – savour a rich game consommé with venison shank, or scallop ceviche. Foodies will be delighted by the extensive à la carte selection and set menus. Quiet guestrooms available for a pleasant overnight stay." - Michelin Inspector

The hotel was good but the road was narrow to access there. It wasn’t good choice for everyday commute

Well, where to start? I spent my Christmas eves there for almost 10 years, then went to live abroad and came back after 8 years, now with wife and kids. Nothing changed. It's still the same super high quality restaurant, same friendly family owners which knew me as a teenager and now get to know both my kids born in Canada. The food is entirely homemade, from the bread to the croissants and, obviously the restaurant meals. Everything is top notch. Lots of memories here and it's so nice to see a place you love, stay family owned (the sons are getting more and more involved) and far from the big foreign groups that buy every hotel in Belgium. I highly recommend and hope to come back again.

We stayed 1 night in this hotel.||The hotel is situated in a unique location on the banks of the river Lesse. We were lucky with the weather and we enjoyed a cocktail in the garden, meters from the river. ||The staff is very friendly, both in the hotel and in the restaurant.||The hotel boast a wellness area with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and hammam. The hammam was out of order however and the swimming pool was a very old pool with a new, plastic lining. As the lining had detached here and there, parts of the original pool were visible and it wasn't a particularly pretty sight...||We had diner at the restaurant. The food was good, not very innovative (but you wouldn't expect that in the Ardennes), but tasty and well prepared.||The breakfast was presented as a buffet with a limited choice. The bread and danish were freshly baked and the coffee was good! In all we had a very enjoyable stay

Great historic watermill. Friendly owners and staff. Comfortable modern and spacious rooms. Hotel isolated in the woods and very quiet. Beautiful surroundings and villages. Great food and superb half-board deal. Wine list way too expensive, like everywhere in Belgium, you can count the price of an extra table mate for the price of the beverages...

Stunning setting with forest all around and next to a small stream. Our room is somewhat dissapointing as it seems very new and unfinished. The meals in the restaurant are excellent with fantastic service

I was impressed the moment I spotted the auberge as I walked down the hill. An imposing old building immaculately kept surrounded by beautiful gardens.|At check in Bridget ( the delightful owner) was expecting me and met me with a smile.|Immediately she drove over to Redu to pick my wife up as she could not continue the transardennaise walk due to injury.|Our room was on the top floor. It was huge with a beautiful soft bed and pillows. It had views to the side over the garden and to the front.|The room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was large with separate bathtub that made good use of.|To relax in a lounge by the river and enjoy a refreshment brought to you by the highly professional Tomas is one of the joys here.|Dinner is a formal affair. Bridget's husband is the chef and he takes fine dining seriously. He does extremely good traditional dishes using local game when available. There is no doubting this as there was still a pellet of buckshot in the duck!|His son is sous chef and does the desserts. We had a berry sorbet on meriengue with soft merengue over. It was a taste sensation and the perfect dish to cap the meal.|We matched wines and found them a good selection with the champagne to end with the sorbet being brilliant.|Bridget speaks good English and it was a delight to deal with her and chat with her sister who was visiting at the time.|The whole auberge is a family affair and they put in a lot of effort and love to make it so wonderful.|I unhesitatingly recommend moulin de daverdisse to you.

Stayed near Godinne in Belgium. Had some work close by. ||||Booked this hotel at the last minute. Its in the middle of nowhere, and was not expecting it to be so far from my appointment. ||||However, what a wonderful little place. Rooms perfect, top notch! ||really quite setting, next to a beautiful little river, seats outside next to the river. You could really do some thinking there. ||||The bonus for me was the food. Being a vegetarian in Europe can sometimes be frustrating. The menu looked amazing for a meat eater, but I asked the owners if they could make something for a vegetarian. Turns out the owner who is also the chef, was an expert on vegetarian food. Wow!!! best meal I have had in a long time. ||||Thanks.||||Only issue was the Wi'Fi, in the rooms was not good, so worked mostly downstairs in the lobby. ||||Great place

We heard about The Moulin the Daverdisse in the Belgian Ardennes (more specific the beautiful Famenne region) as being a top place to stay and to eat.||Iff the rooms were acceptable and clean (do not expect this in the so called Chambre Prestige with odd smiling floor carpet), the welcome at this well situated hotel (in a charming little valley surrounded by woods) was rather cool.||One was almost forced to order drinks when relaxing in the bar (it rained, so we couldn't sit at the terrace).||Rergarding the restaurant only one word can describe it "all in": disastrous. Food and service were a catastrophe. The worst we ever experienced. Never again!
