The 14 Best Restaurants In Deptford

"A small bakery and coffee shop right outside Deptford Station, Mouse Tail Coffee serves tempting, freshly baked cinnamon rolls that you’ll demolish in five short, doughy-cinnamon-filled minutes. The excellent pastries also make us wish it was our local bakery. It’s the perfect spot to pop in for a casual one-on-one coffee and croissant catch-up, where you can peek into the kitchen and see them shaping loaves and pulling blueberry muffins out of the oven, or for a 3pm banana bread pick-me-up. The cafe serves the best coffee at Canada Water. The stuff is incredible, they are always so friendly and nice, even if the cafe is too busy. There was an issue with people with laptops occupying all tables, especially in the morning, but a new laptop free policy works perfectly. The place itself has huge windows which makes it be a perfect place to read a book and enjoy the morning cup. Love it!

Updating my post 2025 great coffee, great service and awesome quality in every step of the process. Baristas are well trained, therefore it’s a consistently great cup of coffee every time. Great quality food! Coffee is overpriced and the mocha and hot chocolate £4.50 (ridiculous) Apart from that great location and great crushed avocado on sourdough!

The only reason I have given this place a 5 star and not a 4 star is because of David. He was an absolute star. Normally in my tea I like a lot of milk and so I order half tea, half milk and he told me he'll give it to me separately.. but when hr brought it, he gave me 2 pots of milk and said he thought I might want extra milk 🥛 I was super happy with him reading between the lines and giving me what I want. His colleague Niko was very helpful and friendly too. Thanks both. Tea was decent, really massive pot!!! My friend's coffee was good too.

Delicious coffee and pastries with some sandwiches. Best place close to the station. Oat milk flat white was good and proper size!

The coffee, food, and service here are outstanding. Yesterday morning, Nico went above and beyond when I purchased a packet of decaf coffee beans. I needed crushed granules for my stainless Indian coffee filter but wasn’t sure about the ideal grind size. Nico asked thoughtful questions and provided additional samples of various grind levels to help me determine the perfect fit for my filter. Truly exceptional service!

Disappointed. The coffee was delicious, the space wasn’t dingy and there were no mouse tails in my latte. 0/5 mouse stars.

Occasionally passing by this cafe. Great environment and food is nice with this price. The staff is nice and friendly as well. I appreciate their hygiene as the staff will clean the table frequently with spray. Lastly, I have tried the honey latte and I would say it makes my day. Great job.

I usually really love mousetail coffee, I've had their chai and rooibos, but decided to go on a whim to get their cold brew (£4.50) this time. Its incredibly sour, which either means they haven't brewed it for long enough or the coffee grounds are too coarse for cold brew in particular. I'm a little disappointed, I guess my fault for trying something new.... That being said, the man who served me was pleasant and the inside of the coffee shop looks great and homey. Just wished my drink tasted good.
