Moxy was the perfect hotel while I was in Boston during my daughter's orientation week at Emerson College. The hotel was extremely clean and had an incredible, inviting aroma as soon as you walk into the building. The rooms are small, but adequate. The bed was very comfortable and the views were awesome. My room was very quiet and peaceful. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food at the bar was delicious. The location was the best part. It was in walking distance to many, many restaurants and shopping, as well as the subway. It is really perfect for anybody wishing to visit the Boston Commons and really great for Emerson College parents. It is also in walking distance to Tufts Medical Center. The Charle's River is a short walk, too. I highly recommend The Moxy. I will definitely book a room there next time I'm in Boston.

The rooms are tiny, but incredibly comfortable and tidy. With a clean bed, there was barely enough wiggle room on each side of the bed to come and go. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city. The sound of the air conditioner, however, helped produce some white noise. Our welcome experience to the hotel was lovely. Staff were super engaging and kind. We were offered welcome drinks and a $35 credit towards food and beverage, I believe this is to offset the $40 destination fees that was charged. We had our welcome drinks at the bar, not long after check-in, and we both chose a signature drink, which admittedly was like water. Probably would’ve been better off with the wine or beer. The daytime vibe of this hotel is very different than the nighttime vibe. During the morning you see a lot of people on their phones are on their laptops working in the lobby. But in the evening, there is a DJ and it turns into what feels like a club. A bit shocking on a Wednesday!

First of all, DO NOT BOOK THROUGH TRIVAGO. They made a reservation, cancelled it, booked it again and then cancelled it again and then booked it again. When I went to check in I was talking to the front of house staff and they had mentioned that I was the fourth person THAT DAY to have problems with check in. Second of all, the showers are extremely slippery. There is no shower mat or anything to add texture so if you're not careful with how you're stepping you will slip and fall. My mom was unfortunate enough to have this happen to her and sustained an injury to her knee and back. Third, the room at night is incredibly noisy. The room does come with a noise maker and I suggest you use it. It doesn't completely negate the sound of Chinatown but it does help to an extent. If you need a quiet place to sleep this is NOT THE PLACE TO DO SO. The rooms are also tiny. Booked a queen bed, got a double twin. There are a few comments about the 'destination charge'. They do charge you 35$ a day for a destination fee but give you vouchers that are applicable for food and drinks at the bar (like two drinks plus an extra 2 dollars). The drinks were good and I recommend using the vouchers since you are paying for it. On the bright side, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is pretty convenient.

I stayed at the Moxy Hotel Boston for a night out with my friend and it was an awesome experience. We didn’t want to drive back home after going out in the city so this was the perfect spot. Sarah C and Miriame took care of us and made the whole stay worry free even though we checked out around 2:30 AM. The service was excellent, the room was clean and cozy, and the location right in the heart of Boston made it super convenient for enjoying the night out. I highly recommend staying here if you want a fun and stress free city experience with great service.

This reviews is based on service. Overall, the staff was super polite, friendly, and helpful. There was one small mishap with the front desk at checkout. Things happen as we are all human. However, in my opinion, it is how you handle it that counts. The staff at the Moxie were super responsive via email and really took care of me in providing amazing service and in above and beyond resolution to my complaint. Well done, Moxy. The hotel is priced extremely well for Boston in that location, and a very good value in my opinion. There is a bit of street noise, but they ask you upfront if you would like a quieter room. I chose the room with a view and was not disappointed. All hotels these days have a resort fee, but the Moxy actually gives you that resort fee back in credits for the bar/restaurant. I thought that was a nice touch. Most resorts will just charge you and not give it back.

Great stay at Boston Moxy Downtown! Room was clean, and friendly staff greeted me and got me into my room a bit early. Very fun decor and vibe with a rooftop bar to boot! Walkable to many food/drink/shopping options and steps away from the Boylston T station. Rooms are for 2 max across this brand, so be aware if traveling with more than 2 people.

Heaven or Hell? Depends on what you're here for. Leisure? 8/10 Business? 1/10 And I'm here for leisure. Location: Convenient located on the edge of the historical downtown, 10 minutes walk from the downtown crossroad, doorsteps away from Orange line which would take you to most of the important attraction sites. Rooms: If you've been to Japan, you'll understand how small the rooms are. But they are clean and functional. Staffs: Everyone I've encountered were nice, cheerful and energetic, nothing to fault here. Why not for business? Loud at night, hotel crowded with partiers, lack of business amenities.

Nice room, compact but manageable. Great location near Boston Commons, Chinatown and South Station.||Complimentary amenities like coffee and ice are available only at the front desk. Tea is not complimentary.||The biggest issue I had is the forced daily destination fee with the $35 bar credit which locks you into using it on the very overpriced food and drinks of not great quality.

Yelp
I recently visited the bar at the Moxy in Boston, and while the experience had its challenges, bartender Dante made it unforgettable. The bar itself was wildly understocked--only one beer was available, and the entire cocktail menu was off-limits because so many ingredients were missing. For a hotel bar, this was pretty disappointing. However, Dante was the saving grace of the our stay. We made sure to stop in every morning he was in. He was hilarious, kind, and genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a great experience despite the situation. He navigated a barely functional bar with incredible skill, creativity, and a fantastic attitude. If the Moxy can properly stock their bar, Dante would make it a must-visit spot. Until then, his professionalism and charisma are carrying the place. Dante, 5 stars.

Yelp
Great location. Surrounded by plenty of good eats, and things to do. More than likely you will be parking at the beach street garage which is about a 5 minute walk away. However there are parking spaces in the front so you can unload your bags first, which I wish I knew Before lugging them through ChinaTown When you walk in your greeted with an event calendar, we were disappointed that the Sunday DJ night was not happening as it said on the calendar but no biggie. We definitely want to come back and experience one of those events. 2nd floor is home to the front desk, as well as the bar. The customer service at both the bar and the front desk were good but nothing to write home about.... I will say we had an issue with our toilet not flushing when we got to the room as well as our key reader on the door dying, but they got someone on it and it was fixed right away. You do get a $35 voucher for each night you are staying, and coupons for free drinks. (as you do pay an equivalent resort fee each night) you can then vouchers use towards meals or drinks, but it can only be applied to one bill. This was nice as we had planned to have a meal and some drinks at the hotel one of the days we stayed. Admittedly the signature cocktail and the fig pizza were DELICIOUS! The rooms were very small and quaint. They had floor to ceiling windows... speaking of ceiling what is with the hostile cement ceilings!? Lol. They provide earplugs if you're bothered by the city noises or maybe if you're on a lower level the music may bother you. Overall I would love to stay here again, but I am young and enjoy a "quirkier" hotel experience, and I can see how it's not for everyone.

Yelp
I wanted to rate with 5 stars, but there were a couple things I have to note that push me to give the Moxy in downtown Boston an "ok" rating. I got a corner room with a nice view, but it also happened to be an accessibility room so the door had this interesting mechanism where it would automatically bust open upon key entry, stay locked open for several seconds, and then shut. If you try to pull it shut on your own, it's like playing tug-o-war! The room was definitely on the "cozy" side, meaning it was like a studio loft and meant for one person to move around in without too much issue. My only issue with getting a good night's rest was on the Friday night of my stay. A group of "hooligans" decided to have a dance party right outside the hotel at 2am and I was forced awake due to the noise disturbance. A limo was blasting music while people were dancing around it. I was definitely not happy at all, but when I called the front desk, they didn't do much to help and in fact, dismissed my complaint as if I shouldn't complain, given that it was a Friday night and that the hotel was "near a bunch of bars and clubs". I was taken aback by this attitude and this definitely influenced my lower star rating. Fortunately in the two nights after I didn't face issues with noise. The imposed "destination fee" is quite a drag...yes, you get a $30 credit each night of your stay to spend on food and drinks, but if you don't want to get your food needs met at the hotel, it can feel like a waste of money. I did manage to use it for breakfast on my last morning, and had some decent breakfast tacos, but I did not appreciate the ample amount of plastic waste right outside the hotel restaurant...instead of being lazy, they should for sure offer silverware and plates for in-dining patrons, and not just give everyone to-go cartons for their food. It was not even 10am when I saw the garbage right outside already full to the brim! Moxy hotels definitely bring a sense of style and feeling chic, but I found it to be overpriced for some of the things I experienced. There's also plenty of hotels in downtown Boston to choose from, so do your research beforehand to help decide what's best for your needs and what fits your priorities.

Yelp
The best thing the hotel has going for it is its location. The Moxy tries to be edgy and trendy, targeting a younger audience. This is evident throughout the hotel, from the entry/decor to the shitty pop music piped throughout public areas. The hallways on each floor are dark and dank. it feels like to stepped into a bad 1950 noir film. The rooms are very small. My partner commented they feel like furnished storage lockers. There is 0 storage in the rooms, no mini fridge, no safe, no dresser or any kind of flat surface/counter tops to set things on!! everything is exposed. what do you do get are a bunch of hooks on the wall where they provide a hanging table and a hanging fold up chair to assemble in an already cramped space. If you want to hang up any clothes, there are a few hangers on hooks up on the wall for you. The TV in our room didn't work. The food here is really bad. If we had to pay for our meal we would have been pissed, but as Marriot Bonvoy members, we received 2 $35 food vouchers. If other Moxy hotels are this bad, we will not be booking with them again.

Yelp
Moxy is not my go to Marriott property, but it is a very good choice in Boston. Stayed again earlier this month and love the location, great for walking anywhere in the city with quick access to the T as well. Steps away from Chinatown, the theater district, Boston Commons, Newberry St. etc. The hotel is better than the typical Moxy being in a modern glass tower vs. a 4 or 5 story cookie cutter. If you score an upper floor, you'll likely have great views of the city. I was upgraded to a nice high floor corner room this time, so extra room and outstanding views of downtown and Cambridge. I'm not going to get into the basics with Moxy as a brand - you know what to expect and they are consistent, so if you can look past some of the "idiosyncrasies" (like your room table folded and hanging from the wall, etc), you'll appreciate this property.

Yelp
We stayed for 1 night at the moxy as I got this on my points and hotel was very close to where we had to go for the night. The service and check in process was seamless. I asked for an upgrade, however there is no room upgrades. Only floor upgrades at the moxy. We stayed on the 17th floor with nice views of Boston. Moxy is a very simple hotel. The rooms are literally the size of my closet with the smallest beds. All of the furniture are foldable and hung on the walls. Thankfully we only stayed 1 night, did not even stay 24 hours. The staff also provided us with a $35 food voucher (which we used for our breakfast avocado toasts) and 2 free drinks at the bar. Overall, would I opt to pay and stay here again with my hubby, likely not. But with points, sure. Also they offer free coffee, hot chocolate and donuts! Definitely nice touches!

Yelp
The best part of this hotel is the location. Has very much of a hostel feel, with tiny rooms and few amenities. Our room had no carpet, no table or chairs, no closet, and no microwave or refrigerator. If you plan on ordering food in or bringing to your room, you will have to eat on the bed. The bare cement ceiling is evocative of a jail cell, and from our location on the 6th floor the street sounds below were very loud. Earplugs came with the room, which provided some relief. Due to the cramped size of the room, if you are over 5'5 and 150 lbs navigating the room will be a challenge. For what we paid ($350 US per night) we were given hostel type accommodations. The front desk clerk was nice, and the location to attractions was excellent.

Yelp
I travel a lot for business and have the opportunity to stay in a wide variety of hotels. Marriott is always a good option where I know what to expect. Knowing that The Moxy is a Marriott property was excited to try it out. Maybe I'm too old to stay here. Maybe I'm not their target demographic. Overall it was not a comfortable stay. The aesthetic is very industrial, lots of neon, bright colors, dim lighting, and cement. The environment itself is LOUD. Not people talking loud, but like walking into a club. When I got to my room the "loud" expectation was reinforced by a white noise machine and earplugs on the nightstand. The room itself was clean, modern, and had a nice view. There was a bed and a chair and that was it, as there wasn't space for more. They did have a small fold-up table and chair hanging on a wall, but I didn't use them. The bed was VERY sparse. There was a flat sheet and that was about. No real blankets or duvet. Nothing to keep you warm or make it feel plush. Overall, I don't think I'll be staying here again even though the staff was nice and the space was clean.

Yelp
. I never stayed at a Moxy. Chose for appearance online of room and handy location between Green line Boylston and Orange Line Tufts Medical stopd. But the room is small, (not the first modern small room I've stayed in) and lacks necessities i want No table, desk of any size. (Use 2nd floor tables, loungey space.). Tiny and tinier built in night tables . I can deal with the pegs on paneled walk as substitute for a closet or coonin hotel room furniture. No clock or radio. A shelff anywhere would help. Positive aspects including nice shower, hotel amenities for all the unfortunate aspects of room furnishing and design don't make up for me, conventional room fixtures. No room fridge or microwave. No ice machines or buckets. I will have to go to front desk for a ration of ice Will hold bucket and bag of ice from 7:Eleven in next block of Kneeland St I'd even much rather be at "Yotel" for clever compact pleasant room.

Yelp
Stayed for a night to attend a holiday party held at the rooftop bar. I liked the modern style of the room, but it was hands down the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. No closet or set of drawers. There were a few hangers on the wall to hang a jacket. There was quite a bit of traffic noise, I'd imagine because we are only on the fourth floor we heard it even more. The hotel provided ear plugs and the room has a white noise machine. When I saw those I should have figured we were in for some noise The room was clean and we know from visiting the rooftop that some of the higher floor rooms have really fantastic views. My advice: ask to book a room in one of the top floors, likely more quiet with better views but all in all a fun hotel.

Yelp
Moxy hôtels have become my go-to's when travelling in the USA and abroad thanks to their fun atmosphere/decor and nice bar/cafe area that is good for socializing or doing your own thing. This downtown Boston location is close to my work so I pop over for lunch or post work drinks pretty frequently. I love the chill and comfortable look with plenty of seating options and plugs for computers. The menu is somewhat limited but overall very tasty- especially the Naan pizzas and grilled cheese pictured here. Cocktails, food, and bottled drinks from the convenience area are pricey but standard for Boston/hotel and quite good. Love this spot and hope to check out some of the many events/specials they host at the later end of the week!

Yelp
Great location, clean, modern and nice people. I am not such a fan of small minimalist rooms or a noisy city all night.
google avatar

Vanessa A.

Yelp
Not sure why there are negative reviews/ the location is perfect for a night at a show or if traveling for business close to everything. The staff were great, hospitable, they smile and the rooms were clean. The noise was fine, we did not need ear plugs but maybe because it was a weekday and our room was in the 23rd floor. I can see how sound could carry as the rooms are not carpeted. Love that the rooms and lounge, lobby and cafe have massive windows for natural sunlight to come in. Check in and out was easy! Parking right around corner or down the street you can get a spot with hotel QR code. Would stay here again.

Yelp
I am a fan of Marriott properties but not this one. My room was small even for a boutique hotel. No desk, no closet, no room for bags, low bed height, and one uncomfortable chair. Lighting was odd all over the hotel. The bar was ok, breakfast was good. Only redeeming factor was it's in the theater district. I should have stayed further out and used the T. Parking was awful as there is none. Bed was uncomfortable. If you are over 30 or a business traveler, there are better options. Will not select Moxy again. Stayed here in October 2023

Yelp
When deciding where to stay during my time in the Boston area, my mind instantly went to Marriott since I'm a Bonvoy member and they usually have a wide selection of their brands in major cities. The Moxy stood out to me for several reasons - the modern theming, location in downtown Boston, and good reviews all played a role in my decision to stay here. Like most of my hotel reviews, I'll break this down into pros and cons - so here we go! The biggest pro the Moxy has is its location - it's in the heart of the theater district in Downtown Boston, and you can easily walk to several of the attractions in the area. Boston Common, Cheers, Omni Parker House, the North End, and the Waterfront are all within walking distance. The theming is also a pro - it's a mixture of funky and industrial with lots of neon, pink and black accents, and exposed cement walls/ceilings. I feel the hotel caters to the younger crowd, though I saw guests of all ages during my stay. Amenities are another pro - when I checked in I received two free drink vouchers to use at the hotel bar and three free meal vouchers (I'm assuming one for each night of my stay). They also host a lot of parties and events here both in the bar area and on their rooftop - the elevators have a calendar with all their events - I was really impressed with everything they had going on. The hotel is also large - 23 floors with a rooftop area, I didn't get a chance to go up but I can imagine the views were great. For cons, I would say the rooms weren't my favorite. I kept my expectations in check knowing the type of hotel it was, but still the room was a little too small for my taste, and a lot of the stuff was foldable (ie the table and chair) with little room for them if unfolded. The bed wasn't really comfortable, and it was too low to the ground (along with the toilet). I take it for what it is, as I feel the room kinda fits the aesthetic of the hotel - it's just not 100% my aesthetic. Parking can be a con depending on how you look at it - there's no valet, and if you want to park you have to use Tufts Medical Center Garage down the block at a $40/day rate. It's better than no parking, so I really can't complain. To close, I need to give props to the staff - everyone I interacted with was really friendly and enhanced my stay. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Moxy - it's a cool hotel with a lot of amenities in a great location, and I would definitely consider staying here again when I return to Boston.

Yelp
Moxy? Gurl, where did you come from? Late night on the interwebs searching desperately for an AirBnB for a one night stay, I came upon a "room you don't have to clean". OK, fine. That works. It's one night... ...excellent choice, Brandon! The Moxy proved to be a wonderful choice. Walked in - modern and welcoming. Check-in is on the 2nd floor, don't be alarmed, it's all legit and good. Got our check in process complete and learned we had free drink vouchers and food discount vouchers - SCORE! The room was lovely. Tiny but lovely. We had everything we needed, the staff was wonderful. I'll admit the rooms are sound proof but we made the most of it and enjoyed the "company" of others. It's playful, fun, and accessible to so many great features of Boston - here for a night? This is a yes. And the bathrooms are fabulous. You can't go wrong with a tiny room with a fabulous bathroom - amirite?

Yelp
Love this hotel. All Moxy hotels are fun so much personality! Upon entrance you'll smell the lobby scent like lavender, something that relaxes you. I love hotels that adds this extra details for their guests. Front desk check-in was smooth, no stress. We requested an early check-in, our room was ready. Located at the theater area of Boston. Lots of stores, restaurants, theaters and less than 10mins walk to a train station. They even offered us welcome drinks for each guest complimentary. That's wonderful hospitality! The staff here are so nice from the front desk to the bar and restaurant staff. The room was clean. The restroom as well. Really comfortable bed and the design of the room is amusing even has a retro telephone with a cord! Gotta love it. There's parking available for guests with their cars on-site garage $40. Pets allowed for an additional deposit fee. There's a gym but there's no pool. A rooftop bar with nightly entertainment. It's in a busy street, if you're a light sleeper, pack earplugs - the coolest ever is the room is even equipped with a sleep white noise machine with different choices of white noise. I'll stay in this hotel again the next time I visit Boston!

Yelp
Really cool vibe. I was confused at first because the check in was on the 2nd floor and you had to walk around to find the desk. But not a big deal. Our room was small but just enough for what we needed. The room had so much detail and the window was the size of our room. We sat and people watched for a while every day. The bar was great too! Good coffee in the morning.

Yelp
Small room but super clean and located in downtown Boston! It's a close walk to Freedom Trail and not far from Beacon Street. The price is competitive and the staff is friendly and non-evasive. Check in and out is super quick and it's a short Uber ride to Fenway Park and other areas. I completely forgot to capture pictures of the room but the only thing I didn't like was the bathroom mirror was SO high up that I couldn't see it. Im 5 feet even and my sister is 5'2 and neither of us could use that mirror. Otherwise, was a great stay!

Yelp
I have checked in at the Moxy downtown. First note the Moxy brand is a Marriott property with a unique brand and know what you are reserving before you go to one. That being said the Moxy is a pretty cool hip place. Has amazing floor to ceiling windows. A great shower and a cool bar area on the second floor. My room while minimalistic was comfortable and nice. Note again a Moxy doesn't offer a standard desk, dresser, side table etc. As with any hotel in a downtown there will be noise from sirens loud cars etc. There are earplugs provided.

Angela O.

Yelp
We had a great time! In town for a conference... location is close to convention center... the common area is great in this hotel...
google avatar

Rei K.

Yelp
Super sweet staff, but extreme street noise is a dealbreaker. Tiny rooms, good showe, nice views. However all that is irrelevant if it feels like you have a band playing under your bed. The room was literally thumping at 2 am. Couldn't return.
google avatar

Yelp
I liked the location and fun style of this hotel. It's in the theater district and close to Boston Common, lots of restaurants around. (Try Tatte bakery and Cafe, so good). Anyway, we got in really early, so we stopped by the check in desk (on the 2nd floor) to have them store our bags. They were actually able to get us in the room right away! That was really nice and we appreciated it! When we checked in, we received a coupon to get a welcome drink on them. Plus, we got 2 cards for $25 worth of food and drink at the restaurant on the same floor. We took our card and grabbed breakfast right after we took our bags to the room. The room was cool, it really needed a chest of drawers to store clothing, there wasn't a closet or even any place to put your clothes. That was weird. The bathroom was nice, very stylish. We had a corner room with a city view. One thing I want to make sure to mention is that I thought we would be able to see a nice city view from a high floor, but each day I would go up and see a note saying that the overlook was closed. On our last day, I asked an employee and he said that it hasn't been open in a long time. What a disappointment, the glass (and condensation) made it difficult to get a photo, would have been really nice to go out on the balcony.

Yelp
I choose this hotel for a long weekend anniversary celebration with my husband. I've seen the Moxy in Manhattan but never went in. I always thought it looked cool from the outside. Another reason I choose was because the booking website said they had in and out daily parking which most of the other hotels didn't have. (Upon arrival I was told there is no parking and the website is incorrect ) The rooms are TINY and make no sense. It truly felt like a jail cell. The walls and ceilings were even concrete. The bed was super low to the ground and the pillows very uncomfortable. There was no dresser or closet only an open concept closet which was just hooks on the wall but literally no where to put your clothes. We kept ours in our suitcase but there was no table or anywhere to put it. The food was not great. You get 3 $25 meal vouchers but they charge you for them when you book the room and if you don't use them you lose them. Total waste. The bar had weird blue lighting but on Saturday night was pretty busy with non guests even coming up. I would NEVER stay at a Moxy location again and am really sad that this is how we ended up spending our anniversary.

Yelp
Rooftop bar, location right in the heart of things- what more could you want? Rooms are small, and the noise from the street did carry even up to us on the 19th floor, but other than that the Moxy was great. Both the rooftop and standard bar were absolutely lit on the weekend, and the room was clean with a spacious bathroom and shower. Staff were friendly and helpful and check in, bar and breakfast service were all quick and efficient.

Yelp
We were in Boston for the Spartan race and stayed for the weekend. This was such a cool hotel. This hotel had a club atmosphere with their decor. They had an awesome bar on the 2nd floor and a bar on the rooftop that had an outdoor looking area over the city. The room had a minimalistic vibe, with chairs and a table that was hung up that could be unfolded and utilized. There isnt a fridge, a microwave or a clowet though. We had some champagne that we ordered that greeted us in the room. Also 2 aluminum water bottles that you could purchase and use as well for $6/each. They had a rotary style phone where you could press for bed time stories which was so neat. They also had a white noise machine and provided ear plugs too! We also got 2 $25 vouchers for bar moxy. The bar was a nice open space with decent amount of seating ranging from farm tables to lounge chairs. Plenty of games around too with a table sized connect four and giant jenga. We stopped by the bar in the morning for their breakfast and got the Breakfast bundle which was decent [sausage egg and cheese and bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin, 2 plums and an orange juice]. The next morning, we got some deviled eggs, a coffee and an espresso martini. The eggs were DELICIOUS and so was the espresso martini. It was a perfect blend to start off the morning. Friendly and efficient staff, loved all the artwork and decor and it was definitely one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at! Come here if you're looking for something just a little different!

Yelp
Honestly, not sure why this place is only 3 stars. It literally had it all! First time in Boston, and it was within walking distance to a ton of things to see and do. Our room was cute. Clean and comfortable. Staff is awesome, very accommodating. Upon check-in, we received a $35 food and drink ( both very delicious, btw) credit for each night we stayed plus an additional complimentary cocktail voucher. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back to the Moxy.

Yelp
Loved this hotel! Such an awesome vibe and just the right amount of space for spending a few nights with the fiance exploring boston. The lobby and bar area are really cool, and the breakfast is delicious (we got $25 vouchers for two meals during our stay AND free drink vouchers). This hotel is in a great location that's walkable to pretty much anywhere downtown. Our experience made us Moxy loyalists. It will be one of our top choices travelling moving forward.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly welcoming on arrival, room felt homie with amazing views, had the short rib tacos to hold us over for dinner and was pleasantly surprised on how good they were

Yelp
Hotel rooms have awful sealed windows. You can hear everything outside on the streets until 4am. Not just loud stuff even people talking on the streets. Bathroom shower did not close properly also. It just slid open over and over while showering. A/c cranks on and makes loud buzzing noise. Can't hear TV over the sound it makes. It was insane to deal with the a/c and all the noise out on the street.

Yelp
We stayed 5 nights over labor day weekend, and it was the perfect location for sightseeing. The room is small, but we get a nice view of the Boston Commons every morning when we wake up. From the airport we took the free silver line bus to South Station, and from there it was about a 8 mins walk to the hotel. You are also close to the Chinatown yellow subway line for sightseeing. With our Marriott status, we were able to check into our room at 9:30am. Which was much appreciated to freshen up after a red eye flight from LA. The bar on the 2nd floor also made it great to unwind each evening after walking all over the city. The rooftop bar was not open the weekend we stayed, but we took a peek and it was not open-air anyways. The only con is even though we stayed on the highest floor, you can hear sirens and motorcycles rumbling into the night. They do provide ear plugs, but if you are a light sleeper you will have issues here. The noise that bothered me more was the AC which was quite noisy. We had to call maintenance to completely turn it off at night. They also have a white noise machine by the night stand, but that is even worse for me lol Moxy is situated in the perfect location, however the noise may bother many.

Yelp
GREAT HOTEL/LOCATION -- QUESTIONABLE NIGHT STAFF! I often stay here when in town for work and love this modern hotel for its location, cleanliness, and relaxed vibe. However, I have had the unfortunate experience of arriving late in the evening and dealing with DWAYNE, who is almost always unpleasant and seemingly inconvenienced by having to check me in. Management should remind him of the basics of hospitality, and if he can't deliver, move him to another part of the hotel where he will be away from customers and unable to impact the hotel's brand perception negatively.

Yelp
First, those complaining about the size: this size is the moxy standard, and the website very clearly represents and describes the room. While it might not be ideal for a longer stay, it's perfect for a long weekend with just you or you and one other. I would prefer a king bed rather than a queen bed if I was with my husband, but otherwise the room works well. There isn't a closet, but the hooks are perfect for hanging your clothes. I've stayed at other moxy hotels and have compared them to CitizenM hotels. CitizenM tends to have a bit of an edge and has a small fridge on site, but I will say Moxy Boston went out of their way for me. After I asked about a fridge, a staff member procured a (pretty large) mini fridge for me and brought it to my room almost immediately after checkin. The beds are not the most comfortable I've ever had. Pretty stiff. But the river view rooms have great views and beats the views of the W Hotel across the street (I've also stayed there and have written a detailed review). There is an annoying 25 dollar per day destination fee, which is not unique to Moxy Boston, but they do give you a free drink coupon and a 25 dollar bar/restaurant credit to help offset that. Please keep in mind that you must use the whole 25 dollar ticket in one transaction (use it or lose it). It can't be broken up into multiple transactions. The bar has a few basic drinks and typical bar food (naan pizzas, pot stickers, hummus etc) and a pantry with snacks and drinks. The W and other Moxy hotels I've stayed in has better room service, but there are tons of great restaurants within a short distance. Chinatown is right there too! This hotel is located in the theater district, so great place if you want to catch a show. Parking is confusing because no one was able to give me a straight answer. I was told there was no valet, but when I checked out, there was a QR code on the desk for parking. Once I called and asked and they told me to use "Wheels," which is W's valet service, but when I called back a couple weeks later to confirm, they said they don't associate with Wheels. I just ended up using SpotHero, and while not super convenient, it worked out fine. Overall, I recommend this hotel. Close to the theater district, tons of restaurants, and near a lot of the Revolutionary War tourist sites. And the staff were all super nice.

Yelp
Great location, destination fee, food is below average and service at the bar is slow. All employees are lovely.

Yelp
I enjoyed staying at the Moxy during a work trip. The room is small but nice & clean. I just wish they had a closer or drawers, I hate living out of my suitcase. In addition to the bed, there are two chairs in the room and a small table. There is a huge full body built onto the bathroom wall which I love, but just wish it didn't get covered by the sliding bathroom door. The shower had great water pressure. But it's so small that I hit my elbow really hard on the shower door handle. I did love how it looked like I was just checking in to a brand new room each time I returned from work. The gym was nice. One treadmill wasn't working which caused a line. The peloton seat is broken. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
Stayed here for the weekend for my friends birthday, and it was overall a really smooth experience. From when I was booking it, I was doing some price comparison and found a cheaper rate for the same hotel on Hotel Tonight app. I prefer to make my reservations directly with the hotel, so that I can leave notes, for example, requesting a room on a higher floor for a better view, and leaving custom greeting for the birthday girl. The Moxy was super accommodating and all I had to do was submit an online form and they matched the rate from the app as well as an additional 25% discount for finding a better rate. They personalized the big glass window with a marker message wishing her friend a happy birthday. The hotel is right downtown, as hot of a location as you can get. Check-in is on the second floor and it's such a hip vibe. They offered free hot chocolate with cold whip cream and they had a lot of games and seating on the other side, with big windows that face the city and offer great views. At check in They charge you and additional $25 a night fee nonrefundable but then they give you a $25 gift card for each night that you're staying as well that can be used at the hotel bar/restaurant. The room itself was very clean had a Florida ceiling window, and a pretty great view of the commons. However, it's extremely small like not even enough space for someone to put a roll out bed if they wanted to. Also, there's no storage, no closets, just hooks. the space is so small that the little table for 2 has to be folded and hung on one of the wall hooks in order to allow you to walk in the room. Not much of a place to put your bags without stepping on them all the time. The heater/AC works great though, and kept the room exactly where it needed to be temperature wise all weekend. The bathroom had a really great shower with fast hot water and great pressure. It had a body wash/shampoo 2-in-1 and conditioner in 2 dispensers hanging from the shower wall. Unfortunately there was no vanity set (lotion, shower cup, etc.) I had to walk across the street to the 7-Eleven that night to buy some. We ate at the bar the next day. they don't have a full kitchen, just a toaster style oven right in Plain view, so anything that you order, keep that in mind. I didn't really know that and we tried some food and it was a bit disappointing. The iced coffee, however, was delicious. the server didn't seem to have ever made it before and was used to just pointing people to an area with sugar, packets and stirrers for you to dress up yourself, but was very accommodating, i passed him some a sugar packet to add in while the coffee was still hot before he added the cream and it came out perfect. They have lots of great games. The giant wooden connect four game is falling apart tho and made it Super frustrating to play, as multiple pieces would fall into the same slot. But they were showing the dolphins game so this Miami girl was happy. Unfortunately, the rooftop was closed, for what seemed like the entire weekend as it was not open for lunch or was it open at night. I'm not sure. Personally, I am a super foodie so the bar not having good food was the real reason I rank this fewer than five stars. The stay itself, the stuff in the room were all pleasant. I really enjoyed my overall Moxy experience & the price was great for the location. They even have a photo booth on the ground floor that you can clip your phone into and it takes a great picture of you with great lighting, a little treat. Would def stay again.

Yelp
Oof. This hotel...well, let's just say that the rooms are tiny, the HVAC doesn't work correctly, and for $325/night, you'd think they could spring for a fourth coat hanger, a ceiling, or maybe even a dresser of some sort. I have stayed at hundreds of Marriott hotels around the world, and while this one provides clean rooms in a convenient location, that is about all that can be said for it. There is no furniture in the room, other than a bed and a few items hanging on wall pegs that you can unfold and assemble yourself. It feels like you are being brought into work at an IKEA factory. There is nowhere to hang your clothes, nowhere to put your clothes down, and the view is a spectacular one of a brick wall. Of course, based on the other reviews on this site, it looks like I should be thankful for my brick wall, as it means that I will not be able to hear all the noise from the street at night, which many others have said is a big problem. The staff are friendly and really do seem to care. They just don't have a lot to work with.

Yelp
Worst Marriott property I've ever stayed in. If you are a business traveler or over 35, this hotel is not for us (Platinum Elite) - Front desk/check-in is on the second floor, inconvenient and makes no sense - Parking is four blocks away, you have to check-in first, and then you can't charge it to your room - The rooms are minuscule. Mine was shaped like an "L". The bed barely fit and there was a long useless hallway - no fixed desk or chair. Just a pop-up table too wobbly for a laptop and a thoroughly uncomfortable folding chair - no closet - no drawers - no shelves - the bar was minimalist, my table was sticky, and the food quality was comparable to airport food - the mattress was decent It was impossible to try and work in the room, but I did sleep well

Yelp
Wow wow wow!! I came here to celebrate with my husband for 4 days and Moxy was an absolute awesome stay. The staff is friendly, accommodating and welcoming. They give you free drink coupons when you check in. If your looking to experience night life, fun, bar hoping, close to everything, this is the hotel for you! Thank you Moxy! We had an unforgettable time!

Yelp
The hotel rooms reminds me of a tiny house episode. The room is and should be used to just sleep in. That's it! The hotel itself is very trendy and hip.

Yelp
Moxy is a very hip hotel. Rooms are very small. Things hang on the wall but not really room to use them, if you do use the chair or table hang them back up right away, although I like the concept. I really enjoyed the decorations, the lounge area and the overall cleanliness and art of this establishment. Rooftop open, no bar. Great gym. Thank you for making our stay special; Frank Sara Ever Tori I WOULD RECOMMEND. No parking, $40 garage around the corner. MASK MANDATE, WHY!

Yelp
Love this spot. It definitely isn't like any other hotel I have stayed at before. The vibe at this place is real chill. The rooms are a bit small but it has all of the things you need in a hotel. The bed and room is comfortable. The bathroom is super clean. We really enjoyed the concept. We had a few drinks at the bar then went to the rooftop area. The patio was not open but it was still nice. The hotel has various games to be able to play while having a drink. We loved our stay there; the added bonus was that it was not too far from the theater we went to.

Yelp
Loved staying at this super trendy and fun hotel! The staying included free drinks at their bar and money we could use towards some food. The rooms were small, but we had a great view of the city :) The restaurant/bar was not great (drinks were being made by very young bartenders that didn't seem to know much about drinks other than the few on the menu), but the vibe and music at the bar was fun. Overall, we would definitely stay here based on the great customer service, cleanliness, location and fun vibe!

Yelp
Wish there was a minus zero rating option. Stayed only one night, everything about this place felt sketchy from the minute we walked in the front door. Sketchy looking inside the warehouse-building, sketchy looking and rude employees, sketchy jail cell looking room with gross smelling pillows, bathroom with no soap and a towel, sketchy room charges and fees, sketchy people in the bar/lounge/cafeteria that serves frozen food. I was so not surprised to hear that they recently found 2 people dead in one of the rooms.

Yelp
Settle in, people, because this is going to be a bumpy ride. In a nutshell, this hotel cut every possible corner and doesn't care about the comfort of the people who are spending literally hundreds of dollars a night to stay there. -The noise. It's unbearable. On the 18th floor we were hearing people talking, music from restaurants, etc. We expected some level of that, being in the middle of a city, but what we were not counting on was a man sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL, revving his motorcycle ALL NIGHT LONG. That's when we understood why there were ear plugs, a white noise machine, and a brochure about having trouble sleeping on the nightstand. Obviously, these devices did absolutely nothing to cover the earsplitting noise of the motorcycle. We didn't sleep at all for three nights. When we called the front desk about it, we got a whole lot of attitude and an absolute refusal to help in any way, telling us that it was 'normal city sounds' (sorry, but anyone who has ever lived in a city can tell you that a motorcycle revving all night, every night, in one spot isn't normal city sounds). -The room was TINY. Enough room for a bed and a chair. No closet or any sort of storage space and the extra table and chair were hanging up on pegs on the wall. When we took them down to get some work done, we were crammed into the room with no space to walk. -The sliding door on the bathroom had no latch or lock and there was a one-inch gap around the entire thing so that you could hear exactly what a person was doing in the bathroom. Disgusting. Pics of the gap attached. -The toilet was broken. The seat had somehow become unhinged, so you were sliding around as you were trying to go. Pics of the broken toilet attached. -The outlets were a mess and you had to plug your stuff in juuuust right and hold it in place to get a charge. -There's only one trash can (due to how small the room was) and it was in the bathroom, only for recycling. -The front desk were distinctly unhelpful. I had Googled public transportation, but it was confusing (I love Boston, but its streets aren't totally logical), so I went to the front desk to get help. They had no idea, also Googled it, got frustrated, and then sent me away, telling me to just put it into Google maps. -No ice machine. You have to go to the front desk and request ice. -The restaurant/bar sucks and is incredibly expensive. The food and drinks are trash and their grab and go section is obscenely and laughably expensive (sorry, $4 for one broken granola bar isn't cool). -In the evenings and nights, music is blaring out of every nook and cranny of the hotel. In the elevator, the speakers are not equipped for this sound level, so it's crackly and horrible. And, since the rooms are not soundproofed whatsoever (see first bullet point), it seeps into the room, no matter what floor you're on. You can also hear everything that's going on in the rooms next door. -On my bill, I got charged TWICE for the same Destination Fee/GST Goods and Services Tax. While it's already a BS charge, why did you charge me TWICE??? Pic attached. Sorry, Moxy, but we saw right through your supposedly minimalist aesthetic and into the fact that you are purely for-profit and not at all about the customer. No amount of garish fuschia can cover up your evil ways.

Yelp
I'm typically not a huge fan of the Moxy brand as the rooms are certainly more minimalistic compared to full-service Marriott properties but the simpler rooms don't mean a crappy property. This Moxy is in a great location with quick access to the airport. I stayed for one night before a flight out of BOS and the property was very lively with high energy. I know the Moxy brand is designed to increase interaction between guests and it definitely did. At check in, I received two free drink coupons and $50 on food/bev credits. There is a destination fee of $25/day on the reservation but it's returned to you via the food/bev credit so it's not bad at all unlike other hotels where it goes towards amenities you don't use. The bar and lobby were a great place to hang out and the cocktail/food menu had a lot of great choices. In all, I liked this spot a lot and would stay again. It wouldn't be ideal for a family due to room size but as a solo traveler, it was great.

Yelp
Normally when I visit Boston for work, I stay near my office (in Seaport). But due to limited availability, I tried Moxy near Boston Common. Overall, I was pleased with the experience. First, the location is very convenient, as there are a lot of public transit options nearby and many things within walking distance. I did many 20~ min walks to different parts of the city. Also, the fact that it's so close to Boston Common, the Public Gardens, and even the river (where I went running a couple times) was fabulous. Second, the vibe/aesthetic is young and hip. Sure, it's a little forced (it is a Marriott brand after all) but I prefer this to a stuffy actual Marriott or something similar. The second floor had a bar area with decent drinks and food, and they gave me a free drink card and several voucher offers for the food! I think the only thing I wasn't a fan of was some of the noise outside at night. Even M-Th, there were some revelers and their voices or noises were well heard up on the 13th floor. I've definitely experienced worse in terms of being near a party zone, but it's something worth considering if you're sensitive to sound when sleeping. But that being said, I would definitely come back next time I'm in town. The room rate was very reasonable and I was overall comfortable during my stay.

Yelp
This hotel was better than expected. It has a vintage movie theater decor, the staff is awesome, there are a lot of amenities and discounts on items at the hotel. It's walking distance to the trains, a Dunkin, restaurants and even the historic sites. The room I had was small but clean, and had everything I needed, including a beautiful view. I'll stay here again for sure.
