"Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday We ate the outrageously crispy beef and chicken sambusas from Moyo Kitchen in the car while it was pouring out. In fact, call us hyperbolic, but we almost mistook our own crunching for thunder. These pockets of meat and vegetables are everything we look for in a fried pastry - they’re portable, fresh out of the fryer, and it’s impossible to eat just one. There’s more than delicious sambusas here though. This spot focuses on dishes from Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, and also serves a great goat stew that you should get with lots of chapatti." - carlo mantuano

Came here for the first time and it was quiet on a Friday late afternoon. The owner and chef made some great recommendations and the dishes were piping hot, fresh, and so flavorful. Service was a little slow, but that only whet our appetite. Happy to support a small business.

I do takeout so I'm not rating the atmosphere. Although, one time I stopped in they had a couple there, he was playing the guitar and she was singing. I'm not familiar with them or their music. It looked like it was a planned event.

I ordered the chicken bowl from them at the Magnuson popup. It cost $28, and they gave me a tiny amount of food. The person at the counter also deliberately hid the price screen from me until after I had put my credit card in, and there were no prices listed on the menu that was there.

My first dish was sponsored by Too Good Togo. The food is EXCELLENT! It’s everything I’d like to eat in a daily basis. The seasoning is perfection being on the milder side. It I’ll make you want more and they have foods that are Low Glycemic. Wish I could have found this place when it first opened, I am huge fan now!!😍😍🤩🤩

I looked over the menu and most was Tilapia fish, but so expensive! I first stood there for a very long time with nobody around to order if I wanted to, when I finally got someone I was frustrated, so I just ordered Sambusa's (2 to be exact), thinking they would be like the ones I fell in love with as a child, so so disappointed when these tiny little triangles no bigger then the middle of my palm came to me for $8+, with very little filling and lots of crispy outside! My heart was so broken because I have been looking fir years for someone that makes them and these were not it, they weren't as advertised (filling wise) they were very skimpy on their filling and/or the ingredients advertised, yet it was so much so that most of the ingredients weren't in the filling . I don't know if it was because it wasn't enough filling or just the ingredients were missing, however disappointed in the sambusa all the way around! When I was a child I fell in love with African food because of the original families that came with pride in their food and wanted to share it, now it's just about money with no care or heart in the food!! Tilapia is a cheap fish but prices were not cheap at all! Business was none and very slow service! Maybe someone else may enjoy it so give it a try! I have a very specific palette for good taste and there just wasn't enough of what I bought to find flavor!

Went to pick up order at specified time through app and restaurant was closed- reached out to resolve issue via phone and was not answered, 2 other customers had same issue as me. This was pretty disrespectful of the business to do. I would not recommend this restaurant since they offer pick up times when they are not open and are unresponsive to contact.

Google
List themselves as open for pickup on food apps when they're closed. Don't make the drive unless you explicitly call them

Yelp
Hearing about Spice Bridge from many friends, my fiance and I wanted to try at least one dish from all the vendors there. When we went on Saturday afternoon, Moyo Kitchen and Taste of Congo were there. From Moyo Kitchen, we got the kuku wa kupaka, a marinated chicken dish with a coconut sauce and a bed of rice. The cost came to around $23. From the first bite, we kept gravitating for more because everything was flavored so well, from the chicken to the sauce to the rice. They were so generous with the portion size too. The takeout box was loaded up to the brim. One suggestion I have is that with the amount of rice given, adding a bit more sauce and chicken would balance the proportions out more. Overall, I would love to come back sometime and try their other dishes!

Yelp
There's a reason Zanzibar was historically one of the spice islands: this food is unusually tasty, with flavors you won't find elsewhere outside of East Africa. Surprisingly authentic, cooked to perfection. Try the $28 Samaki Wa Kupaka (Baked Tilapia with Coconut Sauce), cooked the traditional way with bones to preserve flavor. Also the $15 Chakula Cha, a flavorful soft cabbage with just the right amount of spice. A real treat if you're looking for a taste of East African cuisine

Yelp
Moyo Kitchen is one of the businesses at the NEW Spice Bridge Food Hall in Tukwila. The two cooks are Mwana Moyo, originally from Tanzania and Batulo Nuh, a Somali, was raised in Kenya. Together, Moyo Kitchen offers East Africa foods. We ordered their Samaki wa Kupaka, which is salmon or golden pompano in coconut sauce. On the day we went, it's golden pompano only. It's served with a small salad and your choice of pilau rice or chapatti, i.e. flat bread (our choice) for $15.99. The golden pompano is not at all fishy, meaty and flavorful, and the coconut sauce was excellent. This was an excellent dish, and I highly recommend it. We also ordered a piece of the sambusa which is grounded beef, chopped veggie, and impeccably seasoned. I recommend this one too. The mahamri is a Swahili breakfast bread made from coconut and cardamom, aka a coconut donut. The Spice Bridge Food Hall strive to support refugees and immigrants by offering kitchens and retail spaces for them to start a small business. Currently, 8 businesses are sharing time and use of the facilities, 3 days each per week with Mondays closed. Check the Spice Bridge website for details. This new hall is very clean and well organized. There are plenty of signs/menus to guide you on your food adventure. There are also plenty of hand sanitizer! Dining is available at the outside seats/benches.

Yelp
I always search within the reviews of places for the word 'vegetarian' and since none came up for Moyo Kitchen, I figure I better write one. The item labeled vegetarian on the physical menu was Chakula Cha Mbogamboga. It was a spinach dish in a delicious sauce. Super satisfying. Interviews say they source their spices from Zanzibar, that helps explain the fantastic flavors! Bonus: The 'Spice Bridge' food court! More concepts like this please! I'll be returning!

Yelp
Moyo Kitchen is such a hidden gem!!! Do not sleep on this place. It is delicious and convenient to get to (easy parking everywhere!) I picked up Moyo Kitchen for my hubby's birthday bc Somali food (and basically any African cuisine lol) is his fave. Moyo Kitchen is our NEW favorite!!! We both agreed that the spiced rice (the raisin rice) could be eaten by itself bc it was that good. The goat meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The rice and goat meat was our favorite, and I highly recommend it. Call ahead to ask when they will be making goat :) We also ordered the Sambusas and got to try their donuts and those were yummy additions to the meal, so I also recommend that too. The portions are generous-- you will be full! And you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu, truly. The ladies behind the business are wonderful people as well. Know that your money is going towards yummy food, and an incredible women-owned, BIPOC-owned, business. We will be back for sure!!! Love you Moyo Kitchen!

Yelp
A meal from Moyo Kitchen is always a treat. Last week I had the Tandoori Chicken, which was tender and delicious, and served on a bed of rice. The rice was incredible, with a mixture of seasonings that were subtle but worked together so well. I think star anise, cinnamon, garlic and ginger were in there for sure? I'm not certain but just know it was SO good.

Yelp
I love this place. My goal is to have everything on the menu, but for some reason I keep coming back to the sambusas. I've had sambusas two nights in a row this week. And the cooks' smiles are always welcoming!

Yelp
I drove an hour to try this place. Sent husband in to pick up order, in retrospect I should have given instructions to check. 1/2 of order was missing when we got home. And the other half was NOT what I ordered. But the chai tea was delicious. Suppose my mistake for not checking. I recommend to thoroughly check everything to make sure you get what you paid for. At least it's for a good cause.

Yelp
My family got takeout lunch from Moyo Kitchen today. We got one of everything on the menu, and it was all SO good. My kids are picky eaters, and even they liked it. The goat stew was the best goat I've ever had (I'm not normally a fan of goat, but my husband loves it so I've tried it a lot). The rich flavors from all of the spices they use are excellent. Definitely get the chai and donuts, they are the perfect end to a meal.
