I stay often at Mövenpick Hotel Berlin, and while the rooms are nice and clean, and the breakfast is tasty, the service at reception is extremely unprofessional.
First of all, the staff often doesn’t speak German and regularly mix things up. On one occasion, they gave me the key to someone else’s room—mixing up names, which is completely unacceptable.
Check-in is another major issue. There is always a long line at reception, which is the last thing you want to deal with after a tiring workday. This happens because of the slow and unprofessional service—it’s clear that the staff are not well-trained or efficient.
Additionally, they demand a deposit of 50 EUR per day for the minibar, which is always empty! To make matters worse, one time, a receptionist insisted that I buy a chocolate bar as a deposit and return it upon checkout. When I refused, he simply said “okay,” which was totally weird and unprofessional.
To top it all off, during my last stay, the teapot in my room wasn’t working. I called reception and asked for a replacement, but no one ever showed up that evening.
This kind of unprofessional and chaotic service has made me lose trust in this hotel. I’ve had enough and will look for alternatives. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone until their service improves.
