One of the best bagels I've ever had, also one of the largest bagels I've ever had. The jalapeno cream cheese was phenomenal. I wish they sold that by the pint! I visited while traveling for work. Great stop and one bagel is more than enough to fill you up!

Amazing food at good prices. No nonsense ordering. I ordered bagels to go for traveling with intent to freeze them and the workers gave me a freezer bag and some tips to properly freeze for best quality. I have since thawed them out and started eating them and they're still fantastic! This used to be my go-to bagel spot. I don’t know if it’s because they are so busy or what but there’s a different issue every time we come here. Today it happened to be burnt Taylor ham. Last time it was egg shell in my scrambled egg. Don’t get me wrong, the bagels are FANTASTIC, but I won’t be coming here for sandwiches anymore. I’ll take my bagels and make my own at home.

Visited on the morning of Juneteenth in the midst of a heat wave. These folks were working their hearts out to provide amazing bagels, delicious eggs, hot coffee, and personal service. There is no AC in the shop but we didn't notice because of their big smiles and sweet service. Thank you for serving the community and for make the best bagels we've ever eaten. We're sorry you had to work in such bad heat. We're grateful.

I picked up a breakfast bagel from mountain lakes bagel and it was love at first bite. The bagel was freshly baked, soft, and chewy, with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. The bacon egg and cheese was crispy and delicious. Fast and friendly service. Five stars and highly recommended!

Parking lot is small and usually busy in the morning. They have a good selection of beverages and bagels. Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel was fresh, moist and delicious. Bacon, egg and cheese was pretty good too but bacon could have been slightly crispier. Ordering and paying don’t happen at the same time. Can be confusing when you first come here. Would come back!

Very unsanitary practices by staff behind the counter. Touching prepared foods without gloves and employees wearing gloves answering the phone and operating the cash register. Cases and establishment are seedy and very unappetizing. The place needs a deep cleaning.

FRESH DELICIOUS BAGELS DONE RIGHT HERE! My husband thinks the everything’s are too salty - a lot coming from a 25 year experienced executive chef but I think they’re great. Love the sesame and pumpernickel - the blueberry has real BLUEBERRIES and lemon zest too. Amazing veggie and scallion cream cheese! I do think the egg sandwiches would benefit from a second egg and/or more cheese and seems others agree from the other reviews here. The counter help need customer service/order management training. Obviously only the best bagel stores in NJ are hopping on a weekend morning but 4 stars because no reason to yell at customers or give them bad attitude. Also would be nice to clean up the front customer waiting area and I’d pass right by the coffee! But if you’re looking for good bagels this is as good as it gets from here.

I just stopped for a classic bacon egg and cheese on an everything and I thought this place deserved immediately 5 stars. Then a quick scan of reviews I do agree this is an off the highway bagel spot so it is kind of dated. No frills. Would I say dirty per se? Probably not cause I'll keep coming back. And well I think they're pretty busy and this is a pass through shop so I don't expect people to be super outgoing as they're probably rushing through the morning rush or just people in a rush. Placed my order online. Prices are fair. The bagels...unbelievable. Bacon egg and cheese and the bacon wasn't slapped on it as very intentionally crunchy and neat if that makes sense? Everything bagel was everything. No skimpy on the seasoning. Soft and fluffy in the middle. Very good regular coffee ...you make it the way you like it yourself. Go once. Tell me I'm wrong. I'll be back

Where's the bacon? Wow just wow. Avoid if you don't want to be disappointed like I am right now. This an offense to all who know how a real BEC should be.

Come on guys. Where is the quality control lately? I always loved this place for their everything bagels and would drive out of my way to choose them over others and if you ordered a bagel with butter it was always well distributed and not skimpy. Look at the pictures - you call THIS an everything bagel?????!!? Threw it immediately in the trash and went elsewhere. Waste of time and money. Anyone who wants an everything bagel does NOT want to waste time on this.

This place is always great. They have a well running system for taking orders, payment and getting your food to you quick. The place isn't big, but they do a great job with the space. No seating inside so plan to eat your food elsewhere (typical for lots of bagel places anyway). My bacon egg and cheese on everything was great, though I do wish it was a bit more hefty.

The Mountain Lakes, Denville area seems to be blessed with excellent bagel shops and Mountain Lakes Bagels is no exception. This review is for the bagels only. Classic bagel shop making top notch NY style bagels. Perfect size, good crust, generous toppings and not too doughy.

Bagels are the best in town, in my opinion. Everything bagel and french toast are my top favorite. These bagels are super fluffy and thick. I have grown up eating these and there really is no bagels like MLB!! Their egg sandwiches are top notch - specifically taylor ham. This place does get busy, so I recommend going on an off time. You are paying for the bagel quality not the service. Love Mountain Lakes Bagel!

This place never fails. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. Everything here is so amazing, from sandwiches and salads, to bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. I love the large variety menu and drink selections. Have you ever had a muffin from here?? If not you're missing out. The cozy atmosphere is exactly a what you want to see in a Jersey bagel place. The staff always keeps the busy line going and gets you out as fast as possible. The owners are super nice always, even when being my lacrosse referee when I was back in highschool lol.

Absolute best bagels in Nj! Always baked fresh. Light and fluffy on the inside, bagely on the outside. Live their coffee, too! My favorite is the rare time when they have "blueberry cobbler"! So unusual and a real treat! And the staff is super nice! There are bagel shops closer to our house, but we always travel the extra distance for one of theirs!

Well, if you can get past the crappy attitudes and lousy customer service, the bagels aren't bad. Expensive, but I think the product is usually good. That said, after what happened to my family over the holidays with this establishment, I wouldn't necessarily trust them to give you fresh food. In response to inaccurate order taking, MLB suggested that we bring back a dozen bagels that mistakenly got added to our pickup in order to get a refund. When we said they could be brought back the next day (it WAS Christmas Day after all) we were told that would not be acceptable, proclaiming "How can we sell day-old bagels?" We were APPALLED to think they would re-sell them to anyone, not knowing WHAT we had done to them. They went on to tell us that we shouldn't have sent someone that was ignorant to pick up and pay for the order (Pickup was by one of our teenagers who was hitting it on the way to the event) The conversation turned ugly with whomever was representing this company on the phone and, quite frankly, there's no reason for us ever to return. Trust me, they aren't the only game in town. Try Church Street Bagels, not even a half mile away-- awesome bagels and AMAZING service. Two thumbs DOWN for just awful customer service and downright sketchy business practices.

Ordered pork roll egg and cheese with salt pepper Ketchup and butter on the bagel and didn't get a single thing I asked for supper disappointed

I have tried several bagel places in the area to try and find the spot, and personally I think these are the best bagels in town. This place is always busy, and there is a reason why. Even when they are busy, they are always attentive and get your order done relatively quickly. Definitely my spot for bagels!

I asked for light cream cheese, NOT no cream cheese and I still got charged regular price for cream cheese. Do better, ML bagels.

Apparently "no tomatoes" means "please put tomatoes"... didnt realize until after we got home. Called and whoever we spoke to was not helpful. disappointing.

Took a chance after flying into Newark Airport and thank god, I am so glad I did! This place is legit. They know what they're doing when it comes to bagels. Seriously, no joke! I ordered a breakfast bagel: egg, pepper jack cheese, Taylor ham (which is like pork belly) sooo good, on an everything Blitz bagel The bagel was ridiculous, that's all I can say. I have been coming here for 5 years. The food is tasty though it's amazing how often that they screw up my order. This time they messed it up despite me having the worker read back my order. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with double egg and cheddar cheese with salt and pepper. I realized they forgot my order when the customer behind me got his order before me and a second order for the same thing that he didn't order. You'd think at this point they would have figured out how to get it right. I ordered my original order again. However, I received a toasted whole wheat everything bagel with double egg, cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, KETCHUP (which I didn't ask for), and a piece of egg shell. Last time my order for a Black Russian bagel with lox spread got me a Black Russian bagel with olive cream cheese. I'd be concerned about ordering anything complicated here when they consistently screw up basic orders.

Is there any better way to start your day other than Great Bagels, and breakfast sandwiches? (talking food here people) Taylor ham, Sausage or Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwiches are all prepared well here. Fresh Cream Cheese or Butter on a Bagel you really can't go wrong. For Lunch they make delicious Deli sandwiches that are very satisfying. Coffee is very good at Mountain Lakes Bagel & Deli and is a great way to get you started and on your way. They do get Packed at peak times of the day but that's always the sign of a Great place to eat so deal with it. Come and get your Munch on!!

During a recent visit to New Jersey, we went to Mountain Lakes bagels and loved their bagels. "We'll be back."

Great local spot visited by all the locals. They were very accommodating and will do anything possible to keep customers happy. Terrific people.

I wanted to get a good soup for my lunch on Wed. I found Mountain Lake Bagel and deli. I see they had a special for cream of broccoli soup. I brought back to my office and found it was curdled and spoiled. I went back this morning, Thursday the 21st, I told the counter people about the soup. They looked at me like they had no idea what to do. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there is no one to talk to and started to pull the i"I don't speak English" crap . Asked if someone would be in later and they said nothing and shrugged it off and went to another customer. N E V E R N E V E R eat at this poorly run, dirty and disgusting deli.. I work at a business down the road and along with the Denville community!!

I go here because it's conveniently on the way to work. The bagels are ok but staff is sometimes nice and other times not so pleasant. I can over look that since I am just passing through, i wanna go in and out quickly. i come in here maybe 2-3 times a month. It wasn't till recently that i noticed i was overcharged I was told price was 6.10 for bagel with cream cheese & coffee...and i came in again two days later ordered bagel with taylor ham and egg & a coffee 6.90 i'm thinking they either charged way more for for the cream cheese last time or 80 cents more for meat and egg that's a crazy price difference & i just thought ok the girl at the counter is not someone who i'm use to ringing me up she might have made a mistake and it's my fault i should have caught it. But that following day when I was told 6.90 but then looked at my charge card 7.10. I know it's just a few cents but know i question all the other times i came in here to order and wasn't paying attention because i wanted to grab and go for something quick. It's my fault for not noticing but at the same time I won't be returning to a place with hot & cold temperament of staff, the so so tasting bagel and inconsistent charges, it all these "little" inconsistent things that add up to a big thing for me... i don't know how other people feel convenience over quality but I would rather go out of my to another bagel place that is less convenient to get to then go here again.

No longer , the good bagels it use to be . When you walk in , the place is dirty. Look at the food casing . Very filthy , not clean at all . Card board on the floors. To suck up the water. And the pricing of food is off the charts . Plus listening to the owner yelling who needs too pay , step up . Rude and insulting. Or maybe greedy and obnoxious. Maybe try some place else . Was a long time customer, no more . Bye bye.

Tucked away in the small suburban location of mountain lakes, NJ is this small yet busy bagel and deli shop. They carry a wide variety of bagels as well as a good lunch menu consisting of wraps, sandwiches and some soups. The most popular bagels run out very fast, however! I got the black Russian bagel with the Taylor ham and sausage with added hot sauce (see picture). It was a really good, chewy bagel and the Taylor ham made it even better. I would also highly recommend the buffalo chicken wrap although the price is a bit high for the size of the wrap. Overall, the service was fast and the staff was friendly. Overall, if you feeling a good bagel for an affordable price to go, this might be the place for you. Overall: Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Price: 9/10 Environment: 6/10 Would I visit again? YES

Mountain Lakes is one of the more popular bagel shops in Morris County. It has a prime location on Rt 46 and seems to do a great business. I recently stopped in for lunch since it had been a few years since I'd been here. Nothing much has changed, they still make outstanding bagels! I decided on a sausage, egg, and cheese on a sesame bagel. It was excellent! The bagel had just the right texture (the only one in NJ that I'd truly say I prefer is Alfa in Randolph). The coffee was self serve which I'm not a big fan of, but it also was very good. The price seemed on the low side to me, which I'll always take! Parking was easy and the place was clean. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that there really is nowhere to sit and eat, other than a small counter. If you're in area, stop in for excellent bagels. Just get them to go!

Really good & fresh Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel. Tasted better than your usual NJ breakfast bagel. Even the bagel was good alone. No pics because it was eaten too quick! -1 star cause there's no crowd control inside while people were waiting. Especially with covid. They need to monitor their capacity.

If you like doughy, chewy bagels then you'll love this place. The bagels are OK (to me), but i think they're too soft and doughy and lack real shape. they're usually taller than they are wide which isn't ideal to me. Most of the people are pretty friendly, just one woman who is usually at the register has no personality just takes my money and doesn't say a word. Pretty rude especially when you're the one dealing with customers. "Have a nice day" or even a half smile goes a long way. All in all, these aren't bad bagels, just not my type.

This place gets busy.. one minute no one.. next minute 10 people walk in at the same time. Big parking space to accommodate the rush. The bagels are soft and the food is good. Make sure you ask for not too much cream cheese because they put at least half the tub on your bagel. Hubby always gets double egg, cheese and bacon and it's so good, bacon is crispy. I got the sausage, egg and cheese and the baby boy gets plain bagel with cream cheese. There are a lot of people working the counter. It does get a little disorganized but it'll eventually work out.

Stopped to grab a sandwich because I've always thought they had great bagels. Ordered a RB and Swiss on sesame bagel. Two slices of meat on it....seriously ? Thanks but next time I'll hit Anthony & sons down the road. Better sandwich and they give you a real sandwich !

Really weird experience. So first I wanted a garlic bagel. They were out. Whatever that's normal for something to run out. So instead I order a Honey whole wheat. Employee notices they were given the wrong bagel. Went to look for a Honey whole wheat. Said "Their are none left so I guess you are getting a whole wheat". Which was the incorrect bagel in the first place. No asking what I wanted. Just said I'm getting that and walked off. Luckily I didn't pay yet so I just walked out. How rude of them.

I normally don't get a sandwich this bad. I asked and paid for cheese and didn't get that either. Could they spare the roast beef?

Great jersey bagels! Always have a positive and yummy experience going there and it is a great place for breakfast and lunch!!

So after considering the reviews (bad and good), I decided this place deserves a chance. I like to source bagel locations to get the best ones. This place had a lot of claims to "best north jersey bagel". Well... this place certainly doesn't, and perhaps those people who make such a claim, should venture out to other bagel places. I have no problem with their service, I had gotten what I asked for. I always test businesses bagels with cream cheese and an egg sandwich. They just haven't put in the effort to perfect their craft and it shows.

Terrible customer service.. NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM HERE!! I ordered online last weekend at around 1:50pm (they close at 3pm), and my email confirmation said the order would be ready by 2:30pm. I show up to pick up my order around 2:40pm and the doors are locked. The guy cleaning behind the counter tries to shoo me away with hand motions saying they're closed. I told him I ordered online almost an hour ago and I already paid, I just wanted to pick up my order. He says they have no orders and they're closed. I go to show him my emailed receipt and he says "it doesn't matter we're closed." We go back and forth for a bit and then an middle aged woman comes over yelling that they have no orders and they have no food left to make any orders. I simply ask for a refund and show her that my credit card was charged already. I asked her why an hour ago no one called me or emailed me (since my order required a phone number and an email address) to tell me the order couldn't be fulfilled, and to that I was told it wasn't her job to do that. She says they didn't accept the order because they have no food? She told me she can't refund me, I have to contact the company that operates their online ordering. Mind you, it's still not 3pm. So I call the customer service number on their website and speak with a woman who's response to the situation was that she's new and doesn't know what to do. She takes my name, phone number, and order confirmation number and tells me her supervisor will call me back. Here I am a week later still with the $19.47 charge on my card, still no return call from the online ordering service. I WILL NEVER, EVER RETURN TO THIS JOKE OF AN ESTABLISHMENT.. YOUR SIGN ON THE DOOR SAYS 3PM, THAT MEANS THE DOOR DOESN'T GET LOCKED UNTIL 3:01PM! IF THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH AN ORDER, YOU CONTACT THE CUSTOMER AND INFORM THEM!

Be prepared to be ignored. I was there with 4 other customers, no one looked at us or took our order. When o finally spoke up, my order was taken but not the others. This isn't the first time this happens. Everyone there has their back to you and they don't bother to help. Too many other shops around to choose this one.

I stop every day. Bagels are the best around, hands down! Anna the woman at the counter, she is extremely friendly, knows what she has to do to get customers in and out.. there is another woman who makes the bagels exactly how you want them.. she is quick and friendly... I noticed another new person here taking orders.. very young but well mannered, quick, and efficient and friendly.. over all staff is great. But there are times Anna is ringing customers up, making bagels and taking orders over phone and I just think that is a good efficient multitasking person.. I hope she is well compensated and appreciated for the multi roles she has. The woman cooking the food seems friendly, and efficient. The other two men seem nice, and the one woman who occasionally works the counter is nice.. overall this place deserves a 10.

Great bagels. But the place is ran by idiots. They will 100% mess up your order. And then if you try to correct them, the ethnic lady at the counter cops an attitude. We will be going to the bagel place down the street. Bagels like this are available everywhere in NJ. Go somewhere else. This place is only come consistent with it's idiots.

If only the employees would actually listen.... They have the potential to be a great Bagel/Breakfast place but they continuously mess up. Ordered a double egg and cheese on a cored round roll and they make a single egg and cheese on a (not cored) round roll. I'm not asking for the most difficult sandwich here......

This is not a good place for breakfast. Yes, the bagels are good, but that doesn't make up for the lack of service and crazy disorganization that happens at the store. There's no line for ordering and paying, the employees are rude, and the inside is really dirty. I've been here multiple times and they almost always mess up my order. I ordered a plain bagel with butter and there was so much butter it was leaking through my bag. This place is always crowded and super popular, and I'm really not sure why.

There are no better bagels anywhere on northern NJ. I used to bring them to work regularly and they were always a huge hit. I even grab a few dozen when I visit my sister in D.C. she absolutely loves them. They always hit the stop and their cream cheeses are amazing.

Big, chewy and doughy bagels! The plain and multi-grain bagels are my favorite here and really good with their chive cream cheese!

Really good breakfast sandwiches my order sometimes gets messed up I come here a lot before work this place is usually slammed packed they try to get you in an out but I feel they can be a little more organized and it would get things to really move alot faster
