Where to Eat Greek Food in Philadelphia | Eater Philly

"This casual corner spot near Logan Square has the gyros promised in its name, along with roasted lemon potatoes, zucchini and eggplant “fries” with tzatziki, souvlaki served in pitas or on a platter, and pizzas." - Sarah Maiellano

Google
Definitely a good place to eat healthy and great food. The dishes are so flavorful! I choose a salad with chicken breast and it was delicious! Is a very open concept restaurant and you can enjoy your food outside or inside the place. If you’re not from US and English is not your first language (just like me) I recommend to go to the cashier and ask your questions there. Sometimes the digital menu can let you in doubts about the spices and sauces. And doing this you can get help to order.

Google
I’m not sure about their pizza, but their other food is fabulous. Amazing customizable bowl with a good balance of texture. Greek salad has perfect veggies and cheese, while the lamb gyro mixes a classic gyro with delicious french fries. The pita bread is fabulous and is hard to believe it’s only a side dish. Overall amazing balance of taste and healthiness.

Google
We went for lunch today on our first trip to Philly. The dishes were fresh and delicious! We had several dishes including the chicken, steak, rice, waffle fries, hummus, and pita bread. Staff was friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back!!

Google
I highly recommend this place! A+! This place is absolutely amazing! The food is consistently fantastic, fresh and flavorful! I absolutely love this place! I can order dinner from here any night, it comes quickly, it's always fresh and consistently good!

Donna Greenberg

Google
Delicious Tinos bowl and Greek lemon soup! So good that I got them to take out and 5 days later, had them delivered! The warm pita that accompanied them was wonderful. And there was enough food to last 3 meals!

Rebecca Krawczak

Google
Moustaki was delicious. I created my own bowl with rice, chicken, onion and potatoes. I really enjoyed it! They give you fresh pita on the side of your bowl. I also got a chocolate cake and it was fantastic, probably my favorite part of the meal. The service was kinda odd, it seemed like the guy taking our order didn’t know what he was doing but he also didn’t say much… lol. Sat outside to eat at their outdoor seating. It was solid but I probably won’t be coming back.

Google
So much meat! They don’t skimp on portions or flavor, everything is hearty and tasty. Bread is soft and fluffy. This is a growing franchise that is serving up great food with a solid business model. The dips are tasty too and they give good sized portions. Franchise anyone?

Google
Moustaki is my go to for delivery or a quick bite. The food always tastes good, is high quality and a great value. The deliveries are fast, reliable and correct. I order from/eat at Moustaki 2-3 times per month and have always had a good experience. I cannot recommend highly enough!

Yelp
A large portion of food and tastes good. It was a to-go order, and the everything was wrapped well and quick packaging.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch during our weekend visit in Philly and was very impressed. First off, I'm not sure if they're the owners or just who was working that day, but the staff was incredibly friendly. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and advised to grab a menu, a table, and to come back to the counter when we were ready to order. I went with the Dolmades, an absolute favorite, and a Mediterranean bowl with rice, chicken, chickpeas, cucumber, tomatoes, tzatziki, and goat cheese. It came with its own side of pita and was packed with SOO much flavor (dove in too quickly and forgot to snap a pic). Absolutely delicious. My fiancé ordered a lamb gyro which came proper - with fries inside - and a side salad, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant, although on the intimate side, still feels open and inviting. We very much enjoyed our meal here and recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim a few days ago because I was hungry and walking by, and I'm always looking for a new place to get Greek food. I guess it's a chain? If so I hope other locations are better than this. My chicken gyro was 75% chicken which may be great to some people but like...I want a decent amount tomato, onion and tzatziki in my sandwich! But the worst part was that the chicken was BURNT. I also think I got up-charged to have the fries they normally put inside the sandwich left on the side? But either way it just wasn't good food, so I won't come back.

Yelp
I think this place has amazing food and the creamiest feta cheese. Just amazing. HOWEVER I would so prefer the Greek salad with romaine or at least no red leaf wilted droopy lettuce. What a disappointment mixed in with the delicious feta, red onion, olives, and so/so tomatoes. Plus the leaves are huge - even the greens. I would love the greens and romaine. Not the wilted red - please?!?!?

Yelp
Still another well-deserved 5 star rating. This time I indulged myself and ordered the Moustakki Sampler Platter. I chose pork (belly) gyro, falafel, and steak souvlaki with rice and Greek salad and tzaziki sauce. Each platter comes with bread, the same pillowy soft bread that their sandwiches use. The pork was good, the falafel better, and the steak... whoaaaa.... that was the best of all. Thank goodness it wasn't cheesesteak meat but rather big chunks of steak on a stick. Two of them! It was all a treat to eat. I can eat a lot and I swear this is a massive portion of food in one platter. No complaints here! Don't be afraid of the price. It's totally worth it!

Yelp
After went museum and already passed branch time I was so hungry thinking chinease food but ate yesterday . so go for new place. Greek food ...ok I love that . But mixed reviews so just try! If good this time try more. if not good just 1 time only..look at menu wow they have pork gyro and souvlaki . Want to try that. I usually Want to try few so decided combo plate. Can choose 3 meat 2 side! I chose Falafel , Greek sausages and pork . Also side Greek salad and fried potato also adding hummus . I think that is enough for 2 people lunch. Can't wait to try!! They came very neat presentation. Pita bread ,tomato and taziki is come with plate. It's look so good can't wait to dig in! Falafel is not mushy very crisp out side. Salad is little tasteless. Need more some spice. Taste only salt and oil. Also sausage is not strong spice taste like mint or cumin or however some spice. I need more kick! Pork souvlaki is very good I didn't expect that but good. But if they put more lemon on marinade will be more tasty but it's my opinion. Any way I didn't think we miss something on my plate. Order lemon soda and tap water also . Greek soda is small ( little disappointed) any way food is good so I am happy about till at bus stop. My partner said we didn't get fries! We totally forget. Oh yeah! we don't get them!! It was included our combo plate! If they are on plate I ate them. I really love fried potato! That is why I order... but too late... my mistake or there mistake? They don't mention anything. Ok please we are there next time please don't takes off the food on a plate without saying. Im not a tourist . I live here ! I will come back .if im hungry after museu or science center

Yelp
Stopped by after an evening at the Franklin. Exceptionally friendly service and the three of us had delicious lamb platters with lemon potatoes, tzatziki and pita and Greek salad. Very unassuming place but authentic food for sure.

Yelp
Moustaki is my go to Greek/gyro spot in Philadelphia. Definitely the some of best lamb gyro I've ever had. The lemon potatoes are one of my favorite side dishes in the city as well. Highly recommend Moustaki for Greek food. 5 stars all the way - this place is delicious
google avatar

Bradley C.

Yelp
This is an outstanding quick-service experience with solid meat and salad quality. They also tend to serve very quickly.

Yelp
We came this area for the museum and wanted to have a quick lunch so we chose this place after reading some reviews. We easily found a street parking and ordered Lamb Gyro with Tzatziki and Veggie Sandwich. The service was pretty quick. Lamb was soft and flavorful, and tzatziki sauce was also balanced and refreshing. But, the pita bread for the veggie sandwich soaked all the juices from the sautéd veggies, which became messy as I ate. My only concern was the price. I understand the recent inflation, but the Lamb was $12, veggie was $11, and 3 bucks for bottled soda drinks. The quality of the food was great, but the portion was also pretty small so you might need a side dish.

Yelp
I stopped here with my mom and friend yesterday afternoon for a quick lunch while in the city. It is a small place with some tables. Plenty of tables were available when we walked in. My mom got the falafel sandwich and my friend I split the falafel entree. There was definitely enough to share, considering we did not want to have any leftovers, as we would be continuing our day in the city. To start, all the food was fresh and delicious. The pitas were soft, the feta was creamy, and the tzatziki was tasty. I would need to come back here to try more things before adding another star, but I would definitely recommend giving Moustaki a try if ou are in the area!
google avatar

Kelli K.

Yelp
Tasty and affordable! My gyro meat was juicy and well seasoned. The spicy feta dip was bomb. I loved that it came with cucumbers for dipping. The best part though was the waffle fries! I got delivery but they were still hot and crispy. So delicious. I wish there was more veggies on the actual gyro. I also thought the tzatziki was a little bland. Make sure to order extra pita if you get a dip because they gave like 4 triangles for a cup of dip.
google avatar

Yelp
always the best of the best the food is always fresh lot greek specialties the service pickup or delivery always outstanding

Yelp
I came here for a quick stop one night with friends! The service was rapid and the food was hot and good. It's a casual place where you can order at the counter or take out. I just got a skewer which came with a salad and tzatziki. I didn't expect that! I thought it was just going to be a stick! I also got the fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki but i don't think there was any eggplant so i was kinda bummed about that! I didn't finish it all so I got a takeout container and brought it home. My friends got gyros and they were a decent size and I tried my friends chicken gyro and it was delicious with fries inside! I'd come back for a quick bite.

Yelp
I was looking for a quick bite near my apartment and decided to try Moustaki. The restaurant is open and inviting inside. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki with a side of lemon potatoes and rice. I only waited for about 5 minutes to get my food. Service was amazing! I was very indecisive and they were patient and even let me change my order after I had placed it. The chicken was good but the fiery feta sauce had more flavor and carried the entire meal. The lemon potatoes were not at all what I expected but they were very delicious. If you don't like sour food then I wouldn't recommend these because they pack a punch. The rice was bland, no seasoning at all. This is a good spot for something simple and convenient.

Yelp
large restaurant that was completely empty. what most stands out was the amount of food, large portion

Yelp
Maybe they have something good but is sure wasn't the chicken gyro. I've walked past the place on 15th for ever and finally decided to try something for lunch. I went with the safe bet - a chicken gyro and what a mistake. Its a big fat piece of bread stuffed with french fries AND waffle fries. A big tomato and somewhere in there was some chicken but i had a hard time finding it. between all the fry variations. Total mistake. Gotta be in pretty bad shape to wanna try that place again.

Sophie C.

Yelp
Really simple and solid greek food place! The food also came quickly, which makes it a terrific lunch spot. Chicken is normally easy to overcook, but they did a decent job keeping it flavorful.
google avatar

Yelp
After two years of seeing this place, I finally decided to give it a shot. I got the falafel platter with lemon potato and roasted vegetables while my boyfriend got the falafel gyro with waffle fries. The falafel was just okay. It didn't taste/look like falafel honestly. Each bite was super hard/overcooked and very VERY bland. I pretty much dunked a whole lot of Tzatziki on it to give it a little bit of flavor, but it was very underwhelming. The lemon potato's were so so as well. Not much flavor again, yet a little tooo acidity from the lemon. The roasted vegetables were probably the best thing on the platter. The falafel gyro was okay as well, but again bland because of the falafel. It also came with curly fries and not waffle fries, but that's completely a-okay with me! The chicken skewer was good, but a little dry. We also ordered the Nutella Loukoumades which was probably the best thing out of everything we got. Not too sweet yet reminded me of funnel cake minus the powdered sugar.
google avatar

Christopher N.

Yelp
Good amount of meat in gyro and waffle fries. Gyro tasted decent but they didn't give me my tzatziki sauce so it kind of ruined the whole meal. Ordered two gyros.

Adam H.

Yelp
Yummy spot. Nothing wrong with it at all. Lacking the incredible flavors to get 5 stars but that's just me I suppose I'm picky.

Betsy K.

Yelp
I ordered Greek Salad and it was horrible! Nothing like a real greek salad. Ordered 4 chicken skewers they were dry and poor tasting. Even the Pita bread was chewey and soft! So disappointed after spending $60!
google avatar

Kurt Y.

Yelp
I'm not sure if they are "authentic" as the name implies but they are mad tasty. I don't believe you could order anything bad. I had a lamb gyro with tzatziki and spicy feta spread. That's definitely the way to go. A friend ordered the Spartan Challenge or Spartan Warrior and that had everything on it: chicken, lamb, pork, pepperoni, etc; it was a challenge for him to finish. We also ordered a cheese pizza for his daughter and honestly.... It was pretty solid. Tasted like a pizza I've had in my childhood, and I like a square cut. It's fun and different. The staff was super nice and friendly. The atmosphere is probably more fun outside of a pandemic but it's definitely on my list of favorite lunch spots.
google avatar

Cassie O.

Yelp
First off this place was spotless inside. We ordered lamb gyros to go and it was ready super quick. If you're looking for a classic, authentic, and flavorful gyro, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Second home with come through Philly for some chores and Brought Moustaki home for lunch. I had one of their salad mixes with fresh grilled salmon, was terrific. Surprised by the large portion for a lunch. My wife had a lamb Gyro platter we've had it before and it was cut well unfortunately this time it was all end pieces which really was upsetting to her because being that we're not from the Philly area we couldn't go back and swap out for another meal. I guess lesson learned is see the dish before you have it packed to take home or be sure to tell them not to give you all end cuts.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! Great lunch as break from the Franklin Institute. Pizza for the child, and meze and salmon gyro for the grown ups.
google avatar

Ben L.

Yelp
Staff recommended the sampler. We got the lamb, pork, and chicken. Even our teenage loved the food. Highly recommend. Staff was very helpful as well.

Thomas H.

Yelp
The lamb gyro was absolutely delicious and the Spicy feta is a must. Looking forward to returning the next time back in the city.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Easy to order online for pickup or delivery, we chose to call in our order during our midday walk and pick up. Enjoyed the no-frills lamb gyro (fries inside), Greek salad* (oil and vinegar and pita on the side), and gyro fries** (tzatziki*** on the side). COVID-19 related: Signs asking customers to wear masks, hand sanitizer by the cash register, outdoor seating only. Will certainly return to try more from its extensive menu. *One kalamata olive still had a pit, which was a surprise to some teeth. **Crispy, waffle-style, curly-fry-flavored fries. ***Tzatziki was flavorful with dill, thick, and creamy!

Yelp
Another great find from Yelp. I ordered the Gyro platter with potatoes and it was fantastic. Next time I am in Philly, I will be back!

Yelp
I visited the Franklin Institute, and I was recommended Moustaki for lunch. It's conveniently located right next to the museum in a beautiful, residential area. Although it was Monday, the place was packed and booming with customers. The place is a little short staffed, and we all have to remember those who show up to work are doing their best. I did have to wait a little bit longer for my food to be ordered, my food to arrive, and to pay the bill; however, the food is worth it. I ordered the falafel platter with Greek salad and lemon wedge potatoes. The waitress was great with working with me and the chef to check in on what I could and could not eat (gluten free). The falafel was slightly over cooked but still tasty and wonderful. I loved the tzatziki sauce that went with it. The Greek salad was average, and the lemon wedge potato was average too. I also ordered the garlic eggplant dip, and that was amazing!! The only inconvenience was I asked for pita on a separate plate (gluten free, don't want items touching), and it wasn't separated. I can't wait to try this place again and order more dishes to try!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stopped into Moustaki for lunch during a visit to The Franklin Institute and it was BY FAR the highlight of our day. I had only had gyros a handful of times in my life, some 15+ years ago, from food carts in NYC, which were always quite good, but Moustaki has officially set the bar for this flavorful and filling meal. I had the lamb gyro, while my girlfriend had the chicken and we both opted for the mustard sauce. Both were warm, fresh and delicious; a real 10 out of 10 experience, especially for what was a very reasonable price. Aside from the fantastic food, the restaurant was very tidy and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Since our visit, we have discussed going back many times, as the food made a tremendous impression on us; alas, we live about an hour away, so we've tried to make do with more local spots to us. Unfortunately, there is no comparison. I recently had a gyro from The Halal Guys, which locals rave about and it wasn't even half as good as Moustaki. Please consider opening a location closer to Newtown, Pa!

Gavin L.

Yelp
I ordered the "2 for the price of 1" gyro special and was charged a $6 marketing service fee... ? Food was delicious.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Very affordable and the quality is also great. I got the lamb gyro sandwich, which was fresh and the gyro meat was seasoned perfectly. The side salad was wonderful. Perfect for a meal under $20.

Hungry I.

Yelp
Ordered on Uber Eats from Center City a week ago. Food was subpar compared to multiple previous visits. Additionally, they ignored every single instruction on the order and that was printed on the receipt. Complained through UberEats who still hasn't made this right
google avatar

Venera P.

Yelp
It's so sad that this place still can't do authentic Greek gyros! The meat is tasteless (tried lamb and gyro). They only put 3-4 fries inside. Just disappointing.
google avatar

Xiao Z.

Yelp
What I love about Moustaki is not the gyro, but the SPANAKOPITA! Must get: spanakopita (spinach pie), chicken/egg soup Meh: pork souvlaki Missed out: pizza We found this delightful Greek restaurant after visiting the Franklin Science Museum. The foot traffic was non-existing, but likely due to the rainy Monday evening phenomenon. Much of the dishes on the menu are commonplace, but the key item to get is the spinach pie. I was expecting the triangular pastries, freshly thawed from the frozen aisle from your friendly neighborhood grocery store, but instead I got a freshly made, hot from the oven moderate-sized pie that reminded me of an excellent scallion pancake from Chinatown than what I've had in the past. The gyros themselves were a bit bare, and I was not a big fan of the fries embedded within the pita, but meat was delicious. I would have loved to see the spinning gyro in display, rather than seeing the kitchen staff pick the meat from a box, but hey, it was 7pm at night, so it was reasonable. Overall, this was a fun stop and would recommend stopping by, even if it's just for the spinach pie. Food: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Service: 3 stars
google avatar

Ji B.

Yelp
Tried this place out of convenience (location wise) and seemingly tasty menu. Ordered take out with some friends and we all got pork gyros with tzatziki. There were regular fries, not waffle fries inside. The pork was overcooked and almost hard to chew. Slightly disappointed, maybe it was just a rough day.

John K.

Yelp
Lamb was excellent. Pizza was pretty good. Food came very quick. Nice little place inside. Good place to get some lunch if visiting the Franklin Institute.
google avatar

Gloria E.

Yelp
Picked up a platter from Moustaki since I had a coupon with a food service, and hadn't been here to try the food yet. I went around dinner time and the place looked super unbusy on a weeknight. The meat was tasty and the sides were good, and everything tasted like average Greek food. Without the discount, I'm not sure I'd have felt the same. They only gave one pita on the side. I definitely think with the size of the meal, two or three would make sense, and if they had mentioned that in the description of the meal, I could've added more.
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
Came in here with the family. Convenient location next to the Franklin Institute. The nice young man working the front was super friendly and generous, allowing us to make substitutions. Had kids with us, so decided to order a pizza while we waited for our own food. The pie was HUGE! Really good lamb gyro platters and salads! Lentil soup was goos too.

Yelp
My toxic trait is spending all my $$$ on groceries, then looking at my stocked fridge and saying "you know what I need? Takeout." That's where Moustaki comes into play. I had never tried this place before but was craving something that wasn't pizza, cheesesteaks, pasta, Chinese, Mexican, etc. and landed on here for Saturday night delivery cause who doesn't love a good Mediterranean style protein/veggie/starch to give you the illusion you're eating healthy? I ordered the chicken souvlaki platter with waffle fries and a Greek salad, BF got the classic lamb gyro, also with waffle fries, and I also impulse added to the cart a Spanokopita, baklava and Loukumades (Greek honey puffs), s'mores style. Food took a while to arrive, about 50 minutes or so, but I understand because it was freezing out and also the place is not close to us. Love that they have their own online ordering system for delivery and pickup, instead of a third party delivery service, and it's actually pretty sophisticated (you save so much not paying those pesky fees!) I will say I wish they gave you some semblance of tracking or ETA so I didn't spend almost a full hour forlornly looking out the window. Anyway, on to the food. Everything was really tasty (waffle fries were cold by the time we got them though, but nothing our air fryer couldn't fix.) My boyfriend's lamb gyro was delicious and juicy, and I don't even like lamb. My chicken, while seasoned nicely and served with a hearty Greek salad, absolutely delicious tzatziki and a fresh wedge of lemon, was pretty tough/overcooked and dry, so not entirely what I pictured when I thought of marinated/grilled chicken. Those flavors made up for it, though, as did the slathering of tzatziki to save it a bit. Side of pita was aight, probably would've been better in-person as by the time they got to me they were also pretty chewy to eat. Regardless, that DISC of a Spanokopita made up for any previous shortcomings. Holy hell. So good. It's nothing like the triangular cut layered variety you're used to. This is gonna sound weird, but it was akin to a savory cinnamon roll: a perfect spiral of delicate, flaky, buttery phyllo dough filled with an incredible spinach pie mixture. I would order just that TBH. Desserts were good, and the baklava was not sickeningly sweet which was nice. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to order them again, though. Will definitely keep this place in mind for future orders (and may stick to lamb instead of chicken)!
google avatar

Martin S.

Yelp
This was a really disappointing experience. The food here had no love or flavor or effort it seemed. The falafel pita was one of the saddest I've ever had. You are MUCH better off getting one for $6 from a food truck in the city. There are so many great falafel options in the city so it is a bit jarring to go from say Goldie's falafel to these grocery store microwaved falafels with no flavor. I had to douse the pita sandwich in hot sauce just to get any semblance of flavor. We also got the waffle fries with feta cheese and oregano. Unfortunately not only did it not have oregano but the fries were super soggy and had about four pieces of feta cheese over three fries. Yet they upcharge you like this is a special order of fries? Had this place a while back when it opened and remember it being much better. Not sure if it is under new ownership or the current ones just gave up the quality here was just really disappointing and really felt like a white American trying to imitate Greek/Mediterranean food.

Yelp
A fantastic find on an unseasonably warm November day. Lentil Soup, Horiatiki Salad -topped with salmon - so perfect - and "greek" waffle fries. Great service from Ian. We loved that house-made pita, too. Everything was so tasty and moderately priced. Lovely!

Meg G.

Yelp
The Avgolemono Soup is incredibly bland and insultingly small for the price. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Meir R.

Yelp
Dorian is great she made things possible we got out food in less than 5 minutes. Good was great

Stewart Z.

Yelp
In a little section out of the way in Philadelphia, Greek food is a blessing from the old world with a touch of flare!. From a choice of Gyros to Souvlaki, mouthwatering tidbits will make you scream for more!. Yesterday, stoped by to sample treats from the country visited!. My mouth remembered that time!.

Yelp
We had driven by this place a ton of times. One of our friends told us he tried it and loved it so we went on over. Parking is tough so just be aware. It's also a byob My husband got the chicken gyro platter with the potatoes and rice and I got the salmon platter with veggies. We also got the fiery feta dip. The staff was great! She was very helpful and attended to us the entire time. Everything was great. The salmon was so perfectly flavored and went great with the tzatiki that comes on the platter. The roasted veggies were amazing too! Will head back.

Yelp
I couldn't decide between a gyro or gyro waffle fries so I got both!!! Service was great and food was delicious and flavorful. I'm not from this state so I was tirelessly searching Yelp for some really delicious food. I took a 20 minute Uber there and back and kept my fingers crossed then entire way skeptical about whether or not the trip was worth it...IT WAS!!!!! Food was amazing. I started to dig in before I could get out the door good! I'm a sucker for great tzatziki sauce and this place has it! If I'm ever back in town this place is on the must visit list!

Yelp
This place is five stars for their gyros and spanakopita. This is more of a "fast" Greek food place - don't try to be super healthy ordering fish, or veggie mixes (even though their falafel is great). I love their pork souvlaki sandwich - it's tasty, delicious - has the Greek French fries on top (yes this is done in Greece), and the absolute must and best is their custom moustaki sauce! My favorite thing about their gyro is that sauce. One other thing that is amazing is their avgolemono soup! I ordered it plenty of times. It is perfect for the winter weather. Like I said this place has amazing gyros - it mimics the fast Greek food places in Greece - don't try to be super healthy Mediterranean, enjoy a gyro!
