There Will Be Cake: A Very Detailed Guide to Road-Tripping the Canadian Rockies | Bon Appétit

"After your hike, head to nearby Mount Engadine Lodge for a Rockies-style afternoon tea. It offers charcuterie boards, cake, tea, coffee, beer, and wine from 2–5 p.m., all of which are best consumed on the massive wooden deck; if you’re lucky, you’ll spot a moose in the sprawling meadow below." - ByLindsay Anderson

From start to finish, this lodge truly has it all – from delicious meals to the coziest beds, outdoor adventures, and exceptional service. My sister and I spent two nights here.||We stayed in the Commonwealth glamping tent, which was an unforgettable experience. It was warm, and the tent itself was so unique. The lodge offers a full range of dining options, including breakfast, packed lunches, afternoon tea (hello, charcuterie board!), and dinner (3 course meal) + dessert. Every meal was delicious, but my personal favorite was the choice between savoury or sweet for breakfast – a perfect touch to start the day.||The lodge is welcoming and dog-friendly, making it an ideal spot for all kinds of guests. They also provide equipment for outdoor fun, including cross-country skis, snowshoes, and spikes. We took explored Chester Lake, and the scenery was simply breathtaking.||All in all, we had an incredible time, and I would absolutely give this place a 10/10. I can't wait to return!

This was our 3rd stay, and this most recent one was 3 nights the 3rd week of September. We stayed twice in the lodge and once in a cabin. Location can’t be beat, 10/10. Middle of the gorgeous Rocky Mountains in Kananaskis with amazing nearby hikes. Quiet. Relaxing. No cell phone service or TVs. The rooms are spacious and have the basic amenities. For the price, however, I expect daily housekeeping (I didn’t love having to ask for clean towels and toilet paper and a new jug of water). The food is now “good to very good” vs gourmet as it was several years ago. They’ve also changed to family style dining. I’d like the option of whether I share a table with others or not. I’m sure this change is to accommodate more people with the addition of the Yurts. It’s not adult only so if you’re looking for romance it has that ambience, but there are also pet dogs and kids at the lodge.

When I discovering Mount Engadine about six years ago, I started visiting on a near-monthly basis. It was the perfect out-of-the-way, restorative retreat, and offered very good value for money. The smallest lodge room could be booked for as little as $120/night — with dinner, breakfast, a packed lunch, and afternoon tea included. Although it never offered a very good sleep in comparison to the more spacious rooms, it was enough. Now that room costs $400/night, and I have stayed only once in the last year. The lodge has priced out locals and loyal customers to court international and novelty tourists. Recent renovations, the new starlink internet access, the replacement of a cozy living room carpet with vinyl flooring, and the addition of background music have further damaged the experience; it is no longer a retreat from the world, but merely an overpriced commercial experience. No one is sadder than I am to witness the decline of Engadine.

Such an easy place to enjoy. Access to great snowshoeing and skiing, regular abundant and delicious food all inclusive in the price, gorgeous views from the main lodge. The tents were comfy even when it was -20 outside.

I’ve never stayed at the lodge but have attended the afternoon tea twice over two years. It is a great experience and I made sure to include this in my trip this week. Once again I was very happy with the visit. Afternoon tea includes. A premium charcuterie board with exotic cheeses, meats and other items. Coffee, tea and dessert is included. The view at the lodge is amazing. Make a reservation for a sunny day and sit outside and eat while you enjoy a mountain view with stream and valley. Staff have always been amazing on each visit. The Caesar’s they make are wonderful. I’ve rated the rooms full stars as I have seen the accommodations and can’t image I would rate lower if I stayed there. Location is key here, if you like the outdoors and want a good base camp for your activities in the kananaskis area, this is it!

Everything at the lodge is amazing as always. In 24 hours I had both a great adventure and a really intimate and restorative experience.||||Sadie, Francisco, Florencia, and Claudio really made the experience. They all had such wonderful vibes. ||||Thank you for another great experience. :)

Can give you the perspective of a kitchen worker and a guest. As a Worker- Awful. I was cleaning dead mice, rotting food and splattered mess stains that clearly weren't touched in months. Very unhappy with what we served other that proteins. All desserts are frozen boxed. THOUSANDS of dollars of food waste. Complete disorganization and lack of care, quality or detail. Personally was used to fill a work gap, promised contact work, told everything was great after a work trial and signed for full time salary. Days after he was replacing me behind my back cut my hours and told me he cant pay me anymore, got mad when i reminded him he lied multiple times. Now as a Guest- To EXPENSIVE, TO FAR, nothing to do but hike and wifi. Lookout trail view and the stars are nice but nothing else. You have to sit with all the other guests during meals plus they do a cringe speech. they don't have much extra anything that you dont pay for. Constant language barriers, only 3 canadians there. So go LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE, unless you really like blowing money and hiking. Or like mycology

My husband and I spent this weekend in the “Writers Studio” glamping tent. Wow were we impressed! Very spacious, immaculately clean and the king bed was amazingly soft and cozy. The cuisine was very tasty with beautiful presentation and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Most importantly for us was how pet friendly Mt. Engadine is - upon arrival our dogs also had comfortable beds, bowls and yummy Mut Hut Canmore speciality cookies - they were also very impressed ! We had a great adventure and highly recommend Mt Engadine! Thank you for a great experience.
