"For over a decade, this small shop has been known for its crispy bánh xèo pancake with various fillings. For first-timers, English-speaking servers helpfully explain how the pancake is wrapped in rice paper with veggies and herbs, and dunked in the tangy fish sauce before being consumed. In addition to the signature pancake, hot pot, spring roll, rice noodles and barbecues are their strong suits." - Michelin Inspector

This place definitely lives up to its Michelin Guide recommendation! We loved it so much that we visited again to have our last meal in Vietnam here. The Grilled Squid, and Pork with Mint Rice Paper Roll were our favourites. The staff is very warm and welcoming. They seated and served us quite promptly. Pricing is very affordable. The restaurant accepts cash only.

I had a great meal at Mr Bảy Miền Tây – Bánh Xèo, a spot that definitely lives up to its Michelin Guide mention. The bánh xèo (Vietnamese mixed pancake) was incredibly crispy and held together nicely in the rice paper wraps, with fresh herbs and ingredients that really brought it to life. The fresh shrimp rolls were also well-prepared, especially with their flavorful dipping sauce. I also tried the grilled beef with vermicelli noodles, which came with pickled carrots, radish, lettuce, cucumber, and even pineapple—fresh, balanced, and very satisfying. We had two drinks: a lemonade and a lemon soda, both refreshing. Service was excellent and attentive, and while the place had a steady crowd, it was comfortable. We noticed a couple of small food tour groups dining too, which speaks to its popularity without feeling overwhelming.

Signature pancake was as expected, crunchy outer and juicy stuffing. Overall the food was great, just wasn’t sure if it’s up to Michelin hype standards. Service is wonderful, the lady will do a constant refill on the dipping sauce and rice paper.

We order the popular vegetable pancake wrap. It took quite a while given the local standard. The texture is crunchy and refreshing. Shrimp spring rolls is quite fishy for my taste. I only wish the AC could keep the place cooler for someone who is struggling with the summer heat.

The food is probably the worst of all the Michelin guides I’ve been to, I wouldn’t recommend going here. It relies heavily on being on the Michelin guides, and offers bad value in return. Typically I’m a fan SE Asian cuisine, especially grilled fish - but these weren’t it, and the sauce didn’t hit. The sambal was ok, fairly bland. The Ban Xeo - bland. Chicken was tough and tasteless. Also terrible value for money. Go around the corner and try somewhere else, you’re not missing anything. The Michelin guide says the hotpot is also meant to be good, but we didn’t try this. Maybe if you’re thinking of going, try the hotpot.

Delicious Local Delights in Hanoi – A Must-Try Spot! This was the first restaurant we visited when we arrived in Hanoi, and it truly set the tone for an amazing culinary journey. The seafood pancake (Ban Chieu) was a standout dish. They serve it with an incredible variety of fresh vegetables, perfect for wrapping up the pancake—a fun and flavorful way to enjoy the meal! We also tried the Bun Bo Nam Bo (Southern Vietnamese beef noodle salad), which was equally delicious. The balance of flavors in the dish, with tender beef, fresh herbs, and a tangy sauce, was unforgettable. The restaurant gets very crowded during peak hours, so I highly recommend visiting during off-peak times to avoid the rush. Overall, a fantastic introduction to Hanoi’s vibrant food scene. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the city!

Best Banh Xeo I tried here in Vietnam (already tried it many times). It‘s so flavorful and you get a fresh basket of herbs and salad to put in your rice paper. We also had fried spring rolls which tasted amazing as well. Little bit more expensive that other street food places but it’s worth it. Definitely recommend this place!

Wow! I am very happy with the restaurant. First things first. We ordered one Bahn Xeo with chicken and shrimps and one with beef. It arrived pretty quickly and definitely didn't disappoint. Very crispy and juicy. The atmosphere was very traditional, which made the experience even more special. Perfect for anyone who wants to try good traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The price is also perfectly acceptable
