The dining room is not very large, so for parties greater than 4 people, it's hard to get a table without a reservation. For our party of 6, we didn't have a reservation since we were driving from very far away and couldn't pin down our timing, so initially we were told to go to the other side of the lodge's check-in desk for first-come-first-serve seating at the Kicking Horse Lounge for guests without reservations. After waiting 30 min and still no seats opened up at the Kicking Horse Lounge, it was getting late, past 7:30pm, and there happened to be one table of 6 that was still empty at Mount Burgess, so the server seated us even without a reservation. We ordered the foie gras & duck confit brulee appetizer (which tasted like a dessert!), grilled lamb chops, Brome Lake duck breast, Atlantic salmon, and Alberta beef tenderloin as our mains; and the molten cake and the raspberry curd tart as desserts. The beef tenderloin and lamb chops were absolutely amazing, very flavorful and tender. The Brome Lake duck breast was very interesting, complex, and delicious. The salmon was nice and tender. The raspberry curd tart was very good and not too sweet. The molten chocolate cake unfortunately was no longer "molten" (more like a solid) by the time it was served to us. We waited an extremely long time between our appetizer and mains, and between our mains and dessert. We were already tired from all-day driving to get to Emerald Lake Lodge, so waiting a long time for a table, and then waiting a long time in between courses added to our exhaustion. Overall the food was great, the ambience was great, but just be prepared to wait.
