First time going to Mozie's today. I live in NB but rarely go to Gruene, and I was impressed. They were packed at 1:30pm on a Thursday, which is a good sign. I sat at the bar and ordered the chicken salad sandwich, grilled with cheese, lettuce, and onion. For $12, that was a fantastic sandwich. Service was great, the bartender was attentive and on top of things, even though she was obviously busy. I'll definitely be back and whole-heartedly recommend Mozie's.

Google
First time in the area and I'm so glad we chose this spot to eat! Busy on a Saturday night, but easy to find an empty table. We were taken care of by Shawn and he was AMAZING! From the beginning to the end, Shawn made sure we had everything we needed from water refills, to boxes for leftovers. I made a comment on how the champagne dressing for the side salad was awesome and he gave me a little to go container with said dressing to take home with me! Talk about great service! He was such a joy and whenever I'm in the area, I'm definitely coming back to see him!

Google
Rustic Texas style bar and grill with great made from scratch food. Favorites are the Char King burger, meatballs, and roasted garlic fries. We go often for lunch and dinner. Would have given it a 5 star rating today as usual but the roasted garlic oil usually used on the fries was almost non existent it being the namesake of the dish.

Newest adventure: Kennedy (sp?) was attentive and friendly as usual! The food was mmm mmm good. The drinks were faster than last time. We're feeling all the L❤️VE tonight!! 😍 --- ORIGINAL POST --- This has become one of our must-go-to-places when we're in the area. Shoot, even if I'm 30 minutes out I'll say "we're in the area" for a trip to Mozie's! We LOVE their Martinis and cocktails. My wife also enjoys their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Their Anticucho on a bed of chips is my absolute favorite dish! It's a well-seasoned and marinated beef kabob that tastes like the famous beef on a stick we find at San Antonio's NIOSA event during Fiesta. It's a little tart, super tender, and incredibly flavorful. Try their salsa too! It's pretty addicting. And I must say, they have one of the BEST strawberry cakes 🎂 I've ever had! The staff is always friendly and attentive. Whether you're sitting at the bar for a quick round or at a table for dinner and drinks, Mozie's is the place to "cheers!" with your favorite people! Google
Very good service in a smaller area that serves some pretty decent food and cocktails. Seems to be pretty popular with the locals. Service of drinks and food was not very fast but there is always a TV or two to keep you occupied while you wait.

Google
This place has really great food! My chicken sandwich was delicious and so were the fries. Our waiter Geo was fantastic too! I would highly stopping to eat here especially since it’s air conditioned here!!!!

Google
We liked that long, old-time saloon bar and ate right there. The bartenders were friendly, the burger and panko Parmesan chicken were delicious, and the onion rings were exceptional! Didn’t think it was too expensive and will visit here again sometime.

Google
This place was awesome! A group of 4 of us stumbled in here after the pumpkin patch in Gruene and it was the best decision. The atmosphere is small- little home town-y vibe. If it’s crowded it can be a little loud but not bad. The service, even though it was busy, was great. Emma was awesome & attentive. The food was SMACK-tastic!!!! We went in the first day of the fall menu and the Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini was to die for!!! I will 100% be returning!

Yelp
Cute little restaurant right in the middle of Gruene. Fish tacos were flavorful - second time I have gotten them. Kids and hubs shared the spaghetti and there was plenty to go around.

Yelp
Recommended by family so stopped in for lunch. Narrow dining room, sort of odd set up. Seated ourselves and we're not greeted for a good 10 mins. There were 3-4 servers standing around at the end of the aisle towards the restrooms. There was one server handling 90% of the tables but no one thought that maybe one of those standing around should take a table not in the section. Ordered the nachos and pickle/jalapeño combo. Nachos came out and looked weird but they were great. Pickles and jalapeños were good too but jalapeños way better. Decent lunch but they need to work on service.

Yelp
Good food, typical bar food for the most part but still good! Great waitress and a cool vibe. The margarita was amazing!

Yelp
Must Stop in town , great food, a service was good , drink awesome really a great place to stop an enjoy.

Yelp
Love this favorite place! My go to order are the nachos. (You can add chicken or beef) The service is always on point from the moment you walk in. You will love the older building and amazing location in Gruene TX. Don't forget to try a seasonal drink!
google avatar

Yelp
Mozies is our favorite place in Gruene. The food is always great. Highly recommend the burger or steak! Usually packed but it's worth the wait!

Yelp
Today I had the panini and my wife had the Ruben. We split each one, getting half of each, still a full sandwich. The sandwiches come with thin fries, homemade potato chips, & one other choice. We did the same with our sandwiches and spilt the sides. It was all DELISH! Oops, we also had nachos as an appetizer. They were prepared proper, with cheddar cheese, not the processed American cheese some use. These were also great, and topped with jalapeños. I ordered the guacamole topping, which I recommend. It was COLD outside, & their coffee was hot & fresh, as it's supposed to be. Completely 5-star!

Yelp
Yummy! First time here and I've been coming to Gruene forever! My bad. I had the tenderloin pasta, so good! My husband had a burger that he enjoyed. They didn't have a kids menu which is why I gave 4 stars BUT our server suggested a breaded piece of chicken with a side of pasta and we chose marinara for her sauce. Big serving for a kid but so good!! The drinks were good also, I had the spicy marg and my husband got a Bloody Mary - that came with a whole beer! That was a first. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Gena S.

Yelp
Their sliders and onion rings are amazing! Bartenders and servers are always friendly.

Yelp
We had the best time here. The restaurant/bar is super cool. We sat at the bar and Madde' was our server. I had a pomegranate martini that was made to perfection, not super sweet, not too tart. I ordered the panko chicken sandwich. It was super good. my husband ordered the meatball sub with a wedge salad, which was really good also. Claire was behind the bar also. Both ladies were very attentive and a lot of fun to talk to and watch make drinks. Tim stopped by to check on your visit, he has some great stories about Gruene Hall and the area. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back when we are back in NB mid December.

Yelp
As residents of Gruene for seven years, we have eaten at every local restaurant more times than we can even recall. My favorite dish for most of our time here has been The Panko Chicken Pasta from Mozie's. Over the last 2-3yrs it has too often been a sad disappointment. I don't know much about the restaurant business, but this dish is AMAZING when done well, and tragically disappointing when it is not. It was so frequently bad over the last two years that I stopped ordering it. Recently my husband brought me leftovers, and it was delicious, so tonight we splurged and ordered to-go. Again the chicken was over-cooked and dry, the pasta sauce was watery and flavorless, with three small strips of red bell pepper, and it seems like they mixed an entire salad of lettuce and tomato into the dish. We want to love Mozie's again, but the inconsistency from their kitchen is a deal-breaker.

Denise H.

Yelp
Jeff was managing tonight. He turned the television off 20+ minutes early right after we ordered. And when we questioned him about it he acted like he couldn't be bothered. We live here and know the normal protocol for closing. They made it clear we shouldn't expect anything different. We left full drinks on the bar.

Bill C.

Yelp
I'm a local - go there 1/month or so. Took friends from out of state for dinner Friday nite. Plate gets spilled on one of our guests. It happens. And not a small issue - she's covered from chest to below lap. You'd think it worthy of at least a "sorry". Nope. Staff brought lots of napkins. No free drink, no taking it off the tab until I asked if they seriously weren't removing it. They did. The drinks are good- but they'll be all I ever go back for. Food is only intermittently good anyway.

Yelp
A great place to stop while wandering the wineries in the area. I came with my friends and we had an excellent experience. The food is good quality and porion for the price and the staff are very friendly. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious! It has a smoky flavor and is well-balanced. The fresh bread is also a plus. The building is very old and interesting to look at. My friends and I will keep this place in mind when we return to the area!
google avatar

Bryana R.

Yelp
The place was very busy when we went but we were able to get a table with no problem. They had multiple games on and wasn't too loud and was comfortable. Our waiter was great and was so nice. I got the Chicken Sandwich with the Skinny Fries and it was so good! My friend got the "Grown Up" grilled cheese with the Skinny Fries and he really liked it! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I'll start off with the pros: There is a nice ambience in the place. Bar seating and tables where you can seat yourself when you walk in. We came on Labor Day and there was no wait. The staff were also very friendly. Now for the Cons: My friend got a Coke and her glass was very unclean, had lipstick marks and food on the side of it even though she wasn't wearing lipstick and we had no food on the table. I asked for a refill and it was completely forgotten about. We waited on our sandwiches for 45+ minutes and they came out looking like something I could've made at home in under 5 minutes. I ordered the turkey sandwich and it was very very mediocre. Cold and basic. My friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it was also very sad. Both sandwiches came with additional things not in the menu, topped with hot peppers or with bacon inside. Overall if you're looking for somewhere quick and easy while not being too picky about food I would go here but I personally will not be coming back.

K H.

Yelp
The food was excellent. It's called a 'sports bar' but the food was an attempt to be more upscale. I ordered the steak chimichurri and asked for it medium well. I got three beef medallions, about 2-3 oz. each. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was great. I would recommend it to anyone. The place is kind of noisy because of the brick walls and hardwood floor, but that's to be expected.

Yelp
Lunch on a Monday was to my surprise very busy in downtown Gruene. I guess since the summer months are approaching this makes sense. This restaurant isn't very large, so keep in mind that probably on the weekends there may be a wait. I started off with a Spicy Bloody Mary. It wasn't spicy at all, but had good flavor and thick consistency. Definitely order some chips. They must make them in house. Very crispy and thick so they don't break when you are trying to dip into the pimento cheese spread. The Steak Chimichurri came with a house salad and onion rings. I subbed out the onion rings for garlic fries. I think it was maybe $1.50 more. The Garlic Fries are a must try. Large portions of fries and salad. The Steak it self was not bad, but I was hoping it to be a bit more tender and juicer. I ordered it medium rare and it wasn't a buttery cut with my knife as I had hoped, but it still had good flavor. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. I'll be back when in town to try out a few more items!

Brian M.

Yelp
Went to sit at the table near the bar. Bartender told us that we had to wait on a server for drinks and we waited over 20 minutes without a server coming to our table. Several employees looked over toward our table but ignored us completely. We ended up sitting at the bar and getting a draft which was hot and then we left Never coming here again and do not recommend.

Yelp
Another great meal at Mozies. Happy hour $1 off all drinks. Tried meatball sandwich it was good, but wouldn't be at the top of my list of Mozies offerings. Really , sign up on Gruene website to get the BOGO email that comes quarterly ( and you do have to show it on your phone) 2 sandwiches, 4 drinks (2 beers,2 mixed drinks) less than $40. Of course add the cost of the free meal and tip accordingly

Yelp
Experience was 10/10. My boyfriend and I went here on a date and our server was super nice and helpful when it came to questions about the menu! The only downside was our cocktails did take a while to come out after ordering them but our server assured us the order was in. The food was delicious. I would recommend the avocado ranch dressing! If you are looking for a cute date night, Mozies is a good place to start.

Yelp
When we come to Gruene, we come to Mozie's. In the heart of downtown -- Gruene Hall is catty corner. The service is spot on with good food and atmosphere. If you are looking for quiet, this will likely not be the place on the weekend. We've talked to many locals that recommend and go to Mozie's as well as the location makes it a draw. Prices are very reasonably priced and plentiful. The double dip appetizer jalapeño pimento cheese is off the charts good. They also have things like Shiner Back onion rings (great!) , wings, fish tacos, steak, sliders, sandwiches, & salads --with an amazing cob salad. Give them a try, I think you'll be glad you did.
google avatar

Trish A.

Yelp
This was my first visit to New Braunfels and my friends took me to Mozie's. It is a quaint place that serves the bar crowd and those looking for some tasty food. Their decor is rustic and the overall look is cute. I shared the chips and salsa, as well as the meatballs. The salad someone had look delish and I will have to order that next visit. We had a party of eight this night and a baby in a stroller. The only reason I'm downgrading to four stars was the attitude from one of their servers who complained when we pushed three tables together to accommodate our large party. They were not busy at this time. Our actual server was awesome and very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend mozing on down to Mozie's when you are in town.

Yelp
It has been a YEAR of an incredibly slow kitchen. I'm not sure if they're lacking kitchen staff or what, but it doesn't matter if it's packed or empty, expect to be here at least 45mins before you get food. It's wild to me since they used to be so efficient. I feel like their food has also gone downhill- their side salads no longer have toppings, and are served on a small plate instead of a bowl and of course prices have all gone way up. If the food and service matched the prices, maybe they'd stand a chance.

John R.

Yelp
Started out promising. Server asked me how I'd like the steak cooked. I requested medium rare , showed up borderline well done Server took it away and returned with a steak that was barely cooked and I have the pictures to prove it. At that point I asked for a to go bag. Moral of story... my dog had a nice steak at home.

Gwynn G.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are amazingly and delicious. So big we take them home for dinner. Recommend the corned beef.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
This is a super busy place but the food and ambiance is great. So I suggest going, putting your name on the list and then going shopping if it's a hour wait. Chimichurri steak medallions are worth the wait.... Very good.
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Stopped in while making an impromptu visit to Gruene and wanted something small, but not a full entree. Waitress suggested the meatball app & a small side house salad. This was actually perfect, and hit the spot. The meatballs actually came with a side of garlic bread, which I didn't finish. But it did taste good. Everything was tasty, and service was helpful and friendly. I would come back here the next time I'm in town for a proper meal.
google avatar

Yelp
The wife and I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and looked around for something interesting. We saw Mozie's describing "New American Cuisine", so we thought why not. So, basically a loud sports bar with greasy bar food, watered down ice tea, and really not too much positive to say. Its a slim long local where the acoustics of the place make it loud. Loud enough to where even when no one is talking you cannot understand the lyrics of the songs other than the melody. The Menu promotes Shiner Bock onion rings, umm,...try "onion strings" ...heavy on strings as they pretty much bread. I order the Chimichurri Medallions well done. Ummm,..see for urself, plus Chimichurri sauce was sub par, no tang and meat had no flavor. The garlic toast was hard and crunchy, and the fries were "chewy" and cold, with a side of oil. Overall NOT worth the $30+ / plate price. Will not be making a return visit.
google avatar

Rachel Z.

Yelp
What a little gem of a restaurant! It's got a super fun vibe that is perfect for the quaint little town of Gruene. The food and ambiance were both amazing! But what stood out most was our boss of a server, Chyeanne! Holy smokes was the girl on it! Flawless and friendly service always compels me to write a review. You won't regret a stop in this little spot!
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
I enjoy stopping off here on my way home and having a cocktail while I wait for traffic to die down. I never meet a stranger here, food is fantastic, service is amazing and I'm taken back in time in this old town bar with hard wood floors, old style bar stools. Drinks are great and prices are completely reasonable.

Cyn H.

Yelp
Be cautious if you visit this place. I was there over the weekend and saw an employee come out of a bathroom stall, skip washing their hands, and immediately return to work. I brought this up with another employee, who was behind me in line for the restroom. When I asked if they worked there, they confirmed they did. I shared my concerns about the lack of handwashing, but their response was dismissive, stating there are sinks in the back. I also reported this to the manager, who displayed a similarly careless attitude. She said she would bring it up with her employees but didn't even ask who the individual was so she could address it immediately. This lack of concern about basic hygiene is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Less than the full 5 stars because I found it claustrophobic. The bar/restaurant space is long and narrow. It was so busy that people couldn't help but bump into each other. The food was great - I thoroughly enjoyed my grown-up grilled cheese and the fries were reminiscent of the ones I always devoured at the 6740 in Whittier, CA. My lavender lemonade was perfect. I will try to go back during a less busy time.
google avatar

Ruben A.

Yelp
SLOOOOOOOOOOOW! Don't expect fast service. If you have the time. Yes. It's more than an hour wait for anything. If you don't... well... don't.
google avatar

Sabine F.

Yelp
We stopped here for appetizers and a drink. The onion rings and guacamole was very delicious.

David S.

Yelp
Hire a new cook immediately. Every single one of our dishes was completely burnt. I've never seen Sliders burnt this badly. They were beyond well done. Completely charred on top and bottom. Not tasty, not juicy, just dry as a bone and horrible. Service was slow but tolerable considering how busy it was. I looked around at other tables, and if they had any dishes with bread, it was burnt as well. Turn down the grill or learn how to cook. After spending close to $200, we all left hungry.
google avatar

Ray T.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. We had the char burger w onion rings and it was all fantastic and there was alot of food. Our friends had the reuben and fries and really enjoyed them. It was all very fresh, hot and delicious. The service was first rate and the place was full and they also have a long list of cocktails if int.

Monica D.

Yelp
Friendly wait staff and a trendy vib. Very narrow space however not so much as to feel cramped more like cozy. We felt very welcomed to include my husband's service dog. The food was well presented and very tasty. We will visit again in the future.
google avatar

B C.

Yelp
Never again, went in today for dinner with some friends. I ordered the fish tacos, big mistake. They had no flavor I just ate 1 and threw the rest away. After the 3 rd bite I had to throw up! My stomach is feeling very uneasy I'm burping something that they put in them, just something that's not a hit at this spot! Also my husband got the meatball sub and he was not happy he said it was nasty. Looked like alpo meat . Place is very small and narrow and kinda hard to get by and not the cleanest place., it's not inviting. Won't return again ever. Can't believe how businesses like this get away with their food and how dirty the place is. Considering this is a tourist spot, ugh disappointing to say the least. Waitress was nice didn't get her name but that's about it.
google avatar

Sue P.

Yelp
The food here is always great. The sliders - awesome. And the chicken salad - super yummy. The garlic fries... kinda like on the garlic. I've never had a bad meal here and the service great.
google avatar

Katlyn C.

Yelp
My husband and I went into Mozies with high expectations, because our friends love it. The gal that greeted us at the door was super kind! Our waitress was definitely ready to go home already (we ate lunch @11:30, so I'm guessing she had a real long shift after we left) I ordered the Reuben and my husband got the Parmesan crusted chicken. Based off looks, our food looked great! However, that was about it. My meat was tough, and I did not enjoy it. BUT the fries were soo yummy. I would go back to get the fries again. My husband was super disappointed because there was ZERO sauce on his dish, and the menu said there was a Cajun sauce. However, the toast that came with his meal was delicious. Overall, we would not order the same food again, but I would go back to try a burger (since that's what my friends raved about to begin with).
google avatar

Eduardo R.

Yelp
Surprisingly good Awesome little bar with excellent drinks and nice food options Really liked the fries It gets crowded so for me that is a negative and it's kinda tight as far as the eating areas people walking by and ordering at the bar bumping in to your table and stuff, but I guess the main thing it's a bar and it does perform well at that definitely coming back when thirsty and need a snack

Ashley D.

Yelp
The food was okay but not super flavorful. Our waitress Cheyenne was so rude. I went to order and she had the worst attitude I have ever experienced before. I also overheard being very very rude to other customers as well. I gave her a tip that I felt was more than generous as did my friend and as I got up from the table she picked up the receipts and I saw her throwing a fit. I get that working with customers is tough as I work with them everyday but you would get better tip results if you aren't RUDE, because customers understand you make your living off of them but we also don't deserve to be treated that way when we went into a restaurant to enjoy a meal.
google avatar

Kristi E.

Yelp
Beat the crowd at 11:30 on a Saturday. Great service at the bar. The panini was great. Just the right amount of pesto. It can be split though with how large it is. My husband had the sliders. He said they tasted like he grilled them at home in a good way. We will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
Great food choices, plentiful servings and the garlic bread is a must. Cute place, a bit loud, but great wait staff with smiles!
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
Came in yesterday for their delicious wings and was told they will no longer be on the menu due to cost of the chicken wings. I would. Have paid double for them so was very disappointed. All their food is good but I'm am disheartened by the news they will no longer sell them.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Located across from the historic Gruene Hall, Mozie's is a comfortable bar and restaurant in a rustic brick-walled setting. The menu is a bit sparse and the food was tasty but not exceptional. Service was super friendly and dang the air conditioning runs great for those hot days when you need a place to cool off and have some grub and drinks. It's worth a visit here.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here to grab a quick dinner before going to a movie. Our server, Anna was so kind. All the other bartenders/servers were also sweet. Food was really good and very reasonably priced for this area. Would definitely recommend! It has a bit of an awkward arrangement between the bar and some high tables, but it wasn't bad. Would definitely recommend!

Lynn S.

Yelp
We stopped for a beer and soda on our way to check out Greune Hall but couldn't resist the strawberry cake. It was a good decision. We each had a decent sized portion and brought enough back to our room for dessert tonight and tomorrow. Our server was Anna and she was very pleasant and efficient. If we are in the area again we will be back.
