Google
This is an absolute must visit for D.C! I ordered the Sweet Cream, and it was delicious. The ice cream is thick and you can really tell they make it themselves. They also have a ton of interesting flavors, one of my friends got the Basil, and all of them seem to great. I got 1 1/2 scoops for 6 dollars, which is honestly not bad given the quality. Highly Highly recommend.

Google
Found this place from searching "best ice cream in DC" and was not disappointed! The staff were very friendly and we really enjoyed their enthusiasm about the homemade waffle cones (worth the up charge!). I got a "single" of the Callebut chocolate with the blueberry sour cream crumble as my extra half scoop. Talk about a delicious combo! The blueberry flavor was refreshing and the chocolate was rich without tasting powdery like some chocolate ice cream. What really stood out to me was the sour cream crumble, that mixed with the chocolate? Superb! The price is high but the quality matches. As others have stated they don't offer samples but the staff does an excellent job describing the flavors. Free street parking is available nearby. Next time I'm visiting DC this will be a must stop!

Google
Took a kid along who wanted to try an ice cream flavor before buying pretty reasonable, right? But nope, this place doesn’t allow samples. You have to buy the flavor just to find out whether you even like it. No exceptions. Their excuse? It “reduces wait times” and “saves costs.” In reality, it’s a clever little business model: eliminate choice, remove the risk of rejection, and profit whether the customer likes the product or not. Sounds a lot like a scam disguised as efficiency. But this is D.C. where the lack of real competition lets places operate like they’ve got a monopoly. Too many restaurants and shops here behave as if they’re doing customers a favor just by existing. Try pulling this kind of nonsense in cities like NYC or San Francisco, where flavor matters and service still counts. These spots wouldn’t last a week.

Google
Fantastic ice cream, I really like the chewier texture of their ice cream. I wish they resumed samples but to be fair I've never gotten anything that wasn't good. Service is always friendly and there is a good amount of seating in a nicely air conditioned space. Great place for a little break from the heat. I like to come here any time I'm in this part of DC.

Google
Solid ice cream brand with, unfortunately, major quality control issues. Ordered a scoop of the peach and a pint of their Brigadeiro to go; the peach was grainy and badly frozen, while the Brigadeiro was half melted right there in the shop (luckily I only had to walk a bit to get it to a freezer). I love some of their flavors, but with no samples and bad quality control, you pay a premium price with no clue whether you'll get a premium product.

Google
the thai tea ice cream is SOOOOOOOO GOOD. it tastes just like the best thai tea you’ve ever had, except in ice cream form. also the cardamom in it is so perfectly spiced & it just makes you feel so luxurious…. the kulfi flavor is less phenomenal in my personal opinion, but then again they also have a sign saying that that flavor’s not for everyone.

Google
No samples???? Ice cream is by far my favorite dessert, and Mount Desert Island is one of the best in the city….. BUT there are no samples! They have an interesting selection of flavors I’ve never seen presented as ice cream but Ive been quite shy to go out on a limb to order a scoop of something I’ve never tasted before. I imagine I’m not alone as customers in the parlor often share my sentiment. While the blueberry crumble is delicious, I’m not always in the mood for it. On those days I take my ice cream fix elsewhere. How I wish I could taste all of the flavors. I certainly would go far more often. I say, bring the samples back ! At the very least during the less busy times of day, or host a tasting party. I love that you have stepped out on a limb to offer more than the basic flavors, but stop teasing us with those catchy descriptions, we want to TASTE it! Proof of work is real people! Love, Your loyal blueberry crumble, but hoping for something new, fan! 💜

Google
All of the reviews mentioning wanting samples management please listen!! There are a bunch of really interesting flavors that I haven’t tried because the cost and risk is high. I’ve spent my money on a couple of underwhelming flavors here before so I’m not inclined to take that risk anymore. I would even pay for a 3-spoonful flight or something like that if they’re really dedicated to the no samples thing. Just give people a way to try your weird flavors!! You WILL sell more!!! I tend to choose somewhere else when I’m craving ice cream because of the lack of samples here. All that aside, the ice cream is pretty good, and not too sweet.

Yelp
Great ice cream! Definitely recommend getting a flight and splitting with a friend. So far, I've tried the following: - Chocolate mint - my favorite flavor by far here! It's chocolate ice cream with mint cookie bits (taste like Girl Scout mint cookies). SOOOOO good. - Hibiscus - not much there flavor-wise, quite light, and the sorbet texture is kinda weird. Least favorite flavor so far. - Paloma (grapefruit) - light and refreshing - Champurrado (cinnamon chocolate) - pretty okay, not our favorite - Four oranges of the apocalypse - really enjoyed this flavor. Delightful, smooth, and both creamy and zesty - Watermelon sorbet - Real strawberry - very creamy and does taste like strawberry, but fruit ice cream isn't really my thing anyway...

Yelp
Charming ice cream spot with some unique flavors. I wanted to try them all but I compromised and got a flight which comes with 4 flavors. Definitely appreciated that being a menu option! They have limited indoor seating but there's a nice little outdoor patio that you can sit at if the weather's nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. What a great range of flavors and absolutely incredible tasting treats! My friend and I stopped by after dinner to get dessert and we were NOT disappointed! Every flavor was delicious and we can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
I'm a longtime fan of Mount desert island and love to stop by for a sweet treat every time I'm in Mt. Pleasant! They have rotating flavors that change with a seasons as well as the classics!

Yelp
I really like their ice cream and the best part is being a local to where I live. When one of my favorite ice cream places moved out, I was heartbroken but the pandemic really put some places at a standstill and I don't blame them for leaving. I admit I discovered this place a couple of years ago while I was cruising Uber eats and this came up on my keys. I had never heard of the company nor did I know that they were a chain? I've had a variety of flavors that included girl scouts in the past, Brigaderio, Maine Sea salt caramel. Those are pretty good. On this trip. I decided to mix it up so I could try different flavors. One of them included buttermint which tasted like peppermint which was very refreshing. The other flavor I got was the strawberry one which was really good. The other two flavors I got were the blueberry basil and the berry swirl coriander which I thought was my favorite on this trip. I typically get the pints so I can havd them throughout the week. I'm glad to see that they're open till 10:00 pm during the week which really helped top off my night:)

Yelp
Solid ice cream spot with unique flavors. The ice cream is super creamery and on the thicker side, which I enjoyed. They rotate between a few flavors and have their staples they keep year round. It's a small space with a few inside seats. Only downside is they don't do samples. A bit unfortunate since I wanted to try a flavor or 2 before ordering. I personally LOVED the spiced chai. The blueberry crumble was good but think I would have enjoyed the thai coconut or the spiced thai latte more based on how the spiced chai tasted. I hope they find a way to give samples in the future. I appreciate them being cautious of the health of others but it does hinder on the experience. Looked at other reviews and the same was said about the lack of samples. Never heard of an ice cream place not offering samples...

Yelp
A good local ice cream shop in Mount Pleasant. I recently went here on a weekday afternoon to get a couple scoops of ice cream and was able to get my order in under 2 minutes. I got the Alfajor and Champurrado in a homemade waffle cone at a reasonable DC price ($8.25 with tax). The cone was the best part-rich, buttery, crispy, and warm. The ice cream was creamy but I had a hard time detecting the flavors, especially the alfajor.
google avatar

Calder S.

Yelp
This is a nice little ice cream shop. I had heard good things about it. They have a few seats inside but mostly it's to-go. Good selection of flavors with both normal and interesting ones. I ordered a triple and got Hojicha (roasted green tea), Thai Iced Tea, and Black Sesame for $8.53 after tax. They were all tasty although the hojicha didn't have as strong a flavor as I would have liked. The prices are pretty reasonable. Beware, they don't allow any samples. If you order a single, it's really more like 1.5 scoops and you can ask for two flavors.

Yelp
Wonderful options! Tried a flight of chocolate mint, strawberry, four oranges of the apocalypse ice creams and watermelon sorbet. I think my favorite for this sunny day were strawberry ice cream and watermelon sorbet as they both were refreshing after a looooooong run! I'd "ice cream" for Chocolate mint anytime as it's very chocolatey and minty. A hint of mint chunks are amazing within this scoop! You can't go wrong with this choice really! Four oranges of the apocalypse ice cream is nice and zesty. It'd be elevated with some orange zest! But it's smooth, light acidic and citrusy flavor. I'd come back to try seasonal flavors! Until next time! The service was friendly and quick! Staff were very hospitality and welcoming. Sitting around is nice as it's very chill to people watch from window if you're lucky to grab that seating.

Yelp
Came by on a Monday night and the sandwiches were sold out The sea salt caramel was really good as was the lemon streusel. The ice cream is creamy.
google avatar

Yelp
Tons of interesting flavors, all executed well, and a long line that moves, well, at a decent-enough clip. Vibe is totally a modern/hipster ice cream shop. They lean into the more Asian flavors, with black sesame, Vietnamese coffee, Thai iced tea, candied ginger, plus some more mainstream ones like blueberry basil (I think it was blueberry basil), sweet cream, and into outright normal ones cookies and cream. They don't do samples (which is fair and explained clearly after you enter), but all the ice creams and sorbets are delicious. Hard to blame them but the only hiccup is that there's so much gourmet ice cream out there, even ones that lean more into Asian flavors, that it's hard to truly be exceptional.
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Ice cream wasn't as smooth and creamy as others I've had, but the flavor was so good. The sesame was strong. It wasn't that sweet and really just packed a punch in my mouth. The Thai tea was okay. Not the best I've had just because it was sweeter than I prefer, but it was still pretty good. There are no samples offered, so you just have to trust that they'll be good. They have a lot of interesting flavors. I loved the diversity of flavors and wished that I could've tried more.

Yelp
Solid service. I got a triple scoop of cookies n cream ice cream for $7.45 and it was decent with the tasty cookie pieces stealing the show. The portions served were much appreciated.
google avatar

Tatiana W.

Yelp
AMAZING ice cream. The place smells like a bakery and you can tell everything is made with fresh ingredients. The service was quick and polite too! It was a bit loud, but that's more a note of how many people come for the flavors. I need to come back and try the coriander streusel.

Yelp
Large scoops with unique flavors! I think the price is reasonable. As an out of towner, I found this ice cream enjoyable! Unfortunately, they aren't doing samples as of writing this on August 2023, so you'll just have to dive in. The blueberry sour cream was enjoyable and the most popular, so we had to try it. It wasn't incredibly sour but was nice and more unique than a typical a plain blueberry flavor. We would get it again! I also got the four oranges, which I personally enjoyed but I like orange flavors. Was more on the creamy end than the fruity/tarty side as FYI. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're within vicinity, definitely come by here! The constant line is proof that they know what they're doing. Nice seating outside too if you're coming on a late summer night like we did (not covered though).
google avatar

Serena S.

Yelp
The best ice cream. Soooo good. Only con is there's usually a long line. But so worth it.
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
This is such a great place!! Service has always been great with staff that help describe all the flavors since they do not do samples. The entire look of the shop is also very cute. The single scoop is always a solid pick since you can still pick two flavors. I almost always get the Brigadeiro or Maine Sea Salt Caramel ice cream, but the 7 layer bar and peach ice creams are also great picks!
google avatar

Hayward L.

Yelp
Cool ice cream store with an interesting range of flavors as well as coffee offerings. I particularly liked the brigadeiro Brazilian chocolate flavor. The chocolate mint was also very good, the chocolate flavor comes out a lot more than the typical mint chip. Prices are high at around $6 for a small scoop. And despite the price they don't offer samples which is a bit annoying when you have so many unusual flavors.
google avatar

Jana H.

Yelp
5/5 for flavor variety, 5/5 for taste, 3.5/5 for price (super pricey, but not a surprise in a foodie town ice cream shop), and 0/5 for not giving samples (still)! And also 0/5 for a $0.50 charge for an extra spoon (so their board says)? SO many amazing sounding flavors. And even better that you can get a flight! The ice cream is not super soft and takes awhile to melt, but the taste is spot on. Super enjoyed cinnamon cardamom, hasty pudding (molasses + cornmeal), and blueberry sour cream crumble. The hasty pudding was our overall favorite out of all of them, but they were all delicious and had some extra texture/crumble pieces. Would definitely stop by for ice cream, just know you're going to be paying a lot!

Yelp
3.5* This place has been on my radar because of its high rating and feature in several guides but I wasn't blown away. The ice cream was delicious, sure, but like any other homemade ice cream shop. Got the chocolate (very rich and decadent), and blueberry sour cream crumble (sour cream didn't really come through, mostly blueberry). The shop itself is a tiny room with a tiny window, no display case, no samples! Personally samples are a key part of the ice cream experience, and I don't know if this was a Covid policy or not but regardless, missed out. They also don't have personalized cups, just plastic- for the price they could have made it more specialized. Also, staff was not necessarily rude but did not give off friendly energy and seemed like they didn't really want to be there. Given DC lacks ice cream shops, I would go again, but not because the experience wowed me.
google avatar

Breezy Q.

Yelp
I don't understand what happened to this place. I went once during the pandemic and it was great. I just went again and it was not good -- at all. I asked to sample a flavor because they have several of their own unique flavors (which people would have no experience with and would thus want to try first), and they told me that they don't do samples. That was surprising and weird, and I think this is literally the only ice cream shop I've ever been to that has such a policy. But then when I actually bought a couple of scoops (two different flavors), I understood why. If anyone tasted their ice cream before buying it, they just wouldn't buy it. It's sludgy and not creamy, and has little to no flavor. I got about a quarter of the way into my cup and then threw it away, which I've never done at an ice cream shop in my life. I'm really baffled as to how this place is still doing so well.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
I ordered a single coffee on a sugar cone. I thought it was reasonably sized! Friendly staff. Hope to come back and try some of their unique flavors. There doesn't seem to be any designated seating outside of the shop, but it seems people were sitting on the benches next door without any issues.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
I love me an ice cream flight! The flavors are unique, the interior is super clean (although I wish there were places to sit), and the staff are super helpful. I actually really like that they don't do free samples; it's an innovative way to cut down on food waste. Perfect place for a summer pick me up!
google avatar

John Y.

Yelp
The ice cream here is okay, I think they do well due to the lack of options in the area. It's been featured in many reviews and guide websites so I decided to stop by after a trip to the Zoo. I tried the blueberry sour cream crumble, cookies and cream, fresh peach, and maple walnut flavors. Honestly, the unique flavors they have are nice to try but I don't believe that this is worth the trek if you have to go out of your way to visit. The first few bites of each flavor are pretty good but after awhile they just blend together and taste the same. The location itself is alright - but they were not allowing anyone into the "main" area to order, it all had to be done at the small service window where you couldn't see any of the flavors on display. I ended up eating them on the benches outside of the place that had a less than pleasant atmosphere and smell for the ice cream experience. The service was also a big meh. The staff was really curt and didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Not a big deal, but if there are no samples, no visible display shelf, and non-descriptive flavors it's a bit difficult to pick stuff out. I'll probably not be coming back, but like I said at the beginning, due to the ice cream options in the area I don't think they'll have any reason to change anything and will continue to do well.

Yelp
i came here with a friend today and I absolutely adored our visit! The shop is a tiny room with not much space. The person who rang us up was very nice although considering the price/size, I think she gave us a single instead of a double but whatever. I got basil ice cream and strawberry sorbet. The ice cream genuinely tasted like basil, it was creamy and so so good. I feel like the taste faded as I ate more of it, but I still enjoyed it. The strawberry sorbet was delicious and paired well with the basil ice cream. My friend ordered basil ice cream and strawberry ice cream and after tasting hers, I think the sorbet was a better match. I don't think the seating outside is for this shop so it is a bit of a stop-and-go visit, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream. It was $11 for the two singles, which greatly beats the prices I paid at the two gelato shops I've tried recently. I'd stop by again!
google avatar

Joanne L.

Yelp
I love this place! So many fun flavors that actually taste like what they are supposed to be. I got a single scoop of The Dude (like a white Russian) with a mini sherry Catalana on top. Super creamy texture, great flavor, not overly sweet. Both are boozy flavors but they don't taste alcohol heavy. The portion size is really good for single scoops, especially with the additional mini one on top. They don't offer tasting but the staff are very helpful in describing the flavors. Besides, I don't think you can go wrong with anything. Surprisingly I find the price ($6 for a single) reasonable for this area, given the quality and portion size. I've definitely been to ice cream places with higher price tags but not nearly as good. They have two benches outside for seating but not a lot of space. So more of a grab-and-eat-on-the-way situation.

Yelp
Best ice cream in the the DMV. Great customer service. So happy we found this place. A Must go.!!!

Yelp
The most unique flavors! We were actually hoping to try OKPB, but were added to a waitlist for that so we decided to walk over to grab some ice cream while we waited. There's no seating and it's more of a quick pickup style place but they have different flavors that change occasionally. I went with a single which gives you a full scoop and a half scoop that can either be both one flavor or two. I did the real strawberry ice cream for my full scoop and Girl Scout for my half scoop. The Girl Scout flavor was a chocolate mint with brownie pieces mixed in. Both flavors were so good! The strawberry tasted fresh and nothing like store bought ice cream, and the Girl Scout flavor was a unique take on mint ice cream. Overall I'm happy with the flavors I chose. One of my friends got the pain perdu French toast flavor which actually tasted exactly like biting into French toast which was so cool. They also got the Thai chili coconut which tasted like peanut butter and actually had a spicy aftertaste. Not sure how they did that but it was so unique! While they unfortunately don't do sample tastings I don't think you can go wrong with the variety of flavors they offer. It's a great stop and I hope to come back soon!

Yelp
Wow. Just wow! I've officially added this place to my list of amazing/best ice cream eateries. The ice cream flavors are unique, delicious, soft and creamy. I normally order Cookies & Cream wherever I go because it's my favorite, but I decided to try the Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble. To play it safe, I ordered a scoop of C+C to go with the blueberry flavor. I was not expecting the ice cream to be THAT good especially the blueberry flavor! Like, idk what to tell y'all other than to go and try it for yourself. You'll be happy that you did. I've been a few times and can say that it's consistently delicious and fresh! I'm usually stuck on C+C but I have to order the blueberry whenever I visit MDI. The prices are a bit high but I think it's worth it and something you can consider, "self care". Haha. As for the location itself, parking is limited (street parking) and the indoor area is currently closed, so you can only order takeout. They do have seating out front but it's a little tight and sometimes hard to find an open seat.
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for desert and found this spot just down the street from where we are housesitting. We split a flight with: - Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble - Real Strawberry - Butterbeer - Bay of Figs My favorite flavors were Strawberry and Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble. You could tell the strawberry ice cream was actually made with strawberries. The Butterbeer wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting. If you like unique ice cream flavors, this spot is worth checking out.
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
I felt like getting ice cream in the area and I am glad I went to this place. It is just a service window with outdoor seating. They have a ton of unique flavors that I had to try a flight that comes with 4 flavors in a tray together. The Nutella was probably my favorite with Vietnamese coffee a close second. The blueberry was good and Nuetella was solid. Great ice cream and solid portions so if you want ice cream definitely go here if you are in the area.
google avatar

Iris P.

Yelp
sadly they don't allow samples. pretty affordable price compared to jenni's or ice cream jubilee. interesting flavors for hispanic month as well. but it didn't wow me, i think because i had quite high expectations.

Yelp
Hands down one of the BEST ice creams I have had. I am quite the ice cream addict and always try to explore new shops and flavors. After having dinner in the neighborhood, some friends and I needed dessert and I knew Mount Desert would be perfect since none of us had tried it before. You know it's good when the line is already wrapped outside the door on a gloomy, humid evening. They had some unique flavors the day we went in, such as an orange tarragon sorbet, which turned out to be AMAZING (my friend got it). I was hesitant to get it since tarragon can be quite overpowering, but wow I was impressed by how well they perfected the flavors of this sorbet. I'm a chocolate type of gal and decided to get their Callebaut Chocolate and WOW- the BEST chocolate ice cream I have ever had. I'm already itching to go back and indulge on more of their flavors- probably going to get their ice cream flight next time. Do yourself a favor and check out MDIIC when you're in D.C.
google avatar

Joyce W.

Yelp
MDI never fails to surprise you with new seasonal flavors! Many delicious vegan options available The flight is a good deal and you get to try 4 flavors!
google avatar

Pam D.

Yelp
I got the Callebaut Chocolate and Champurrado scoops from Mount Desert Island Ice Cream in D.C. Very rich and creamy. Yesterday was National Chocolate Day! And my family got Tres Leches, Sweet Cream, Callebaut Chocolate, Sea Salt Caramel, Four Oranges, and Strawberry. It's a good thing this ice cream shop isn't too close to me, or I would be in serious trouble! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Lovely little place that helps make Mount Pleasant one of the most pleasant and underrated areas in town. The flavors are creamy, delicious, and very unique. Solid portions, too. They do not offer samples sadly, so choose wisely. For me, I nearly had an existential crisis deciding if I should try strawberry or pralines & cream, but ultimately I chose two others. They offer cones, but I went with a cup. Their "single" allows you to choose two flavors, one small scoop and one large scoop - I love that concept. I went with pastry porter for my small - that is an ice cream made with DC Brau porter swirled with fudge. Wow. It really just tastes like a chocolate ice cream, but it is good chocolate ice cream. For my large scoop, I had the 7 layer bar. Yummy - it boasted pieces of coconut, butterscotch, graham, and some other layers I didn't catch, but ultimately, it didn't have tons of flavor. Nevertheless, it was my favorite - it was amazingly smooth and creamy, and had a very rich sweetness that I enjoyed. I am intrigued to try more. They have a full coffee menu, too, as good as any espresso bar in town.
google avatar

Guy H.

Yelp
Just when you thought ice cream couldn't get better you find a place like Mount Desert Island. It's an unsuspecting little shop but they put out some delicious flavors of ice cream. With a good portion size for even single scoops, you can definitely get your fill. They also put out some great milkshakes that really hit the spot. Even when the line gets long (and it certainly does!), they always seem to get your order filled fast and with nothing but friendly service. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
Unique delicious ice cream with some fun island theme flavors - located conveniently right above Martha Dear (pizza and ice cream pair so well together!)! You won't find any Vanilla flavors or sprinkles here. The Girl Scouts Gone Wild is rich dark chocolate ice cream with hand-made chocolate mint cookies and tastes exactly as described - thin mint cookies. If you're a chocolate lover, go for it! The Lamington Australian-based ice cream flavor is sponge cake rolled into coconut ice cream and tastes like Almond Joy with a bold coconut flavor. Based on its description, I expected the flavor to taste like a Girl Scout Samoa cookie - which it didn't. The Lamington paired really well with the Girl Scouts Gone Wild flavor and elevated the decadent chocolate flavor - together they tastes like a Samoa cookie! I believe the petite waffle cones aren't made in-house and the ice cream is spilling out of the cone. Go with the cup! The staff is sweet and very nice. Great spot to grab some ice cream - def be back when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Came here on the basis of all the positive yelp reviews. Left underwhelmed and would not recommend. Why? The flavors are a good blend of familiar / popular hits and some new experimental ones. That's cool they try to mix up the palate. However, it's a shame they won't let you taste. The lemon poppy seed flavor I tried on a whim and it was awful. The nutella flavor tasted more like milk chocolate than nutella. The cookies and cream milkshake was so milky it didn't taste like there was much ice cream. I don't think I'd come back.

Yelp
IMPRESSED! I did no research before coming here because my friends and I were looking for something sweet after eating brunch down the street. We looked up ice cream and made the half a block walk over to Mount Desert Island Ice Cream. It's up a flight of stairs and through a door that opens to a small vestibule. There's a single window to order and a fairly extensive list of flavors and menu to the right of it. I loved the variety of flavors and options. I couldn't decide between going fresh and fruity, or if I should go for more rich flavors... ultimately I decided on a double scoop of Vietnamese Coffee & Toasted Coconut on a sugar cone. SOOO good overall, but also together. My friends also loved what they got and I'm so happy I found a new ice cream place :) Can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing options!

Yelp
OKAY WOW. I don't frequent this part of DC since it's pretty far (and not very metro friendly) from where I live, but I'm super glad I got ice cream here after dinner nearby. I'm a sucker for unique ice cream flavors and I was immediately drawn to the "Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble". I love blueberry based desserts, and I really don't see a lot of blueberry flavored ice creams so I was SUPER EXCITED. And honestly, it is most definitely worth the hype and 15 minute wait in line. My cousin and I were pretty satisfied with the ice cream here. DOUBLE SCOOP - 6.25 The pricing here is reasonable. These double scoops were big and most definitely worth the price. Obviously, we got the "Blueberry Sour Cream Crumble" which was AMAZING. There's not a strong sour cream taste which is good, in my opinion. The blueberry flavor was sweet and strong - there's no blueberry bits in it as it is really pureed in the ice cream. As for the crumbles, holy crap. I really love how they were able to mix in so many crumbles that I had at least one in every bite. And it enhanced the taste and texture of the ice cream. Absolutely wonderful - 10/10 would get this flavor again next time if they have it. For our second scoop, we got the "Vietnamese Coffee". The coffee flavor is strong and tasty, unlike other coffee ice creams I've tried. However, like Vietnamese coffee, it's very sweet to imitate the condense milk that is usually in it. I didn't love it for that reason, but would definitely recommend it to someone who loves Vietnamese coffee and condense milk. I wish I lived closer to Mount Desert Island Ice Cream because I literally would come here all the time and give them all my disposable income. Okay, maybe it's good that I don't live that close by so I can save. Anyway, that blueberry ice cream was really something else.

Yelp
I walked in with a group of my friends to order ice cream. after one friend placed his order the two foh girls started laughin, looking at us and then looking at each other. and then they were making rude comments about how they were confused who is trying to order first( fyi the seven of us ordered ) they were extremely unprofessional and straight-up bullies! we felt extremely uncomfortable and couldn't even understand what would provoke such a behavior out of them! one thing to keep in mind. we were a group of brown and middle-eastern folks!!!!!!!

Yelp
Swung by after a trip to the DC zoo. It's a bit of a walk but well worth it. Ice cream servings were pretty large too! It's a cute little shop and we sat outside on a patio to eat. Support your local small businesses!

Yelp
High quality ice cream. It may be expensive but it deserves to be priced higher. Mount Desert Island has top notch stuff. Dog friendly. They have stuff for humans too. A lot of good flavors. It also has a few sorbets. There's also an ice cream that's made with almond milk and vegan. It's about $5 for a scoop. This is pretty expensive but this about the best ice cream around, creamy and thick. I like getting the vegan peanut butter. This is full of peanut butter flavor. It has many rotating flavors. Look on the website before going. They have limited space to eat inside.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream!! Got a flight with brigadeiro, pretzel toffee ripple, cookies & cream, and strawberry sorbet. All flavors were delicious, but the pretzel toffee ripple was my favorite!! Definitely need to come back here to try more flavors. They serve out of a window so you can't really try any flavors or look at them, but good ice cream overall.

Yelp
Frustrated! They have some unique flavors, but with a policy where you can't try anything it's "rolling the dice" on spending hard earned money on something you might not enjoy. I purchased two flavors and the first was incredible, my second left me disappointed--enough so to write this review. Had I had the opportunity to try the flavor, clearly I wouldn't have purchased. Creative concept, poor execution.

Yelp
The ice cream is so delicious especially the sea salt caramel, do not eat the chocolate flavor because the texture is wired and it tastes weird too other than that I would recommend this place to anyone

Yelp
The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because they are limited on the dairy-free flavors. In a world where there are so many folks intolerant to dairy, you'd expect more restaurants to give a good amount of options for those persons but that's not the case. They have 2 fruity vegan flavors and 1 'creamy' vegan flavor (cereal milk). But I must say, this is some of the best vegan ice cream I've ever had. There's no weird aftertaste and it didn't melt fast which is a huge plus. The waffle cone is vegan (at least) so of course I ordered my scoops with it and it was very delicious. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't already!
