Moynihan Food Hall

This is a nice spot to grab a quick bite before a train. There is a good variety of spots, and rather than review each one, I’d recommend walking around and see what appeals to you at the time. There is something here for everyone, and the setting is nice for an inner city train station (much better than the offerings at Grand Central).

The food options are great! The ambience given is definitely restricted due to the train hall but my wife and I had a beer from the bar and it was great, I’ve given atmosphere a 3/5 because of the bathrooms and the homeless people that plague it. Other than that, great space!

Great choices, reasonable prices and plenty of security!! As you’re transitioning from station to train, you need a place to safely do so. The Moynihan Station is breathtaking, but functional. Restaurants, fast food and snacks are all within a two minute walk with plenty of space to sit (while being a patron). I love this place, you will too.

Just opened in 2021, the food hall is part of the Moynihan Train Hall located in the James A. Farley Building across the street Penn Station. The building was the historic US Post office. Clean, beautiful and very spacious it’s a vibrant space with plenty of good food choices.

The food court on the brand new awesome Moynihan train station is amazing. Came here for a Knicks sponsored event but really enjoyed the vibe. Clean, comfortable, modern and the good was delicious. Mini burgers and pizza for the most part. Much more than a train depot

For being a train hall, I didn’t expect the quality or the variety that there was. I wish the seating area was bigger but there was enough seating for everyone who was eating around lunch time. The area was very clean and comfortable.

Ordered vodka pizza (mantecato sauce, sliced mozzarella, parmesan, and homemade breadcrumbs) from the sauce here. It was good very thin but it didn't break when I picked it up. I had a hard time finding a seat to eat since all the seats were taken up by people not eating which is mainly because the main waiting hall has no seats. But overall it was good

The Moynihan Food Hall has a good variety of food choices. There is plenty of seating and is good place to hangout while waiting for your train.

A lot of food choices. Enjoyed that you could scan a QR code to order drinks from The Irish Exit. The bartender brought the drinks to our table quickly and was super friendly. It was a great place to people watch.

My two bffs now live in the Jersey suburbs but come in to the office a few days per week, so Moynihan Hall makes for a good drink and dinner stop so that we can maximize our time together and they can still make the train. This was my first time eating and drinking here and damn, this place gets packed even on a random weekday. We started by ordering drinks from Irish Exit, which were strong and came out quickly given that this place was absolutely packed and bartenders had to come around to take orders. My dirty martini was strong and perfectly made, and the cosmos we continued to order throughout the night were also just right. The ambiance here is like an elevated food hall but a little chaotic. It took us a while to snag a table, but once we did it was fun to be able to order whatever we wanted from the surrounding food stations via QR code and have it delivered to our table. I got a fried chicken sandwich from Jacob's Pickles that was lifechanging. Juicy, tender, crispy. If you're meeting friends who need to catch a train and you're just looking for something casual in the area, this is a great option.

it's inside of Penn station. While you're waiting for the train - LILR, Amtrak, or subway.... In the basement, theres a food court. it reminds me of Essex Marcket but this place has no supermarket. You can find a place to eat easily. Post office is also same building - just in case ppl knew this place used to be post office. Citibank and skin products stores are upstairs near 9th ave entrance. Walgreens is in the basement. I took one star off, my cellphone was very hard to connect. some customers won't put their own garbage to the Trash.......but there's a cleaner walking around. Bathroom is right Infront of eating spots.

A large food hall in the train station; plenty of seating and areas to plug in and grab a bite. Tables have a QR code so you can scan and get food directly to your seat (not all stores participate). They have clean bathrooms, and you can hear the train announcements clearly, so you probably won't miss the train. Food choices are mixed... pretty much no chain or fast food stores here, all small shops that have different styles, from ramen to fried chicken to sushi to salad and pizza. Not bad, but have had better food.

Clean, new, many food choices and convenient bar service! Great for after a long day at work, before taking the train home, or grabbing something before your event at MSG across the street! Try Alidoro for great Italian-inspired sandwiches!

Wow, I was thoroughly impressed on my first visit to Moynihan train hall. It's a dramatic upgrade from the old Amtrak waiting area in the older part of Penn Station. There are a series of takeout places here offering sandwiches, pizza, desserts, coffee, and more. I didn't have a ton of time to explore, but I got a decent meal to eat on my train. It's definitely designed for tourists rather than regular commuters--but that makes sense when your main customers are riding interstate rail. Prices are reasonable for being for tourists. I really enjoyed my banana pudding from Magnolia, which was quite delicious. There are also clean bathrooms right off of the train hall, so don't be afraid to stop there.

There are multiple places to eat from. We ate EAK Ramen. The food was very delicious. The cleanliness of the establishment was amazing. The ambience and overall environment was busy. It is located in a train station which kind of gave it more of like an airport travel vibe, which made it an interesting place to dine.

This is the food court of Moynihan Train Hall. Like the train hall itself, this area was super clean and the choices available was a pleasant surprise. There are food stalls serving sushi, pizza, burgers, ramen, salads, coffee and much more. Several of these were local companies like Jacob's Pickles and Naya. There is plenty of seating too and public restrooms. The seating is not just for food court customers and acts as a waiting area of sorts. As a food court for a train station, this one is easily above average compared to other train stations.

My home office is located at Moynihan Train Station so when I do not feel like bringing lunch, I go downstair for a bite to eat, so far, no disappointment by any of the restaurants within the food court. I have tried the following: Naya, Alidoro, Magnolia Bakery, Blue Bottle, Burch Coffee, Burger Joint.

What a great train hall for Amtrak. The food hall as it's called has a great variety of eateries. From Pizza (duh!), Pastrami sandwiches, sushi, ramen, bagels, fried chicken, coffee, bagels, there is something for everyone. The bar in the middle of the hall is a great watering hole, the bartender mentioned that the place gets packed with locals after work. There really isn't any other place to sit while awaiting your train, unless you want to wait in the Amtrak ticketed passenger area which can be crowded. Moynihan is right across the street from NY Penn and Madison Square Garden where you can ride the trains all over NY and ride into Newark airport. Easy and cheap transportation.

I got the vegetarian bowl from La Esquina. The chef was nice and prioritized me after I mentioned I needed to cancel my order to get on my train, but the bowl itself was bland. It was missing avocado and I'm pretty sure some salsas too? So it ended up being basically just a bowl of white rice and black beans.

An excellent place to wait for your train. It has a lot of options for eating and it a good environment. I really like the Irish bar!

They have a pretty good selection of different types of food, including salad, pizza, burger, bagels, etc., etc... I think everyone can find something that they want from one of the vendors. I was happily surprised to see Jacob's Pickles, Magnolia Bakery, Maman among many food/drink vendors. The area is open enough so that you can walk through the area without much difficulty, even during the busy hours. They are kept clean and all the signage are clear enough for you to be able to find the vendor of your choice. They have a public restroom right by the food court, which is helpful, unless they close them down for cleaning for a bit. Then, you have to go all the way to the other side of the station on the second floor. The station itself does not have much seating areas, so you see people sitting on floor everywhere. There are some seating in the food hall.

The rice is the blandest rice that I've ever had. It was wet but also dry at the same time. I had ordered the taco special and it had said I could choose 2 tacos. I was only able to choose one and ordered the brisket. I had asked for no beans and just extra rice thinking it was actually going to be Mexican rice. The brisket tacos were surprisingly quite flavorful. They cheaper out and did not use 2 taco shells/taco and that left the bottom quite soggy. We had eaten it 5 minutes after getting it and it shouldn't have been breaking apart like it was. The pesto artichoke pizza was okay. Definitely expensive for a slide of pizza. The ambiance of the entire food court is attractive and execution of the place allows for fast service.

Yum! Had a great experience here. All the vendors were nice and helpful. I had one of the pizza spots and they had a vegan sausage option, although beware of the cheese is not plant based in the pizza spots. Really great if you have some time before catching the train.

Great for a quick get together and lots of food choices. Easy access to trains and subway makes this an ideal meeting space.

Just had grinds at the bar on way home but love the excellent eating options from known places around NYC.

A nice food court if you're taking the train or not, they have several great restaurans with options from a coffee shop-desert options-sales-pizza and then Jacob's. The sandwich is fresh, hot and tasty. The fries are fresh cut and the each tastes homemade with a lil dill in it.

After a long day in the city we were headed back to NJ and we were starving. Penn Station leaves a lot to be desired when I think of a good meal. We decided to head upstairs to Moynihan Food Hall and see what was there. There were so many food choices and so much seating. It looks brand new and is so clean. We are at Jacob's Biscuits or Jacob's Pickles. I forgot the name but the food was excellent. Then we got a coffee at Starbucks and headed back to NJ.

This review is specifically just for La Esquina, which is one of the restaurants inside the food hall (it doesn't have its own Yelp page for the Moynihan location). The staff are super friendly--five start for them. However, I can't recommend the food or the prices. I ordered two chicken tacos and they were the blandest tacos I've ever eaten. Not even onion and cilantro in them, no sauce on the chicken, nothing. I ordered the combo, which, in retrospect, was not a deal because I only saved $2. Maybe if I'd ordered the fish or beef tacos I would have saved myself... $4! I didn't even want the drink, so really should have ordered the tacos plus the beans and rice separately. Which, the beans and rice were also bland. The only modicum of flavor in the whole meal was from the tiny, tiny bit of pico adorning the beans and rice. There are better taco places in the city. Get something else at Moynihan while you're there.

Well just a comment about the posted hours. This food court is not open after midnight. We went. Everything but the bar was closed. But in the morning, the croissants were terrific at the bakery. Try the Nutella one!

Finally, opened minus a few that have yet too. Get your salad on at Chopd with the usual suspects. Chopd and the bar are fully operational with Sauce and others yet to come. There's also a nice Duane Reade at the edge of the food hall. Can't wait for Sauce pizza opening soon.

Great ambiance, a wide variety of delicious NYC food options, and great service with plenty of personnel cleaning the hall. It's fantastic. More than just a food area while waiting for your train, it's a real destination.
