The hungry detective has been going to Mpishi for years and let me tell you they just started doing smoked barbecue on Fridays and it’s next level off the chain right on Daniel Island every Friday night and with prices that won’t break the bank…check it out…you will not be disappointed!!! NOTE: MPISHI breakfast is awesome experience as well with made from scratch cinnamon rolls and other home made treats!!! VERDICT: MPISHI is guilty as sin for doing everything right…it’s all good!!!

Always a good meal! We used to live on DI when Mpishi first opened but have since moved away. Today was our first time eating here again since before covid, and it did not disappoint! My husband loved his Greek scramble. The flavors really popped, and he said that the bacon was perfectly cooked! I got the “Day after Thanksgiving Day” sandwich, which was good but not great like before. If you get it, ask for no cheese and see if they can serve it on a less dense bread. The flavors of the bread and cheese really overwhelmed the Thanksgiving flavors. The gravy was also too runny for my taste and not very flavorful. The real star of the meal was the chocolate baby babka - WOW! It was the perfect combination of sweet, buttery, and flaky. The wait staff was amazing, and the restaurant is super clean. Thank you for a good meal experience!

Google
I had a salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was super-dry as if it had been sitting for a very long time in a cooker. The remainder of dish was adequate. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, but swemed a bit overwhelmed by customers and had to move through a restaurant congested with tables and chairs. The atmosphere is quaint and would be nice at a less-busy day or time.

I had the pleasure of eating at Mpishi on Daniel Island. The smoked BBQ is delicious, I had the brisket…yum! The service was excellent. Jenn was attentive and very friendly. Lauren, the bartender, made great drinks and was quick to serve. I really enjoyed my experience at Mpishi and will definitely be going back!

Google
Our go to preconcert spot. Not only does the foot come out super fast, their concert menu feels like a Mediterranean BBQ. With some of the best smoked chicken we’ve ever had. Our waitress Jenn was on top of it. Even through the crazy concert crowd, she continued to check on us even after we paid.

Our staff had lunch today. We ordered the Thanksgiving Sandwich and Asian Tuna salads. The food was amazing! Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Mom and I enjoyed a weekday brunch here, and it was amazing. The service is on point, and the food is delicious. We will definitely be back.

Google
Lovely restaurant with beautiful decor! The bathrooms are clean and the restaurant has a airy feel to it. They have three large tables for outdoor seating as well as a bar. We arrived around 10am for breakfast and waited for about 5 minutes before we were seated. Our waitress was very kind and friendly and the service was fine, she checked up on us once after we got our food which might seem too little to others but we didn’t mind. We ordered two stacks of adult pancakes (3 each), french toast (consisted of 2 slices), and the breakfast potato (i don’t remember the name honestly but it had 2 eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, etc). Everything was DELICIOUS, the pancakes were cooked perfectly, with the edges a bit crispy. The french toast was delicious and the sausages were HEAVENLY. We also had an English muffin as a side and it was great—we ordered a lot of sweet stuff and the English muffin, being salty, was a great combo. My only issue was the wait. It wasn’t long but we were on a time crunch and couldn’t get seated with half the restaurant empty because of reservations. I understand that realistically there isn’t much of a solution to this though. My advice would be to just reserve a table ahead of time if it’s a busy morning. Overall our experience here was great and we’ll definitely be back next year! This area of daniel island has limited dining (especially breakfast) options and this is one of those hidden gems.

Yelp
I highly recommend Mpishi. I love the Asian Tuna Salad. The salad is so fresh and generously proportioned. This is a such a treasure of a little restaurant. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious

Yelp
It pains me to write this review because I wish I didn't have to. I tried to give it several opportunities but this place has not gone down hill, it's gone in the ditch, upside down with flames coming out the windows. We used to really enjoy coming for breakfast every weekend, food was good and so was the service, it's the complete opposite now. No service and not even that your order is wrong, which it is, it's gross on top of that, greasy eggs, toast soaked in butter just unappetizing. A real shame but do not go.

Yelp
Stoped in for brunch last week and had a great meal. We started with some much needed lattes that came in a nice mug which you do t always see anymore. I'd much rather drink my coffee from a mug than paper. I was debating half the menu because everything sounded good but I wanted breakfast food and went for an omelet. You can build your own with three items and I did ham, onion, and cheddar cheese which is my go to for an omelet. It came with a side of toast and I added a side of bacon. The service was exceptional and it was an easy in and out for brunch.

Yelp
Thai place was super cute and everyone was very friendly. The chai latte with almond milk was delicious! Could've drank several glasses of it! I got the avocado toast which came with 3 pieces of toast with avocado, boiled egg slices and lots of arugula. If you aren't a fan of arugula then this isn't for you! My only complaint was I wish there was a little bit of lemon to it. I choose potato's as my side and those were delicious. Overall it was a lot more food than I thought it would be. I didn't finish it. My hubs got the 2 egg meal and he said to at was delicious too. It came with buttered rye bread which we both agree was amazing!

Yelp
We tried this place during the 2024 holiday season and they took great care of our large party for a late lunch. Food was delicious.

Yelp
My boyfriend got the Breakfast Quesadilla and I got the Huevos Rancheros. I took a bite out of my boyfriend's, and I liked his better. I wish that the Huevos had picos de gallo added to the dish because it was very heavy with the beans and potatoes. Overall, 7.5 out of 10.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about Andy and Allie at Mpishi! What kind-hearted people they are. And so incredibly easy to work with! I worked with them on a catering order for around 15-20 people. Andy graciously spoke with me on the phone a couple of times about my catering options and the menu. I also coordinated with Allie on the catering proposal, and they were both always pleasant to work with and extremely quick to reply. The food was absolutely delicious, and our event was a big hit! Thanks a million, Andy and Allie!

Yelp
Came here for a Saturday lunch with some friends and really enjoyed the whole experience: the staff were very friendly, outdoor seating was nice, and the food was fantastic. I got the breakfast quesadillas with a side of grits, both of which were excellent. My friend got the tuna salad which looked hearty and delicious too - will try that next time.

Yelp
Like most else on Daniel Island, Mpishi is quite charming. I came here on a Friday morning with my fiancee, my dad, and my sister. We were struck by the cute interior and the welcoming staff. To eat, my fiancee had the breakfast quesadilla. I had the two egg breakfast (scrambled, please). My dad and sister had the Day After Thanksgiving sandwich. Sourdough slices packed full of turkey, stuffing, and cranberries and accompanied with gravy, the thing looked absolutely delicious. My sister liked it so much she refused to share. Of the four of us, can you guess which two were the winners? The menu is seasonal, so while you may miss out on the chance for this Thanksgiving sandwich, that also means there's always something new on the menu to enjoy. Check out Mpishi for a casual breakfast, a weekend brunch, or a quick lunchtime bite to eat.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast today. Coffee could have been hotter. We tried to order the Greek scramble which was listed on their website but not the menu that we were given. They said due to staff shortages, certain items had been taken off the menu until next week. I had the breakfast quesadilla. It was excellent, a ton of flavor and very filling. They did not skimp on the ingredients. It also came with a side of sour cream and pico de Gallo, which is always nice. My husband created his own omelette and had sour dough toast with it of which he enjoyed. Service was ok. Everytime I've been here, service is mediocre, management should work on that, it's an easy fix that could make a big difference to a lot of people.

Yelp
Found this place kinda on accident: new to area and was looking for something for lunch... this place hardly shows up on searches and I don't know why!!! AMAZING! The food is absolutely delicious! Prices may seem a tad high for lunch for some, but I promise: you get what you pay for...! Bartender was telling me about their blond bloody mix, which I tried - is a local Charleston creation - and so yummy!!! The bloody was delish and the salt on the rim flavorful.... And to appeal to my girly side, a little edible gold glitter ! The salad portion was HUGE! Got the small, expecting half that size, so I would be afraid to see how large the large is! The dressing was perfect with goat cheese and beets... but other than that, a pretty standard goat cheese salad. Then ordered the chicken, avocado, pimento sando with their Mac salad.... Was torn on what to order as many of their items sounded delish and fun (leftover Turkey dinner sando?!) but I am so glad I chose this! Well balanced flavor and the chicken is well seasoned and moist... definitely do not skimp on fillings...! Also, I ordered the macaroni salad thinking it was probably be over dressed and bland and quite the opposite!!! Fresh and light! This place is amazing and I will be back for sure!!! My only complaint: they are only open 8-2!!! Lol! Other than that, solid 9.5/10

Yelp
Sadly the only restaurant to serve full breakfast on Daniel Island. Very expensive and the quality was below average. $3 for 3 slices of tomatoes, they were not close to being ripe, $3 for a few pieces of avocado and $9 for 3 scrambled eggs! We ordered at 8am and food came out at 840, it was almost empty in the restaurant. Over $50 with tip for 2 people, very pricey. Also had them put my Diet Coke in a to go cup. The cup was paper, one hour later it was soggy and I had to throw it away. Please use plastic or styrofoam cups!!!! Won't be back unless it's the only option for another business meeting.

Yelp
For a truly beautiful, hand made, artisanal breakfast this is a find. Not inexpensive but for the quality you get- a decent value. Best gluten-free bread(made in house) crests a cravable breakfast sandwich that will likely carry you until dinner. 2 sausage patties, bacon, cheese, and egg atop that hearty bread that has been grilled until golden. Comes with home fries. Real grits are served here- they are a split at a steep $5 for a side. But still I have a hard time resisting. Plus for you gluten eating individuals- they have a fantastic pastry selection made in house as well. Cute casual interior. Support local and give them a try.

Yelp
We had dinner there last night and the food was AMAZING! The food was fresh and light and the chef did a wonderful job catering to the many different diet restrictions in our group. Atmosphere was wonderful and great service too!SO excited to have a dinner option for healthy food on DI! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm a big supporter of small businesses but the food was extremely average and way overpriced
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely a good spot to enjoy good brunch food and mimosas. It's also a great spot for families with kids if you're in the mood for breakfast and coffee. Great service, genuinely nice people, and tended to immediately and frequent

Daphne H.

Yelp
The food was okay, not great. The service was marginal. Most of the time I was constantly looking for my server for assistance. I also noticed the servers who were available were mostly talking to each other instead of checking on customers. They seemed bored. But, despite those disappointments, the restaurant itself was nice and comfortable. To match the ambiance this restaurant offers, there needs to be a new (or additional) chef and servers who understand the need to be more attentive to their customers.

Yelp
Below is an edited email I sent to Mpishi owners re: disastrous lunch: Dear Andy & Allie: Rather than write a Yelp review I thought I'd contact you personally.[Note: I reversed my initial decision after owner failed to respond to my second email.] Saturday Oct. 19th around 1 p.m. a friend and I dined at your restaurant. Todd was our server; Christy manager. Order #2008:1. I ordered "Mediteranean Seared Tuna Salad with Arugula, and Pine Nuts, Served with green basil dressing. Small $7.50." She ordered "Breakfast Quesadilla with Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Potatoes, Black Beans, Peppers, and Cheddar Cheese, served with salsa and sour cream $11.50." My salad was flavorless. Limp greens. Only a few pine nuts. Watery dressing tasteless. One inch-square hunk of tough tuna with fat still attached and not "seared " Friend was dismayed after pulling apart the quesadillas and finding no eggs. Barely any black beans. I should have taken photos. We are both experienced and refined diners. She wanted to try your restaurant. Had I wanted a great tuna salad I would have gone to Laura Alberts where a half-order of exquisite Sesame Crusted Tuna Salad (three large slices of tuna) is 50 cents more and divinely delicious.[Note: I attached a photo of Laura Alberts Sesame Crusted Tuna Salad.] Todd asked. I answered. Salad was the worst I've ever had. Why? I did not wish to go into it. I did ask him to comp our order. I've only done that one other time in decades. No dice. Christy came over and asked how me how my food was. I charitably said, "Mediocre." $8.25 total bill for a salad that was nearly inedible. I ate it anyway. If I had been Todd and Christy, I would have offered to comp the two orders. Kind regards, Marty Davis Daniel Island The reply: Good morning Marty, I appreciate you letting me know about your experience, and am sorry to hear that it was a negative one. We are always open to constructive criticism as it allows us to continue to improve the restaurant. We will take this review seriously, and hope you are inclined to to give Mpishi another try in the future.  Thanks again for you candor, Allie Clay My reply: Thanks for your response, Allison. My email was intended to alert you to a serious issue affecting your reputation. Perhaps you might consider a gratis dining experience for my friend and me. Then I will reconsider returning.  Kind regards, Marty Davis No response. You be the judge. Order Mpishi's Mediterranean salad. Compare it with Laura Alberts for 50 cents more. (See LA screenshot.) If I were Mpishi owners I would have comped the bill on the spot. I was in the restaurant business years ago. I gave Allie another opportunity to give me a reason to return by asking her to offer us a "gratis dining experience. Customer service and community goodwill are critical in growing a successful business. I asked for an incentive to give Mpishi another shot. I didn't get it.

Yelp
This place has phenomenal food! I got the burger and fries. The burger was cooked to perfection and the fries are crispy and addictive. The staff was ultra friendly and the service was great! Go! You'll enjoy the atmosphere and the food!!

Yelp
The one thing this place has going for it is that it's open for lunch on Sunday, which is not the case for many places on Daniel Island. However, there wasn't much in the way of a lunch menu - mostly just brunch items. They had 2 specials though which were sandwiches. I had the "TCLT" (tandoori chicken lettuce and tomato sandwich) which came with potato salad, cole slaw, and rice salad. The sandwich had great toasted bread but was otherwise very bland except for the sriracha that I added. None of the sides were very good either. I would have been much happier with a side of nice chips and a pickle spear instead of 3 below-average salads. The breakfast food that I saw other people ordering looked pretty good, so maybe that's the way to go here. If you're looking for lunch food, you'll be much better off with a Publix sub.

Kristie F.

Yelp
There is a very nice realtor, who supports local businesses by sending links to people with a gift card for something at their establishment. I have never been to Mpishi and was looking forward to trying the breakfast sandwich that was the gift sent by this realtor and specifically states,"Valid through close of business on: 09/01/2024" along with all the other promotional info about Mpishi which is great advertising for this restaurant for sure. I sent my husband in this morning to use the gift promotion as well as buy another sandwich and he was very curtly told that they would not honor the certificate and that yesterday was the last day. My husband politely brought up the text with the promotion clearly marked with the expiration as above and was still told too bad. Obviously, this business is not about customer satisfaction or return business. Of course my husband would have tipped on both sandwiches, very generously, I might add, that most likely would have paid for the cost of the comped sandwich. Instead, the attitude of the establishment he faced will keep us from ever trying Mpishi and to be sure telling others of our experience there.

Yelp
Ahi tuna salad was amazing! Great service and friendly staff. I was pleased to find some healthy food so close to where we were staying.

Yelp
First time. Not last time. I enjoyed meeting an old friend for breakfast. I wish they had biscuits & gravy. Then maybe I would have given them a 4. Not cheap. Friend paid. I owe him one. I'll come back for that.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars would like to do 4 1/2 but not possible. Anyway the food here is really good. Went for Sunday brunch and our choices did not disappoint. I had the meatloaf sandwich ( side note I have never had meatloaf in a restaurant because my wife makes the best meatloaf) but I figured what the heck and it was really good. My daughter had omelette special and couldn't stop raving about it. My wife went with what were the best looking poached eggs ever. Potatoes great plus great service.
google avatar

Clay J.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for dinner. The place has a rotating menu every night, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to check the menu before you go, just go -- part of the great part of this place is that there's little need to stare at the menu. If you're going on a date, you don't have to sit there and awkwardly sweat what you're going to order. You can just be with your dinner companion. Brunch options are great here, too. And the place is doing right by its customers with COVID. People are wearing masks, keeping them on, and you can tell they're keeping things clean and keeping their customers safe.
google avatar

Alicia N.

Yelp
Great for breakfast or lunch! I enjoyed a chicken and quinoa salad that was delicious!

Susan L.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch. Had there large size beets and goat cheese salad. It is refreshing with walnuts and a hard boiled egg. Had enough for another meal

Yelp
Just go. Just do it. We went with friends on Argentinian night and it was the best meal I've ever had. My husband has traveled the world and said it was equal to the best meal he has ever had. Andy is so personable. We asked to compliment the chef and he not only came out to greet us but sat down and had drinks with us. I'm begging for another Argentinian night. Our friends went on British night, loved it, and vowed to bring friends the next time. Lucky us! And we have vowed to never go without inviting others. If they can't make it, we are still going. We had a chicken parmesan to go meal when they were doing take out only. It was great too. I only wish there had been more sauce for the pasta. ARGENTINIAN NIGHT PRETTY PLEASE

Brennan S.

Yelp
At first I was excited to try this place out. When walking in with an almost finished Starbucks drink, the manager came over and advised that I would have to pay $1.25 in order to keep my drink or throw it away! She said that due to offering "specialty coffees" they are not allowed to have other outside beverages. I let her throw away my drink and did not pay this outrageous fine for simply having 4 sips left of an outside drink! Besides this outrageous rule, which was not noted anywhere on the menu, the fee the food was subpar to say the least but our server was actually nice. So I recommend she get's promoted to manager and maybe this place will start to care of their customers rather than their "specialty coffees".

A S.

Yelp
Second time eating here and second time our food was brought out late. 6 tables sat after we sat and 6 tables got their meals before us. A year ago it happened to our table and wanted to give them a second chance...will not try for a 3rd!
google avatar

Cathy C.

Yelp
Second visit, still good food and good/ friendly service. This time we ordered the 2 egg breakfast which was tasty and cooked to order. Unfortunately, the cinnamon roll, ordered on the side, was just ok and the grits were ho hum. Still think it's a good, local place for breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Leah G.

Yelp
So delicious! We ordered delivery to our office on Saturday. The food came warm, coffee still hot. My breakfast sandwich was awesome, goat cheese and beet salad had lots of goodies on it. Coffee was great too! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Finally got to go to Mpishi on daniel island today. Got to the Resturant when they opened and did not realize since Mother's Day was reservations only and they are booked. Luck has it we where able to sit at the bar which when only my wife and I is our go too. Beautifully Remoldel from the past establishment. After reading about the new owners / chef I was excited to try. Let me tell you that they have only been open a week and everything ran perfect. Atmosphere was wonderful, service was perfect with many on hand to help. We both had the the French toast special which was 2 pieces of French toast with a layer of chocolate cake with butter cream sauce layered within. OMG was absolutely Heaven. Today's menu was a brunch special menu. I can't wait to try their gravy biscuits on a regular day. The highlight for me and a very smart move on the owners part is the chef making deserts / pastries in open view of the Resturant inside and walkers outside. Good to see business owners that know how to market them selfs with exceptional food and superior service. Only a very few on the island rise to this level. Good job Mpishi !

Yelp
We visited Mpishi Saturday night for Dim Sum Night. I heard about Mpishi through a friend who went to their Indonesian night and then saw an ad on Facebook for Dim Sum night. My husband is a big Chinese food fan, so I figured we would try it out. The location is the former Honeycomb Cafe. Let's just say I wasn't sad seeing the Honeycomb Cafe go out of business. My last experience there was horrendous (but this isn't a Yelp review for Honeycomb Cafe so I digress). It's not a large space. I highly recommend for these themed dinners, to check out the website that week then book on Resy so you don't have to wait. We were seated right away. They were a bit understaffed. They admittedly said so. I'm finding that to be a common theme and problem for many Charleston restaurants not downtown. The alcohol prices were pretty fair. I paid $7 for a half carafe (about two smaller glasses) of Pinot Grigio. You pay per person for food. It was $28/person. The food came out pretty much all at once. There was about eight things on the menu to try. The sticky buns with pork were the best. I don't really know what the rest of the things were, but there were a variety of dumplings and some rice with tofu (I think). The meal is served family style. There was enough for everyone to try and sample, although at $28/person, the serving size didn't blow me away. I was expecting a little bit more or the meal to be coursed out just a hair. (May be like a soup or something for each individual person), family style entree, individual dessert. I wish there was dessert. Learning that the owner is a highly-skilled pastry chef, a nice dessert would have been amazing. I would have paid a bit more for that. One person in our party had some food allergies and her husband called ahead, so they made a few dishes specifically for her. Overall a good experience. We spoke with the owners and they were really, really nice. I hope this place survives the brutal Charleston restaurant scene. I would be interested in going back for some of their other themed nights in the future.

Yelp
Fabulous food, need training for servers. I can't say enough about the quality of the food. (OK, I'll admit I wish their breakfast quesadilla had an option without bell peppers, but that's a minor complaint.) The tomato pie was the best I've ever tasted and the "After Thanksgiving" sandwich was a turkey junkie's dream! Downside - both times we ate there, we sat outside so we could bring our dog. Not sure what service is like inside, but hope it's much better. I understand being busy, but folks, you KNOW ahead of time that Father's Day is busy - bring in additional help! If you can't take care of the outdoor guests, don't offer seating. Our food was delivered by a different person than took our order. No one ever came back to see if the order was correct or if we had everything. The basic breakfast was supposed to come with potatoes, which were not on the plate. The scrambled eggs were so runny, the whites were transparent. One of us had to walk back into the dining room to ask about our server. By the times the eggs were brought back, everyone else had finished eating. Then the check. The other party seated outside was a family with kids. Dad and kids left to go shopping and Mom was left waiting for the check for 20 mins. We finally had to return to the dining room to pay for our meals. This is a new place and I completely relate to the curve of bringing staff up to speed and figuring out how to serve guests in a timely manner. I desperately want this place to succeed, as the food is wonderful (once you get it) and there aren't that many good places to eat on DI. Here's hoping they get things right soon. Will return after a few weeks with more stars if they do!

Yelp
Just go. We decided today that this is our new go to brunch spot. Stellar service and breakfast and lunch ALL day....and a full bar!!!! The service was impeccable! Our waitress Chrysanthia was knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant! I am southern, and these are the best biscuits and gravy in town! Vicious Biscuit has great biscuits but their gravy is not good. This place has great gravy. I will order extra next time because they do put it on light - and again... I'm southern. My toddler devooured his Nutella French toast! My husband inhaled his two egg breakfast and stole one of my biscuits. My eggs were PERFECT! The waitress picked my red wine and I cannot remember the name but it was the best red wine I've had this month!!! My mocha latte was legit PERFECT! The espresso was quality and the ratios were balanced! My beet salad, yeah I eat a salad every place I go because I'm a fitness girl, and it was so fresh!!!! I will be back! Probably this month. This place is so good I ALMOST didn't want to share.... But I like good Karma ;)

Yelp
Wanted to check out the new place on Daniel Island, so I stopped in with a friend for breakfast. So, it's difficult not to compare it with the previous place that was there, but I'll do my best. I was nicely surprised when I walked in - bright, open, and cheerful - I immediately felt good!! I was greeted straight away and seated, as I waited for my breakfast partner to arrive. Coffee and water came right away, and refills arrived throughout the breakfast right on time. My friend showed up and we were ready to order. Our waitress (Arghh - cant recall her name!) answered all our questions, and we ordered. I had the "2 egg breakfast" with sausage and wheat toast. All good. The eggs were especially good, like fried in butter. The serving size was good, but not overflowing the plate. Over 4 star- I'll be back in!

Yelp
Great brunch spot! Tasty! Unique. We've been here a couple times. It definitely outshines the last place that was here. Very unique style on a lot of their meals keeps it interesting. They also do a lot of takeout meals that we plan on trying out soon. Pancakes were great. Got some hash that was great. Kids loved it!

Yelp
I'm so happy there is a new breakfast/lunch restaurant on DI! I arrived at 11am and missed the breakfast menu, not sure what time it ended. I ordered the Braised Pork Sandwich (excluding the onions) on gluten-free bread. It was full of flavor, juicy, and served as ordered. The GF bread was toasted and a slice of provolone (I think) on each piece which added to the flavor. Fries were hot and not oily at all, perfectly salted. Our server Jake was still learning the menu, but was happy to ask the chef our questions. He was very courteous and attentive. My friends had the chicken salad sandwich and a huge garden salad. Both of them enjoyed their dishes very much! I can't wait to go back to try their breakfast!

Yelp
I just moved to the Island and was looking for a regular go to for breakfast. I will keep looking as I've now tried this place twice and was more disappointed each time I went. One of the waitresses is loud, rude, and unfriendly. First time I ordered eggs, bacon, and toast. Ordered the egg over medium and it came almost well done. All for a mere $20 including tip.The bacon was cold and hard. My second visit I tried the Avocado Toast. That's what I got. Avocado and a pice of toast. It actually came with a "very hard boiled egg" on top. The avocado looked like someone was in a hurry and tried to spread it with a knife but seriously failed. I asked for a fried egg medium and I the waitress looked at me like I had two heads and walked away. She came back with an almost well done egg and sat it down without saying a word. I actually apologized that I didn't know it came with a dry hard boiled egg and she snidely remarked "yeah it's ok." Another $20 with tip poor experience. I will never go back and suggest you stay away.

Yelp
I've been following Mpishi's page for several months and love the different evening menus. I grew up in England so when I saw the British menu, I had to go. What a delightful experience! The staff were attentive and polite, the space adorable and a nice refit of the previous establishment. I also adore the name - for those confused by the provenance, there is a great backstory on their page. The food was flavorful and plentiful! A great variety that really brought me back to my says in England. My favorite was the Yorkshire puddings which while may appear a basic concept, are a royal pain to execute. I've created many a Yorkshire plop in my time and really should have asked to buy some to freeze and keep for Christmas Day! Wear your stretchy pants - you will NOT leave hungry. Wine list is extensive and very, very reasonably priced. We can't wait to go back! It's Indian night tonight.. two for two?

Yelp
Amazing server (KENZIE) but horrible manager! This is the first time we've ever been here and we were so excited to enjoy an outside table on this beautiful Saturday morning. We each ordered an alcoholic beverage and a "mimosa flight for 2" which it said on the menu! After being served our drinks, the female manager came outside and reprimanded our server right in front of the table. It caught us off guard as we weren't sure was was happening. She then proceeded to turn to us and reprimand us that it's there policy for one person to have a 2 drink minimum at a time. She went on a rant about how they could get shut down and they don't serve more than two drinks at a time so people like us don't come in to get "obliterated". We were in shock, as we are both professionals with years of experience in the industry. It was so rude of her to attack her server in front of the table and then attack us for not knowing their policy. It completely changed the vibe of our brunch. The professional way to go about something like this would be to pull the server to the side in the back and politely review the policy with them. Then train the server to tell their table they made a mistake and the policy at hand. Instead it was an entire scene with other tables present who heard the whole debacle. Still in shock.

Yelp
Best new restaurant under the ownership of a world class chef. Hosted a private dinner for 30 and had the best food I've had in years. Family style and the food kept flowing. Andy Clay prides himself on everyone being happy with his craft. Gotta give this place a try. Daniel Island is lucky to have him.

Yelp
My parents just moved to the Charleston area and love this restaurant. Though their Greek scrambles and huevos rancheros were/are to die for, my avocado toast was far from. I've never had such a meal lacking in flavor, especially for $16. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I'll recommend the restaurant itself and the staff was great and friendly but, the toast gets -10/10 from me. Please consider adding tomato, greens, onions, garlic, or really anything to give it at least a little bit of flavor. I also suggest making the egg over easy and not boiled.

Yelp
Mpishi...more like mpiSHIT. I don't know where to start. Spending much of my life in Toronto, I was beyond excited when apple maps said that MpiSHIT would be featuring some "Modern Canadian." It was Sunday Brunch and upon arriving, it took 5 seconds to realize there wasn't one thing remotely Canadian on the entire menu. They now changed it to Modern American, misleading to say the least. I decided to order the kielbasa hoagie with tomatoes and cheese as my mate was excited to try the "waffleS of the day" (Belgian waffles with a coffee cake crumble.)" Low and behold, it is time for our food, and disappointment was an understatement. My kielbasa hoagie looked like it was made by a young kid at summer camp doing an arts and craft project. My friend's "waffleS of the day" was ONE single waffle that looked like it was run over by a car and pressed with an iron topped with the most half assed coffee crumble I've ever seen. One single waffle with 2 puny slices of bacon for 12 whole dollars. My hoagie tasted like it was on clearance in the deli with an expiration of last year. Stale bread, canned tomatoes, and the cheese was so thick I was only missing nachos. I hate to give bad reviews, I eat out in Charleston all the time and love supporting the community. But a world with a single waffle for $12 is a world I don't want to live in. Go somewhere else, don't waste your money, and know MpiSHIT is the worst restaurant in the Charleston area I've been to in awhile.

Yelp
The name?! It threw me off too but apparently it means chef in an African dialect- but fear not-menu is American cuisine w a nice array of food, that also has breakfast all day--but only open 8-2pm (and then family style dinners) . Our party had the ahi tuna salad ( huge tuna steak), hash of the day, open faced sandwich, quesadillas, and pancakes for the 6 year old in the group- we all really enjoyed our food. Only area we saw for improvement was service- took a little while for waiter to get drink orders and then once food came, didn't follow back up w us, so took a little longer than would have wished but we will certainly be back to try again!
