The food, the drinks, and the service were amazing. It was a little quiet and interesting music, but the space was nice. The tomahawk steak was so tender and with the flaky salt on it... chef's kiss! The drinks were really good! I got Mind Over Matter (the tequila cocktail). Will definitely be back to try more of the side dishes.

Moxie Steakhouse serves high-quality food with more than just great steaks! The vegetarian options are absolutely delicious, and the staff is super nice and welcoming. It was a great place to celebrate our friend’s birthday—warm atmosphere and great service all around!

Lovely nice decor and great service here! I am impressed by the table service Cesar Salad was made from scratch and Yes! The dressing was made from scratch! Great cocktail selections too. Decent quality beef. Very important - the desserts are the best of best! Not too sweet and fresh house made strawberry short cake made my day and ended perfectly.

Atmosphere is fantastic. Cocktails were top notch. All staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful. Steak was great. But the timing needs a lot of work. We waited more than an hour from finishing our starter to receiving entrees.

I had brunch here. Pretty place, great service. Food was kind of lacking at this price point. Cappuccino tasted burnt. Steak and eggs was great, and I really liked the potato donuts, haven't had anything like it. They're like fluffy airy mashed potatoes with a crispy outside. Beef hash was okay. The banana flambe pancake included rum which was not listed on the menu, I wouldn't have ordered that if I knew since I don't like rumcake. But the parts of it without syrup were fluffy and good. But as an 'experience' gimmick food it was lacking. Like 2 seconds of tiny flames lol. Don't bother at that point, just give me the pancake haha. But the rum was also overpowering even for my husband who likes rum cake. It just pools up on the side of the plate.

Simple.. if you haven’t eaten here- you should make it a priority. The owner is humble, brilliant, and super talented knowing just exactly what you need and how you want it done. I had the tomahawk tonight and it was perfection. Cooked just like I asked, didn’t take that long, and the fat complimented the meat divinely. I can’t say enough about #Moxie - you have to experience it for yourself!

Twice visited now, I’ve been here once in the evening and once for brunch and both times I’ve sat at the bar counter with friends where I’ve enjoyed the delightful presence of the bartender (whose name is Kat if I recall correctly?). The food is put together with a great deal of care and attention (you can watch them at work from a barstool position) and is thoroughly satisfying. I loved the potato, caviar salmon and egg dish and I wolfed it down, the only slight disappointment was that the crispy potatoes weren’t at all crispy but the flavor profile was on point so I enjoyed it anyway. My friend was raving about her asparagus toast with poached eggs (I’m getting that next time) and her pistachio doughnut. On our evening visit a few weeks earlier we enjoyed a selection of vegetarian appetizers all of which we loved aside from a pilaf pastry dish which had a filling too unusually-flavored for our palettes. I don’t drink much, but when I do have a glass, I want it to be a crisp, dry, cold glass of bubbly wine in a worthy stem and Moxie certainly delivers on that. Thank you! We’ll be back!

I was a big fan of Donna’s cooking and pastries at Little a house and eagerly awaited Moxie. It’s absolutely delicious, and the best date night/special occasion restaurant on Park street. You can tell the food is cooked with real care and attention. Our steak was perfectly done, I like a true medium rare - most places serve Edit: they do brunch now!! And it is STELLAR. We had the home made donuts, crispy potatoes with caviar and lox, and beef hash. Everything was impeccable, wonderful service, no notes! it like it’s medium these days. The starters and sides were treated with equal skill. The interior ambiance is gorgeously done, it is located in a sort of strip mall type building but the interior is totally custom and classy as hell. I only wish they did brunch :)

Yelp
There are no words for how incredible of an experience my boyfriend and I had for our 3rd anniversary here at Moxie. The menu was so impressive, curated with such creativity and love. I have never in my life had a more perfect true medium rare filet mignon with horseradish, scallops, gorgonzola mac n cheese and the most incredible broccolini. I even ordered another scallop appetizer for dessert!! Everything on the menu is so delectable, and melts in your mouth. The spices, the textures, the balance of acids and sweet, all of it!! Wow I am so impressed and lucky to have this little spot in Alameda. Beautiful ambiance, wonderful staff and service. The ladies that took care of us tonight were so sweet . My parents will be going tomorrow night for their anniversary because of how wonderful of an experience Moxie offers. THANK YOU!

Yelp
Moxie is a small family owned business on the popular Park Ave strips of Alameda. It's cozy and perfect for an intimate dinner, although, it can be hard to hear at times since you are closer to other patrons. The food and wait staff are excellent. Waitress was friendly and responsive and the food was great! We started off with duck crostini that were just perfect. The meat was smoked and the toast just the right texture and then a fig(?) jam on top to finish it off. I couldn't get enough of the beet and strawberry salad. It was fresh and colorful, with some crunchy caramelized pecans and goat cheese. The wedge salad was loaded and met the craving of a good wedge. We shared a filet minion that was served with an herbed butter. Each bite was tender and buttery and rich. We also ordered the chive fritters which were a perfect addition to the meal, crunchy outside and tender inside. Lastly, we splurged with an ice cream sundae with chocolate sauce and toasted almonds. So good. What a meal! We're eager to come back and try the tomahawk steak.

Yelp
Came here for a father and daughter dinner and the experience was just okay. I got the ribeye and my daughter had the filet mignon. She enjoyed hers but mine was nothing special and I didn't feel great afterward. Service was mixed. The waitress did recommend a less fatty cut for my daughter, which I appreciated. But she barely checked in on us most of the meal. Later on I started a conversation and asked if she used to work at another restaurant. She said yes and after that she opened up more. She was nice, just not very attentive. I asked for Japanese whisky and she wasn't familiar, so I ordered the Old Fashioned. It was fine. The Pinot Noir I got after was pretty bad. The biggest issue was the gnats. It was dark so you don't notice at first, but once I saw one I realized there were more. I even saw other guests swatting them too. For a place that's supposed to feel nicer, that's not something you expect. The next day my stomach wasn't right and it made me think. The broccolini the fries and the donuts were the best part of the night. For spending over $270 dollars I expected a cleaner environment better drinks and more attentive service. Not terrible but not a place I'm in a hurry to return to.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Sunday evening with reservations at 5:45pm. The restaurant was surprisingly small but got pretty busy by the time we were done with our meal. Our server was really nice and had good suggestions on menu items. We ordered the tomahawk steak to share along with broccolini, mushroom skewers, crispy Yukon potatoes with caviar, beef tallow fries and mashed potatoes. The tomahawk with chimichurri sauce was great. It was cooked rare/medium rare, which is just how we like our steaks. The appetizers/sides were all tasty, but I expected the portions to be a bit bigger for the price. Our favorite appetizer was the crispy Yukon potatoes. The sauce with the caviar was really good. I would definitely order the tomahawk again. Just note that it takes 40 minutes to prepare, so we did have to wait a while before it came out. Since the place was on the smaller side, the tables were pretty close to each other. That didn't bother us though. Our neighbors were nice. I'd be back again and probably order less appetizers/sides and just go for the tomahawk. 4 stars because of the prices/sizes of the appetizers/sides.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner with a group of six. The filet mignon and prime rib were cooked just right, and the sauces like the blue cheese butter and chimichurri truly enhanced the flavors. The sides were perfect for sharing, with the marinated king mushroom trumpet skewer and mac and cheese standing out as favorites. While the dessert menu was a bit underwhelming, with the sundae and gingerbread cake being just ok, everything else, including the service, was excellent!

Yelp
Definitely a great vibe! Loved the ambiance. Nice setting. Comfortable chairs. Lighting is brighter than most steakhouses I'm use to but no complaining about that! Some steakhouses are too dark. Service was amazing! Top notch and very honest with recommendations and directing you through menu on what to order. Food was great quality and good pricing. I totally recommend this place and will be coming back!

Yelp
Came for brunch on a Sunday and it was nice and quiet. Menu is a bit limited but the banana flambeed pancakes and the steak and eggs were quite tasty. The donuts were definitely a highlight with soft fluffy dough and thick creamy fillings and a wide range to choose from. The raspberry and the Kahlua ones were very good. A bit pricey but high quality food.

Yelp
Adding to my existing reviews, because returning regularly has given me a window into the deep thought processes, warmth and collaboration of the staff and servers, and attention to detail of those who make the food. I feel very at home there, extremely welcome and well taken care of! Come by and check them out soon!

Yelp
Food was great, but took a long time to be served. We were a party of six and celebrating a birthday. Everyone was excited for the Tomahawk and it did not disappoint. Quality of the meat and apps was great and would definitely go back again. Unfortunately we would not order cocktails as they were a bit bland. The server was attentive and had good recommendations.

Yelp
1640 Park St Alameda, CA 94501 "Moxie" is a fine dining steak house in downtown Alameda. I came here on a warm Saturday to meet up with a fellow Yelper and old grade school friend for an early dinner. I made reservations for 5pm. I was greeted as I walked in, and we were seated in the small dining area in front of the bar. The tables were set in a very organized manner, as they prepared for dinner service. I asked the server if there were any specials. She mentioned a "Grilled Salmon w/ Mashed Potatoes" for $25. But then she quickly reminded me that I'm in a steak house! My friend and I skipped the salads. I ordered Gulf Shrimp w/ Cocktail Sauce. My friend ordered a mini Lobster Roll. My Gulf Shrimp were large, plump, and tasty. However, the cocktail sauce was thin and barely made a difference as a dip. Also, there's no bread or rolls served with our meal. Note: After you order, a person comes to your table and removes unnecessary utensils and glassware. Also, if you drop crumbs, someone will come sweep your table with a brush. For main course, I ordered Lamb Chops w/ a side of Beef Tallow Fries. OMG, those Lamb Chops were absolutely delicious! Rich flavor, juicy meat, tender and easy to cut with a knife. For me, the presentation was okay because the lamb chops were stacked and covered the plate. However, my friend ordered a 6-oz Holstein Filet Mignon, and it looked tiny on the large platter. The sides are shareable, so you're supposed to take a serving and put if on your plate. My Beef Tallow Fries didn't stay crispy very long. I think they should serve thick steak fries instead. After we finished our meal, a staff person came and asked us how we liked our meal. I told her the honest truth. The sauce for the Gulf Shrimp was weak. The Beef Tallow Fries were dry and not crispy, and not worth $10. So on the bill, the fries were comp'd and we got 50%-off on the Gulf Shrimp. Thank you! We received tiny cookies with the bill. Notes: - the AC works in this place, and it can get chilly. - make a reservation, this place only seats 26 people. - If you make a reservation and no-show, you get charged $35 - extra charge for steak sauce Someday, I'll return to try their Prime Rib

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and saw a sign that read donuts from the parking lot. On this particular day I already had breakfast but it was stored in my memory bank. I usually frequent another donut shop, but it's on the other side of Santa Clara off of Webster street. I had gone into this place the next day and discovered it was a Fancy Steak house, but it had donuts. I had ordered a lemon curd blueberry donut and a Bloody Mary. The Bartender Cat was super friendly and the B M was the right spice. I basically enjoyed the Bloody Mary and took the donut to go. It was a little messy but the Donut tasted great. Bloody Mary had bits of celery in the drink which I later found out it was celery salt. I will definitely try out for lunch if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Solid 4 out of 5. With just a few tweaks, Moxie has the potential to become a true 5-star steakhouse. This was my second visit, and a big improvement from the first. I'm glad I gave it another shot. That said, Moxie sets a very high bar for itself. Prices are on par with the best steakhouses in Chicago or NYC, not small-town Alameda, so that's the lens I'm using to evaluate the experience. Let's start with the service and ambiance. Both were excellent. The staff was warm, attentive, and professional from the moment we walked in. Everything from seating to ordering to timing was on point. I felt genuinely welcome, and that really elevated the night. We ordered one appetizer to share, two sides, and two Brandt Farms ribeye steaks. One thing I loved: they offer the same cut of steak from different farms, each with its own flavor profile. That's a great touch and not something you see often. For sides, we picked the chile lime sweet potatoes and grilled asparagus. Both were great choices and more than enough food for two people. The steaks themselves were good, but not great. Both ribeyes were cooked unevenly. One side was closer to well done, the other side more medium rare. Not a deal-breaker, but noticeable, and something that really shouldn't happen at this level. The flavor was a bit underwhelming. It needed more salt, and mine had a nice crust on just one side and not the other. Still, I enjoyed experimenting with the sauces they offer. Overall, I think the place is on the right track. The experience was strong enough that I'll be back one more time to see if they've dialed things in. Moxie has the potential to be a standout steakhouse. It just needs a bit more consistency.

Yelp
We've been here twice now for special occasions, and each time we were impressed. The steaks are delicious, as were our Cesar salads, broccolini & desserts. It's so nice to have a delicious special occasion restaurant here in Alameda!

Yelp
I tried this place last night. Very disappointed. The web site does not match the restaurant. They did not have a lot of things that are on the web site. The bartender Trevor was very nice. Cesar salad for two was limp like the lettuce needed viagra. The roasted cauliflower was not roasted really no flavor at all. The onion soup was ok but the cheese on top could have been cooked better. I was so excited to go there. I will not return. I don't mind an expensive restaurant but the food has to match the price. Moxie was a sad disappointment for me.

Yelp
Small intimate steak house located on Park Street. Seats around 26 for dinner? Free parking lot in the back. Excellent service and the restaurant is not pretentious allowing you to share steaks which can be huge or the Tomahawk from New Zealand. I don't know about you but I can't devour a whole 14 ounce ribeye like I did when younger, share it - yeah.... Since we went as a group, we ordered the large Tomahawk, a Ribeye, Lamb-chops, and the fish of the day. All were properly prepared as requested and enough for the nine of us. The sides are a bit small and you'll need to order two-three per couple. We liked the mushrooms and the zucchini squash. Sauces are also extra and we decided to go sauce less with just the meat and the chef's seasoning. Overall, glad to have a steakhouse on Park Street.

Yelp
We were looking for a new place to go and my buddy found out about this place so we had to come try it out. We made a reservation just to be sure we could get in since it was our first time going there. When we arrived we were greeted right away by the hostess/waitress who sat us down right away. It wasn't that busy there so that was good. They don't have a lot of appetizers to order which was fine with us. They give you chips that are made in house and those chips are delicious, you can get full off them alone. We ordered a few salads to share between us since they were pretty big for one person. We ordered the Cesar and the Wedge salad. We ordered a bottle of Red Wine Grenache and some other cocktails. The wine tasted nice and the cocktails were also tasty. Both of those salads tasted great. The wedge salad had fresh crispy bacon which tasted great. Are entrees were the hangar steak, prime rib (special of the day), pork chop, lamb chops, and the ribeye steak. All of my friends said there steaks, prime rib, and lamb chops tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The prime rib came with two sides (mash potatoes & snap peas) which both tasted good. The mash potatoes were light, and tasty and the snap peas had some great flavor to it. My pork chop was okay, nothing special about it, a little small but it was cooked perfect. We ordered some sides to go with the meal, mac n cheese, asparagus, mash potatoes, and cauliflower. The mac n cheese was very cheesy which I like and the noodles were cooked perfect, mash potatoes like I said was very tasty, and my friends said the asparagus was really good too. We didn't order any desserts because we were too full. :).. The service was really good, I believe our waitress name was Chris or Chrissy. We will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Food was decent, not bad but nothing to write home about. Tip: err on the side of ordering your steak under, I ordered medium and it came out well done. BUT everyone else ordered medium rare and came out medium, more to their liking! I will say the homemade chips at the beginning of the meal was a VERY nice touch (prob my fav part). I also loved the fries bc I love salty, but was too salty for the rest of my party. Also of note- we celebrated a birthday and told the hostess and waitress. They brought out a VERY nice cherry Sunday situation but when we got the check, they charged us LOL. Again, not a bad experience but nothing to write home about.

Yelp
I wanted to share some feedback from our recent visit on Friday evening (8/8). My boyfriend's birthday tradition is to have a special steak dinner, and although I usually book well in advance, this year was busier than usual with work. Over the years, we've enjoyed several top-notch steakhouses in San Francisco, San Jose, and Palo Alto, as well as our local favorite, Park Street Tavern. This time, we decided last minute to try Moxie for the first time, making the reservation on Wednesday for Friday dinner. While there were certainly positives, my boyfriend really enjoyed his steak, which was cooked perfectly, and the service was friendly. There were also a few aspects that left us feeling the experience didn't quite match our expectations for a special occasion. We were seated at what felt like the most awkward table in the restaurant. It was in the middle, very close to a couple at the window on one side and a booth on the other. Conversations felt uncomfortably close, and when the salad cart came to the booth and someone passed to use the restroom, there was very little space left. It made for a cramped and distracting setting. My cocktail (I believe it was the Lizz Fizz) was tasty but felt almost non-alcoholic. While I understand not all drinks need to be "strong," for $14 each, they could be more balanced in proportion. My fish entrée came with rice pilaf that was unfortunately overcooked, and the apricot dessert we ordered afterward, hoping to end on a high note, was texturally one-note and underwhelming in flavor. Lastly, while the staff remained friendly throughout, things seemed a bit frantic once it got busier, which may explain why we didn't receive the "something" mentioned when we told our server we were celebrating a birthday. I'm generally very easygoing and understand that busy nights happen, but I think these points are worth mentioning especially for guests celebrating important occasions and spending accordingly.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Alameda! Exceptional delicious! Had the puff pastry with artichoke and the libation was absolutely amazing!!!!

Yelp
Rude customer service experience! Miscommunication and lack of listening upon entering establishment. Passed off to insolent teenager (or you h 20s) who didn't have a clue on listening skills and customer service. We WERE in your target market of customers who pay for an upscale experience. Alameda is a small town and we will be vocal. This was a failure at every turn.

C.J. H.

Yelp
Enjoyed a family dinner for six last night, and had a great experience. Place is beautiful, food is very good. Interesting and eclectic side dish offerings. Only note: Ice cream dessert needed less heavy chocolate coating...The service was the best I've experienced in quite a while. Planning on going back soon for happy hour!

Yelp
My friend took me to Moxie last night and rest assured that the steak alone is still worth your time. Unfortunately, elements that weren't bad in our first visit were very mediocre yesterday night not to say bad. Service needs to be addressed as the personnel does not seem to understand what they are sharing with you in terms of specials. Their omnipresence is such a small space tightly packed is not pleasant. The maître D is overfamiliar and needs to understand that we are not all comfortable with this overfamiliar approach that comes across as fake anyways. Therefore special for the fish was a seared salmon fillet which was served to used raw in its center. The waiter was surprise that is not what we wanted. We are talking salmon not tuna and if there is a level of cooking on offer , then I would like to be involved as I was for the steak. Sadly , it was taken back to the kitchen and cooked to death - I guess that teaches us a lesson .... My friend truly enjoyed her cocktail and the wine. So those two pluses and the steak and the delicious side vegetables get this restaurant three yelp Star. I expected a change of vegetables options as we have entered a different season but the restaurant is not there (yet) , hopefully they will consider a more seasonal approach. The desserts have remained the same since our last visits a choice of two. I am ok with that as we did not come here for desert.

Yelp
Phenomenonal from beginning to end, this is a fabulous restaurant for any special occasion! I had the Bubbles, Berries, 'Bharb cocktail with Spicy Lamb Lollies, then the Holstein Ribeye with Sugar Snap Peas and a glass of Château Cotes de Bonde Montagne-Saint-Émilion. For weekend brunch, they make in-house donuts, and I was lucky enough to try a leftover raspberry custard one. Everything was perfect, from beginning to end!

Yelp
This restaurant is phenomenal! From the variety of cuts of steak to the daily seafood specials to the fantastic cocktails they never disappoint. My wife & I have started coming here almost every Friday evening now & we love sitting at the bar for great service from the bartenders and beautiful ambiance. Best new restaurant in Alameda by far!

Yelp
I ordered the oysters and the lamb and beans. Went home and several hours later had food poisoning symptoms (vomiting etc) and a very bad night and miserable next day. I called to complain and was told, "That's very unfortunate, I'll let her know" by the person who answered the phone. I was hoping for, "How can we make this right?" But no such luck. I suppose the oysters were the source.

Yelp
Tried out Moxie for an early Father's Day dinner and we had a large party and the place was busy. We were told that we had 2 hours which was fine. We placed our orders at 5:30p and our steaks arrived approx at 6:30p with all of the sides/sauces. Once I took a bite of my sides (Hasselback potatoes) there was a piece of black PLASTIC in it. I showed the server. How do you get Plastic in my food...must be from using plastic utensils to cook with or what? Anyways, the server offered it to take it off the bill ($10) but that left a bad taste in my mouth. Good thing, it wasn't my kiddos who had plastic in their food. At any rate, I didn't want to make a big fuss of it since we're celebrating Fathers Day but I feel the need to warn all other patrons so that they're aware. At 6:50pm, they had the audacity to ask us if we wanted any dessert...now that really ticked me off. To tell us that we had 10 minutes to order dessert and our dinner service was coming to an end. Here's your $700+ bill with $1 worth of cookies left on top of the bill. So unsanitary...ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Please don't patron this restaurant unless you want to eat PLASTIC.

Yelp
Celebrated hubby's early birthday without parents and baby. Food: French onion soup: 5/5. It's as good as Angèle in Napa. I usually prefer prime rib but wanted to try something new, so I got the angus beef with flat iron cut. Husband went with prime rib. 5/5 for the prime rib. I think I made a poor choice with my cut, but they made it pretty tasty. 4/5 - it was quite mushy for my taste. The Potato Dauphinoise was so smooth and creamy 5/5 Brussels sprouts: 3/5 They were sold out of all desserts but gave my husband a soft serve ice cream on the house. 5/5 Service: Our server was top notch!! He was very knowledgeable about the foods and the restaurant. I was very pleased to learn this restaurant is owned by our fellow Alamedan. It was also such a delight to know the head chef is a woman. Her name is Donna. I didn't expect our server would hear when I mentioned to my husband that we were celebrating his birthday tonight, but he did. I appreciated that gesture - it made me feel like I was at the Ritz. 8/5!! Ambience: Tables were close to each other. We didn't have a reservation, so I was happy that they accepted walk-ins. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Will come back another day.

Yelp
We had to come and check out this new fancy restaurant in Alameda. Not a big place but very nice inside. Easy shopping center parking. Classy joint. Food was excellent. Pricey, but a good place to eat for a good meal.

Elaine C.

Yelp
For her birthday, I wanted to take someone special, a long time Alameda resident, to a place she had never been before. Through yelp, I found Moxie, where right now you don't need a reservation for lunch! The homemade donuts were a treat, the poached eggs with asparagus and hollandaise sauce and beef hash were both delicious, the citrus salad sweet and tangy- everything really good! They have only had a brunch menu for three months. Such a great find!

Yelp
Don't let the 3 stars fool you. I'm really giving it a..... I kept hearing about this place and finally decided to try it out. To be honest I thought they were only open late, but today I heard they were open for brunch. So I zoomed over. The place must be good because trying to get a reservation has been tough (for me at least) for the days I wanted to try. But I heard they had brunch so we headed over to try. I must say, nice ambiance, cool wait staff, drinks were on point. And the food is legit. I ordered the braised beef hash. Wasn't too bad, the sunny egg on to was the chef kiss. I did need a tad bit of salt but all in all it was still good. We also had half doz-oysters-Can't go wrong with those right! The bar is super stacked with some amazing whiskeys and spirits and the martini I had was perfect for a summers day brunch. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the steak, I hear it's really good. I'm giving Moxie a 3 1/2 for now until I can come back and try the steak. I'm sure that will work its way up to a 4. To be continued....

Yelp
We tried Moxie Steak House for dinner this week and enjoyed a most delicious dinner with friends. The place was packed and bustling even at 8pm on a Wed night! The ambiance was upscale but still casual to make this a friendly spot for the community. The interior reminded me a bit of A Cote, with the nicely set bar and bar seating up front. We raved about the hanger steak, filet and spud variations we tried. The halibut my friend enjoyed was generous and delicious! The special ratatouille was outstanding as was the Strauss soft serve sundae to finish off. Service and other staff were all very attentive. Prices are on the high side especially with everything being a la carte. Moxie is a nice new option for that special night out or gourmet bites with cocktails. Also super conveniently located for anyone from outside Alameda with easy parking too. We'll be back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience for first time. We came for brunch. Service was excellent. Very attentive and helpful. The food was fabulous. Everything from the Latte, our entries and the donuts melted in our mouths. We will definitely return.

Went here to celebrate 2 birthdays after a reservation. We had: 2 Brandt 14 oz. Ribeye steaks, Caesar salad, gulf shrimp, polenta stix, corn fritters, beets w/goat cheese, hasselback potatoes (some were raw & inedible), and drinks. Plus: nice atmosphere, service was very attentive without hovering, 2 birthday guests had complimentary soft serve, parking lot Delta: additional charge for horseradish and other sauces, soft serve ice cream charge was $8 each The steaks were just meat on a plate, for $68 each, it was ok but there could have been a piece of parsley or other garnish Would we go back? Maybe if we were in the area.

Yelp
They've mastered their steaks but overall, it was okay. I hope they revisit the menu, adjust the prices, and take more care with the desserts. Table-Side Caesar Salad: 2/5 Overly acidic and too much vinegar. It's overpriced for what you get. They should drop the table-side gimmick, make it in the kitchen, and reduce the price by $8 to make it worth it. Hanger Steak & NY Strip: 5/5 Both were well-cooked and perfectly seasoned. French Fries: 4/5 Crispy and well-cooked but overly salted. There's no listed price for plain fries--just an option to add truffle cheese for $3. Mashed Potatoes: 2/5 Bland, tiny portion for $10. Not recommended. Sponge Cake with Strawberry & Chocolate: 0/5 Very disappointing. The sponge cake was dry, and the hard chocolate layer was weird. Store-bought cake would be better.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on Sunday, must say I was pleasantly surprised! From the ambiance, to the meal itself I must say it was a 10/10 experience. We had the wedge salad, tallow fries, hasselback potatoes, spicy zucchini, wagyu fillet and wagyu strip. Steaks were cooked to perfection! Exquisite menu with unique options as well! Service was incredible, our waitress was attentive, kind, and had good recommendations. Overall was a wonderful experience, definitely a must try if you're in Alameda!

Yelp
I ordered the potato with smoked salmon/ caviar for brunch and it was gross honestly. It tasted like bay area sea water was mixed in with some potatoes. The salmon was not fresh neither was the caviar, and it was mostly potatoes with a little bit of salmon and i don't know why i was allured to that combination but it was gross. I also had a stomach ache for the rest of the day and so did my family. The servers were nice. Service was great, but what was that.

Yelp
We finally made it to Moxie Steak House. We wanted to get in there earlier, like on day 1, but life happens. Four of us went to celebrate a friend's birthday, yes she was part of the group. We had reservations and arrived at 6. We started with a perfect cocktails and moved into Ceaser salad for the table and constructed at the table and Burrata. Both excellent.  My partner had the foolish fish of the day which was excellent. The rest of us had Angus beef rib eye's. Again all excellent. The sole, (Foolish Fish of the Day) was especially great.  I'm always impressed when a steak house can deliver an excellent fish dish especially something as delicate as sole. We had a bottle of the Luuma cab with dinner. It's a lighter cab than most of the big gun cabs from Napa but still flavorful and would order again.  The service is great and the place has ambiance.  The rib eye eaters all opted for the Angus beef instead of the Holstien beef. The Holstien are still grass fed but finished on carrots. Lots and lots of carrots which give the meat a sweeter taste. Maybe next time when I have a filet. As we left we realized we knew the bartender. We should have know given the drinks.  We were big fans of Donna at Little House Cafe and she delivers again at Moxie. We will be back.

Yelp
The best quality steak house on the island of Alameda. Executive che8f Dana Meadow created a beautiful menu with daily specials, fish of the day, and of course daily desserts. My bartender/server Trevor from Alley and Vine restaurant was professional, service with details and courteous. Good selections of wines.

Yelp
Tried Moxie for brunch. It was fine, but nothing special. Got eggs and steak skewers. I didn't want the spicy sauce, so it was on the side. But no salt or pepper even on the steak; very bland. Based on the reviews, it seems better for dinner. Service was lacking though it was very empty. I had to point out that I needed a steak knife for my steak. Duh. The server said he forgot. Also, they were busy folding napkins and didn't check on me very much. For these prices, I'll try somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Went there last Sunday for me and my parent's anniversary. We been walked by everyday before and we finally got to see how that was. Still think the place a little bit pricey but the foods and services are fantastic. Highly recommend here if you need to celebrate any special day in your life, I am sure you will have a good time.

Yelp
Really impressed by everything we had. Prime rib, Brandt farms NY steak, mash, and potatoes dauphinois. I don't go to steak places much but you could taste the quality in the beef. I'm sure this will be fighting words, but the prime rib was better than House of... (HOPR). They're not cutting corners on sourcing or mass producing meat. There's a few details that could be better... bump up the decor. There's a few things that lack that up scale and fancy vibe. but that's not really the style here. it's not going to have kitchy Ruth chris, Texas road house or cattleman's. Prices are high, but it matches the market. It's not crazy, but would be nice to drop a few bucks. is still an ok value and good for a special occasion. Overall, I'll be back especially for Sunday prime rib.

Yelp
Everything was so overly salty- would have been excellent if not for that Mushroom croquettes were excellent, potatoes au gratin as well. Brussels sprouts a little burnt

Yelp
The t bone steak and the cocktails were very good. The potatoes are good as well and they had a variety. They are still new but they did a great job and service was personal and excellent. The interior is tastefully decorated. I would definitely come back!
