"As you can probably guess from the name, Mr. Baguette is, in fact, a bakery that sells a variety of baked goods. But the real reason you should come to this Vietnamese mini-chain with four locations across SoCal is for their lengthy, crispy bánh mì. These sandwiches are about the size of a Subway footlong and have the perfect ratio of bread to meat nestled inside. Our favorite is the #5, which is filled with some of the juiciest grilled pork we’ve ever encountered. Order it with extra meat if you want to make sure there’s more sandwich left to revisit around dinnertime. " - nikko duren, arden shore, sylvio martins, brant cox

Place is a little run down. Like it’s past its prime - but it now has some charm in the sense that all the locals gents are here having a spirited conversation. The service was quick accents a side. The food quality is as good as ever. Really did t know what I wanted to for lunch today. Great that I drove by and decided to stop. Great baguette!

Google
I like the sandwiches but the price is now $8.50 for a sandwich????? what happened from below $4 to over $8.50 in a few years??? expensive for a french sandwich. And I asked extra halepino and the lady was rude and wanted to make me pay extra. The price has double, i know things are more expensive but how you justified double in just a few years?????? Also, why is the lady at the cashier RUDE???? At least be nice to customer

Google
5/5 service 3/5 for the food - this review is based solely on the rating of what I thought of the food. Went here with a coworker and it was okay! I am happy I gave it a try, but it was too salty and meaty for my liking. I am vegetarian and am happy they had several vegetarian options! I appreciate the inexpensive price. My coworker really likes this place though, and she got their special #1. Overall, if I was in the area again, I would still order again because of its price. I think if you're a meat-eater, though, you'd really enjoy this place. I say give this place a try to see what you think of it yourself!

Google
This place is great. We stopped here before our morning hike. It is open since 6am in the morning! We got the iced milk coffee and a baguette. It was a bit busy even though it was 6:30am, three people in line before of us. Most people do take-out. It’s not so popular to dine in. Coffee was super tasty and charged. The baguette was crunchy and soft. They have accessibility accommodations. But the straws and some of the cups are not recyclable. I recommend it!

Google
We had grilled pork and lemon grass beef Banh Mi sandwiches, chicken curry, and a huge croissant, and ice coffee. All of us in our family enjoyed the sandwiches. Baguettes are crunchy, fresh, and not hard.. Chicken curry was excellent..very spicy and full of flavor! We will try other sandwiches on a next visit. The ice coffee was good and strong, but there was too much ice. Overall, very good place for Banh Mi sandwiches!

Google
Got the grilled pork and lemongrass beef banh mi sandwiches. They were both so good!!! Both had meat that were marinated really well and perfectly constructed into the banh mi. The butter and mayonnaise with the meat (beef & pork) were delicious. I couldn't get enough of it. Even though I haven't eaten here for a couple of years, the taste is still the same and it did not disappoint at all! I was eating slowly to savor the taste and I wished I bought more when I finished. This quality and portion is worth the price. Will definitely be coming back! Mr. Baguette has reliable banh mi! It certainly is a house of quality. Totally recommemd!

Google
Mr Baguette is a French Vietnamese bakery that offer sandwiches and pastries. They have three branch locations (Monterey Park, El Monte and Rosemead). Interior atmosphere has a cool french vibe and its clean, organized and well lit. I asked a staff at the counter, Bonjour! Je voudrais commander le sandwich croissant à la dinde. Parlez vous francais? Staff gave a perfunctory & sheepish smile. Anyway, they have a good combination of tasty gourmet deli meats with flavor and authentic warm fresh baked bread. I ordered a Turkey croissant sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. Turkey breast was prodigious and placed in a warm, soft large sized sweet glazed croissant sandwich. (See photos). Tasty and delicious. Prices were reasonable and competitive. Staff were amiable and obsequious. Rear parking lot is available. Overall I had a good takeout order experience.

Yelp
Found the first bahmi spot after a long hike and I'm glad I went to this one I gotta say the bread was buttery AF when I first took a bite there was sort of a line there too but goes by fast they are just moving sammies like a bah ni machine got the regular combo special can't wait to go back and try others fast friendly and local thats how I like them!

Yelp
Not my first choice for banh mi sandwiches, but I like Mr. Baguette BETTER then LEE SANDWICHES down the street. I got a grilled pork banh mi for my hubby and he enjoyed it; I had a bite and wasn't impressed. Mine was the banh mi with Vietnamese cold cuts and basically the overall taste was bland, dry, very skimpy on the pate. Missing the mayo, Maggi seasoning, and SALT! They do have good baguettes here - 3 different kinds: regular, soft, sesame. This place isn't stellar, but it does take care of the banh mi craving - kind of. CASH/CREDIT accepted Parking available in private lot.

Yelp
:: Food / Drink :: The banh mi sandwiches are decent, I wish they would distribute the veggies (cilantro, jalapeños, pickled carrots and radish) evenly throughout the sandwich and that they would be more generous with the pate lol Their breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, I usually get the Ham & Egg and pay additional to add cheese. It was nice that they have the $10 deal for a breakfast sandwich and any drink, especially if you were planning on getting their yummy Vietnamese Coffee or Thai Tea anyways. Their tuna sandwich was also good, they are generous with the tuna! :: Service :: Nice customer service every time. :: Parking :: They have their own parking lot which is super convenient. There's also street parking in front and to the side of the establishment. :: Restroom :: No restroom.

Graciela C.

Yelp
They have a special combo for $10. Choose one of the 4 breakfast sandwiches and one drink (including the $6 iced coffee, fresh OJ...) fast service and fairly quick sandwich build. The egg was fried fresh upon order. Easy parking, fresh ambiance, open area. Next time will get the meatloaf and egg (which my gf says comes with pate) instead of just pate and egg. And the coffee is always a must, strong and not too sweet.

Monica H.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and order the exact same thing so I know when it's off. They've never made mistakes on my order except the last two times so I'm not sure what's going on. I paid the surcharge on my online order to add extra pate to my sandwich but they didn't add it on my last two visits. I decided to call to get a refund on the surcharge the second time it happened. The lady who picked up said she wrote "extra pate" on the bag and the sandwich with the extra pate had it spread on both sides of the bread. I said none of my bags had the note on it and then she hung up. I called back twice and they didn't pick up. I checked both of my sandwiches and none had the pate spread on both sides as she claimed. I can tell the ladies there work hard but they really should handle customer issues better, especially for something this minor.

Selene S.

Yelp
Came by during lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. Service was fast with little wait time. There are a few tables inside to eat at. We got the: #5 Grilled pork sandwich ($8.79) and #9 Lemongrass beef sandwich ($9.99). They both tasted great, as delicious as usual! Good portion at a reasonable price. You get full from one sandwich.

Stephanie H.

Yelp
It's fast! They're friendly! The food is high quality! The space is clean and well lit. Most folks can call in their orders and pick up very quickly, but there are often Paris-style round tables and chairs for you to enjoy each tasty morsel. When I need a savory, buttery, crispy, and fulfilling quick bite, I always either get the special (number 1: dac biet) sandwich or the pate chaud. What's a pate chaud? It's flaky puff pastry that encases a delicious large peppery chicken meatball that's seasoned to perfection. They will heat it up for you if you plan to immediately devour the baked delight, which I guarantee you won't be able to resist. I encourage all who go to try everything at least once! 'They're just sandwiches' ... but they're NOT 'just sandwiches'. The Vietnamese Banh mi is leveled up with crispy toasted baguettes that enclose savory, sweet, and spicy components of each sandwich. You can get the expertly pickled shredded daikon and carrots, cilantro, and jalapeño chili on the side if you plan to take your sandwich to go. It keeps the baguette from soaking up the juices and prevents a soggy bread. The baguettes are famous for a reason. We grew up buying the baguettes, pate, cha lua, the pate chaud, raisin rolls, sweet croissants... these are flavors and textures of my childhood that I plan and hope will persist for my children too! As always speak clearly and tip well!

Thomas P.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for breakfast one morning and were not disappointed. The baguettes had a hard, flaky exterior, but they were still soft. We had no complaints with the service nor with the coffee. Overall, this place is worth stopping by to grab breakfast, and we may come back for lunch some time.

Victoria T.

Yelp
Yum! I love this place more than Lees. I usually get their Special (#1) with everything inside. Their bread is crispy and the overall sandwich is so filling. Definitely would come back!

Yelp
My buddy brought me a still warm chicken pie this morning and it was delicious! So flaky! And the chicken meatball in the middle is flavorful and filling.

Robert S.

Yelp
The sandwiches are okay, I think I like Lee's better but its just preference. Service is a little iffy, the ladies looked annoyed when we came in to order, like we were ruining their conversation. The coffee is okay, I definitely like Lee's better.

Ricky L.

Yelp
nice and tasty sandwich, love the grilled pork sandwich. good service and the tables are clean

Melanie L.

Yelp
Great service from the ladies working this evening! The pade chaude are delicious and I will be back for more! Highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
My go-to location for the best Bun Mi. There are cheaper options, but this is your place if you're going for quality! Food: I usually get the class cold cut combo. Very fresh ingredients all around! Service: The staff here is usually a bit nicer than other bun mi places. Environment: After a busy run the place does look a bit sloppy. Parking is plentiful. Price: A lot pricier than your mom and pop bun mi shops, but worth the price. Food: 5 Service: 5 Environment: 4 Price: 4

Michelle W.

Yelp
This place probably have the longest banh mi compared to other banh mi places in the area. The shop was very spacious and had a nice big window. I ordered the cold cut and my friend ordered a vegan banh mi! They also sell some of the ham they use in the sandwiches and the vegan ham they use as well. They give a good portion of hams in the sandwich. They also had other items on display like croissants and they were HUGE. This place is pricier than other banh mi shops but the quality and quantity makes up for it! This is a good place to come to if you want a fast and quick lunch spot.

Gabby A.

Yelp
We were going to go to Lees but the drive through line was long. My boyfriend mentioned he's been to Mr.Baguette in the past and it was good so I agreed to try it out. I got the shredded chicken baguette it comes with cilantro jalapeño, romaine lettuce and other ingredients I don't really remember but regardless if I name them or not I highly recommend giving the baguettes here a try! The bread was so nice and fresh it was still very warm when they served it to me! They weren't stingy with the amount of ingredients they added including the chicken. When you walk into the restaurant the first thing you notice is how large the space is! I love wide restaurants I don't like to be to crammed up. Now the iced coffee omg I suggest if you don't drink coffee often please take your time with it, I drank it way to fast and had anxiety all day but I couldn't help it I had to keep sipping because it was so tasty and sweet. I loved this place

Yelp
i love this place i always take my grandma here to buy banh mi for the whole fam. it is very delicious i recommend coming back!!

Patrick R.

Yelp
Sandwiches there are pure dope! The best ones are the pork, the beef and best of all the bacon. The place is super clean plenty of room and great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. I will be going back.

Adneil N.

Yelp
My folks and I love this spot. True Vietnamese coffee that is strong and delicious. The staff here are friendly. They stuff the Banh Mi with fresh baked baguettes. The baguettes store well in the freezer too. Family tips: slice diagonally then in desired sections and use gallon freezer ziplock bags. To reheat: set toaster oven to 350° and patiently wait at least 10-12 minutes. It tastes like fresh out of their oven. Thank you guys.

Jessica Y.

Yelp
The restaurant has a small parking lot or there is street parking. Parking wasn't bad. I tried the grilled pork bahn mi and the chicken curry. Both were good. The curry was pretty spicy so beware if you can't handle spicy. It comes with side of baguette for dipping. It was quite flavorful. Service was pretty speedy.

Xianne H.

Yelp
The only thing good here is there bread,it's fresh and crunchy, everything else sucks. The meat has no flavor, the carrots have no flavor. What a waste of time and money. Go to Lee sandwich instead

Hoa L.

Yelp
I love their baguette & good for lunch and last you till dinner. Good price & will back again

Madoka K.

Yelp
Consistently great egg and pâté sandwich! I get them almost once or twice a week for breakfast. Bread is fresh, veggies inside are fresh and crisp, service is fast. Great quick stop for consistently good sandwiches!

Rachel L.

Yelp
Small variety of items but very fast and efficient. Parking in front of store for one maybe 2 vehicles and parking lot to the left of the store. Prices for Baguette were reasonable. The Vietnamese sandwich have jumped in price to almost double. It taste the same as other Vietnamese sandwich shops.

Jessica S.

Yelp
I absolutely love their baguette!! Crispy buttery baguettes that are super fresh made daily. If you haven't tried their special baguette (with meatloaf) it's amazing and definitely worth a trip. My entire family loves their Indian Chicken Curry which we dip the baguette in. Service is super fast and casual.

Hashiell H.

Yelp
I never pass through the SGV without stopping to pick up a #3 Banh Mi with Saigon bacon and pate. Super reliable, super fresh, and always delicious.

Ada Z.

Yelp
The baguettes are longer than most other banh mi places I've been to, but there's not much meat or veggies. It's mostly just bread. However, the bread was super crunchy and felt like it was toasted. We asked for no peppers, so that I could share with my toddler, but they accidentally added it and then removed it because the meat and carrots were spicy, and my toddler couldn't eat it. Not the best or worse banh mi I've had. Just mediocre. Closer to 3.5, but I rounded up.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
My favorite Banh Mi place. Everything we've tried is great. I love the veggie meat options, they taste better than the veggie meat you can get at the store. Love the baked goods and the coffee and teas too

Luke L.

Yelp
Mr Baguette was established in 2003 and current has four different locations. This location has a private parking lot and you get one free French baguette with purchase via the Yelp check-in offer. The ordering process was straightforward and the staff called my number after my order was finished. *** #5 Grilled Pork (marinated grilled pork, mayo - $7.99): Pretty expensive, but sandwich was really good. Baguette was extra toasty and ingredients tasted fresh. Grilled pork was great & had chewy texture. This version had no peanut, but I still think this is the 2nd best banh mi I have had in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area. Lastly the sandwich was a foot long and not one of those 6-inch sandwiches. Iced Milk Coffee (6 oz concentrate - $5): Another slightly more pricy item comparing with other shops that also sell Vietnamese iced coffee. The drink tasted very concentrated and overly sweet for my taste. It is a good drink for anyone who wants extra caffeine. I had to wait until most of ice cubes to melt before the drink was dilute enough to finish it. Personally I would stick with Lee's or 7 Leaves for smoother and milkier tasting Vietnamese coffee & come here or V K Food Products (https://www.yelp.com/biz/v-k-food-products-rosemead) for more concentrated & sweeter Vietnamese coffees. *** Come here if you don't mind paying up a bit for high quality Vietnamese sandwiches. P.S. - No buy 2 get 1 free offer here and free meal if you don't get your receipt.

Betty A.

Yelp
Mr. Baguette has delicious food it has new items for vegetarians and fast service.. you can sit and eat there or grab it to go... the baguettes are always fresh..

Vivian A.

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is small and located in the back of the establishment. When it's peak business hours, just park on the street. Easy street parking is available. Food: I ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee and grilled pork sandwich. The iced Vietnamese coffee was bomb and very strong, just the way I like it. The grilled pork sandwich left me with something more to be desired. I was unimpressed with the lack of stuffing in my sandwich. It was like 70% bread and 40% stuffing. That's why I decided to remove one star. However, the grilled pork was delicious and packed full of flavor. The prices here are decent. I don't think I will be coming back here for my Vietnamese sandwich fix. Staff: The staff here are very friendly and fast. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Yelp
Taste :4.1/5 Environment: 4.2/5 Service:4.2/5 French Vietnamese Sandwiches You can smell the fresh bakery entering the store. They offer a wide variety choices of French Vietnamese Sandwiches Youi can choose different bread from French Baguette, Sesame Baguette, Soft French or Croissant If you come here for 1st time You can choose Popular Choice: Banh Mi Dac Biet Special, is a combination of ham, pork meatloaf and head cheese, that is topped off with our delicious Liver Pate, Pickled Carrots and Fresh Cilantro and a delicate homemade style Mayo sauce. My experience is # 5 Grilled Pork (Grilled pork with mayo and house made salad) I will suggest you can heat the bread into oven/ microwave to level up the tasty. The bread is crunchy and ingredients are fresh but some ppl think the French Vietnamese Sandwiches is too dry. You may add your own sauce for moisture =) They have stores in these area South El Monte, Monterey Park ,Rosemead ,Westminister, Orange County

Yelp
Favorite place for ice milk coffee anytime of the day! Make sure you get the extra dark if you want a stronger coffee kick. The clam chowder is very flavorful and smooth, and doesn't taste like the cans soups at all. The clam is chewy and has some bits of soft potatoes and comes with sides of croustillant.

Bill C.

Yelp
Noticed the last few times that their Ice Milk Coffee tastes different. I think they are starting to water it down. Tastes weaker and doesn't look as dark as it normally does. Even doesn't have that condensed milk taste like it used to. The ice coffee is the main reason I come 3-4 times a week for... usually a sandwich and an ice coffee. Coffee being the star of the meal. Hoping that this is just the staff not making the coffee properly and need to be trained to do it right. Man, if they change the coffee for good, I will cut my visits there. The ice coffee is what I look forward to.

Alicia D.

Yelp
Yummy sandwhiches, plenty of parking, friendly staff. Not alot of places to sit but great for on the go.

Susan D.

Yelp
We bought 3 special #1. The bread was so hard that it cut the upper part of our mouth. There was no pate and no mayonnaise. Overall experience is horrible.

Vivian H.

Yelp
Mr. Baguette was part of my childhood - my family would always grab some every time we were in the 626 area. And to this day I'm still in love with it! The place is pretty chill, not much waits the last few times I've been there. I always get the special because it has everything on it. You can request for the pickled veggies to be put on the side, but I personally prefer to just include everything inside already. Every time I've went and gotten the special it's tasted great! Taste is consistent and I've never had problems here. The baguette itself is a bit smaller looking than other places but I think it's pretty filling. I've also tried their grilled meats baguette and the meat is very flavorful! My boyfriend usually prefers the grilled pork baguettes and he really enjoyed it from here. Their vietnamese coffee is also very strong and sweet. A perfect balance and really hits the spot when you want that vietnamese coffee taste. So goooood. You can yelp check-in for a free baguette too!! Overall, good experience and I love this place haha.

Organic Or Non Gmo T.

Yelp
Went on 2/24 Thurs 9am and was quickly greeted by an older Vietnamese lady who is not fluent in English but no issues. Pros: - Decent price on Grilled port #5: $7.99, Saigon Bacon #3 $7.49, Pate & Pork Meatloaf #2 $6.8 - Decently sized baguettes easily over a foot long. - Nothing too salty. Cons: - A little price on Lemongrass Beef #15 $8.99 - After 1 sandwich top of mouth starting to get a little sore from. the bread.

Pauline T.

Yelp
My go to for a slender French Demi baguette style banh mi! You can place an order online and it will be ready for you when promised. The grilled pork is delicious and the combination #1 will not disappoint if you like pate and head cheese. The coffee is made fresh from an espresso machine..very strong!

Maria G.

Yelp
Prices have gone up like 40 percent in last year and sadly quality has gone down . Coffee use to be 3.50 with boba now no boba and coffee is 6.00 dollars

Mike O.

Yelp
It's $6 for ice coffee in December 2022. This is very expensive. I thought it was $3 2 years ago. Lees coffee is still $3.59 for ice coffee so I'll be going there from now on. The Vietnamese sandwiches do taste better here than other places.

Wiggle A.

Yelp
Service was great ready under 5 minutes great service great hospitality over here very welcoming

Phil H.

Yelp
Good bread. Still chasing a sandwich that compares to Little Shop of Mary in Torrance, now that they shut down.

Jorge P.

Yelp
Mr baguette is cool, it's a bit more franchise oriented than the mom and pops options that are around the area. The sandwiches they offer are delicious and I do like how they come out extra crispy. It takes a bit too long for an order to be ready tho. The curry is freaking amazing and spicy af and I eat spicy. I love dipping the baguette into the base. I don't like their bread because the regular baguette is always hard and to get a soft one you pay extra just to wait while they reheat it. There's better bread at the mom and pops bakeries I feel. But overall the food is very good it's just the prices I don't like.

Magda N.

Yelp
The best Vietnamese coffee in town. Better and stronger than other places like Lee's or 168; these ones are solid but Mr Baguette is better and definitely stronger. If you're not used to strong coffee, beware you may get "the jitters". Solid banh mi too. Bread fresh every time and flavor is spot on. Price is about the same as any other place, but they don't have buy 2 get 1 free. Transaction is always quick and fast. My husband told me this is the first banh mi spot that opened in the area. Before that, he used to go all the way down to Garden Grove to get banh mi. So glad this place still opens after all these years. I will keep coming back!! Especially for the coffee, it's to die for.

Allen C.

Yelp
Been coming here for a while now and usually get their ham and egg sandwich or their #1 sandwich and an ice coffee. Sandwich is still great... And their ice coffee is the best around, good strong Vietnamese ice coffee. But lately, I noticed that the ice coffee has been getting weaker and weaker... even looks lighter in color... Although, at their location on Garvey, in which I go every Saturday, the ice coffee still tastes like it always did, robust and strong. Could you make sure the coffee is done right at the Valley Blvd location, please?
