I was all set to love this Moxy as much as I loved the Moxy in Munich. Alas...they're not the same. I mean, they're the same brand and you get pretty much the same things, but this hotel's rooms are much smaller than the Munich one, and had some quirks that I'm still puzzling over.
It had the same youngish-vibes throughout the hotel, from the lobby to the elevators (which were decorated to make it look like you were inside a jacket pocket) to the bright pink toiletries and hair dryer in the room.
But...the bathroom was right next to the room's entrance - seriously, like all you had to do was take a step from the front door to get to the toilet, which is a bit off-putting, honestly. I don't want to have to worry about someone walking past hearing me tinkle!
The room had a hand-held steamer, but no lotion. It had a tiny microwave, but no fridge. It had a fold-up desk, but no safe. It felt very utilitarian, even for one who knew going in that it wouldn't have some "basic" amenities (nightstands, drawers, etc.)
The best thing about the room was the shower, hands down. The rainfall showerhead helped wash away the stress of travel and sweat from the hot, humid summer weather.
Only one side of the bed - which had a decent mattress, at least - had outlets or any place to plug in devices. The only other outlets were in the bathroom or at the fold-up desk. (Hint, if you need more power, unplug the naked light fixture to reveal two USB chargers and another outlet.)
The best thing about the hotel was the location. It's only a mile to Pike Place - which is how I measure just about everything when visiting Seattle - and situated just a few blocks from the South Lake Union area. Lots of running/walking spaces, plus a nice selection of casual to upscale restaurants within easy walking distance.
Also, if you're thinking about hitting the CVS that's a couple blocks away, just don't. They were so picked over and understocked the one time they went in I just have to believe they were brand new. Instead, hit the Bartell Drugs off of Mercer Street for fully a stocked store and knowledgeable staff.
