"Mr. Braxton Bar & Kitchen is located in the Parkview (bordering Petworth) neighborhood of Washington, DC. A 400-year old Palladian window decorates the front lounge. A 1940s chamber stove serves as a coffee station in the back. A South African cape buffalo skull (died of natural causes) hangs over the bar. A turntable and vintage records are accessible for the bartender to throw on Marvin Gaye, The Doobie Brothers, Billy Joel, and Tina Turner."

Great spot for hanging with friends and to catch a vibe with good food! I had a really good time at Mr. Braxton Bar & Kitchen with a bunch of friends celebrating making it out of the group chat. Environment The space is welcoming with a cozy, vintage charm that draws you in. When you enter the space you're greeted by a long bar with seating and additional space for dining opposite the bar. If you continue toward the back of the space you find yourself in the patio area where we enjoyed our brunch. It's a beautiful space that's ideal for large parties. Service The manager and the servers were great and made sure we had everything we needed. They handled our large party well. Food came out quickly and the drinks were steady flowing. All was great. Food and drinks I kept it simple and had a the Braxton burger and fries. I love a good burger and this got the job done. I would come back for the burger and to sample other things on the menu. The mimosas were great and flowing. They had an unlimited deal that is a staple of a good DC brunch. Overall My experience Mr. Braxton Bar & Kitchen was great. I will definitely visit again for good food and a great vibe. They food and drinks were good and worth exploring more.

Live music on Sundays is a must! The service was hit and miss. Our service seemed visibly frustrated with our party because our food didn’t come out correctly. It was cold or just incorrect all together. Four out of 6 of the dishes were cold/incorrect. That greatly impacts the experience. I enjoyed the band. The drinks are pretty pricey. It’s a cute spot for an outing with friends.

Came here for a 3pm brunch then hopes to see the band at 5. Didn’t have service until 3:25, they were out of SEVERAL brunch items (salmon, steak, flour for wings) waffles were mid(or soggy, like they were the last) had unlimited mimosas that were also mid mostly OJ. They ended up being able to have wings last minute, just see photo 😩 my burger should have been medium, see photo😩 about an hr into my seating so like 430 445 ish we were asked to move for the band indoors at 6 🥴. Went to looking glass next door, my my my to surprise wings from there look VERY similar.

I have no complaints with this spot. They have nice decor, friendly staff and strong drinks. We had no issue with parking and it’s conveniently located in the heart of GA ave. Most impressive, the plants are real and healthy. Thats a nice touch to the ambience. We definitely came on a Sunday after brunch so please note it may be busy other days but it was a perfect after spot for us and we enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend people to come here and I can’t wait to come back!

I absolutely loved my visit here. I made reservations twice, unfortunately late to the second. However, the staff was still warm and kind. Eugene and our waitress were an entire vibe from their style to their persona. The food and drinks were amazing. They treated my family very well also. Service was amazing and I definitely look forward to enjoying the patio out back possibly the next time I visit. Thanks again loves. ❤️

I took my fiancé here for cocktails to celebrate his birthday prior to us having dinner. My reservation was for 6:45pm. I specifically reserved for the patio so that we could enjoy the live music. Upon arrival at 6:40pm we were left standing, unattended for 20 minutes before someone came to assist us. The bartenders watched as my party as well as another, stood confused, wondering where the hostess was and said nothing. The person that did eventually come to greet us, wasn’t the hostess, Although I appreciate him acknowledging us, we were then left waiting another five minutes while he grabbed the actual hostess. When the hostess finally arrives, she walks the party in front of us to the patio and we follow because we have been waiting for 25 minutes already. Upon entering the patio, it was full to capacity. We walked back inside with the hostess, who did not seat us. We eventually just grabbed a table ourselves to avoid standing any longer. We were approached for orders 15 minutes after sitting down. If you’re following, we have been in the restaurant 40 minutes with no service. When our server finally came, she apologized for the patio being full and said they were getting a table ready for us on the patio now. She took our drink orders and said that we would be moved to the patio. Not surprising we were never moved to the patio. What was supposed to be a birthday celebration was a nightmare. We did order the shrimp as a small plate and it was good, So I will give them credit there. The server seemed like she wanted to help, but there were no solutions to offer. So i don’t blame her. We ended up leaving at 8 PM. The experience was terrible. I likely will never support this business again. Management needs to step in and ensure reservations are being prioritized. Very disappointing

The artist , the ambiance, the food and drink service 💯💯💯💯. Bring your friends, your out of town guests or come for date night! If you’re looking for the old school DC vibe with live music in a cozy location , look no further! The owner (who is black) and his team have done an incredible job at providing a space for the mature crowd. Think…Love Jones!

Had an amazing time at Mr. Braxton Bar and Kitchen! Brunch on the back patio was perfect, with stunning decor and great weather. The service was exceptional, from the owner's warm welcome to our attentive server. The music added to the ambiance. Don't miss the Braxton burger – my friends loved it, and the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer are a must-try. If you're in a group of 4-6, go for a pitcher. Highly recommend this place for any occasion!

Yelp
We had reservations and were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. We were provided water and directed to scan the QR Code for the menu. I talked with the waiter (he was just helping until our waiter came) for his drink recommendations. We ended up getting a Logan's Berry and Pineapple & Tingz. Both were strong but very tasty. For our meal we had Honey jerk wings, Gambas Al Ajillo, & Crab Cakes. We did not wait long (at least it didn't seem like it) because the Dj and band had the vibes going. Our food was delicious.

Michaelle R.

Yelp
I ordered the crab cake with greens and mushrooms. The greens were soggy and bland, while the mushrooms had decent flavor. The crab cakes were more shrimp than crab and seemed undercooked. My boyfriend's steak was also flavorless, and he agreed the greens needed more salt. The ambiance was nice, with good music, and the group next to us ordered espresso martinis that looked good. However, there was an off-putting smell upon entering. On a positive note, the waitress was attentive.

Tee B.

Yelp
Customer service: 5/5 (there were some food execution issues and the staff made it right. Ambiance/vibe: great old school R&B/rap playing and we enjoyed every minute! Very cute set up too. Food: my omelette, potatoes and toast were all prepared well and tastes good. I would definitely go again if in the area.

Ree T.

Yelp
This place is very cozy inside. If you are expecting to have a private or intimate conversation with someone this place is not setup for that. The music is good, with live entertainment that feels good. The service is alright. They work hard to meet your needs it's just slow. They also were very busy when I visited. The food was good. The pasta was vegan and I enjoyed it. It was just really hard to be engaged with another in meaningful conversation when you are so close to the next table.

Vickie S.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Was invited there for a birthday brunch. When I walked in and sat down I was at awe. This place is very cute and quaint. We ordered bottomless Mimosas in all flavors and they were pretty tasty. The waiters were very tentative and helpful. There's an outside eating area which was nice as well and their playlist set the atmosphere just so. I will definitely will be back.

Yelp
I recently dined at Mr. Braxton's and had the pleasure of getting bottomless mimosas and the impossible burger. The plant-based burger was a delightful surprise! The patty was juicy and well-seasoned, perfectly complemented by fresh, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a tangy special sauce. The bun was soft yet sturdy, holding everything together nicely. It's one of the best Impossible Burgers I've had--definitely a must-try for vegans and meat-eaters alike! Overall, Mr. Braxton's offers a fantastic dining experience with a diverse menu that caters to different tastes. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
If you love live music, good vibes, and good eats then keep this spot on your list. For dinner we had the burger and the mussels. The drinks were hitting too. This is my second time visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint.

Yelp
Such a good brunch!!! Drinks- bottomless mimosas with either orange, pineapple, and grapefruit juice mixers. Food- each bite was super tasty. The chipotle aioli was a star. Steak and eggs well cooked and good flavor. Salmon sandwich was well seasoned and fresh. Chicken and waffles good crisp and flavors. Steak and eggs really yummy. Service- everyone we interacted with was super friendly and helpful. Special shutout to ivy, quan, and Caleb for helping with our large party. They were attentive! Vibes-The back garden is super whimsical and cozy. Great decor. Music on point.

Yelp
If you're looking for cute vibes in DC, check out Mr Braxton!! I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch with friends, and it did not disappoint. There is indoor seating, a full-service bar, as well as a back patio. Everything is nicely decorated. Service, although it started a little slow, turned out to be great!!! Quan and Ari were super sweet, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed, especially with us being a larger party. I was able to shake the hands of Booker, the owner, and he was very down-to-earth and a pleasure to meet. The food!!! I was torn between a few options on their brunch menu. I settled on the salmon sandwich, and it did not disappoint!! I added truffle fries, instead of regular fries just to be a little extra. Soooo good! It came with a chipotle mayo dipping sauce. Ask for 2!! It's delicious. Drinks!! Get the bottomless mimosas. It's worth it. Grapefruit was my fav, with the pineapple being a close second. We left there, feeling NICE...and full. I'll def be back!

Yelp
Mr. Braxton's in DC offers a unique dining experience with its charming decor and live music. I ordered the lamb shank along with a Moscow mule, but unfortunately, the lamb lacked seasoning and flavor. Despite the disappointing main course, the ambiance of the restaurant was top-notch, with the live music adding to the overall dining atmosphere. My friend also commented that her salmon could use some help. In general, it was a great evening. We were able to sit on their back patio which was cool since the weather was cooperating. The staff were friendly and even gave us different sauce options to help with the flavor. I would be back for drinks and the live band but the food left much to be desired.

Yelp
We had dinner here tonight with friends. This is my third time at this restaurant. We had the fried calamari; the blackened salmon (again), with coconut rice and roasted mushrooms; and the shrimp-crab cakes with coconut rice and kale. The calamari, salmon and shrimp-crab cakes were excellent, but I had to put salt on the rice and the kale.

Helana J.

Yelp
We stopped in to Mr. Braxton for a night cap and were warmly greeted by the bartenders. We looked over the menu made our selections amongst the group and the bartenders jokingly said you want what lol. So we settle on espresso martinis as it was getting late and we had to drive back to the MD suburbs. I got my drink made as it was on the menu with tequila but my girls opted for vodka instead. We all thoroughly enjoyed them!

Samantha T.

Yelp
Mr Braxton is a good lowkey spot to catch up with friends. The covered patio in the back is perfect for brunch. The food and service are pretty good. They have happy hour Wed- Fri, brunch on weekends with $35 bottomless mimosas, wine down Wednesdays and a late night menu Friday and Saturday.

Alexis T.

Yelp
It's a cute, small restaurant that maximizes its space. Some of the patio furniture needs cleaning. The waiters are personable and engaging. The shrimp and grits were a hit but it was the smallest portion of grits we've seen especially with a few shrimp. I'm not sure if it was a bad day but the jersey chicken had no flavor and was borderline dry. The kale and fries were prepared well. The drinks are good. My plus are the live bands. It's best to get there early to ensure seating or you'll be at the bar. It's a very intimate venue.

Andrea K.

Yelp
Mr.Braxtons was a great brunch, the service was great and the food was even better. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was tender flavorful and cooked to perfection. We were a party of three. Parking was pretty easy for us, it wasn't busy so we were able to find street parking within a block. We went during the day but they also have live music in the evening and I've hear nothing but great things. Would definitely recommend giving them a try!

William C.

Yelp
This spot is perfect for a chill night if you are not in a hurry and if you do not mind the service, which is borderline terrible. The ambiance and the vibe is super cool, and although we sat inside (Sunday night), the patio is beautiful and perfect for a Sunday brunch, which I will come back for. The food was absolutely delicious, my buddy and I ordered the same exact thing, curry chicken with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The curry chicken is a bit misleading though, and although it was delicious it is really baked chicken on top of a light curry cream. Which was still delicious, but it is not really curry chicken. Furthermore, they got both orders wrong, they forgot the mashed potatoes for both, but the greens they came with were delicious. We would have said something but our server was pretty much MIA and it took an hour to get our food so we were hungry and just starting eating with the hope that our server would come back to check, he never did. Although he did come back to give our other two friends their drinks which they forgot about but by that time we were done eating. The mushrooms were also absolutely delicious! Since our server never came back, i asked the other server who would pass by if I could order a drink from her. She was very kind and took my order. Sadly after 35 minutes of waiting I asked her if the drink was still coming and she had completely forgot that she had taken it. It was more comical than sad really and I took it as "shame on me" if i attempted to order anything else after the servers mentally check out after they take your initial orders. The music was chill and had a great vibe, although I would not take a first date here, you would not be able to hear, it is extremely loud. They add an automatic 20% tip regardless of party size to the bill which explains why the servers don't really care about you. I find that places that do that tend to have less than attentive servers and sure enough this was no exception. I will definitely be coming back but will probably sit at the bar where I can try to cut the wait a bit. I also want to try the other dishes. I originally wanted the lamb shank but they were out and replaced it with short rib. I then thought about the shrimp and grits but they ran out of shrimp and replaced them with fish. Once again, it was like a bad rom-com episode but probably worth giving it another chance.

Yelp
I dont know what rock I have been living under to miss this gem. A friend of mine randomly found this place looking for a new brunch spot. Its located in the petworth area of DC on GA Ave. Its somewhat limited seating but absolutely worth it. We tried the benedict, wings and waffles, scrambled eggs and truffle fries. While all these things are simple they can absolutely go wrong. So many restaunts mess all of these items up. But that wasnt the case here. Flavors were perfect. Tempature of food was right. And service was right. The only thing that gives me pause is the parking at the location which is limited. But thats not their fault.

Jamie G.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday brunch with some friends. We were able to get a nice bench/table combo for the six of us. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He even turned on a soccer game on the tv for one of my friends who requested it. We ordered two pitchers of mimosas to share, which was plenty. Everyone's entree came out delicious. There wasn't a complaint from anyone. My wings and waffles were so filling and delicious. The steak and eggs were really good. And three of my friend got the smoked salmon egg dishes which were also good. The place is small, but cozy. They had some good music playing low in the background, so you didn't feel like you had to talk over it. Overall a great chill vibe!

Emoni S.

Yelp
A few of us that are elite on Yelp came here for brunch and it was a beautiful day. We had the unlimited mimosas flowing and the server was very attentive to us. It was a bit slow, but we were distracted with good company we didn't mind. I ordered the pineapple mimosa and much is always a favorite. I also ordered the Braxton burger and its bacon and truffle fries. It did take a while to get our meal and most people ate already. So it was a bit slow, but overall once I got my burger it was DELICIOUS. The fries were crunchy and the sauce maybe jr even better. The people around me got the salmon burger and they also thought it was great. The back patio space is super cute too! The space is a little tight and it was a little hot back there, but they did have the fans on. Overall a group of 16 of us ate well and enjoyed the time here. There was no complicated with the bill and the server was very welcoming! I'll be back for sure! Great experience!

Nichelle D.

Yelp
Too small and not a great place if you don't have reservations or arrive early. I really wanted to have a great time, but unfortunately I did not.

Cam S.

Yelp
Reservations made for a late Saturday afternoon. Staff was attentive and friendly. The staff worked very well together to ensure a positive experience. The host even stopped by to be attentive to our experience. Great place for drinks. I think we had 4 drinks each. I am missing the French 75 in my photos. All the drinks were well made and refreshing. Food was great. I highly recommend the broccolini and cauliflower small plate. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. Outside has a lot of character on the patio and it is now covered with a greenhouse like roof to protect guest from rain. Restaurant was very clean and restaurant bathroom was tidy and clean. The bar is expansive inside. I would definitely recommend for a cute date, get together with a small group of 2-4. Not too loud so great for talking.

Yelp
This is my second visit here. The vibes were amazing. Ambiance is phenomenal. The food is sub par. Every dish I've tried has something missing. Ordered Calamari and Brussels to start. They weren't bad but again, something was missing. I can't quite put my finger on it. But, I just expected a bit of a pow effect. My lady wasn't impressed with the sauce, but that wasn't my experience with the calamari. I ordered the blacken salmon medium and it came back well. Shrugs, it happens. But, it was well prepared even without it being medium. I really enjoyed the squash purée. We ordered shots of reposado. But the highlight of the evening beyond the ambiance was the live music. Patience's voice is so angelic. The band was on point! I really enjoyed their spin on all my favorite jams. I pray they come back again. It was such a vibe.

Yelp
Visited from CA. This restaurant was at the top of my "must visit" list. I had reservations for 6PM. Walked in and there was no one to acknowledge or assist with my reservation. After waiting 5-10 minutes, a nice gentleman with dreads came to greet and seat us. Once at our seat, a young lady breezed by and said, " I'll be with you in a minute." Approximately 20 minutes later I waved to gentleman with dreads to my table and asked for water. At that point we hadn't made contact with our "waitress" or been offered water, a drink or anything. We didn't have cutlery either. The young man politely poured us water and asked if we had ordered. I told him we hadn't and he proceeded to take our order. At 732 PM... our food came out. 1 hr and 32 minutes after arrival and still no cutlery. While waiting... we were only given water once and acknowledged twice. The young lady that breezed by initially walks by again and I asked for a fork and she never returned. I asked a busboy who obliged. In the midst of this, the owner check in on the table both sides of me and asked about their food/ experience so far. He skipped over my table. I'm guess because there was no food on the table even thou we had been sitting for a while. When the food arrived, my friends chicken was not done (pink center)so it was returned and my shrimp but grits were OK. As soon as the food arrived we asked for the bill so we could leave. Ambiance and music was good but service was horrible. I would not recommend this restaurant as improvements are need. Customer service is one thing... a good customer experience is another. Definitely only worth 1 STAR.

C. Y.

Yelp
Hadn't been in a while and wanted to see what things had changed and/or improved. Like the previous times, service is still very much slow. The woman that greeted us at the front as the hostess was the same person serving as our waitress. She was clearly stretched thin. I had the Adobo Grilled Chicken Sandwich and it was pretty tasty. Pretty hard to screw up chicken and cheese. I liked that they used dark meat. The mimosas did what they do!

Karima L.

Yelp
Went for brunch. All the signs said that it was jazz brunch starting at 12...then the server said the jazz started at 1...then it started closer to 1:30. We had booked our brunch trying to catch the jazz so that was disappointing. The food was really subpar. Almost everyone at the table needed extra salt for flavor. They were out of avocado?! And my biggest complaint is that the wooden benches are incredibly uncomfortable and definitely not well suited to seat 3 people at a time. Very cute ambiance and decor but too many negatives made this a no for me in the future.

Taylor S.

Yelp
The outdoor patio is not really outdoors, it has a roof over almost all of it, which is not super clear from the pictures or their website. It is a cute space, but feels like a greenhouse when it's hot out. The food was good, but was different from what was ordered. The pancakes and french toast on the menu said they came with bananas, but they arrived with blueberries, strawberries, and cherries. Not a huge deal for our party, but if someone had an allergy... Menu needs to be updated to reflect seasonal changes. The service was okay. We waited a while to put in our food and drinks order and the food and check took a while to arrive. They were good about keeping our water pitcher full though! Overall, just be prepared to spend a bit of time here.

Nandi M.

Yelp
The food and drinks were perfection!! I had a shrimp and grits and my friend had steak and eggs. We also shared the French toast. For drinks, we had espresso martinis and the "only fans". The entire place is a vibe!!! From the friendly staff to food /drinks to the banging 90s R&B playlist, this was the perfect spot for two friends to catch up and have a dope time. I would absolutely come back. 10 of out 10 recommend!!!!!

Aadil K.

Yelp
Cute place, nice drinks, often have live band at night. Enjoy the patio outside. Food is simple but tastes good

Sarah B.

Yelp
We walked in (on Saturday night) and there was live music which was a nice surprise! I made a reservation and they sat my friend and I immediately. I had the coconut shrimp salad which was delicious. It was a perfect portion and not too heavily dressed. It had a nice ginger balsamic dressing which was light and flavorful. My friend had the hanger steak which was a decent portion. It was a little dry but make sure that you confirm what the sides are because they had a mistake on their menu! Cocktails were good! I had the Above Ground which was OK. It did get watered down pretty quickly but the Keep It Sexy cocktail was delicious ! Overall it was a nice time great for a date night or friends night !

Stacy C.

Yelp
So much potential as a hidden gem but today they missed the mark. The menu was so basic and not exciting. It took over 25 mins for an Egg Benedict and then received it cold. I gave 3 stars because I was able to express my displeasure and my order was comped. But my tastebuds left unfulfilled. I just hope there are plans to enhance the menu. Numerous dishes and drinks on the limited menu were not available. I'm rooting for this location but won't be back till significant changes are made. Too many cool DC spots to be hoping on a prayer for one to be better. Good luck!!!

Victoria B.

Yelp
I did not have a good experience here at all. I came here for brunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty dead. It was a beautiful day, so we we sat on the patio. The patio is very small but cute. There were probably only like 6 tables. Unfortunately, however, the restaurant couldn't seem to handle those six tables. It took forever for EVERYTHING. They don't do bottomless here so my friend and I each ordered a pitcher of mimosas. It took 45 minutes for the mimosas. And then when the server came back, he only had one glass each of the mimosas. We told him that we each ordered pitchers and he proceeds to take the glass back and then go back to get pitchers. I guess it was too much to just leave the glass since we'd be waiting so long. We finally get our pitchers of mimosas and they're warm, flat, and watered down. These were probably the worst mimosas I've ever had. It tasted like they mix the juice with water before adding it to the "sparkling" wine. For food, my friend ordered a burger and I ordered a veggie omelet. The omelet was the last thing to come out. It took an entire hour. Yes, an hour for the saddest omelet I've ever seen. It was thin, dry, had one slither of a tomato, about 5 spinach leaves, and a teaspoon of cheese. It was also about as dry as cardboard. I didn't think you could mess up an omelet but I was wrong. I also ordered a side of "smoked bacon" but it was three extremely thin half-strips of bacon. The bacon was so thin it was translucent- obviously cheap and not the "smoked bacon" experience I was expecting. The staff were nice enough but there was absolutely no reason to be so slow and unapologetic about it. It was also the worst food and mimosas I've ever had. As we were leaving I mentioned to the manager that the mimosas were flat, so she gave us a glass from a different brand of sparkling wine, which was nice, but given the experience as a whole I will not be back. I was so excited to try this place too.

Yelp
The theme and atmosphere is nice. That is where the accolades stop. Problem: The drinks and food is over priced. The neighborhood is not safe...very sketchy folks hanging out in front and next door. Although my car was parked directly across the street it was broken into. Recommended Solution: Get a security guard and raise the quality of drinks and food. Put a camera on the building. Lastly, stop exploiting your customers/people.

Yelp
Was looking forward to this spot. Sorry, but they let me down. Walked in and u could hear crickets. I know it was a Wednesday, but dang. Not a souls in site. Let's just say for an empty place it took forever for our food To come and everyone apologized. Server was over the top. Way over the top and not in a good way. Did the ownership change?

Yelp
Such a cute spot and conveniently located on Georgia ave (fun fact, one of the restaurant/bars that used to occupy this space many years ago was also one of my favs). Reasons for the 5 stars - all of the food was SOOO good. We tried the following and highly recommend you do too: - Fra Diavolo mussels - fries (I'm a sucker for a good fry and these are handxut and perfectly seasoned) - Angus burger - winter pear salad - side salad - Truffle mac and cheese All delicious. Will be back to try more of the menu - the decor is just sooo good, but indoor and out. It's def a moody vibe with lots of plush plants and good music in the background. I saw a few date nights, people with their laptops enjoying a cocktail and old friends reconnecting (i people watch so...yeah). - service was also really great (also a sucker for great service and this geoup didn't disappoint). My friends and I had no complaints. Will def pop in again to try more of the menu!

Yelp
I'm honestly starting to believe that some of these establishments with 4 stars are writing their own reviews or patrons are drunk while reviewing because it's no way possible that this establishment should have 4 stars. I live in MD and frequent DC for the vibes and food options. Well this establishment was by far one of the WORST brunches I've ever stumbled across. To be honest they should just remove brunch from the menu. We opted to sit in the patio area which was a bad idea from the start. We were immediately rushed after the first waitress arrived 15 minutes later. The menu is already vey limited and on top of that many of the items the cook didn't want to make since brunch was over in 30 minutes smh like it honestly take no time to make a bald flavorless pancake and we were told that we couldn't receive a full order of the pancakes so they would give us one for free to taste Next up we ordered a pitcher of pineapple mimosas and it was the nastiest HOT drink I've ever tasted. It took forever to arrive and had the nerve to arrive nasty and hot... I've never in my life received a hot mimosa and it made it even worse that we were outside with that hot drink. At this point we were starving and I know we should've got the heck out of there but we were thinking that it's no way you can mess up French toast. Well I was wrong we received flavorless French toast, cold home fries and the free nasty pancake that magically appeared on my check at the end. This was truly a disgusting and disappointing experience. They really need to reevaluate their business. 4 confused waitresses assisted us all while rushing. Random guy interrupted us every 5 seconds holding drinks and meals that were not ours. The place lacked everything from the lack of communication with the staff and the below average food I will never return here ever.

Yelp
Omg what a cute lil spot. Live music, good service, amazing atmosphere/vibe. Satisfactory drink menu and food options. If you are looking to vibe the stresses of the day away, this your spot. Rustic antique style patio as well.

Yelp
Mr. Braxton's is a chill low key spot where the cool kids play (wink). BTW don't look to me, I'm off the grid doing what the 40 somethings do (smile). But I step out here and there. Came on a Saturday night with a reservation, a must for this place and I would suggest a week in advance. It has a retro 70's throwback look with thrift store finds nicely curated around a small bar. Lots of plants and just a good crowd! I enjoyed the Rosemary Bone In Chicken with scalloped Potatoes, Sauté Squash cooked in herbed cream sauce. My friend and I split the Truffle Mac & Cheese, it's not Big Mama's mac, buts good, made with mascarpone and aged cheddar, they also allow you to add a protein to this too (chicken, lobster, or shrimp). Prices are reasonable with most entrée's priced in the mid-$20's. My meal was great. The vibe was great. Going back, Yo, I can't wait! Brunch Oh and Thursday's live music on the back patio.

Yelp
I love that this is a Black establishment. The ambiance was lovely, and the music was fantastic, but the restaurant and food were quite underwhelming. I made a reservation for brunch on a Saturday. My group and I had no problem getting seated. On this day, it was raining, so all seating was inside. Inside is a tight squeeze. It felt like my party of 3 was hoovering over the people at the table next to us. Nonetheless, we made the best of our experience. We ordered a pitcher of mimosas. The waiter brought out the wrong flavor and blamed us for telling him the wrong flavor. That was a turn-off because the flavor he brought out, one of the people in my group was allergic to (Why would we order that one). The staff was okay. They were not super attentive and you really had to work hard to flag someone down. It took about 30 minutes for the food to come out. The food presentation needs some work. I ordered the spinach and tomato omelet. The portions are super small and I was quite disappointed by the cost to portion ratio. My friend also got an omelet and she had more food than me. The omelet did not taste good. I removed the tomatoes as they tasted horrible and brought the flavor of the omelet down. I ended up ending the spinach separately and seasoning up the eggs for a better taste. The omelet looked like it was made with 1.5 eggs cause it was so small and flimsy. The potatoes were well seasoned and were the best thing on the plate. However, they don't give you much. Someone else ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was sooo salty and overseasoned. I will say based on portion size, the chicken and waffles seemed to be the better option on the menu. Overall, the food was disappointing and this was a below-average brunch experience. The chances of me returning here are low.

Yelp
Great place for great food. Every dish was superbly cooked and prepared. Flavors were on point. I recommend this place!

Yelp
Found this cute little gem for brunch. It's small with a nice vibe, good music, and good service. Not fancy but a bit charming! I didn't expect the tea to come in a cute tea cup with the cutest little honey pot! I've never had Brussels cooked with cranberries (absolutely delish!). The shrimp and grits were good but the grits could use more seasoning and sauce on top. I ordered the hangar steak to be medium rare and it was medium+ at best so that was a bummer. The truffle fries were AMAZING. Probably my fav part of the experience. I'd come back to try other things, likely from the lunch/dinner menu!

Yelp
Really disappointing brunch food and drinks. The service was incredibly slow and perfunctory given how dead and dull it was in the restaurant. This place is a pass.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service, excellent cocktail, friendly, attentive service. I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
I came here with two colleagues of mine and pleasantly enjoyed my meal. The food was very filling and the ambiance was intimate and very beautiful, a little bit of darkness with a beautiful aesthetic. The service was amazing and elegant, I would definitely come back to try dinner service!

Yelp
I finally stopped by at Mr Braxton after seeing the beautiful outdoor picture in several places. Located really close to the Petworth/Georgia Avenue metro, I'd recommend you use it if you can because the parking was very limited; it took me about 10 minutes to find something decent. We made a reservation on a Friday evening, but the spring weather was amazing and when we got there, all the outdoor seating was unfortunately taken. The inside was also nice and spacious so we grabbed a table. When we arrived it wasn't super busy, but within a couple of hours it got a little packed. Great music in the background as well. We asked our very helpful waiter for drink options and although I gulped it all down before getting a picture, I'd recommend them--the "mon chérie" was blue and spritzy, while the other cocktail that was a daiquiri was refreshing and a little more generous with the alcohol. We had the honey jerk wings--ordered twice due to how banging it was. And it wasn't spicy, so don't shy away from it! We also got the fried calamari, which was crunchy and well seasoned, accompanied by a nice spicy sauce and a milder sauce as well. We also tried the Brussels sprouts--amazing appetizer that also came with bacon pieces and added a little dazzle to it. There were some main dish options as well but we stuck with the appetizers. It's be great to stop by again and I recommend this place for a nice spring or summer date with friends or lovers. If you can get in before a rush and snag the outdoor seating, definitely try for that as well.

Yelp
I stopped by for a late dinner with my parents last fall and enjoyed the ambiance. They can get quite busy, so we sat at the bar and the bartender was so friendly and attentive. Tasty cocktails and the food is generous portions. Seems like a great spot for a date night.

Yelp
We found this place based on reviews. We are from California and this place was a gem!!! The food, ambiance, live music and service were on point. The bathroom was actually clean! We got the burger and crab cakes and both were seasoned just right! The Caribbean flavor of the crab cakes and sides were tantalizing and authentic. The drinks were perfectly crafted, strong enough with the flavors stated and refreshing, while enjoying the live music unlike any establishment I've been to on the east and west coast. Would highly recommend this place and making a reservation for Thursday!!!

Yelp
First visit last night with my wife and daughter. Very small place, and we didn't have a reservation, so we sat at the bar and Ryan the bartender did double duty with the food orders. I had the Cuban sandwich and really liked it. The pulled pork was good and not so powerful to overtake the whole sandwich. My wife had the burger and it was tasty. My daughter loved the salmon and linguini, and nobody left the fries untouched. Ryan was friendly and made sure we had water, condiments, etc. when we needed it. Great place, and we'll be back.
