Plenty of parking, restrooms and water make this trail head 5 star. The trails are well maintained, well marked with maps available at the visitors center. Nice views from various summits along the way.. would be nice if overnight parking was allowed for multi-day backpacking trips

Did the mount norwottuck loop- great hike. Challenging on the way up but excellent payoff with these spectacular views, and pretty easy on the Robert frost trail back to parking. Really robust visitor center with the nicest and most helpful rangers you’ll ever meet.

Nice place to hike, enjoy the outdoors. I have to come back as I did not have enough time to get to the top of the Bare Mountain and enjoy the view. Stay tuned! Here i am back into the outdoor adventure, finally made it to the top of Bare Mountain. It is a beautiful scenic panoramic view and relaxing.

Very lovely and well kept trails with great views. A bit hazy due to the Canadian wildfires so we have to come back another time ☺️

I like this park. I hiked mt norwottuck and bare mountain across the street. Came up one early spring day and captured the leaves in bright green. It took me about 45 min to an hour to peak. Able to see the red barn of Hampshire College and umass.

This is my favorite park in Massachusetts. Easy to access as it's not far from I-91 and the amherst/Springfield areas. The park itself is huge and has many trails. The White blazed Metacomet-Monadnock trail is the highlight as it traverses the entire ridgeline/range, offering both challenging climbs and terrain as well as several nice views. The side trails are darker, more pine trees and are easier but far less traveled. Great place to go for a long run or hike.

Tough little hike to start. Robert Frost Trail is much easier. Trails are marked clearly and they provide maps if needed.

The trails here are absolutely stunning and very challenging, but sadly the trails at the time that we went were totally iced over and made it impossible to scale Bare mountain. However, we are going back soon because we want to conquer the trail! My friend sustained minor injuries on the trail that ended up needing stitches, and this was due to the ice and rocks. I recommend this area for people who are looking for a challenge. The views are worth it!

Yelp
Lots of options for different hikers, with similar but slightly-different views throughout the range. Bare Mountain and Hitchcock Mountain are personal favorites and can be made into a 3.5ish-mile loop with the Robert Frost Trail. I did have one weird experience here with a guy who was acting fishy. As a solo female hiker, I find that the further into the backcountry you go, the safer you are, as all the other people out there are committed hikers, too. Since all of these trails are fairly accessible, you can meet just about anybody out there. I'd recommend a personal alarm or hiking with a buddy (which, as a woman, is unfortunately just good practice, anyway).

Yelp
My friend and I started our 6 mile hike here by climbing up Bare mountain and then making our way over the 7 sister peaks. We left a car at the other end (bottom of Mt. Holyoke) so that we didn't have to make our way back the same way. This was a great hike because instead of just one peak and view, we got a bunch (not really 7 views). The path is well marked and maintained throughout. We followed the white trail the whole way. It's nice to be able to enjoy the outdoors and not feel like you're going to get lost along the way. Definitely a great long but easy hike.

Yelp
Lots of different options for different kinds of hikers. Bare Mountain is close to the parking on 116 and is a great, short hike that's a little steep but not too hard. On the other side of 116 there are lots of trails to choose from (see the web site). The Horse Caves is a nice location in the center of the park.

Yelp
Great place to go for a hike. You can hike a short distance or long. We decided to hike bear, my friend also brought her dog. It was a little steep and lots of rocks so becareful but the view at the top was breath taking. We could even see Hartford, it was a beautiful day!
